Most smuggled weapons used for civil war.

By Nico Pitney on Feb 13th, 2007 at 12:05 pm

Most smuggled weapons used for civil war.

“Kenneth Katzman, a Middle East researcher with Congressional Research Service, the research arm of Congress, said that…most of the weapons Iran had been supplying the Shi’ite militias were believed to be for use against Sunnis. Shi’ite militias may be attacking US forces in retaliation for arrests of militia leaders, he said, but their attacks pale in comparison to the deaths inflicted by Sunni insurgents who are not believed to get assistance from Iran, he said. ‘The Shi’ite militias are not the key threat to US forces in Iraq, so the overall question is why is the US military making a huge issue of this?‘ he said.”

The US military (or at least a segment of it) is making a big deal out of it because the Chainee/Boosch regime has plans………

By now, it should be obvious to everyone.

The U.S. needs an excuse to attack. Any excuse will do, and the more excuses that can be generated, the better.

This is all a prelude to Chimpy’s next big war theater – Iran.

  3. RUCerious says:

Oh, come on. You know why the US (administration, not military) is making a big deal out of this!
    It rhymes with Honkin…

  4. Jason says:

So why are we not examining munitions siezed and detonated by Sunni Millitas?? I’m sure none are comming from Saudi Arabia and Syria…riiiiight!! Why are we not making a case for war against the Saudi’s for interferring in Iraq and/or pursuing WMD’s or harboring terrorists or spreading radical Islamic hatred against the USA??

When did Rummy give them the weapons?

  9. swordsbane says:

Attacking Iran doesn’t make sense even from an ‘evil overlord’ perspective that Bush seems to use. We don’t have the forces to take and control Iran and Iraq. We don’t have the money to prop up US friendly regimes in one of those countries much less both of them. The most we can accomplish is to further degrade world opinion of the United States and destabilize yet another Mid-East country and increase the global terror risk (especially ours)
What ulterior motive could possibly justify those consequences? Oil? We’re liable to have LESS control over both Iran and Iraqs oil fields than we do now. Certainly production will be affected which drives the price of oil through the roof…. oh.. ahh..

    never mind…

  10. swordsbane says:

No… seriously. The only way Bush comes out on top is if he can CONDUCT the war in secret. As soon as we start shooting, his approval rating will go straight to hell. He can’t possibly think he can sell this to the public. Even if he were morally supported, our military and economy cannot handle a second war.

In the middle of a civil war is not where you want to find yourself. Why not tackel something like poverty from the ground up. Perhaps that will eliminate the need for war anyway. Less poverty = less violence. Now accomplish those Millenniu Development Goals.

  13. Liberal in New Mexico says:

Is it known for certain that these weapons are not the same ones that were illegally sold by the Pentagon? What happened to THAT story, anyway? Is this story meant to override THAT one?

Ohhhh, well, I guess that’s perfectly fine then. Who cares if the Iranians are supplying weapons to Iraqis used to kill other Iraqis? As long as they’re not used to target “us”, then it’s fine. Or…?

Several comments/links to the following website recently – to debunk US Intelligence claims of the alleged Iran munitions; discussion of English writing vs. what should be Farsi/Arabic; the dates not being in the Persian calendar, etc…..which are all very interesting questions to me (unless Iran manufactures to export to the US and EU?).
    http://www.diomil.ir/en/amig.aspx?search_id=morar

But does anyone else think this website seems odd?
The script looks like what some lamebrain US bigot would imagine “Iranian” typeset looks like, after scrolling through all available Windows fonts.
All the text, the “About Us” page, etc….. sound VERY English in syntax – none of those quirky strained translations that often sound a bit odd to us (ie: wiping Israel off the map, off the pages of time, etc.)
The whole way the webpage is laid out – it looks like a generic US website – right?
I almost expect to see a pop-up say “Hello – Please Click Here and Win Free trip with Paris Hilton!!”

Okay – anyway – All the markings on the weapons depicted are indeed in English? Hmmmm.

Now if you look at the top right, there is a drop down menu for Other Languages.
This supposed “Official Iranian Arms Website” – which appears like a veritable online shopping catalogue which should offer PayPal…does NOT HAVE A VERSION IN FARSI OR ARABIC yet. These are “Still Under Construction”…..WTF – “Still Under Construction” with the cute little American blinking roadstop sign to boot?

Wouldn’t the Official Iranian Arms Website have made their first version in their own language?
Or did they just do this as a courtesy, so that the US public would be able to see very easily how they make all the bombs that our government tells us are being used to kill 170 Americans.

Could this be some of that top secret Pentagon cyber warfare that is costing some of those trillions of missing US taxdollars?

Is this website legit – and if not – where did it come from??
    Anybody have any ideas?

Sorry for the error. I rechecked another lookup for the domain and it says that it is from Iran. There’s no way that it is a legitimate site, is there? Why is there no Farsi version?

We all remember when the Sunni Insurgency were attacking our troops and the Shiites with bombs made in Saudi Arabia, right? Why didn’t we attack the Saudi’s?

  21. Raymond Funamoto says:

    The reason, my dear
    Is so crystal clear!
    CHIMPya and Cheney
    For reasons flimsy and zany
    Want to invade Iran
    That is their foolish plan!
    By these deux Fascist despots
    Whose brains swim in CESS-pots
Full of bubble, bubble toil and trouble
    Fire, Burn! And cauldron bubble!
By the thumbing of my prick
I hear Something Wicked This Way Coming–It’s DICK!
    No, not Nixon, he’s dead!
Too bad about Torticola Cheney the same thing can’t be said!
And ditto for CHIMPya, that clown
Who wears above his beady little eyes a perpetual frown
Because CHIMPya can’t always get his way
So he stamps his CLOVEN HOOF to say:
    “I AM THE DECIDER-IN-CHIEF!”
    NO–he’s the commander-in-THIEF!
    Aka 666, “The Great Beast”
Whose life on this earth should be quickly CEASED!
Aong with Torticola Cheney, that Brainiac SO EVIL
Who should be CRUSHED UNDERFOOT like a PESTILENT WEEVIL!
So, Gentle Friends, I ask your support
To make CHIMPya and Cheney the sacrificial goat
    To be summarily dispatched
Before worse machinations by them be hatched!

Thanks – man – I wish I knew how to do that.
I’m not sure I follow your comment above – if you were being sarcastic or if something still seemed off to you even though it came out from inside Iran…..or why does it say Amsterdam in one spot?
Are there entities in Iran that are so westernized that they only speak English?

I’m sorry – I have no idea what all that cyber info means, but the original website just seemed very bizarre to me, and I wondered if anyone else had the same impression. Maybe it is a legit private company operating in Iran….almost makes me curious if I registered, how far I could go “ordering” some stuff !? :-)

    Thanks again for your reply.
