Gore to launch global warming concert series.

Al Gore is set to launch a series of concerts “bigger than Live Aid” planned for July “in a bid to put the subject of climate change before an audience of a global audience of 2bn. The event, scheduled for July 7, will feature co-ordinated film, music and television events in seven cities including London, Washington DC, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town and Kyoto, with major broadcasters and media owners aiming to extend the reach of public awareness of global warming.”

I wonder how much electricity that will use. How much gas to transport all the equipment?

  2. Kevin says:

I wonder if anyone will sing about how warm the sun is?

  3. Gabe says:

Better to use it now trying to prevent the whole mess instead of letting it just continue…

  4. ForTruth says:

Kevin I saw your comment before I saw it. Jeez, strawdude.

They are going to have all the attendees sit and ride energy-generating staionary bikes to power the show. They will have horses and donkeys haul the equipment.

    Ass.

  5. OxyCon says:

Rightfull President Gore better be prepared for the Swiftboating sh*tstorm the right wingnuts are going to cook up over his benefit concert events.
The wingnuts will be counting every plane ride, every limosuine ride, all the electricity usage and all the garbage produced from these concerts, and it’s all going to be plastered onto Matt Drudge’s dumping ground in one giant smear attack on Gore.
Gore’s concert planners better get ahead of this right away and make every aspect of these events as green as possible. Enlist the help of Robert Kennedy Jr. and the NRDC with the planning and promoting.

Funniest thing I’ve seen all day.

  9. Kevin says:

I hope they use a lot of pyro. Nothing like a lot of fireworks at a concert.

  10. Anonymous By Choice says:

Live 8 SUCKED because it was free, and at the end of the day, the streets were covered in trash.

They wanted to just raise AWARENESS?! Give me a break. They needed to SELL TICKETS to make money to help their cause… but they didn’t. They didn’t make 1/1000th of the money they could have to help their cause. And they trashed cities, and ran up electricity usage in the process. Sickening.

Al Gore needs to sell tickets. And they better make a damn good effort to stop people from littering.

  11. Liberal in New Mexico says:

This is what the real President is going to do to HELP America, while the fake President is helping himself TO America. You’re a good guy, Al.

  12. Alex says:

I would hate to see the global warming concert turn into somekind of violent protest or revoloution……

    That would be terrible……….

You should ask Bush, Cheney and Halliburton, as your side seems to be the one that violates it most often.

Then you haven’t seen Bush in a flight suit, or had him referred to as a ‘Veteran’ or ‘Compassionate’.

You conservatives should really avoid humor, as much as you avoid fatty foods. Both just make you look stupid.

Kevin thinks it’s amusing that a country that wants to spread ‘democracy’ around the world, appoints a leader that ‘loses’ the popular vote to the presidency. Now that’s funny!

It’s also typical, of the right wing brand of shallow idiocy that Kevin is here to promote. He isn’t funny, witty, or even intelligent – but that won’t stop him from pretending, any more than it stops Bush from pretending his PIG farm is a ranch!

All by myself, sorry, but only your party has aspirations of fascism. I’m satisfied pointing out your hypocrisy, and how defeatist you are about a system that ‘works’, while being imperfect and in the case of Bush, anti-democratic.

Then again, you’re a right wingnut, so anti-democratic comes natural to you :)

What’s really sad, is that someone that claims to be so capitalistic would ‘need’ this assistance. While competence is something that I will neither expect from your questions or your answers, I’ll help you out anyway.

    I’ll give you several examples.

    1) No bid contracts – Halliburton, etc..
    2) Prohibiting the market negotiations for drugs by medicare.
    3) Subsidies and tax breaks to entrenched industries to prevent alternative competitors (big oil).

I could go on all day, but you’ll just deny, ignore and blather no matter what I write. You trolls prefer to ignore the contributions of fine Americans like Al Gore, and instead dedicate your entire efforts to lies, smears and the destruction of the American system and the global ecology.

Why, because you aren’t smart enough to know how UNsmart you are.

It helps for a conservative to also have low self esteem, and a healthy habit of projecting their own emotions on others. By ‘hate’ would that be anything like calling democrats anti-capitalist, or ‘hate spewers’?

I can see you have a long history of inhabiting glass houses, that could explain how that glass shard has severed your critical thinking.

