“U.S. Marine Gen. Peter Pace admitted to the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday equipment will be a problem when U.S. forces in Iraq are increased. … Pace said the military has about 41,000 armored vehicles in Iraq — fewer than will be needed ‘to cover all of the troops that are deploying.’ Pace said it will be July before enough equipment is in place.”
Pace will be spending more time with family with that kind of talk.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — A man sentenced to death in Kuwait for the 1983 bombings of the U.S. and French embassies now sits in Iraq’s parliament as a member of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s ruling coalition, according to U.S. military intelligence.

February 6th, 2007 at 7:47 pmSo Bush’s new strategy is to send more troops to Iraq equipped less adequately than ever before. Brilliant. Absolutely, f***ing brilliant.
February 6th, 2007 at 7:47 pmso, he finally admitted what was reported imediately after the escalation was announced…
February 6th, 2007 at 7:48 pmhuh…
but we can’t stop now! hell no! … jeesh…
Maybe the troops can call a taxi.
Bye, Gen Pace.
February 6th, 2007 at 7:56 pmYou escalate a war with the army you have, not the army you wish you have.
It doesn’t matter that Bush’s War in Iraq has been going on since March 2003 and that the Republican led Congress rubber-stamped everything Bush asked for. Any shortage of equipment is due to incompetence on the part of the troops in the field, not Bush or the Secretary of Defense.
Oh, and remember the incident early on in the War, where the troops in the field improvised up-armoring their vehicles? They were court-martialed for that. We can’t have the troops deciding how best to save their lives. That decision belongs to The Decider.

The 1914 Russian army got by with one rifle between 5 soldiers. Wait until the guy with the gun gets shot, then hand it to the next one….they kept that up for three years? Besides, Iraq is awash in Kalashnikovs, how hard can it be? /sarcasm off

February 6th, 2007 at 8:26 pmWhy not issue up-armored bicycles? Each and every Kmart store can supply the basic vehicle for an entire platoon. Worry later about the armor. Broom sticks could surfice for rifles. Paint those gun metal grey so the insurgents would never notice the difference as long as the tips are painted black. W could supervise the surge from Marine 1, valient commander that he is. (Just be sure that Cheney is his co-pilot.)

On 911 The WTC buildings were demolitioned by explosives placed the weekend before 911. Who did this? Will we ever know? Will there ever be a completely independant (non political) and scientific investigation so we can find out WHO demolitioned these buildings? Was it Al Qeada some how? Others? Who? We all saw the building implode not fall over….

February 6th, 2007 at 8:33 pmThe Democrats’ plan is to run for office in 08 – right Hilary?
Yesterday – the Senate refused to debate Iraq.
Today – they passed a bipartisan resolution naming Feb 6 ‘Ronald Reagan Day’
Any question? Oh and happy Ronald Reagan Day to all
February 6th, 2007 at 8:42 pmWhat’s the plan: to send more trolls and pedophiles to Iraq? I fully endorse that idea and I’m sure all good neo-con Nazis would, as well. Thier lactating breasts and quick, acid tongues could do wonders for a lagging weaponry stockpile.

I would like to see Ronald Reagan rise from the grave… kick hilary right in the nuts.. and then bitch slap bush right out of the white house and then take his place at “The Desk”… yes that is right.. even the corpse of Ronald Reagan would be a better leader than this imbecile that fate so cruelly thrust apon us.
February 6th, 2007 at 8:47 pmHappy Wonald Weagan Day! I would wike to announce that I am also twowing my hat into the wing as a candy-date for 2008. Ewect me, Elmer Fudd, for pwesident!
February 6th, 2007 at 8:48 pmSorry Gerald, but the Nicaraugans and Guatemalans killed in the 1980s thanks to your man put in a suit. Ronnie didn’t make bail so he’s here for a bit. Pick someone else.
Actually, you could have Augusto Pinochet – military man, good english speaker (years of house arrest in England – watched a lot of Alan Partridge he says).
February 6th, 2007 at 8:55 pmThat’s OK….there’s not enough troops for the surge either.

