Yesterday, right-wing radio host Glenn Beck claimed that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) “is colorless,” adding that “as a white guy…[y]ou don’t notice that he is black. So he might as well be white, you know what I mean?”

Or I might wish I could be green…Now green is the color of shamrocks….and yellow is the color of daffodils…..but it could be alizaren crimson and not just plain red…..and, of course, it could be azure blue rather than cirilean blue. But, of course, only to an artist is color relevant these days….and, as it should be.

I listened to the clip, and honestly I can’t even figure out what point Beck thought he was making. It seems like he’s begging for attention, so he can then say, “See! They all called me a racist! You just can’t say ANYTHING in this country without poor little me being accused of being a racist!” I have no idea whether or not Glenn Beck is, in fact, a racist. But he certainly is stupid.

No…actually, I don’t know what Beck means, and I’m glad. It’s clear from Obama’s skin color that he is indeed black — so it’s obvious that Beck can only be referring to the fact that Beck has a very polished way of presenting himself. However, the fact that Beck apparently identifies a polished manner as being exclusive to white people — his comment suggesting that Obama’s manner makes him “seem white” — speaks volumes.

February 14th, 2007 at 6:32 amFor some pathological reason, I’ll recap what he said because I’m sure most of you won’t or dont have time to listen to it.
- Beck was talking to another radio host about things that people feel they are being silenced on by leftists (global warming, etc)
- The radio guy says one of his listeners said that you cant’ talk about anything about Obama other than the fact that he’s black.
- Beck says he thought Obama was mixed race. when did things switch to he’s just black
- Beck says seeing Obama on 60 minutes he got the impression that Obama was very white. (iow: not very black-ish… you know how Al Sharpton put… you can be our race but it doesnt mean you’re our kind)
- Beck says Obama is colorless , in other words, Obama doesn’t project his race by the way he conducts himself and that people don’t associate him with being black until it’s brought to people’s attention that he’s black
in other words… Obama is acting and viewed in a way that MLK Jr wished things would be
So when he says he sees Obama as white.. he means that he doesnt put Obama into the “black” box.
Then Beck says that today in blogs (like this one) he will be called for a racist for not noticing Obama’s race.
And you folks call him racist.
