Bush bikes through White House bomb drill.

“Dozens of high-level officials joined in a White House drill [today] to see how the government would respond if several cities were attacked simultaneously with bombs similar to those used against U.S. troops in Iraq. … President Bush went on a bike ride [this] morning and did not take part in the test.” (HT: Huffington Post)

Well, this has two meanings … either one, he knows we are safe and he is thus unconcerned, which would make all his fear mongering about imminent threats pure bs.

The other one, is he is just plain stupid and will likely end up screwing up any well laid plans for response.

If Bush and Cheney are forced to resign, then they would do it like Nixon and Agnew did. They would cut a deal to be pardoned before resigning, so they would walk away leaving the US government a train wreak. Bush family purchased the 100,000 acre ranch in Paraguay as an insurance policy in case they have to flee into exile. Paraguay would never extradite them back to the US. Cheney would probably flee to the UAE where he has stashed millions in bank accounts.

  64. rachel says:

Bush bikes through White House bomb drill.
    ——————————————————–
Just think of it this way people.

Bush get’s off on bike riding at such a time as a bomb drill and casually and cooly goes about his own business because HE will be the one to order the strikes against the US.

He is just “calibrating fire” (fine tuning the apparatus) to find any and all weakenesses in the “system” so HE can exploit them at a time of his choosing and blame it on “Iranian” terrorists this time.

Then the attacks on Iran will begin.

Watch and see, 9-11 with a twist is coming up in the very near future.

They used to call it Operation Northwoods, but I don’t know what they call it anymore.

    My name for it?

    Operation KlUsTeRfU*cK.

  65. mparker says:

Going in to work today, Bloomberg radio presented the story this way. The sentiment is theirs but the words are mine.

“In response to criticism for Katrina and the Iraq war the White House held a bomb scare drill. There were several security flaws discovered in the plan but the White House stated that this is an indication that progress is being made.”

That was the gist of it.

So in grasping for anything that might make them look the least bit competent on “security” they do their little drill and don’t even get that right. The oblivious chimp is off on his circus bike somewhere and SIX years after 911 they may be making progress with security at the White House.

Bush couldn’t secure the lid on a can of peanuts.

  66. Kurt says:

This morning on the local news — they were talking about how the resources for the National Guard are bring drained – being used in Iraq. So, if, heaven forbid, we have a national emergency — we won’t have the resources here.

  67. DoubleTap says:

When I saw that Bush wasn’t involved in the exercise, I fully expected you liberals to have a cow – and you did. The president doesn’t have to be in every staff exercise. I, as a battalion-level commander in the Army, participate in my staff’s exercises only on the outside edge, giving my intent and guidance and letting them run with it. They do the staff work and come to me with questions and then the final results. That’s because they need to be able to work together as a staff and react to events without me holding their hands. That’s their job, and that’s mine. The president and his staff are no different. I have no doubt he was fully aware of what was going on and received periodic briefings.

  68. CoffinsDrapedWithFlags says:

That was the plan… put Bush out there with the bombs not in the shelter away from the bombs. Would Cheney approve of this plan?

  69. CoffinsDrapedWithFlags says:

Damn… the fools (trolls)are still talking about clinton. Guess they just can’t get Bill off their little minds. It’s like a broken record with them… it keeps skipping and playing the same part over and over and over again.

  70. mparker says:

DoubleTap, breifing this president means nothing anyway. He’s worse then useless. How are things going for you battallion commander? How do you feel about sending troops back into combat 3 years early with no plan for an exit?

Bush said he had no reason to beleive the levee’s would be breached.

    Remember that one?
He said that AFTER he was briefed that they had already been breached.

How about not kowing about a possible attack on 911. Oh, that’s right , he was briefed on that as well but they didn’t provide the exact time, date and place so NOTHING WAS DONE. Not even a meeting until a week before the attack.

Bush also had no idea there would be an insurgency. Not because he was not told but because he had already committed himself to his “we will be greeted as liberators” fantasy. He’s still hoping to bring that one back.

Per Bush, If we ever leave Iraq we lose but we really mean to leave someday. If the British leave it’s a good thing for some reason. The enormous bases we built are not permanent. Right?

    That’s some classic Bush logic.

Let me try again…I think the filters caught my bad word.

Once again, Paul shows his love of ignorance. Yep. Presidentin’ is hard work. Or, as Bush once put it, “trying to be President.”

You know, Paul, I think Bush could have postponed this one bike ride to participate in a mock attack on the U.S. Bush himself has said basically that we are still not totally safe. But as we saw with the administration’s actions (or lack of) from the time Bush was sworn in up until 9/11, he just doesn’t give a f**k.

Have a cow? You think we’re having a cow? You’re too generous. Really.

No. We’re just revelling in the idiocy of this “trying to be a President” Bush. (and that’s his quote.)

I, as a battalion-level commander in the Army, participate in my staff’s exercises only on the outside edge, giving my intent and guidance and letting them run with it.

Say what? You don’t go bike riding or jogging when there’s an exercise going on? You actually participate? Oh, go on!

Seriously…Just what is the point of your post? At least you participate. Bush doesn’t think so, but he works for the American people. Even the ones who did not vote, or did not vote for him. He is our employee, see. So yeah, we have a right to complain if we feel that he’s displaying a sub-par performance. What would your superiors say to you if you skipped out on an exercise to go bike riding? I’m sure you could have been briefed about the whole thing, too. Would that be the same as being involved, though?

Maybe that’s why President-attempt Bush (my new title for him) sat in that Florida classroom for 7 minutes after being told a SECOND jet had crashed into the WTC. Maybe he and his handlers who were along for the trip just didn’t know what the f*ck to do. Maybe they had skipped out on a few exercises, too.

  78. jake3988 says:

Well, when 9/11 happened he stayed in the classrom.
When Katrina happened, he went on vacation.

Makes sense he’d go bike riding if something got attacked. Completes the “I’m the worst president in the history of mankind” trifecta.

  79. WC says:

Oh, STFU. What did Bush do once al Qaeda was fingered as being the group who bombed the Cole? NOTHING.

When did the Bush administration finally take terrorism seriously and have their first cabinet-level meeting on the subject? A week before 9/11.

You want to complain about what past administrations did with the enemy? Huh, big boy?

Who sold the Iranians, our enemy, weapons for cash, in violation of U.S. law? That would be the Reagan administration.

And who provided support for the Contras, also in violation of U.S. law? That would be the Reagan administration.

And speaking of Clinton, he tried to get Congress to expand the wiretapping program to track terrorists (legally, through the FISA court, I may add) and they said no.

Clinton wanted to use tagents in explosives so that they could be traced back to any terrorists using them. Congress laughed at him.

Under Clinton, a major terrorist attack on LA International Airport was thwarted when the intelligence agencies picked up increased “chatter” that led to the arrest of an al Qaeda operative, who was stopped at the border with Canada driving a car full of explosives. Clinton took action when this chatter was detected.

When similar chatter was picked up prior to the 9/11 attack, the Bush administration did nothing.

Who didn’t feel he needed to stoop to such irrelevant routines because he was much too important to waste his valuable time? What if that CEO wasn’t even working, but working out in the company gym at the time? Would that guy be an ass? A prick? An arrogant bastard? Or is he stupidly oblivious? Those are our choices in describing the man who is president of the largest superpower (as of now) in the world. Our own boy-king.
