New report by the Justice Department’s Inspector General finds, “Between three and four FBI laptop computers are lost or stolen each month on average and the agency is unable to say in many instances whether information on the machines is sensitive or classified.”
Dont tell me. It was Iran, right?
February 12th, 2007 at 4:56 pmFBI loses 3-4 laptops each month.

February 12th, 2007 at 4:57 pmBwahahahahahahahaha.
WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?

February 12th, 2007 at 5:00 pmIt wouldn’t matter if they all used .NET where all your secure data stays on a secure server and NEVER is transfered to the laptops hard drive in the first place! Why the hell do they carry sensitive data ON THE COMPUTER???
Stupid Government.
February 12th, 2007 at 5:01 pmI’m sure the trolls will be here soon to tell us how Sandy Berger stuffs laptops down his pants each month.
February 12th, 2007 at 5:06 pmFunny how the US government doesn’t even have the same standards of behavior that small little non-profits have. These guys waste money like it was borrowed or something.
February 12th, 2007 at 5:07 pmIn the 12 years since I bought my first one, I’ve never lost even ONE… Sheesh… What is wrong with these people?
February 12th, 2007 at 5:08 pmMaybe we should have the government form an agency to investigate what is happening to these laptops.
We could name it something catchy like the Federal Bureau of Investi…. Oh, yeah.
February 12th, 2007 at 5:22 pmTHAT SHOULD MAKE AMERICANS FEEL SOOOOO SECURE!
February 12th, 2007 at 6:22 pmDid Ahmadinejad steal them?

February 12th, 2007 at 6:42 pmTyrannical blogger,
February 12th, 2007 at 7:03 pmCould you limit your posts to a paragraph or so? 9,000 characters is a bit much for a thread like this.
Los Alamos Labs in New Mexico has had a number of incidents in the past several years where supposed top secret information was stolen. The labs and surrounding area was in a lock-down for a number of days and people were called in to be questioned and interrogated and accused. As it later turned out, the highly technical and highly-classified information never existed in the first place. It makes one wonder, doesn’t it?
February 12th, 2007 at 7:12 pmMaybe the NSA can “listen up” for them…8-))
February 12th, 2007 at 7:46 pmIn the words of the later, great Jack Benny, “WELL!” I guess I’m FOUR Up on the FBI–I haven’t lost my SINGLE laptop, the first PC I ever bought, yet!!!!! Ray 0 FBI -(MINUS)4!!!!!
February 12th, 2007 at 8:15 pmThey need to anchor the laptops to lifesize human cutouts of J. Edgar Hoover — like a giant hall pass. They’d never get lost that way.

If you assign an FBI agent a little boy to carry his laptop then the FBI agent will keep track of the little boy and the little boy will keep track of the laptop.
Problem solved!!
February 12th, 2007 at 10:06 pmThat is an awful lot of laptops to lose in one year.
And these are the people supposed to keep the rest of us safe?
::sigh::
February 13th, 2007 at 12:15 amFBI needs a new Director badly.
February 13th, 2007 at 12:17 amHmmm. Its PROBABLY al-qaedia or the Iranian invisible Extra Terrestial agents who ship load of bombs to the Iraqi insurgents, to blow up our boys. Lemme roll a coin, and see who really steal those laptops.
Ah, Jesus! Its just some harmless Israeli Art Students. OMG! I thought they were only f***kin with the DEA, didn’t know the guys in the FBI department are part-time art collectors!
