“Keith Olbermann will continue to be a thorn in Bill O’Reilly’s side for at least four more years,” MSNBC reports. Olbermann has agreed to a “second term” with NBC News that “will take him into 2011.” Besides hosting “Countdown,” Olbermann will now “contribute occasional essays to ‘NBC Nightly News’ and there will be two prime-time ‘Countdown’ specials a year on NBC.”
Yay! GO TEAM OLBERMANN!
February 15th, 2007 at 12:26 pmBully for you, Keith!
Please continue your tradition of speaking truth to power.
February 15th, 2007 at 12:28 pmHeh.
February 15th, 2007 at 12:28 pm:-D
February 15th, 2007 at 12:28 pmWell good. O’Reilly deserves all the enemies he can make.
February 15th, 2007 at 12:29 pmFrom the article:
What I can’t understand is: who are all these mouth-breathers that watch Bill-O every night? Does anyone actually, personally know a Bill-O watcher?
February 15th, 2007 at 12:30 pmYay Keith!
February 15th, 2007 at 12:33 pmNow MSNBC should bring back Phil D. also.
This is good news. Someone has to speak the truth and Keith does a fairly good job of it.
February 15th, 2007 at 12:33 pmMore from the article:
Oh yes….sharply to the left…one need only watch Hardball, Tucker, or Scarborough Country to see just how radically left NBC has gone. </snark>
Honestly, how does Bill-O find his way home at night?
Yes…how dare they report the facts! Don’t they know that the highest calling of a news organization is to serve as a mouthpiece and cheerleader to Herr Chimpy? How dare they express some integrity….can’t they see that makes the rest of us look bad?
</snark>
February 15th, 2007 at 12:36 pmEssays on NBC nightly news!!!
Way to go Keith
February 15th, 2007 at 12:37 pmLet us not forget that some of the O’Reilly watchers are the “spies” that report back to Keith and other progressive media. It’s a terrible job but someone has to do it.
February 15th, 2007 at 12:37 pmAt least there is a sound of reason left on television. He is popular also .Good step forward for MSNBC.
February 15th, 2007 at 12:39 pmGreat news! I like how Keith gets under BillO’s skin all the time…:) (and he does it with grace and style!)
February 15th, 2007 at 12:41 pm#7 – The average age for BO’s viewers is in their 70’s. The reason why he is losing his viewership is because they keep dying on him. Soon, there will be no audience left, which as as it should be.
Rock on Keith. You are what keeps me sane. Keep up the good work!
February 15th, 2007 at 12:43 pmOlbermann will now “contribute occasional essays to ‘NBC Nightly News’ and there will be two prime-time ‘Countdown’ specials a year on NBC.â€
whoa. … that is most excellent news…
just hope it’s not too late… hurry keith! HURRY!!!
February 15th, 2007 at 12:44 pm.
Cool Olbermann is a good person and O’Reilly is a loofa sponge fascist!
February 15th, 2007 at 12:44 pmHonestly, how does Bill-O find his way home at night?
Comment by TripMaster Monkey — February 15, 2007 @ 12:36 pm
his driver, of course…
February 15th, 2007 at 12:45 pmcontributions to the nightly news — interesting. oh hell, that must piss off tweety to no end … lol
February 15th, 2007 at 12:49 pmFOX News would be wise to fire O’Reilly. He would be so distraught at losing his job that he would probably commit suicide > good riddence.
February 15th, 2007 at 12:51 pmThis is the best news I have heard all day.
February 15th, 2007 at 12:52 pmCongratulations, Mr. Olberman! Keep on speaking truth to power.
February 15th, 2007 at 12:53 pmAnd there was much rejoicing!
PS, I work with a 70-year-old guy who watches BOR, as do my father and father-in-law. *shudder*
February 15th, 2007 at 12:53 pmot –
mark marin is taking al’s old time slot for 2 days…
guy’s mostly new to me… i’m not an early bird… but i can see how he would be – guys a hyper hoot! …enjoying the change…
and BIG BAND SWING !!! instead of the dead… rather nice…
ok…
February 15th, 2007 at 12:53 pmFantastic. Perhaps this will help make Mr. Olbermann a role model for other media personalities – that is, you can speak truth to power, be entertaining doing so, and get the professional accolades and benefits as a result.
