Cheney’s Handwritten Notes Implicate Bush in Plame Affair
By Jason Leopold and Marc Ash
t r u t h o u t | Report
Wednesday 31 January 2007
Copies of handwritten notes by Vice President Dick Cheney, introduced at trial by defense attorneys for former White House staffer I. Lewis “Scooter†Libby, would appear to implicate George W. Bush in the Plame CIA Leak case.
Bush has long maintained that he was unaware of attacks by any member of his administration against [former ambassador Joseph] Wilson. The ex-envoy’s stinging rebukes of the administration’s use of pre-war Iraq intelligence led Libby and other White House officials to leak Wilson’s wife’s covert CIA status to reporters in July 2003 in an act of retaliation.
But Cheney’s notes, which were introduced into evidence Tuesday during Libby’s perjury and obstruction-of-justice trial, call into question the truthfulness of President Bush’s vehement denials about his prior knowledge of the attacks against Wilson. The revelation that Bush may have known all along that there was an effort by members of his office to discredit the former ambassador begs the question: Was the president also aware that senior members of his administration compromised Valerie Plame’s undercover role with the CIA?

Next time, check your sources…Okay?
February 1st, 2007 at 12:27 amExley, Check YOURS please. I did read the article (see my post above). The testimony suggests that it is possible that Bush knew about this and lied. As I stated, the evidence is somewhat flimsy but it does bear looking at.

February 1st, 2007 at 12:54 amThe Pentagon recently reported that it now spends roughly $8.4 billion per month waging the war in Iraq, while the additional cost of our engagement in Afghanistan brings the monthly total to a staggering $10 billion. Since 2001, Congress has spent more than $500 billion on specific appropriations for Iraq. This sum is not reflected in official budget and deficit figures. Congress has funded the war by passing a series of so-called “supplemental†spending bills, which are passed outside of the normal appropriations process and thus deemed off-budget. -Ron Paul

Three Strikes, You’re Out — Jason Leopold Caught Sourceless Again
Paul McLeary
We wonder if the folks over at Truthout.org are rethinking their affiliation with reporter and serial fabulist Jason Leopold. Leopold, you may recall, is the freelance reporter who was caught making stuff up in a 2002 Salon.com article, self-admittedly “getting it completely wrong” in pieces for Dow Jones, and had his own memoir cancelled because of concerns over the accuracy of quotations.
Leopold’s latest addition to his application for membership in the Stephen Glass school of journalism came on May 12 of this year, when he got what appeared to be the scoop of a lifetime. Now writing for Truthout.org, Leopold reported that Karl Rove “told President Bush and Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten, as well as a few other high level administration officials,” that he was about to be indicted in the Valerie Plame CIA leak case, “according to people knowledgeable about these discussions.”
Leopold claimed that multiple sources “confirmed Rove’s indictment is imminent. These individuals requested anonymity saying they were not authorized to speak publicly about Rove’s situation.”
Well, today we learned that special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald said he would not seek charges against Rove. Oops.”

February 1st, 2007 at 1:09 amAnd what had Mr. Wilson been doing since the First Bush administration? Bathing the kids? Picking up the dry-cleaning?
February 1st, 2007 at 1:12 am“When Leopold’s story was first called into question a few weeks ago, Salon’s Tim Grieve reminded readers of Leopold’s checkered history with the publication. Salon removed Leopold’s August 29, 2002 story about Enron from its site after it was discovered that he plagiarized parts from the Financial Times and was unable to provide a copy of an email that was critical to the piece.”

Had enough, Bnf??????
February 1st, 2007 at 1:14 amvv you jest. Do you have that inside info about who actually requested Joe Wilson? Look into it instead of just repeating what BO and the boys told you. The VP had been given info (later proven to be false) that Niger was selling yellow cake to iraq. The VP wanted more info so his office requested more information from…..you guessed it the CIA. You see they do that type of thing. The CIA had pegged Mr. Wilson because he was a former diplomat in that region of the world and would be able to gather some info. After they decided he should be the one the CIA heads went to Mrs. Wilson to see if Mr. Wilson would be receptive to this. Are you following because there is the link between the VP and Wilson. Anyway, Mr. Wilson wanted to go and found………you guessed it again. NOTHING WAS SOLD TO THE IRAQIS. That was in his report that he gave to the CIA. Only after the President said Iraq is trying to buy yellow cake from Niger did Mr. Wilson speak out.
So it actually sounds like you have your head up your ass and are attempting to pass off bullshit for knowledge.

