“A U.S. Army helicopter crashed Friday

in a hail of gunfire north of Baghdad, police and witnesses said — the fourth lost in Iraq in the last two weeks. The U.S. command said two crew members were killed, and the top U.S. general conceded that insurgent ground fire has become more effective.”

    The …..fourth…..in TWO WEEKS?

BushCo is doing a great job protecting us, honoring our soldiers, and making the world a better safer place….. isn’t he…….

I’m tired of the trolls on this site ……I’m tired of the obtuseness and dysfunction that passes for caution these days regarding removing the criminal regime of GW Bush.

I’m tired of people being “confused.” It is time to act. We must get involved where we live, call Congress every day if necessary, and speak out. This administration and the Republican party’s time is……….UP. There is no longer any excuse and if you still support this thug of a president, you are not worth the time it takes to read your post.

  2. Barfly says:

I would imagine that those attempting to shoot down the Apaches have learned to set up decoy targets, so that retaliation from the helicopters exposes their vulnerable areas, positions them for a kill shot. Perhaps we need more warthogs, instead of copters.

  3. WaltTheMan says:

They may have learned to use automatic weapons brackets to bring down hellicopters like the Viet Cong did in Nam. A trained team of eight or nine was about 20% effective at cover range. The only problem with the tactic was that 4 out of 5 teams were not successful and did not survive the mission. Producing 30-35 Viet Cong was a simpler process then producing 1 Huey and unskilled labor was all that was required in the case of the former.

Ahhh how about including shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile

In one recent case, an Iraqi official said $25 million in Saudi money went to a top Iraqi Sunni cleric and was used to buy weapons, including Strela, a Russian shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile. The missiles were purchased from someone in Romania, apparently through the black market, he said.

It’s getting uglier for the US troops but the Idiot-in- Chief and Darth Cheney could care less as long as they secure the Iraq oil supplies for their cronies

Funny how the insurgents are becoming such great shots…

…at the same time huge weapons caches go missing…

    So riddle me this

    Saudi cleric buys weapons
US bombs and slaughters 250 Shia pilgrims initially called zealots who now turn out to be Shia who do NOT support Iranian Shia. These Shia claim that the Baghdad govt is too pro-Iranian for them.
Yet the US bombs and kills them.

Meanwhile Saudi Arabia is providing weapons to sunni insurgents who are killing US military.

Can anyone make sense of this?

We are killing those who support us, so that we can support those who are killing us.

This surely is the work of madmen.

    Or better yet, organized crime.

  11. Jay Randal says:

Yes General the insurgents are able to shoot down our helicopters, so the chopper flight from the Baghdad airport to the Green Zone is no longer safe for Generals, nor for US politicians, nor for the pilots and soldiers that go on missions in them.

Paper hints at possible Israeli strike plans for Iran
    http://www.rawstory.com/news/2007/Paper_hints_at_possible_Israeli_strike_0202.html

“The unidentified “military source” told Bill Gertz and Rowan Scarborough that Israeli officials are discussing the “how and when” of a possible pre-emptive strike on Iranian nuclear infrastructure.

“The Israelis know that their attack on Iran would be far bloodier and much more difficult than” the raid that destroyed Iraq’s Osirak nuclear reactor in 1981, they write in their weekly “Inside the Ring” column. The report indicates that Israel has been purchasing large numbers of precision-guided munitions kits for existing bombs and “bunker-busters” that could destroy underground Iranian nuclear facilities.

Israel considers the Natanz uranium enrichment facility and the Russian-built Bushehr nuclear power plant to be key targets, the two write. “They will have to strike during the day to make sure they get the technicians and scientists,” the story also quotes its source as saying.”

Army helicopter crashes also have a lot to do with the fact that their pilot training is inferior – their pilots come from enlisted ranks.

their pilots come from enlisted ranks.

So you are saying enlisted soldiers are inferior

    That`s what those things do.

    Wars.

    They kill people.

    On purpose.

    This is reality.

Each helicopter cost what $1,000,000 that ’s 57 million and already we’re short equipment and money to replace all the things this clusterfuc– has destroyed!!!!!

  23. hacker bob says:

    Comment by Nathan

Nathan, you speak from your ass.

Yes, there are SOME Army helo pilots that came from enlisted ranks, and then became Warrant Officers in order to fly helicopters. They have to meet the same testing requirements as the regular Commissioned Officers. The only difference is the bachelors degree that a Commissioned Officer has. As far as that goes, that degree can be in Phys Ed, Underwater Basket Weaving, or the like.

Intelligence or training is not the issue. Broken/faulty equipment maybe.

And, as I am an Enlisted man, I want to inform you that the average enlisted man is better educated that the general population of the United States. The US military over all has 80% of enlisted personnel with at least a High School degree as opposed to around 60-70% in the general population. 46% of Enlisted personnel have post-high school education (to include Associates degrees).

So, your John Kerry condemnation of US Army enlisted personnel falls short.

Do you have a source to cite for your statistics on the education level of enlisted personnel? That would definitely help in your argument with Nathan.
