I’m not Republican nor a fan of Bush, but I do like Tancredo.

So what if Tancredo was mistaken about a poll?

It’s not like he lied under oath (though I forgive Clinton ;) ) or lied us into a war and spied illegally on citizens.

From the little I’ve seen of Tancredo, he comes off as an unpolished, honest, regular American; a populist who speaks his mind. He’s intelligent and doesn’t preach hate as one would surmise from what has been said here. Yâ€™all make him out to be David Duke!

His points are valid: what holds this nation together? Are we a nation in any sense of the word at all? His ancestors came in, integrated, and became American. Italians arenâ€™t British like our founders, but he integrated in as did millions of other nonBritish immigrants. Immigrants today however donâ€™t desire to integrate as they once did. Perhaps itâ€™s because of the sheer numbers, but America has a serious problem.

Tancredo has also condemned race based caucuses because, well, theyâ€™re racist. Was he truly David Duke, he would commend the race based caucuses and establish his own white caucus. Tancredo wants Americans to lose their hyphenations and come together.

What’s there not to love about the guy? If we continue down the path we’re on now, America will split up into groups of squabbling minorities, whites included. Weâ€™ll be just like the Balkansâ€¦ wonâ€™t that be fun.

By the way, Al Gore’s record on immigration is nearly as good as Tancredo. I hope he runs since it looks like the president in 2008 will be a Dem.

I did an instant poll of ten friends here in Miami and 80% of them said it was third world. Margin of error +/- 0%.

Oh, and I particularly like that speculation that IF Salinas did contact the Miami Herald, and IF they had done the poll, they might have been mistaken.

Can you make a point based on known facts? There aren’t any in your post, except to say that Miami has more than one newspaper. Thanks for enlightening us on this key point.

I get a kick out of these intellectual cripples that come here and go through the motions as though they are actually debating something, when what they are saying is just so much noise.

And from what do you derive your credibility? Tancredo said it was the Miami Herald. It is in the public record, and you have stipulated to it as well. In order for your theory to work you have to presume that someone else is lying, but you haven’t provided a shred of evidence to that effect. And if that doesn’t work, then you move on to speculate that Tancredo said one thing, but actually meant another thing.

Yeah, you’ve laid down a lot of substance there, sport. Pretty lame try, if you ask me.

As for the post, believing its statements would require me to believe that Salinas is telling the truth (sorry, not willing to do that), or that if she did contact the Herald they werenâ€™t simply wrong (it could have been a quick online poll), or that Tancredo simply got the paper wrong. AFAIK, there are other papers in the Miami area.

An awful lot of “ifs” in there, sport. Maybe Salinas has a brain tumor causing her to behave irrationally, too. But maybe not. So why don’t you get back to us in 24 hours after you’ve researched the situation and tell us what you find.

Funny how Ms Salinas notes how the Cuban community in Miami are mostly “political” refugees, and not “undocumented immigrants”. The simple fact is that Cubans “fleeing” the Castro regime are given a pass that no other Latin-American immigrant can ever get.
When Salvadorans and Guatemalans were fleeing oppresive right-wing regimes (and those regimes’ death squads) back in the 1980s, they were “economic” refugees. Haitians fleeing years of political chaos were turned away (or arrested upon landing) because they were deemed “economic” refugees. But Cubans, well, they were fleeing “political oppression” at the hands of a hated Communist enemy. Of course, the first Cuban “refugees” weren’t exactly fleeing simply because of politics, but their support of the right-wing, mob-controlled Batista regime which oppressed the Cuban poor for over a decade prior (the regimes before Batista were as bad) and were economically quite well off. Had it not been the bad policy of the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, carrying on the bad policy instituted by the Eisenhower administration, determined to eradicate Communism from the Western Hemisphere (and, worse, our immediate “back yard”), and worked with the Castro government from the outset, Castro wouldn’t have needed to rely so heavily on the USSR (he did increase Cuban-Soviet trade in all areas, but Castro didn’t intend for the Soviets to be his sole support; Castro wasn’t doing much different than Nehru and Nasser were doing during the same period). Had Castro not been turned into the Western Hemisphere’s pariah by the US, the Cuban economy wouldn’t be so abysmal (which, it should be noted, has rated as a primary reason for so many of the “refugees” in the past 20 years; Cuban “refugees” are only allowed entry if they claim “political asylum”, otherwise they have to have an established “sponsor”).
Now, this doesn’t mean that Tancredo is anything less than a bigoted cretin, but I do get a bit tired of the immigration policy hypocrisy when it comes to the Cuban community.

When you post things like this, should you really be surprised that all you get are childish comments? Does even one of those comments above have any real content whatsoever? Do you think this makes you look like anything but a bathroom wall?

In a recent poll taken in the Southwest 100% of those polled were fervently in favor of impeachment of the entire bushco. The margin of error was +/- 0%. The only thing missing from the above is sample size. It was an unbiased, objective study of three dedicated Bush-Bashers and has as much validity as Tancredo’s poll. In his defense, those people who said no poll existed have no credibility because they have no way of knowing the poller or pollees. They can say they knew of no such poll and may or may not have made a true statement. To say there was no poll is beyond their knowledge.