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2007/01/26/libby_trial_evidence_depicts_cheney_as_orchestrating_tactics/
“In late August 2002 Salon reported a major scoop: An e-mail linked then Army secretary Thomas White, a former executive at Enron, to an effort to cover the massive losses at the energy giant. White’s supposed message instructed a subordinate: “Close a bigger deal. Hide the loss before the 1Q [first-quarter report].”
By early October, the scoop was scrapped: Salon retracted the story, saying it was “unable to independently confirm the authenticity” of the e-mail. What looked like a direct link between the Bush administration and the Enron debacle was shredded, and the career of Jason Leopold–the author of the piece–was destroyed.
Now Leopold has written a book that casts that episode as just one drama in a tumultuous life that includes years of drug addiction, a felony conviction Leopold hid from his employers, getting fired from a Los Angeles Times community paper for threatening a reporter, and leaving Dow Jones Energy Service after an inaccurate story got Leopold pulled from the Enron beat.”

Also, didn’t see a response to my question that does it matter who reported it if it was brought up in the trial? I don’t care about your crusade against the reporter. I’m more interested in the facts at the trial. Wouldn’t you agree that it would not bode well for the Bush administration if handwritten notes from Cheney implicated Bush. This is Watergate level stuff were talking about. Quit side stepping this and man up. This could drop GW to his knees and you know it.

I hear that MAF and Hastert are gay lovers a massage therapist, In DC, reports today
February 1st, 2007 at 1:37 amPreviously described in court filings and by the media, Cheney’s role was brought to life yesterday by Martin’s account. She is the first witness in the case who worked closely with Cheney and Libby as they tried to refute former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, who was sent to Niger by the CIA to determine whether Iraq had sought uranium for a weapons program.
Her testimony was buttressed by previously unreleased documents provided as evidence yesterday, including handwritten notes and margin scribblings Cheney’s staff members hastily jotted at their boss’s instruction.
February 1st, 2007 at 1:40 amWhy do you say that? When Libby was first indicted there was panic and then it appeared that the Libby camp could ride the storm and all would be well. That changed when he came into court and decided to save his own skin. He’s throwing everybody he can under the bus and who’s to say it will stop with him. He was Cheneys chief aide. That is the top. Do you think Libby just ran with these ideas on his own? Do you realize the damage that would create for a renegade staffer to release classified info. That’s right it was declassified by who? Cheney who was given the ok by Bush. This has all the markings of a presidential collapse. If I have learned anything about Fitz is that he is patient and purposeful. He is also very patriotic and if it were to be made known to him that the heads of this country did lie then it will become public. For the sake and health of the nation.

Of the formed outer surfaces of commercial jet aircraft, what type of material (be specific) are they mostly made of?

February 1st, 2007 at 3:14 amThe 727-100 and 200 series aircraft use the P and W Jt8d series of turbine engines.
February 1st, 2007 at 3:14 amThe hydrauilic system runs at 3,000 PSI and uses an esther based synthetic type fluid Skydrol. The Jet engines mostly use 2380 synthetic oil.
The 727 has two electric hydraulic pumps and two engine driven pumpss.

February 1st, 2007 at 11:43 amEverybody knows that being pro-American means being pro-war – every day, every time. Let’s change the flag, and add some bullets and bombs to it, so the whole world can understand what we’re about.
Here is the core element of rightard 2-D thinking:
If you are not against something, it means you are “for” it.
If you are “against” something, it means you are “for” its opposite.
They apply this “simpletons’ calculus” to everything: If you’re not a rabid pro-lifer, it means you want compulsory abortions; if you’re against the war, you’re for the terrorists, if you’re against cutting Social Security, it mean you’re a Communist, if you’re for environmental regulation, it means you want to destroy the economy.
At the end of the day, this kind of worldview is the greatest enemy humankind has ever faced. Worse than any army, or weapon, or ideology. The Simpletons’ Calculus is tearing down Democracy, tearing down our civil society, and advancing ignorance throughout our population like a rampant infectious disease.
“Men”, like ORally and Limpball, are making fortunes creating new “theorems” of Simpleton’s Calculus, and their viewers, too harried and rushed and short of attention lap it up, repeat it, and it becomes a false part of the real public debate. What you cannot find are many examples of Simpletons’ Calculus being practiced at the Left end of the spectrum. Not to say it isn’t done, because it is, it just isn’t the primary m.o. of any on the Left. In some cases, it might be worth using, just to get the scales tipped back toward the center, or to “break the ice” of ignorance that has the ships of so many stranded in the harbor.

