according to Colorado state Sen. David Schultheis (R): How do doctors “determine that a person actually did incur that sexual assault. Are they going to take the word of that individual? You could see individuals coming in that just wanted to make sure that last night’s stand didn’t result in a pregnancy and basically say that they had been a sexual assault” to get the contraceptive.
Just don’t blame me, Jason did it.
February 8th, 2007 at 3:33 pmThey can do a forensic exam and usually determine if there was an assault. Just sayin’. That’s a risky approach to take.
February 8th, 2007 at 3:34 pmSay, Senator, sounds like you get around…nudge nudge-wink wink-know what I mean-know what I mean?
February 8th, 2007 at 3:38 pmDoes he also believe that Republican Men that are sexually assaulted should have an examination before they can be given emergency AIDS treatment drugs? Or is his bigotry limited solely to sexism?
February 8th, 2007 at 3:38 pmwell, that wouldn’t be a problem if one was not attempting to restrict access to emergency contraception. Accept it, people are going to have sex whether you agree with it or not. If you don’t agree with it, don’t do it and let other people live their life. Don’t regulate peoples lives to force them to be within your own.
February 8th, 2007 at 3:39 pmhere’s an idea…how about just give emergency contraception to those that need it?
February 8th, 2007 at 3:40 pmDisgusting, just like a Republican man. Why do they think that everyone is out to work the system?
February 8th, 2007 at 3:40 pmColorado state Sen. David Schultheis (R): How do doctors “determine that a person actually did incur that sexual assault. Are they going to take the word of that individual?
Just off the top of my head, I would say that a police report and a physical exam might be two ways to determine that.
And I didn’t even break a sweat.
February 8th, 2007 at 3:41 pmthis is what happends when crazy christians get to make choices for us.
PRO CHOICE = PRO FREEDOM
February 8th, 2007 at 3:41 pmI’m sorry, but I don’t understand.
I thought that if a woman went to the doctor and asked for emergency contraception they would be given a prespcription for it.
He makes it appear that women can only get it if they’ve been sexually assaulted.
HUH?
February 8th, 2007 at 3:44 pmI live in Colorado. The new law he is referring to does not make hospitals provide EC. It only makes them inform the victim about it. So, he’s even crazier then he sounds. Our previous Gov., a catholic rethug, vetoed this twice
February 8th, 2007 at 3:46 pmLast time I checked, it was a crime to report a false crime. I don’t think if a women reports a fake rape to gain access to the morning after pill, eventually the truth will come out. It always does.
February 8th, 2007 at 3:46 pmThis Senator is basically clueless on this issue, because his expert advisors up to this point have been Rev. Dobson and Pastor Ted…….
February 8th, 2007 at 3:47 pmWhat’s wrong with these conservatives in Colorado? They seriously lack morals, ethics and brains. It’s like when God said “NOSE”, these conservatives thought he said “ROSE”, and said: I want a big, red one!
February 8th, 2007 at 3:50 pmDisgusting, just like a Republican man. Why do they think that everyone is out to work the system?
Comment by SKdeA — February 8, 2007 @ 3:40 pm
Because the Republicans are, so obviously everyone else is too.
Why is this even an issue? So what if someone claims they were raped to get emergency contraception. Unless they’re selling them back on the street, what, exactly is the problem… I mean besides violating the Republican notion that contraception is bad?
February 8th, 2007 at 3:50 pmThe more I hear about this issue, the more I think that conservatives are TRULY in la-la land… I really cannot understand what they are thinking. My thoughts: Get out of the emergency situation first… if that means a condom or the morning after Plan B pill… so be it… then worry about the emotional/spiritual consequences (which are none in the case of rape/incest/coercion).
February 8th, 2007 at 3:52 pmRepublicans only think contraception is bad when white people use it.
February 8th, 2007 at 3:57 pmSexual assault isn’t the only reason for someone to need emergency contraception. How about if a married couple is using condoms and they discover, after the fact, that one had leaked? Wouldn’t that be an appropriate use for one?
Not that anyone should have to give a reason. I’m just trying to help out this obviously brain-damaged Sen. Schultheis. He’s having so much difficulty thinking.
February 8th, 2007 at 3:58 pmif they would stop trying to cram their religous interpretations on all of us there would be no issue. Didn’t Jesus advise us not to judge other lest we be judged. Why can’t they seem to remember that very basic teaching?
February 8th, 2007 at 4:03 pm#19 m3vega
because that would mean they couldn’t believe they were better than others …. and they wouldn’t have anything to do with their lives anymore since calling out immoral sinners is what defines their being
February 8th, 2007 at 4:12 pmHe needs to placed in an exam room…feet in stirrups..and have a speculum inserted in his ass.
February 8th, 2007 at 4:13 pmRepublicans only think contraception is bad when white people use it.

