It is quite probable that Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is suffering from dinosaur flatulence of the brain, which could be cured quickly by a good frontal lobotomy. What an idiot!

So let me get this straight:

The Religio-Republi-Cons do not believe in evolution, but they do believe in dinosaur flatulance as a cause for global warming?

Just when exactly were these theoretical dinosaurs supposed to have farted in the very limited time these right-wingnuts claim the earth has been in existance?

Yeah...yeah...yeah...you guys keep on crying about "man-made" global warming. I would bet that less than 1/2 of 1% of the people crying about warming do anything about it personally. Who among you walks everywhere they go? Who among you makes the decision not to use air transport? Who among you chooses to not use any product with a petroleum base. None, unless you just cannot afford it. Jump on the jet with Algore to fly all over the world crying about global warming that you assume someone else is causing. The major volcanic eruptions in my lifetime dwarf any change man has wrought in the past two millenniums.
Ummm...this is the coldest winter I have seen in many years...oops.

That report concluded that global warming is “unequivocal” and human activity is the main driver, “very likely” causing most of the rise in temperatures since 1950. : The assumtion is human activity is the main driver is scientifically proven as false. The polititian is more correct about his facts than anyone suggesting (and emotionally based at that) that this is not a natural cycle and man can fix it and caused it. What was the rainfall in areas that supported the Anaztazi people? What is the rainfall now and the future? Jump on the bandwagon, the world is gona end and it's all everybodys fault.

Now, it seems it really does become a must that candidates for some political mandate have to pass a test about their mental health and their education before becoming nominated.

One really can't believe what kind of utter rubbish somebody like Rorhrabacher is farting around.
He really should be send back to primary school .......... together with the majority of the actual government of the USA.

stormkrow- check my math on this but assuming in your original entry a 2500 sq ft house has about 750 sq ft of roof facing south (2 story house with gable roof). According to your $500 at $.14 calculation I beleive that is 3570 kwh per month. Houses as one of the largest emmiters of CO2 could beneifit from solar panels. New solar panels put off 315 wats per hour in peak sun in the Southern US. On a 750 sq ft that is 42 panels creating 13,230 watts. On peak days this power could be sold back to the grid. How to do this. Yes, the homes cost a bit more, but the savings more than make up for it. Some developments in California offer the "new basics" (i.e., granite countertops as optional in order to help defer the cost. I saw one of the staunch Repupublican "good ol' boy" complain that his electric bill for the month was $8 as opposed to the month before when he made $3. For installation on older homes - like alternative fuel autombiles, tax incentives could be offered to defer the cost of installation and materials. This would certainly minimize the need for coal, especially in Texas. Forget the scientific abstracts of global warming this is something Americans can see helping their pocket book.

Most power companies build what they call a "Green Power" plant to supplement their power delivery. Green Power or renewable energy has been pretty much forced upon power utilities by, as they say: "tree hugging hippies" to help give themselves an outward appearance of being environmentally friendly. But the sad reality is most green energy doesn't produce the billions of watts of power they need to power homes and the like. An example here in North Texas is that AEP or TXU both have 3600 MW coal burning plants but will supplement that with maybe only 6 MW total from green power (hydroelectric or methane gas skids). Typically most green power plants produce just a little more than what it takes to actually run the power plant itself. I design control an monitoring applications for power companies and oil and gas. TXU placed 2 Solar (brand name) turbine generators at the Arlington landfill that would run directly off of the vented methane gas. It's absolutely a great idea in concept but the final output of both generators was just a little over 5 MW which in turn was sold right back to the landfill and neighboring water treatment facility and typically those particular generators only run at 30% capacity should they run at all. But the cost to profitability margins are very high and thus makes green energy not a good business model for them to follow. Coal for them is super cheap when compared with the output produced and for them green energy is expensive compared to what is gained. Unfortunately Green Energy is, more than anything, just a way for them to get good face time. Add to the fact that here in North Texas we're in the middle of a very long drought which has dropped the lake levels down to the point where almost every single hydroelectric plant is currently completely shut down. Hence the need for the additional 19 coal plants. The drought, by the way, is caused by the odd weather patterns which have been directly attributed to global warming or dinosaur farts as Rep. Rohrabacher would have us believe.

Additional sources for Hydrogen production that are inexpensive and can be implemented at their point of origin rather than incurring the cost of transportation: The byproduct of confectionary factories can easily beturned into hydrogen for the factories. The byproduct of waste treatment facilites can easily be turned into hydrogen to power those facilites. Excess from both of these processes can be sold for profit.

stormkrow. Great blog entry. Natural gas can be profitable if there is enough demand in the market. A "national highways" like project creating hydrogen fuel stations and delivery systems would help build the necessary infrastructure in a short amount of time and cost relatively little in comparison with the costs of going to war for oil or the cost from increasing erratic weather patterns have created (ie, Katrina, the rapid dumping of Snow in NY, and the heatwaves in the US and Europe). In addition, the gas created at landfills can be converted by solar energy into usable hyrdogen and there are landfills all over the US. Google it youmay find it interesting.