Sorry friend, but that’s a bad idea, that we ‘open-minded’ people looked at thoroughly and completely, and we’ll pass. It’s much more likely to introduce abuse, scams and an unfair system that would penalize everyone but the rich. It’s much worse than what we already have – sad huh?

  64. Kevin says:

Al Gore didn’t win the election and needs to chill the f*** out. It really is pathetic how he has to turn to Hollywood to get back in the spotlight with his “original idea” of a pollution movie. Pollution has been a problem for a really long time and people really don’t give a damn. Al Gore picked an easy topic to b**** and moan about just so he could get some attention. Now he’s throwing a benefit concert for pollution so he can pretend like he’s making a difference and get some more attention. I’ll worry about pollution when he proves he did in fact invent the internet.

  65. Jim Bob says:

The solution is obvious: just build windmills to offset all the carbon that will be produced.

But seriously, staying home and reading by candlelight isn’t going to stop global warning. You need to spend money to make money, so to speak. Except with carbon.

  66. You got a pretty mouth boy says:

The world must act now in many ways and America should take the lead on something that matters for once (although in most cases it is starting from the back of the pack).
Stop producing gas gussling over sized pointless cars.
Put up the price of fuel America must travel by automobile less. The automobile industry must be made to look to non petrol fueled engines.
Health policy must attempt to reduce the obesity epidemic. Become more active as a nation it will save billions of dollors on healthcare that could be invested into green projects via charitable donations from health insurance firms.
Think of all the fireworks set off every 4th of July, and new year (worldwide) for example – plenty of environmental damage there when all added together and all in all they are both a waste of time.
Ban the sale of guns, why does anybody need these products? America would be a safer place without them and they are wasting resources. Come to think of it most of the world would be safer because of it, a significant percentage of black market guns originate from America.
Leave that muppet Bush alone on the streets of Iraq or perhaps Afganistan let him see what he has created and see if he makes it out alive – hopefully not.
Rumours are abound that that idiot wants to go to war with another country – great another nations children growing up hating the US and its allies which may lead to more terrorist attacks in the future no doubt. How much pollution is created firstly in firing all those missles and secondly in making them in the first place.
Inefficient industries should never be protected by any means in a free market economy only the most cost effective and all round efficient production methods will survive. It does not matter if an industry cannot survive in one country another will be better at producing it and will be able to sell it to you for a better price than you could produce it for.
Why sell anything in packaging that cannot be recycled where there are clear alternatives? Penalise the companies for this stupidity!
Finally to end my rant in an ideal world why have religion? What has it ever amounted to? War and fighting! Science has proven for a start that religion is based on false beliefs. This does not mean we should all look to that prat Tom Crusie and all these scientology nutters, many of their beliefs are a touch bizarre for even the most open minded individual!

  67. Brent Heigold says:

Global warming is the biggest hoax ever invented.

Which makes Al Gore a total loser.

The fact that Gore chickened out on a chance to JUST LET BJORN LOMBORG EVEN SHOW UP AT HIS INTERVIEW, let alone cancel it, goes to show that Gore knows that his documentary is a hoax.

Moving on, forget about the electricity being used to put on the concert, or the limousines, its just going to be a really tacky event.

The whole point is that he lost the election to an oil man, so he’s going to spend the rest of his life trying to score political points against Bush.

    Its just tacky.

What a total loser. There is no bigger loser than Gore.

    Brent Heigold.

    INTRODUCE SOME UNSIGNED ARTISTS

  69. Foster Jones says:

Seems to me like we have a bunch of uninformed neo-cons complaining about things they know nothing about. Especially Mr. Heigold sir are you a scientist? i doubt it. Do you know that every single credible science board agrees global warming is happening? Also Al Gore has been talking about global warming and doing his lecture on global warming for over 20 years, you were just to busy watching fox news to realize this. Maybe if you paid more attention to real life facts like mathmatic and science and not what your media outlet and god tell you, you would know that this is not a new issue. You people think this is a new issue because you havent been paying attention to scholarly sources, you have just been paying attention to your TV and now that global warming is on your TV you thinks its a new issue, well its not, its real, its been around and Gore along with many other poloticians have been talking about it since Reagan took over your minds!!!