February 15th, 2007 at 1:01 pmEXCELLENT! Keith, if you read this…more of your takes on the news and less Oddball.
February 15th, 2007 at 1:03 pm#27: Terry – hey, I like Keith’s Oddball segment! :)
February 15th, 2007 at 1:08 pmKeith seems like one of the good guys…
…he deserves it…
…(I hope)…
February 15th, 2007 at 1:09 pmBig band swing? I’m there!
February 15th, 2007 at 1:15 pmMr. Olbermann should probably not mess with the format of his show, because it is obviously working in attracting and keeping viewers. I like the various segments, such as Oddball. The viewer can agree with the lunacy in the obviously odd behavior of people and are set up to consider the lunacy and oddity of more serious news segments.
February 15th, 2007 at 1:24 pmNeocons can blather all they want about Air America’s problems, but the fact is that Liberal Media is marketable! There are now three VERY strong independent lefty radio shows and Olberman on the TV. It’s only a matter of time before more media companies can no longer ignore us (excluding the war mongers at Fox News, that is).
I applaud Olbermann for all his hard work. Good job!
February 15th, 2007 at 1:42 pmWithout enemies, he doesn’t have a show! Fascists need an “other” to hate or nobody would listen to them, not even dittoheads.
Whereas with Olberman, even though he goes on tirades against Bush, that’s not what his show is about! His show is about bringing the viewer what he considers the top ten news stories of the day. That’s it. It’s not complicated… He just happens to not drink the kool-aid, so to speak.
February 15th, 2007 at 1:46 pmOMG! O’Reilly will be Reeling from these bad blows!
It was just some couple of days back when Ludacris, one of his sworn and “vile” enemies took away some grammies. And now, Keith is getting honored. I believed Keith would have also sent a “Shout-out” to O’Reilly.
Lets pray bill’o’ suffers the same fate like Dr. Sami al-Arian, an associate professor of computer engineering at the University of South Florida, who O’Reilly didn’t just ratted out, but who he also got bounced from his job, and later jailed by the Department of Defense, on racketeering and terrorist charges due to his alleged association with Palestinians. this loud-mouthed “smear merchant” needs to be made to account for his great and scarey lies. If the system were to be like this: 1 big lie, 1 year imprisonment; O’Reilly would be resurrected a Prisoner, doing eternal time, for his limitless lies.
Lets pray more positive tv personalities like Ed Henry and Olberman, who represent the truth; the total opposite of what windbags like O’Reilly stands for, get more more recognition and promotions they deserve.
February 15th, 2007 at 2:12 pmThis is great news! I love Keith! So sorry, O’Lielly!
February 15th, 2007 at 2:15 pmGo KEITH!! You rock!!
February 15th, 2007 at 2:21 pm#34, Spudge_Boy: I don’t understand how big business can’t figure out that they can make more money by providing content for the majority of America, rather than the 26%ers. It doesn’t make sense to me at all. At the very minimum they can pander to the left just to make money off of us.”
During WWII. the aggressors then were the nazis, and one of the reason they got far was because, they pay damn fine.
February 15th, 2007 at 2:27 pmthe neocons aren’t doing bad too, with the little we see, we all know they are paying very very fine. and with so much spoils from the war on terror: afghanistan, iraq, and possibly, Iran: they can afford to pay sleazes like O’Reilly and buy his complete brain, integrity and soul.
I’ve wanted to read Olbermann’s comments (over lunch, on the bus), but at Crooks and Liars (and other places) I have to watch the videos. Is there a specific site where one can download the text?

Well, It’s no surprise that Keith has achieved this notable coverage and he deserves more responsibility and more money. I’ve followed the political side of his career from the beginning. When he lost the prior show on politics, I was desolate. Now, I never miss the best political show on the air. No bull, facts only…how refreshing. Rock on.
February 15th, 2007 at 2:57 pmYeah, Iran and Al-Qaeda are happy Teheran Keith has been renewed.
February 15th, 2007 at 3:02 pmWe wish him well!
February 15th, 2007 at 3:04 pmSo, four more years of Keith obsessing about O’Reilly and getting DESTROYED in the ratings by him. Fine by me. You liberal scum have a scum to admire for four more scum filled years.