All those scientists claiming global warming is casued by man and Al Gore or Exxon, BP, the coal companies, the American Motor comapanies, GE (check the latest lobbying efforts to ward off legislation curbing polition by their trains), the manufacturing sector, the oil pipline companies, the oil exploration companies, the oil drillers, Dow Chemical.
I have worked in Oil and Gas for many years. It wasn't until the gas crunch years of the late seventies that Big Oil actually began a focused effort to reclaim natural gasses. Up until then most wells were drilled and then "vented". The venting process allows the natural gas to escape unimpeded unfiltered directly to the outside air. This is still a common practice for most well heads in the Middle East since natural gas infrastructure is mostly not in place at the time of drilling. In those instances the natural gas escaping or being vented off is ignited and burned to prevent explosive gas accumulation within the vicinity; this is known as a flare. It is quite common for older trash dumping grounds within the US to have several vent holes drilled with flares to prevent methane gas build up. Is this caused by man; well of course it is but hey they couldn't get at that sweet sweet oil any other way.
I had read somewhere that Iran vents upwards of 85% of all wells and Saudi Arabia vents over 50%. There simply is no profitable means of collecting and transporting that Natural Gas to an open market. Primarily Natural Gas where ever it is being used is pumped from some local reserve. In the US most of our natural gas comes from Wyoming, Texas, Alaska and Utah and not from the middle east. The safest means available for delivering natural gas is by pipeline. It is by far one of the cleanest burning fossil fuels but the added expense of delivery makes it difficult for big oil to achieve profitability; and that's why most (800+) of our largest power plants use coal. Coal is the easiest to deliver and is also the dirtiest fossil fuel to burn. There is a misconception that CO2 emissions comes primarily from automobiles but the fact is most CO2 comes from our power plants. What is even more interesting is that BushCo and the GOP has successfully removed CO2 from EPA monitored emissions paving the way to allow the state of Texas to build 19 more coal burning power plants. Their rhetoric was that since CO2 is emitted by plants it is a naturally occurring phenomenon and therefore should not be monitored. Hopefully with our new congress the EPA will be forced to closely monitor CO2 emissions from all man made sources and primarily from power plants. The cost of "scrubbing" the emissions becomes enormous to retrofit existing plants so much so that some of our older plants would have to seriously consider using an alternative fuel source for the burners as opposed to lost profits from a plant shut down during a retrofit. Either way if Dick and his energy task force have their way then the US will move to an entirely deregulated energy market and will then be able to pass the cost onto their customers. What does that look like? Ask Californians about their electric bill. Or for instance here in a deregulated Texas where we pay .14 cents a kWh or about $500 a month to heat/cool a 2500 sq.ft. home. The average charge for a kWh in a regulated market like Ohio or Indiana for instance is roughly 9 cents a kWh.
Should (hopefully) congress force the EPA to monitor CO2 emissions and the GOP have their deregulated market then the average cost for a kWh becomes exponential. It is not unrealistic to say the cost would be about 20 to 25 cents a kWh or roughly $1000+ a month for a 2500sq. ft home.
Just an FYI. By the way we sure could use those dinosaur farts to help power our homes.

"Gentlemen-

enjoy the humour of the whole thing.

Dinosauer Flatulence? Whew. I will soon be re-releasing things like
"Tyrannosaurus Sex", "The Banana Hymn of the Republicans", "America the Dutiful", "Bar Spangled Bladder" in the U.S.

May I sing the following to that Republican Rohrbacher?
(from copyrighted "Bar Spangled Bladder"

"Oh, say can you pee, by the dawn's early light
what so proudly you drank at the twilight's last gleaming?
The bar-room's red glare, and the waitress's stare -
they proved through the night -
that our drunk was still there....
Oh say, can you empty your bladder in the men's room
on floor full of pee, and the pants of a knave."

(C) 2006 K.O.D.,Munich Germany.

Dinousauer Farts. Brilliant.

Gentlemen:

congressman Rohrbacher has solved our energy crisis. I mean, if he can build a time machine to tap all those dinosauer farts...... to run machines now......

Ah, megalomania. I recorded "Tyrannosaurus Sex" a decade ago about guys like Rohbacher and Bush.

"I want you to guess just who I am, when I'm insecure I'm megalo-man"
"I'll give you a hint, I'm a monster well hung,
- got slimey skin and slithering tongue...
Grab ya just right with my reptilian paws....
got flashy eyes, and smilin' jaws.
Got a big strong body like a dinosauer male.....
but best of all, got a long hard tale."

(Girl chorus - Oh he's got it, I can feel, Oh he's got that rex - appeal.
Oh he's got I can feel..... Tyrannosaurus Sex."

Will be re-released in U.S. soon - along with "Banana Hymn of the Republicans", "The Bar Spangled Bladder", and other inane political commentary by the Parody Ex-Patriates...."

Dinosaur farts. Great. Makes life all the funnier.