I wont deny it. its history… It happened ..
He probably could have stoped it if he really wanted to… that was bad.
He also seemed to be a person obsessed with his money and felt he wanted to fight taxes for every last penny even though that money helps maintain our society… and that is why we all pay it.
But then I also think…
1) He talked man to man to the leader of Russia instead of hiding behind Cheney like a pussy saying over and over, “I wont talk to them until ….”
2) Berlin Wall… not all his doing but we all know how that went down.
3) He was a mostly honest person (which must be why the neocons didnt trust/like him) that got the RUSSIANS to …
4) reduce nuclear stockpiles because of that trust. Russia even eventually let us take their nuclear fuel to protect it from falling into the wrong hands.
5) STAR WARS… the idea to be able to shoot down any ballistic missle even hundreds or thousands at a time … anywhere around the globe…. well… that neutralizes all nukes now doesnt it… and would do humanity a favor. If we have to be unilateral about anything it would be about shooting down any missle shot by any country at any other country. period.
But ya a mixed character for sure.

I have hosted websites before and it baffles me that they cannot stop the lunatic “the Rachel” from posting it’s insanity. Rachel really and truly is a demented person who is seriously conflicted by the orwellian media and its physcological spin.
Turn off the TV ‘the Rachel’ and stop listening to Rush radio. It is not truth, it is not wisdom, it is just ludicrous blame game banter meant to confuse the complex issues at hand.
I’d go for that — if it was a day off, too.

February 6th, 2007 at 9:23 pmReagan stalled study into Aids funding and research and let millions of people die from that dreaded disease that might have had a fighting chance, otherwise. He was demented and his mind was failing, even while holding official office. Reagan was better than Bush, but even Nixon was better than Reagan. Anyway- There’re all a bunch of crooked psychopaths that don’t deserve the time of day, let alone an official day of remembrance.

Paid holiday…..even for people who aren’t working. :)
And lots of sales at the shopping mall — things like jelly beans, astrology books, economics books, fake cowboy hats, soft pillows for napping, hair gel stuff, tanning product, etc.
That would make it easier than ever to stay away from the mall. :P

Since you are on the Reagan subject (sorry for the derail, call me Jason)… but here’s the text of the article I found:
U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard Honors Former President Ronald Reagan
Senate Passes Legislation to Make February 6, 2007, “Ronald Reagan Dayâ€
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.) announced today that the U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan resolution honoring our nation’s 40th president, Ronald Reagan, by officially declaring February 6, 2007, “Ronald Reagan Day.†U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) co-sponsored the resolution.
“Today, on what would have been his 96th birthday, we praise the life and accomplishments of the Great Communicator,†said Allard. “President Ronald Reagan was a man who meant so much to so many through his noble efforts to spread the ideals of democracy around the world.â€
“Ronald Reagan dared to do the impossible, not because it was easy but because it had to be done,†said Allard. “His is a legacy that we will always cherish. I remain firm in my admiration of this great leader whose integrity was always unquestioned.â€
Two US soldiers died this first Ronald Reagan Day.
February 6th, 2007 at 10:03 pmSo Bush will deploy more troops and they also will be short on equipment. What’s changed?
February 6th, 2007 at 10:10 pmDo they learn anything?

February 7th, 2007 at 10:52 amIf Pace is saying the it will be until July before there is suficient equipment available for this surge AND our Congress allows these troops to be deployed after BEING TOLD that they would not have sufficient equipment then every single one of them who doesn’t vote to stop this should be taken out back and shot for dereliction of duty.
THEY WILL ESSENTIALLY BE DIRECTLY TELLING OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN THAT THEIR LIVES ARE NOT AS IMPORTANT AS POLITICS.
It is times like this when I wish GOD was real so that he could SMOTE these phkrs where they stand (or should I say.. sit on their fat asses)
February 7th, 2007 at 12:31 pmI think this surge deal is all about a staging area for the “Big Iranian Invasion” after we soften them up with a few nukes. God I hope this does’nt happen