February 15th, 2007 at 3:35 pmOlbermann is no better than OReilly, they both play to the masses of their political side and give tainted biased accounts of things.
February 15th, 2007 at 3:35 pmEXCELLENT! Olbermann for President! Olbermann for Chairman at the board of Carlyle! Olbermann for Chief of Staff at the Pentagon! Just keep him on air and let him do his thing.
February 15th, 2007 at 4:23 pmWAY TO GO, KEITH!!!!!
February 15th, 2007 at 4:27 pmGIVE ‘EM HELL, OLBERMANN!!!!!
O’LIE-lly, Coulter-GEIST, rest of you repugnant-repub SCUM
And CHIMPya, Torticola Cheney and Bushland Uber Allies,
HOLD ON TO YOUR ANKLES AND SPREAD ‘EM!!!!!
KEITH IS GOING TO REAM YOU ALL A NEW ONE(Sorry for the dirty job, Keith!)!!!!!
Hmm, it takes a whole lot of ignorance to say that. The kind of ignorance that makes you oblivious to the difference between truth and lies. With people like that around, who even wonders why we just don’t know what we’re doing anymore.
February 15th, 2007 at 4:29 pmGreat job, my sweet guy Keith. :)
February 15th, 2007 at 5:04 pmOne of the few straight shooter on MM
February 15th, 2007 at 5:28 pmShooters! Yowza!

Keep thinking that if somebody is on the left then he always tells the truth and if somebody is on the right he always lies. Olbermann sensationalizes and only gives half of the story (the side that benefits his cause) just like OReilly does. The people that follow him blindly are no better than the people that follow OReilly blindly.
February 15th, 2007 at 5:52 pmBig band swing? I’m there!
Comment by SKdeA — February 15, 2007 @ 1:15 pm
As soon as I saw Katy’s comment, I thought of you, SKdeA!
I can only think of two people who won’t be happy about Keith: Bill O’Reilly, and Exley! Hi, Ex, you here tonight?
February 15th, 2007 at 7:05 pmHey! Hey! Olbermann!!
February 15th, 2007 at 7:20 pmLook forward to seeing you on NBC with Brian Williams, too.
We might write Dan Abrams and ask him to reconsider Phil Donahue. MSNBC has to be happy since Olbermann came on board, and Dan Abrams took over at the top. Now if they would only get rid of those prison documentaries.

stan,
It’s obvious that you’ve got some de-programming to do…
…your over exposure to the “fair and balanced” brainwashing at…
…the Fox Propaganda Network…
…has you very confused as to what the truth really is…
…but stan my man…
…the time has come for people of conscience to…
…take a stand against evil (Bushiva and L’il Dick and company)…
…Olberman has done just that…
February 15th, 2007 at 10:18 pmMakes me finally glad to shout out:
“FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS!”
Ok, I stole that from Joe Scarborough last night, but it definitely fits. It couldn’t have happened to a better man, Keith! Keep up the great work!
February 16th, 2007 at 8:25 amstan,

I don’t watch Fox News and OReilly for the same reason I can’t stand Olbermann. They are both very biased and pander to their base. I’m sorry you can’t see that.
February 16th, 2007 at 9:00 amI guarantee all you morons on this site that Olbermonkey feels worse for the alleged war prisoners in Guatanamo than he does for the lives lost here on 9/11. He defends Iran to the full extent, soon his Meltdown show wil be broadcasted on Al Jazeera Network! Keep up the greast one-sided news stories Keith, and rememeber you will NEVER beat Bill O in ratings, not even one night of the year, that’s a fact jerk off!
February 16th, 2007 at 9:01 amO´Reilly hates Mexicans, he is a xenophobic, I live in Mexico and I pay satellite TV, I have fox news, each time I see this EGO-MAN, I see his hate to a whole country, MEXICO, and I am paying part of his salary, I want to boycott this person, you can´t imagine how many people see FOX channels here. Mexico should protest against this “man”.
February 16th, 2007 at 8:02 pmIt’s startling to read such a torrent of vitriolic liberal absurdity. If O’Reilly wasn’t around, Olbermann’s material would entirely disappear. It’s depressingly fixated, like most of the authors here.
February 24th, 2007 at 1:03 pmBad news 2