Exactly correct.
Georgia Cracker Society
Also ForTruth,
What is it exactly that you do not want me to reveal about yourself to this site?
Are you nervous what I found on your hard drive?
Back off cracker, or I will post what you don`t want people to find out.
hmmm…I sense a little money making proposition coming up.
How much is it worth to you cracker?
To not reveal all?
Can I name my price?
I believe I can.
Heres the deal if not money.
ValiantVenusGrewFromUranus
TP does something immediately about this name?
Or YOU will regret it.
I will dangle YOU out there amongst your rat buddies and see if they do not eat you alive.
What will it be champ?
I suggest you read the Webb thread for more clues on who I am.
February 8th, 2007 at 4:16 pmafter the fact, that one had leaked? Wouldn’t that be an appropriate use for one?
February 8th, 2007 at 4:19 pmFor people like Schultheis no. The whole abortion debate was the thin end of the wedge for them. They hate anything that gives a woman control over her body artificial contraception most of all.
The ignorance prevailing among those determined to outlaw contraception is astonishing.
February 8th, 2007 at 4:25 pmSomeone, please take the Senator from Oregon aside and educate him about medical examinations relative to rape. His comments are an insult to emergency room staff, not to mention the victim (who, I might add, can be female or male).
thats not how you get emergancy contraception at all! this guy has NO IDEA what he’s even talking about! Damn
February 8th, 2007 at 4:37 pmGood thing FaceBook is not called FaceMirror
It would have broken along time ago, or as soon as TP posters starting posting their mugs.
Are all Dems this fycking ugly?
Ick!!
February 8th, 2007 at 4:37 pmJust like the Christianist neocons to treat women in the same manner as the oxen and asses to which their Bible compares us, for the sake of determining what is not covetable…
Sheesh!
February 8th, 2007 at 4:39 pmIck!!

How freaking miserable are you?
You are as obvious as it gets, no matter how many pseudonyms you post under. We know it’s you.
A person would have to be really desperate and pathetic to post the vitriol that you post day after day after day.
Do yourself and all of us a favor – get a life.
February 8th, 2007 at 4:47 pmThe troll claims to be so computer saavy, but refuses to tell me basic stuff about my computer usage. I ask what operating system(s) I use. It won’t answer.
February 8th, 2007 at 5:18 pmOh great… so someone has to be charged with a crime just so women can get contraceptives. It doesn’t get dumber than that.
February 8th, 2007 at 5:19 pmI think the troll “knows someone” who is technically saavy, and trys to sound saavy.
And Rachel, if you really worked for the NSA and get paid handsomely, I don’t think you could get away with flagrant abuse of that power. You are blowing the NSA cover and violating the rules of your employment.
February 8th, 2007 at 5:20 pmRachel/Santo tried to pull that crap in the past. When you call him/her on his/her empty fear mongering tactics, it suddenly shuts the hell up… Hmmm… Perhaps we are on to something here…. :D
February 8th, 2007 at 5:23 pmGeorgia Drive by crackers… don’t you get it? Nobody gives a rats ass who you really are.
February 8th, 2007 at 5:25 pmThe troll that claims to work for NSA should not be blogging… this troll is violating national security by blowing their cover.

My thoughts exactly. If you don’t restrict the use of the morning after pill, then you won’t have people abusing some arbitrary rules in order to get what they need. Why do institutions keep making women have to jump through so many high hoops just to have a choice?
February 8th, 2007 at 5:42 pmWe also should also outlaw theft insurance, because how can we tell that a person isn’t lying about their property being stolen just in order to collect a check from the insurance company?
February 8th, 2007 at 5:53 pmI fake hunger to get an emergency food box.
February 8th, 2007 at 5:58 pmI fake abstinence, so I can get laid :)
February 8th, 2007 at 6:08 pmThis is ridiculous. Why should a woman “fake rape” to get emergency contraception when it’s available without a prescription? That senator sounds absolutely hysterical.
February 8th, 2007 at 6:21 pmThis is utterly ridiculous. Why would anyone “fake rape” to get a drug which is available without a prescription? Why would anyone “fake rape” when they could just go to Planned Parenthood and get a dose of emergency contraception for free, dispensed by friendly, understanding people? That senator sounds like a pervy kook. A pervy, uninformed kook.
February 8th, 2007 at 6:23 pmIf some one is truly opposed to abortion, they should not allow exceptions for rape or incest. To do so is to make a judgement not on whether abortion is right or wrong, but to make a judgement on what kind of sex preceeded the pregnancy. Ergo, anyone who claims to be pro-life, but is willing to allow exceptions for rape or incest (I believe that would be most ‘pro-life’ politicians) is a hypocrite. So why listen to them at all – Gloria Steinhem had it right, “If men got pregrant, abortion would be a sacrament.’
February 8th, 2007 at 6:26 pmHow can anyone not wince at the misogyny and stupidity of this man?
February 8th, 2007 at 6:39 pm40 – Pervy uninformed kooks are exactly who should be minding the business of your uterus – don’t you know anything?
I’m going to put a realistic statue of an embryo out in my yard and worship it, to see whether any of those people who are so damned worried about embryo-rights can even recognize one when they see it.
Pro-lifers are the most hysterical kind of kook, and I am way overtired of seeing-hearing about them in the news while our Democracy circles the drain……
February 8th, 2007 at 8:07 pmI had sex with Rachel. Don’t do it unless it is Friday. The fish fry covers up the smell.
February 8th, 2007 at 8:49 pmTP, you had better not delete my last post unless you delete all of Rachel’s.
February 8th, 2007 at 8:50 pmBesides the brutal butchering of the English language at the hands of the Senator, there really seems to be no end to the idiocy coming out of the mouths of some.
