NYT: “Some Republicans were put off by the flight fight. ‘This is a bunch of baloney,‘ said Representative Ray LaHood, Republican of Illinois, who said he had flown on Mr. Hastert’s military plane. ‘Next week,’ Representative Jeff Flake, Republican of Arizona, said, ‘we are going to steal their mascot and short-sheet their beds.’”

Gee Vince, Hastert used his plane for political purposes – which is against the guidelines issued to Pelosi for traveling on military aircraft. I’ll bet you’re just brimming with outrage over his misuse of military aircraft for political purposes, eh?

How different it would have been if she had quite publicly chosen to fly coach and used it to educate the public as to the necessity to keep down CO2 emissions and reduce the federal deficit.
While Fox news would have whined endlessly about such an act, they would have been (unknowingly) educating their thick headed viewers about the need to change our habits and about the virtue of Democrats.
Such stupidity–a tragedy really.

1- about the ongoing Pelosi “contraversy”.
2- about the fact that the US Air Force will only have one 757 aircraft to share among all VIP’s for the near future. (On a good day, there are 4 available).
The second article makes mention of how Rice and Cheney will be competing tooth-and-nail for that airplane, but does not make reference to Pelosi.
What I see here is further evidence of office politics. Someone, somewhere in the Executive Branch seems to have leaked and smeared Pelosi in an interest to preserve Cheney’s or Rice’s claim to that aircraft.
What PETTY PETTY office politics have we!

Who the hell appropriated money for making or buying this plane for the pentagon in the first place? It is already there for God’s sake! Punish her for doing what those have done before her have done. This issue is skewed. I f people have a problem with the money being spent on her, get to the core of the issue! Supposedly, it was HE who leaked the rumor to FOX News. Now, of course, the Repubs are circling overhead crying foul, that Nancy is doing all of this to herself as a publicity stunt.
