Scientists protest influence of Bush political appointees.

Members of the “EPA’s science advisory panel on air pollution voiced strong concerns today about the Bush administration’s recent directive to expand the power of political appointees over the panel’s work. … The new policy essentially strips the panel of its fundamental advisory role with EPA staff scientists as they compile and disseminate the latest findings on pollutants — like ozone, particulate matter or lead — and human health.” (via Greenwire, subscription required)

Why would the Bush cabal start listening to specialist now? He hasn’t in the past. I’ll bet some of these dumb a$$es voted for Bush. That is the funny thing. Bush isn’t just taking democrats outta the loop. Not everybody is a democrat. So, the way I see it is 28% of these people are repeating what they sowed.

Congress: Time to take off the kid gloves and roll up your sleeves…
Bush’s tactic is to suckerpunch, do a lot of fancy footwork and take his opponent off guard. Congress needs to do the same. F- bipartisanship.

  3. Grand Moff Texan says:

Conservatives don’t “do” science. Drooling superstitious freaks, no wonder they need to shut thinking people up.

What? The scientists are protesting Bush’s flatulence? Good. It’s about time.

Bush truly does not understand the concept of “public servant”…

Just another step on the way to becoming a dictatorship.

  7. nofltwlt says:

    All Americans listen up!

In other words Bush wants to poison us all. He and his buddies will make money while poisioning America and Americans and they will then make money cleaning up the mess.

    Impeach this ass-wipe.

  8. RUCerious says:

Is there any way congress can restrict funding for these cronies’ salaries?

  9. Gerald Gibson Jr says:

Who needs science anyways? We were doing just fine before the invention of toilets and toilet paper…. ya think about it for a minute…

Having read many of Gregor’s thoughtful arguments, I’m going to take a wild stab at this and assume an insane, ugly Bush cultist is masquerading as Gregor and thinks the above is funny or even powerful. How embarassingly pathetic. Trolls never get tired of this bullshit. When Bush cultists have no argument, they result to disgusting smears and tricks. What do they see when they look in the mirror? Boggles the mind.

Yes, but you can expect either a Republican Filibuster to keep the political appointees in place and in power to dictate Bush’s Science.

Or, Bush will (and I think this is highly likely) issue a signing statement on whatever budget is passed treating the budget as merely advisory, to the extent it infringes on his inherent constitutional authority as the Unitary Executive and Commander-in-Chief.

    They have no reflection.

The apple didn’t fall far from the family tree. Public service is not something understood or supported by the Bushies. If they and their friends don’t make a profit, they don’t do it.

  14. margaret says:

Just one more power grab from this bunch. (you know who)

They’re so blatant about it that you can’t help but wonder if they ever envision a future where they are not the ones IN power. All this power they’re amassing for the executive branch might come in handy for the next bunch.

  15. Jim says:

I just can’t wait for these incompetent, totally political clowns to be replaced in two years. The entire Bush administration is a national disgrace. The effects of their political agenda will, unfortunately, be with us for many years. If they a not just incompetent, they are most certainly criminal.
