Pelosi is not a pirate.

By Nico Pitney on Feb 15th, 2007 at 7:04 pm

Pelosi is not a pirate.

Yesterday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) launched a new blog, The Gavel. Today, a group of conservative House members issued a release claiming Pelosi had “violated copyright and trademark law on the very first day” by “using pirated content” from C-SPAN. The group suggested “the Speaker bring the gavel down on ‘the Gavel Blog.’” Within hours, the conservatives learned that their legal analysis was wrong and embarrassingly retracted their complaint.

  3. Uncle Ho says:

unb; I tried to post first on this thread, but you beat me to the punch. Congrats.

  4. veritas says:

The repugnant Rethugs were wrong on something? Apparently, they haven’t been right on anything in six long years so this just adds to the avalanche of “wrongdoing” and archaic thought processes of the Republican party. They’re passe!

  5. tom baker says:

One thing the Republican’ts could always be counted on for: going off half-cocked.

  6. unbelievable says:

Uncle Ho – you can have the next one : )

  7. Zooey says:

What a bunch of idiot tools.

  8. Gregor Samsa says:

It’s almost comical to see the petty, small-minded, busybodies that they are.

I mean, it’s not as if they have anything more important to think of, like, say, 160,00 American troops in some country in the MiddleEast. Or a ballooning deficit.

    Sshheesshh….

  9. Marie says:

Actually, the blog is a fine idea — it shows that the House is actually working toward doing something in the name of the people it represents. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, they say — so the bacterial Republiscum are trying to draw the shades.

  10. Liberal in New Mexico says:

I hope the Dems rub it in good. “Judge Nancy” rules: You’re out of order, neos.

  11. s says:

I’m glad to see all this stuff happening to the right for obvious reasons. But one reason I’m glad is that it confirms that I’ve not been nuts the last 6 years and that our nation has indeed been in the grip of a mental/emotional/spiiritual disease of extreme proportions. And a small group of very loud and very reptile like assess have infected everyone for a time. I bet Al Gore’s book coming out in May, The Assault On Reason, addresses the disease more specifically. The right wingers are dumb, cowardly, vulgar, and dishonest….again and again and again……………

  12. Cage Free Brown says:

    embarrassingly?
    I wish.
If they could be embarrassed then maybe they’d slow the f*@# down!
attack, attack, attack – it’s what they do.

  13. Raymond Funamoto says:

Ah yes, those politically-correct repugnant repubs–ALWAYS RIGHT ONLY IN THEIR OWN SICK, DISEASED LITTLE PEA-BRAINS!!!!! They should all have new titles of M.D.–MENTALLY DEFICIENT–or P.C.–PSYCHO-CERAMIC(Crackpot!)–if you see a rattlesnake and a repugnant-repub both coming toward you at the same time, which would you shoot first? That’s an unfair question–TO THE RATTLESNAKE!!!!!

I hate to point this out to the reich-wing nuts out there, butt Pittsburgh has pirates–Yo, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum. :P

  16. Immigration2008DotCom says:

Pelosi seems to care even more about message control than TP: rather than simply deleting comments she doesn’t agree with, she’s not allowing comments at all. Certainly there’s a strong possibility of abuse if she did allow them, but I’m sure she could find a way around that… unless, of course, if she’s afraid of people pointing out the flaws in her arguments.

  17. Slothrop says:

The Republic Party has a group carefully following every action and utterance of Nancy Pelosi.

Whatever she says, whatever she does — a GOP attack will follow within hours.

My advice to them would be this: watch the mindlessness. It makes you look desperate.

Instapundit doesn’t allow comments either. Is that a problem for you too?

  20. Wayne says:

No, some people just don’t want to have to put up with looney trolls.

  21. Raven says:

The White House doesn’t allow comments on it’s web site……..
…..what?……do you think they might be afraid of people pointing out the flaws in their arguments?
    (chuckle snort)

  22. George says:

A blog that allows no comments. Great. Way to go, Nancy.

  23. ForTruth says:

I saw a new thread that disappeared, it was “21″.

  24. Zooey says:

    The “21″ thread is back.

  25. Raven says:

    Yeah where did it go?
Maybe they turned up a half a dozen more and are updating…….

  26. jimbo says:

Conservative house members = ignorant as hell.

  28. katy says:

“Though we applaud the Speaker’s effort to adapt to new technology…”
except they don’t really… really they are scared shtless of the sun…

“One of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s first decisions was to deny a request by C-SPAN to be permitted to cover the House floor proceedings with its own cameras…”

that was a smart decision… but kos is roght about public domain and government owned cameras… something has to be done…

this oversight and sunshine is great! go nonna!

  29. katy says:

    “judge nancy” … heh…

  30. Smack says:

Let’s shut these scumbag repukes up forever!

    Let the indictments begin!

  31. BigMediaBlogDotCom says:

#22: It’s me, Immigration2008DotCom. I also have another site that lets you leave comments on Insty’s posts. Those with real arguments are invited to leave comments there. (Note: real arguments, not just venting).

Can anybody tell me who’s in this ”

    group of conservative House members

    “?

  33. chimpeach says:

Give it up, Republics. You’re a bunch of losers. You blew it out your ass with the Pelosi-plane thing. And now with this piracy bit, you tripped and fell on your face before you even got out of the gate. The best thing you can do for your own image and to keep from losing anymore ground is to just sit down and shut up.

  34. Liberal in New Mexico says:

Nah… they’re too frigging full of themselves to do anything that smart. Watch for thier next “smart-ass” tactic to be even more rediculous. They’re entertaining, I must say!

  35. Publicus says:

The right wing is just trying to distract us while they escalate the carnage in Iraq and start a new bloodbath in Iran.

  36. KarlX says:

jimbo, you’re smokin’ some powerful stuff, man.

  37. kelso says:

These losers are so desperate for the mud that they sling to stick. Try again you frickin’ hacks, or better yet..wait for something REAL to complain about, otherwise even the majority of republi-tards are going to think that the right-wing media is crying wolf too much.

  38. proud Dem says:

They are in such a mess of their own that they are trying to drag the Democrats down with them. You’d think they would get the picture after a while….

The Repubs sling mud at us? Big deal, mud washes off, but idiocy? It’s a lifelong stain.

  39. Marie says:

Anyone notice Bush “slipped” again and said “Democrat party” at his presser the other day? Of course, no offense intended. (ahem).
