Business Week: “The budget recommends a $500 million reduction for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is the principal agency for protecting the health and safety of all Americans. Funding for the agency would total $5.76 billion. Grants to states for bioterrorism preparation would be reduced, and funding remains at current levels for preventing the nation’s leading health problems — heart disease and cancer.”
Just as we are about to send the Zimmerman telegragh 2 to mexico ,, thats real good news
February 5th, 2007 at 2:49 pmBush cuts crucial funding for homeland security.
That’s the Bush administration’s point: we’re fighting them over there, so spending money to protect us over here makes no sense; its redundant.
February 5th, 2007 at 2:52 pmBush proposes another tax cut of 1.9 TRILLION while waging two wars.

Gee willakers that thare Preznit is sure good CEO.
Comparisons with his previous four companies going bankrupt prior to politics is purely coincidental.
February 5th, 2007 at 2:57 pmIt isn’t as if Bush hasn’t previously treated Homeland Security as the proverbial red-headed step-child, since it’s inception . . . Nah, must be some other reason.
February 5th, 2007 at 2:58 pmSTUMP A CON, ASK ONE QUESTION
WHERE DID ALL THE MONEY GO?
http://www.bringhonorback.org/images/deficit.gif
To really hurt their brain remind them that the new record 35 BILLION China is spending on their military (less than 1/8 of ours) is all interest paid by USA TAXPAYERS on the 1.2 TRILLION BUSH BORROWED IN HIS FIRST TERM ALONE…..MORE THAN ALL OTHER PRESIDENTS COMBINED.
February 5th, 2007 at 3:01 pmIts too bad that the CDC isnt a major oil producer for our war on turism.
February 5th, 2007 at 3:02 pmIf it ain’t about makin war then its got to go. We don’t need any of that science gobbly-guk. Ain’t you ever hurd of the War on Terra?
February 5th, 2007 at 3:04 pmMeanwhile, Republicans in the Senate are using a procedural vote to block the non-binding resolution against Bush’s Escalation from even coming to the Senate floor for a debate.
Apparently, it is more important to protect Bush from embarrassment than it is to protect our kids from getting blown up.
February 5th, 2007 at 3:04 pmYour Conscience sez:
I’ve asked cons that question, and more and more frequently, I get the answer that the money didn’t go anywhere, because it was never there to begin with. Apparently, there never was a budget surplus under Clinton, and any claims to the contrary are propaganda catapulted by the vast left-wing conspiracy.
It’s very difficult to have a rational debate with a neocon, when they’ve mastered the art of doublethink to such a degree that they can state right to your face that black is white and night is day, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. In regular society, such self-deception is sufficient to get a person institutionalized, but in the neocon circles, it’s a positive boon.
February 5th, 2007 at 3:12 pmI guess these are part of the across-the-board spending cuts that Rogerx2 says we need in order to afford the tax cuts for the top 1%.
I’m glad Bush is only targeting frivolous expenses.
February 5th, 2007 at 3:20 pmAnd he’s just asked for another $24B for the military. Madman.
February 5th, 2007 at 3:24 pmcurrent levels for preventing the nation’s leading health problems — heart disease and cancer.â€
Naturally, No money in cures. One more nail in the coffin of Pro-Life Hypocritical party aka Rape-Public-Cans. Why adrress and invest in something we can hasten?
Never exactly understood why Bush is complying with OBL’s stated objective of financial ruin on Colonial ambitions.
Imagine, for one moment, two completely full 767 colliding mid-air and falling to the earth every twenty four hours seven days a week, 365 days a year we lose the the same amount of Americans we lose to heart disease and cancer.
No thats not important, lets pour all out treasury and lives into fighting a tactic.
Sad seeing what was once a great Nation rot from the neck up.
February 5th, 2007 at 3:28 pmA. Feckin. Mazing.
February 5th, 2007 at 3:29 pmWhy cut funding for the CDC? Weren’t we supposed to be terrified of an anthrax outbreak at one point?
What an un-American tool that Bush is.
February 5th, 2007 at 3:46 pm***Muahahaha!*** I can’t believe this.
Is he trying to get level with the remains of the Soviet Union?
Some kind of post-cold-war race to the bottom?
“Developed Nation is soooooo Yesterday. Real Men deal with Tuberculosis.”
February 5th, 2007 at 3:57 pmwe got bird flu on the horizon… keep the people unaware…
February 5th, 2007 at 3:59 pmrummy needs the stock returns…

….oy.
February 5th, 2007 at 4:03 pmanother act of treason. we can not abolish the death penalty for those that are killing thousands of people every day by their actions or inactions.
February 5th, 2007 at 4:03 pmI noticed that, Spudge. The Repuke blowhard at work was bloviating about what a great job Bush has done in protecting our country and I was glad to remind him and ask how the investigation is going.
February 5th, 2007 at 4:15 pmWha… But, I thought that Bush wanted to make the homeland safe for all good Christian people…, so that we can go to church, protest stem cell research, gays in the schools, liberals in the government… and stuff like that.
February 5th, 2007 at 4:36 pmLib in NM,
You’re just stuck in pre-election thinking….
February 5th, 2007 at 4:38 pmZooey- Oh, yeah -I forgot…
February 5th, 2007 at 4:43 pmLib in NM,
Yeah, we can forget all that crap now — just like Chimpy did. :)
