MSNBC’s Tucker Carlson show picks up TP’s analysis of the Anna Nicole Smith media frenzy. MSNBC sarcastically declared, “The website ThinkProgress.org kept track of the Anna Nicole Smith coverage, and yes, victory was ours.” Watch it:
There is more important things in the world, in America, than covering poor dead Anna Nicole Smith, or for that matter covering politicals running for President two years early.
Why is America sour on politics? Because MSM makes it a game of enterantment and got-youch.
How doing some investigation into the criminal activities and corruption of the GOP? That is the real stories that need to be covered. That will help America, not turn off every American by the time November '08 comes around.
Tuckers obliviousness is breathtaking. Irony is simply lost on some folks. But then again, I guess we need to consider the souirce. After listening to him several days ago agitating against taking more Iraqi refugees because we've done enough for (to) their country already, I resolved to turn the channel anytime the bow-tied puke showed up on screen. Thank you for watching him so I don't have to.
Well, who can blame the HUGE media event? Did you SEE the SIZE of those breasts? Can those babies be saved? Oh, and she had some talent, too. Congrats, TP.
They are clearly being self-deprecating. Can't you hear the laughter when the reporter sarcastically says, "Victory was ours?" They obviously recognize their network's coverage was way over the top.
I guess that comes off as slightly bad press - though any press is good press really.
I mean, to finally be mentioned is great, but its in the context of the site watching Anna Nicole Smith stories all day. Hopefully people who did not know about TP will still come by out of curiosity, and see how much more important this site is, than just counting Anna Nicole Smith mentions.
The media attention to this poor woman's life and death is ghoulish and pathetic. She did little to afford herself dignity in her life and these bottom feeders finish the job in her death. It is "Catcher In The Rye" sad. It really is.
#15- There's a big difference between big, beautiful breasts and a big, ugly boil on the ass. Rush has no talent, hidden or otherwise. Also, I don't do crack, not the kind in the pipe, anyway.
Anna Nicole Smith's death is tragic, but in reality she's a tragic person.
Her love for the elderly billionaire was a farce. As far as I know she was offered $88,000,000 to shut her up in the estate battle. Would she take $88,000,000? No! She wanted more. She wanted more. I guess she wanted $450,000,000. Yeah, 450,000,000 is nice, but $88,000,000 ain't bad. She's one big con artist.
Her whole life IS unbelievable. If someone wrote up a plot of her life, as a movie, it wouldn't sell. It's just a tad too "unbelievable." Eighty-something year old billionaire is wheeled into strip joints, and marries a 26-year-old stripper. This guy is nuts. "Yes, Nicole, I know you love me and not my money."
I think I'll submit a script where Laura Bush is hosting a support group for deceased Iraq soldiers and then tries to push the latest line of Mary Kay cosmetics. Of course she's dressed in her birthday suit, and then Dubya drives the support group to the GI graves in a pink Cadillac crying all the way, "I feel your pain." This script sounds more believable than Anna Nicole's script.
#13: They are clearly being self-deprecating. Can’t you hear the laughter when the reporter sarcastically says, “Victory was ours?†They obviously recognize their network’s coverage was way over the top.
The question is: what do they intend to do about it? They seem to recognize it was over the top, but they also seem perversely pleased with themselves.
Kudos, TP! Heads up to you! Of course, they only told half of the story on Rethug Carlson's show - the amount of time given by the various networks to Anna Nicole's demise. The 'REAL STORY", however, is how overly-saturated one pseudo-diva's passing was time-wise vs. time spent covering the loss of our military in the helicoptor crash. Now that's the criminal portion of it all in my estimation.
And, I believe that, given this evidence of their over-the-top squandering of precious news time on the passing of a drug-addicted bleach blonde of dubious character, we do not give our time and consideration to those killed in this criminal war - and their mourning families. This is a hideous and overt attempt to neutralize the public's anger at this war as well as to knuckle under to the Rethug candidates who realize that the handwriting is on the wall of their tenure in Congress and/or Presidential hopes the longer this war is "front page news".
This is clearly abdication of responsibility in the reportong of news as well as derelection of duty on the part of the mainstream media.
Here's one of the stories MSNBC and everybody else missed when Ms. Smith died.
NEW YORK A young woman met a sudden and tragic end, it was reported on Thursday, leaving her family and people who knew her in great distress.
No, it's not Anna Nicole Smith. Her name is Jennifer Parcell, and she died in Iraq. But you'd be lucky if you could find any mention of her, amidst the front page and wall-to-wall media coverage of the likely drug-related death of "starlet" Smith.
In fact, as of noon today, there were only seven press mentions, all in the area of her native Maryland, according to a Google search.
More dead Iraqis. More dead GIs. Middle East turmoil is reaching an eruption level. All economic indicators (once you remove oil and defense) are going down at a pace that has not been seen in my lifetime. Foreclosures are increasing at an alarming pace. Government corruption is (finally) being exposed at least at the surface level.
But, jeez, did you see the melons on that trailer pie?
The good news is that this story will get coverage all weekend. The bad news is that by Monday there will be less GIs and Iraqis to read the news.
The founding fathers were wise enough to realize a free press and informed citizenry was VITAL to a democracy.
We'll we do have a free press, free to pass off GARBAGE, tabloid stories and sensationalism as "news".
From constant speculation to beating a story nonstop for HOURS and HOURS and HOURS. The U.S. infotainers, who have the NERVE to call themselves JOURNALIST, have started the destruction of an informed public.
Funny how Tucker Carlson conveniently forgets that he was the one interviewing CHIMPya Bush when Bush was still governor of texas and Bush mimicked murderess Karla Faye "Please don't kill me..." then went ahead and refused to grant her a pardon like the murdering Fascist-Nazi scum that he is and STILL is!!!!! Tucker, you glib DOLT, GET A GRIP!!!!!
If that's what they call winning I hear there may be some openings in the Bush administration soon!
They'll fit right in. For once Faux News has their priorities right. ANS as a major news story is a waste of bandwidth leave it to the tabloids please...
You people have got to be kidding! The entire segment (not included in this clip) was a spoof of MSNBC's overblown coverage of Anna Nicole. Tucker's show was yanked on Thursday in favor of Anna Nicole coverage and this was his subversive shot at management. Come on, guys.
Awesome - TP, you've been MSNBC'd.
February 9th, 2007 at 5:39 pmTucker Carlson doing a poor imitation of Stephen Colbert.
February 9th, 2007 at 5:45 pmYeah I caught it when it aired.
February 9th, 2007 at 5:46 pmcool
Tucker missed the point entirely. I hate stupid on purpose.
February 9th, 2007 at 5:48 pmOh.let Tucker gloat.... It's the first, and the last, time he'll ever be number one at anything.
Does the TP mention on the conservative MSM mean we'll get more viral trolls now? Time for registration.
February 9th, 2007 at 5:49 pmSad, sadder and stupid.

Tucker missed the point it seems. Like when he chose a bowtie.
ANS isn't really dead, she's right here laughing.

IMHO, Liberal from NM was being sarcastic.
On topic: This will bring more trolls, for sure.
February 9th, 2007 at 6:14 pmI can't watch the video right now, but please tell me Tucker was saying that 'tongue-in-cheek'. I realize he's clueless, but usually not in that way.