February 1st, 2007 at 12:20 pmI’m a basic lefty and I don’t trust Jason Leopold either. Its not only that he falsly reported that Rove was to be arrested, he held to that long after it was clearly untrue, and worse, as a ‘journalist’ he never fully retracted. He bobbed and weaved about how he was ‘in front of the news cycle’. If you’re a journalist and get it wrong, you need to own up. Truthout also displayed a Dubya-like unwillingess to admit they were wrong. I’ve stopped going there.
Check http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/blog/2006/05/23/BL2006052300414.html
p.s. He has admitted in his memoir to “…breaking journalistic rules, and lying to employers”, as well as drug addiction. So I hold, just as in reporting a story, if Leopold is your one source you have nothing yet. I’ll wait on corroboration.

The outer surface of the structure may of course be provided with various … The specific type of fibrous material and its orientation and/or weave will of …
A load-bearing composite material structure (2, 2′) has a plurality of layers of composite material. Each layer includes a matrix material (4) that maintains its structural integrity at 1200.degree. F. for at least five minutes. Preferred matrix materials are polyimide resins. Outer layers that will be directly exposed to a fire are reinforced with a woven fabric (8) that is sufficiently flame resistant and has a sufficiently fine weave to prevent flame penetration at 2000.degree. F. for at least fifteen minutes. The woven fabric (8) is preferably ceramic. The rest of the layers are reinforced with a fibrous material (6) to provide the necessary structural strength. The layers may be laminate cured together to form a single, integral structure (2) or such laminates adhesively bonded to a honeycomb (12).
February 1st, 2007 at 1:45 pmYou folks have to understand something. War is not a good thing in any man`s book. Even the fighting man`s.
But you are looking at this war out of the CIVILIAN mindset and realm and to be quite frank and open, you are blowing this war way out of proportion and taking only pretexts of conversations as well as selected film clips and are using them and doctoring them to suit your purpose.
When you civilians come to visit us, we look at you like you are from outer space or something. You have been brainwashed and media sandblasted to believe that EVERYTHING is wrong in Iraq. The look on some of your faces when you would come to Iraq to see things for yourself was almost one of, This is all their is to see?
Where`s all the death? Where`s all the destruction? You leeches almost looked like you were disappointed or somehow got ripped off by Uncle Sam and didn`t get your money`s worth, and if it hadn`t been a war you would have stomped your foot and demanded your money back.
Because to you civilians, that`s all a war is as far as you know. -Just like a video game- most keyboard commandos around here assume I expect.
Their have been great accomplishments come to pass in Iraq.
You only dwell on the negative.
There is a war on you know?
With live bullets?
People die.
Relax.

Honeycomb structures are quite strong, however the skin of the aircraft is mostly aluminium (2024-0, 2024 t3, 2024 t6 depending on the heat treatment and precipitation times (annealing)). The flight controls (ailerons, tabs, spoilers) are made with honeycomb and are aluminium clad. The radome and other wing to body fairings and access panels, doors (AC bay) are composite. The Scarebus (Airbus) uses more of these composites than the Boeing or Douglas (now Boeing) aircraft.

“That’s really an under-told story — we’ve stopped the reconstruction,” said Frederick Barton, co-director of the Post-Conflict Reconstruction Project at the Center for Strategic & International Studies think tank. “There are some things we’re still finishing up, but we’re wrapping up, and we’re stepping back. It’s really a tragedy.”

I wish these guys would stop trying to blame ‘liberals’ for their mistakes. It’s old, it’s tedious, it’s false and its’s basically slander. Yet the media, such as BORe here will continue to mislead the 30% with their insane Fondas and Penns diatribes.

Actually, Tom, I think you make some good points. I have never been one that thinks if you are “against” something that you are automatically “for” its opposite. I do not think that those against the war in Iraq are for a US defeat. I do not think them un- American. You can not put things in simple terms like that.
I will give you an example of my own life. I am PERSONALLY against abortion, but I am by no means FOR banning it. Some people may not be able to understand that thought process.
Tom, you are a good man.
