This morning on Imus, NBC’s Tim Russert denied Mary Matalin’s claim that he “hates” Hardball anchor Chris Matthews. “Chris is my friend,” he said. “I have been to his house. He has been to my house. He’s been on my show. I’ve been on his show.”
RUSSERT: I mean, the fact is Chris is my friend. He is my colleague and I mean, we both — he grew up in Philadelphia. I grew up in Buffalo. … I have been to his house. He has been to my house. He’s been on my show. I’ve been on his show. I talked to him yesterday. I was stunned by it all. And I was glad to see or hear Mary [Matalin] say she didn’t say it or didn’t believe it or whatever she said.
yeah… i grew up in philadelphia, and i’m friends with everyone else who has too.
February 9th, 2007 at 10:05 amWell come on…Mary called back to cover her butt.
February 9th, 2007 at 10:14 amI am glad that Mary Matalin lied about what she lied about earlier. My God, no wonder this nation is losing out in the poplarity race to China.

February 9th, 2007 at 10:16 amUh huh, I’ve certainly never been in the house of someone I couldn’t stand, and then managed to be civil.
My real question is: Does Tim just like Chris? Or does he “like him” like him? **eyes rolling**
February 9th, 2007 at 10:17 amwow… what a solid endorsement of friendship!
February 9th, 2007 at 10:24 amI grew up in Buffalo and I don’t like Chris.
February 9th, 2007 at 10:25 ami think its very heroic of Mary Matalin to lie about whatever she lied about when telling the untruthfullness of the truth.
February 9th, 2007 at 10:27 amMary Matalin looks like a grotesque feral creature. She’s as ugly as sin, vile and beneath contempt. There’s no honesty that comes out of her mouth because she’s always reckless with the truth. She is a LIAR like Cheney.
February 9th, 2007 at 10:35 amWho knows what the hell MM said?
February 9th, 2007 at 10:58 amI really didn’t think I could despise Mary Matalin any more than I already did, but then I read this piece yesterday from Firedoglake:
http://www.firedoglake.com/2007/02/08/the-trouble-with-mary/
She’s reached some new lows. And she may have a tough time finding work again because of it. Just breaks your heart, doesn’t it?
February 9th, 2007 at 10:59 amWhat’s really amazing here is that these fat freaks think the public cares whether or not they hate each other. As far as I’m concerned, the fact that I despise both of them is all that matters.
February 9th, 2007 at 11:05 amMy real question is: Does Tim just like Chris? Or does he “like him†like him? **eyes rolling**

And I really don’t want to know the answer to that.

February 9th, 2007 at 11:32 amWhat’s old “death-mask Mary” doing, back in the news? I thought she moved to her old summer home in the center of the earth where she does so fabulously, hacking at her writting. You know Dick Cheney has got to be feeling the tightening grip on his spincter to drag old Mare outta the closet. Is she still on his payroll as political advisor, I wonder? My bet is that she is and we’ll be seeing a little bit more of her as the days go by. Great… I’ve missed her mannequin-like presence. Hey, Mare!
February 9th, 2007 at 11:41 amEvery person working within mainline media is complicitous to mass murder and untold misery. The fascist’s running the international ’show’ could never get away with bamboozling the public to the staggering degree they have without the aid of a subservient, obedient press who serve corporate interests. This is goes a long ways in explaining just how astonishingly, embarrassingly ignore-ant US citizens are.
February 9th, 2007 at 11:42 amWhether or not Mary Matalin, Chris Matthews, and Don Imus hate each other (which they apparently do), they all have one thing in common: they’re all reliable apologists for John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, and Mitt Romney–and they’re all in favor of blindly and recklessly smearing Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Richardson, and John Edwards.
Tim Russert is in a slightly different category: his show is where Republican politicians go when they want to repair their damaged public image.

God, I love your machines!
I was wondering what that sound was, but hey, a little gypsum can be replaced.
Is Mary actually Mary Magdaline, redux? Only an immaculate deception could have spawned that creature. She’s the only one in that bunch who has a face uglier than Shooter.
Mary, is that your real face or did your neck throw up?

February 9th, 2007 at 2:06 pmI think I will keep your succinct, but very descriptive post.
Well doesn’t “the good book” tell us “HE moves in mysterious ways”? The news “commentators” (please be careful with the word journalist) seem to believe George (Wacky) Bush is infallible. Doesn’t his conversations with “GOD” prove that.
February 9th, 2007 at 2:25 pmDid Russert say during this interview that all of his conversations are on the record.
it contradicts what he said under oath yesterday, eh?
February 9th, 2007 at 2:54 pmThey all hate each other. They are so concerned that someone else may have a bigger contract, bigger paycheck, larger home and a summer place. They all make me sick.
Matalin has more botox on her face than one can believe. She can’t even smile.
Please, they are all phonies. Like I have said many, many times those of us who summer on Nantucket wish like hell that they would take their act somewhere else. Try the Eastern Shore of Maryland–they’ll get a twofer–both Cheney and Rumsfeld.
I don’t know how they can even look in the mirror.

That hatchet-faced harridan Mary Matalin has the right to say what she wants to, though 100% of what spills out her vile maw is psychobabble gobbledygook. It is a well known fact, and Matalin’s stinking two cents opinion is not necessary for me to know this, that Tim Russert DETESTS Chris Matthews and vice versa. EVERYBODY DETESTS Chris Matthews–no explanation necessary!!!! Both Russert and Matthews are forgettable personages…at present, only Keith Olbermann at MSNBC is a noteworthy person in the news scene–and as Keith’s stature rises, Russert and Matthews shrink because neither Russert or Matthews will confront CHIMPya and Torticola Cheney to admit their wrongdoings and criminal behaviour the way Keith does!!!!!
February 9th, 2007 at 4:10 pmBoo-yah! To the Puppeteer, Don Imus — white trash, former drug addict and alcoholic — This guy is the original — he beats Sasha Cohen (Borat) who gets these people to come on his program to make complete Jack-Asses of themselves — to kiss Don’s ring, then the guest must bring some proof that they love Country Music or Nascar.
Russert would make a perfect spokeman for “Wendy’s — don’t you think.
Matthews, would love a stress/squeeze ball in his image.
Who cares who likes who…………..does anyone really care.
February 9th, 2007 at 6:32 pm#28: [D]oes anyone really care[?]
I care.
February 9th, 2007 at 6:39 pm“He’s been on my show. I’ve been on his show.”
Only in Hollywood (or the incenstuous Washington media) – where “tv is larger than life” – could this possibly mean that they’re unquestionably friends!
February 10th, 2007 at 1:38 amI am not normally given to snarky comments, however, I just can’t resist the urge this time: I’ve always thought Mary Matalin was a very unattractive person — primarily because of her persona, but also on the surface. She has become uglier over the years — both physically and spiritually.
