I live in Montgomery County, MD, and worked for the local social services agency for a few years. Let me assure you that the abstinence program has not made a dent on teen pregnancy rates here. My caseload (500+) was made up primarily of teen moms and/or women whose first pregnancies occured when they were teenagers. Obviously, very few were practicing safe sex; many weren't even aware of what that concept really means. The ignorance of safe sex and birth control may in fact be the only way in which the wingnuts at the Pregnancy Center had any impact on the situation. Man has been on this planet for how long, about 700000 years? And even privative man had some sort of “religion” he was practicing (sun worship, tree worship, later multi-deities, single deities, whatever).

So, if you start right now, maybe you can remove religion from mankind in about 35000 generations.

Or, maybe you can just be gracious enough to allow others to practice their religion while you, I assume, choose to practice none. Together we can all work to keep religion out of politics.
