chief U.S. military spokesman William Caldwell told reporters in Baghdad. “We have had four helicopters shot down … It appears they were all the result of some kind of ground fire.”

The result of ground fire you say…..how profound! Did ya think it could be air to air? Maybe sea surface launched????
Either way, those are expensive pieces of kit. No doubt much attention will be given to the matter.
ya think? God these people think Americans are dumb. 4 helicopters in two weeks……..?!!!!? Sorry, but no cigar. That is not business as usual. Not only have we lost, but the meat grinder setting has been moved to high and BushCo is just fine with it. Grind grind grind. You know, the truth is that soldiers, all Americans, and the other peoples of this world are just numbers and chess peices to this spoiled greasy mob.

By the way, the grownups are moving in. This government is on it’s way out. People that care about peace – you know, the things that make life worth living, instead the adrenilne rushs you power freaks crave, are fed up and taking action. War is not a life style.
I don’t understand – someone please explain — why are we surprised and outraged that our helicopters are being shot down? This is a “war” and aircraft are targets aren’t they? As for who is shooting them down, I think we can guess they are Iraqis, aided and supplied by any number of sources who have a dog in this fight.
Rachael! Come here girl! You’ve got poop on your foot, and you’re leaving tracks all over the place! Sit! Rachael! Sit! I’ve got your favorite chew toy . . .

Caldwell has proven that he is certified stupid, so he must resign! Yes the helicopters were shot down by insurgent ground fire. The Iraqis are learning to shoot at the back rotor blade, which when damaged causes the chopper to spin out of control and crash.
Now, boys, play nice. Mr. Caldwell may simply have been saying, “Four helicopters were apparently shot down. We don’t think any helicopters crashed because they malfunctioned. We think that fire from the ground was the source of their crashing.” Admittedly, he evidently phrased it poorly, but this seems to be a logical explanation.
Not that I think the helicopters should ever have been there in the first place. I was one of only a few hundred demonstrating against the war in Raleigh, NC four years ago. Where the hell was everyone else?
candideinnc > I have been against the Iraq Fiasco War from day one. I never wanted it to take place. Now the Iraqi insurgents have learned what the Viet Cong in Vietnam learned: shoot down as many helicopters as possible. Choppers are vulnerable to ground fire if they fly low.
candideinnc > I do hope Americans can pressure the Congress to stop a war on Iran, before it starts, because it would be 10 times worse than Iraq. Do Americans want to see a hundred dead soldiers a day?

February 4th, 2007 at 9:54 amWell, it is a war. People die and equipment gets destroyed. Don`t like the view? Change the channel.
Comment by parolee malcolm
That might wash over if it weren’t for the fact that it’s NOT a war, but an illegal occupation.
Don’t like debate or opposing views? Well then, change the channel…
February 4th, 2007 at 10:08 amNah, the fire came from above.
February 4th, 2007 at 10:30 amNo freakin crap!!!!!!!!!!
Newsflash…. Theres an ongoing effort to target US Soldiers too !
Thats what happens when you invade another country…. they try to kill you…
And bravo !!!!!!
I hope they 5000 this month, so we can leave , and stop spending money.
Maybe if Iraq gets worse it might stop the impending war on Iran.
Otherwise we’ll be saying:
“theres an ongoing effort to target our Aircraft carriers”
February 4th, 2007 at 10:34 amActually, I think anything that moves is a target. Not, just helicopters, but small children, little old ladies, weary old men, etc.-
February 4th, 2007 at 10:51 amNo shit.

So, the ones that care about peace? Aren’t these the same one that authorized the use of force?
Odd

And it has been very successful. The faulty parts that make them go down were assembled by me, Barfly.
I am a career drunk and do not belong in the business of assembling aircraft parts and similiar assemblies.
February 4th, 2007 at 1:53 pmThe Iraqi’s have watched our helicopters fly over their neighborhoods for almost 4 years. Is it any wonder they’re getting better at taking them down?
February 4th, 2007 at 1:57 pmDo they think that the insurents will just sit back and get shot at by said helicopters?

As soon as you invest in a God Damn spellchecker son, then I will answer your question.
Until then, you are just too stupid to be taken seriously.
