The only plausible explanation for the policy of the Bush Administratin in the Middle East is malevolent intent. Discount that possibility and the whole picture is confusing. Consider the possibility of malevolent intent and everything falls into place. So, if you want to be rational as opposed to blindly partisan, you have to seriously consider the possibility that the Bush Administration is driven by malevolent intent.

Talking to people like Vince does no good. Vince wants to beleive in a vast islamic conspiracy that threatens us all, no matter how little evidence there is. 9-11 killed less people than an average week of violence in america does. In the past 20 years, slipping in the bathtub has killed about 10 times as many americans as muslims have. Every form of WMD, with the exception of smallpox and nuclear weapons, are, logisitically, incredibly ineffective weapons. Anyone whose looked into the science of them understands this. The psychological fear they create is far more powerful than thier actual effects. Smallpox and nukes both take the scientific and intellectual resources of an actual nation to create, and the idea that a state would risk annihilation by turning over such weapons to stateless, unpredictable and uncontrollable fanatics is so absurd it borders on fantasy.
We’re living in an Orwell novel these days, and people like vince are the enabling cattle that trod along blindly, listening to the words of Big Brother and being utterly convinced of thier truth, no matter how many of their lies become apparent. “We know where the weapons are.” “We know without a doubt that Saddam was weapons of mass destruction.” “The united states faces a grave threat [from men without tanks, planes, long range missles, or an organized army].”

Doesnt matter what Bush says, people like vince will beleive. Dont even waste your time arguing with the guy, he will never under any circumstances admit he or Bush is wrong, or that Bush says things he knows isnt true just to take us into war. His “lets not talk about the violence in my book of fairytales”, lets just talk about the violence in the brown peoples book of fairytales, argument shows his complete and utter inability to put himself in other peoples shoes. People like vince who blindly obey what their leaders tell them are basically a perfect example of how the holocaust was able to happen. He’s ignorant, probably white trash, and refuses to examine the concept of hipocracy as it applies to his own idealogy and method of thinking.

how do plan to destroy a belief. You can only show a better interpertation of the belief or showing him there is more to his belief. Also people in power do not want masses to be librated. Religion has been used as a mnd control tool for ages. Don’t think people in power are ignorant, they are using religion also. Also a countires elected officials are not representaton of public opnion. Only 5% of the population may be radical .We cannot harm the 95% because of that. Yes refrom has to come within not from outside. Thats why violence will not reform it. This applies to radicalism in all form in all religion.

kaes: The United States will never be able to “solve” Islamic radicalism. That’s something that has to come from inside Islam. Now if you see my points above, the odds of that happening are very slim because Islam does not allow itself to undergo such radical reexamation. It’s a religion about Submission, not questioning, being part of a tribe, anti-individualism.

It’s been 1,400 years that this ideology has been on earth, and it’s really no different now than it was then. I think it’s safe to conclude that Earth wont survive another 1,400 years of this ideology. If it wont reform itself, then it must destroyed.

i am not tearing anyone. I am pointing out icoherent in policies that causes
long term issues. One person cannot fight radicalism like a country and institutions can. We cannot make other people grow up overnight but
we can create the environment that helps them grow. If we impinge on the free will of other people they will impinge on ours. Of course we need to defend us from harm any shape of form . I don’t think we are so weak. In martail art the fighting skills are used in only self-defence not going out and causing trouble or invite problesm and fight them later. With power also comes responsibility to use it wisely.

in order to fight radicalism you have to fight with knowledge. It does not
help if you say you support democracy at the same time we try to dislodge democratic elected governments. We also support auto-cratic ,monarchy in the middle east but selective democracy in few countries. Also disarment
works only if all partys mutually reduce arms. You cannot say to your neighbor you cannot have nuclear technology while you have few thousand nuclear thousands warheards. 500 Billion would be well spent if we spend the money on education ,religious tolerance, promoting democracy and mass information awareness. Fanatics will be there in all religion but violence will not solve it. It may solve it for a while but it will come back to us with might strength.

I would love Jihad of the Pen. I just dont see that being pursuasive to her more traditional believers, who believe in taking her head off for advocating something that Mohemmed did not.

Muslims are very receptive to teachings that have basis in the core written texts.. the Koran, the Hadith, and the Sira. This is the fundamental challenge the so-called moderates have in countering Jihadism. As Mohemmed was developing Islam it went from being somewhat moderate to intolerant, warlike, and violent against non-believers and the older teachings were abrogated by the newer, violent teachings. Anyone looking for explicit teachings AGAINST Jihad will not find any in the Islamic texts. It makes it very hard to delegitimize the Jihad.
