Hersh: Bush Administration Conducting ‘Very Aggressive’ Special Operations Inside Iran

Appearing on CNN’s Late Edition to discuss his new article, “The Redirection,” Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Seymour Hersh warned that the Bush administration is “very far along” in its plans for a war with Iran.

Among the other highlights from the interview:

– Hersh said U.S. special forces and intelligence operatives have been conducting a lot of “very aggressive” activities inside Iran on the border of Iraq.

– Inside the military, they are planning “a 24 hour package” — that is, a plan to operationalize a strike on Iran within 24 hours of Bush’s order.

– Noting Bush’s steadfast refusal to talk with Iran, Hersh said, “Maybe we just have to really listen to what he is saying. And I don’t know what can stop him because he is president.”

BLITZER: And joining us now from Cairo, Sy Hersh. The article entitled, “The Redirection.” Sy, let me read one line from it. You wrote, “The Iran planning group has been handed a new assignment, to identify targets in Iran that may be involved in supplying or aiding militants in Iraq. Previously, the focus had been on the destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities and possible regime change.” Based on all your reporting, how far along are U.S. military plans for a war with Iran?

HERSH: Well, of course, they’re very far along. They have been studying this forever. They’re constantly redesigning, retooling, but right now, as I wrote, the new — look, it’s pretty obvious what’s going on. In the last month or so, the president has been talking more and more about cross- border attacks and more and more about Iranian interference and threatening American lives. So it’s not surprising they would fine-tune the targeting to after suspected training sites et cetera across the border and inside Iran. That’s just normal, I think.

BLITZER: And you write that already, some special operations forces, some U.S. intelligence forces have crossed the line and have gone into Iran. Is that right?

HERSH: Oh, yes, that’s been happening for months. There’s been a lot of very aggressive cross-border activity. It’s more than just casual. There has been a lot of — of jumping over the border, chasing bad guys, or people we think are bad guys. That’s been going on quite a bit.

[...]

BLITZER: And this is what the new defense secretary, Robert Gates, said on February 15th. Listen to this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DEFENSE SECRETARY ROBERT M. GATES: We are not, you know, for the umpteenth time, we are not looking for an excuse to go to war with Iran. We are not planning a war with Iran.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BLITZER: All right, that’s the Pentagon statement and the statement from Robert Gates. What do you say?

HERSH: Well, I guess Mr. Cheney, the vice president, did not get that message, because the other day in Australia, he once again publicly renewed the fact that all options are on the table, and pretty much made another strong threat against the Iranians.

It’s very possible, Wolf, that some of this is simply games being played by the administration that is simply designed to increase the political pressure on Iran, to jack it up. And a lot of this may be agitprop, propaganda. But inside the military, they are planning very seriously, at the president’s request, to attack Iran. And as I wrote in the article, one of the assignments they’d been given, contingency assignments — there is no operational order, no order to hit anything — but one of the contingency assignments would enable the president to at 2:00 in the afternoon say, “I want to hit,” and within 24 hours, targets would be struck — a 24-hour package.

[...]

HERSH: You know, I have been writing the same story for a year, sort of like I would call up my friends and say, it is Chicken Little, you know, the sky is falling, in the last year.

And now, obviously, it seems to be much more serious. It is much more intent. My own instinct is, Wolf, that this president is not going to leave office without doing something about Iran. And he could always negotiate, it is always on the table. And he keeps on refusing to negotiate. He keeps on saying he will not. And he keeps on talking tough. And maybe we just have to really listen to what he is saying. And I don’t know what can stop him because he is president.

Bush is predictable. He does exactly the opposite of what he says he’s going to do.

I saw this interview. CNN seems to be stepping up their crdibility factor by actually offering credible sources who use facts and evidence to support the information.

GSD – now that would be ironic… Ollie’s missles shooting American planes.

What I’m not hearing in the press is how will China react? If we attack Iran, we attack China’s oil interests. China has a much larger military than the US and an everygrowing population of males. China has the bomb, owns a big chunk of our debt, makes most of WalMarts goodies, has the ability to take out satellites and has dibbies on Iran’s oil.

China is quiet and I don’t trust their silence. A cat will patiently and silently stalk its prey. What is China planning if we attack Iran?

Why are we missing the REAL story about Hersh’s interview on CNN today. He said today in the last few minutes of the interview, the US is illegally funneling funds to anti-Shia groups throughout the Middle East, these groups the US is financing include 3 jihadist organizations with similar anti-western objectives of Al qaeda. HOW COULD YOU MISS THAT PART OF THE INTERVIEW? WHERE IS THE WHOLE TRANSCRIPT? It is much more important than the first portion of the interview, we know the US is planning to attack Iran, but we have never heard that the US is funding anti-US terrorists, its treason, its tyranny, its the most obviously impeachable offense to get Bush on. GET THE WORD OUT, find the last portion of the interview and POST IT EVERYWHERE. This could actually get him impeached. Can you imagine the headlines in middle America… US Funds Anti-US Terrorists Groups!!!

I saw the interview and was wondering about that myself. Bushco is funneling money to islamic terrorists through black bag operations. It is Iran/Contra all over again.

  20. Seixon says:

Wow, that sounds just like what he wrote almost exactly two years ago:

The Administration has been conducting secret reconnaissance missions inside Iran at least since last summer. Much of the focus is on the accumulation of intelligence and targeting information on Iranian nuclear, chemical, and missile sites, both declared and suspected. The goal is to identify and isolate three dozen, and perhaps more, such targets that could be destroyed by precision strikes and short-term commando raids.

For all those who demanded the Bush administration prove that Iranians were meddling in Iraq, which they did, how many will demand that Hersh provide any evidence that we’ve been doing any clandestine reconaissance missions inside Iran?

Funny that is, Hersh contradicts his earlier reports today:

BLITZER: And you write that already, some special operations forces, some U.S. intelligence forces have crossed the line and have gone into Iran. Is that right?

HERSH: Oh, yes, that’s been happening for months. There’s been a lot of very aggressive cross-border activity. It’s more than just casual. There has been a lot of — of jumping over the border, chasing bad guys, or people we think are bad guys. That’s been going on quite a bit.

Wait, wait, wait. In January 2005, Hersh reported that the administration had been conducting reconaissance missions inside Iran since the summer of 2004. Now he’s saying that US intelligence forces have only been in Iran for months?

What’s it going to be Hersh? Were you right in 2005 (well, no) or are you right now (fool me once….)?

Oh well, the drooling liberal masses will eat it up without thinking, as evidenced quite easily here at Think Progress. Good job guys.

Don’t let Hersh’s contradictory record get you down. Believe. BELIEVE!

  21. Tobey Tall says:

This is disturbing ………America justification for war against terror when all along America is supporting terrorists – this cannot be right

US funds terror groups to sow chaos in Iran
America is secretly funding militant ethnic separatist groups in Iran in an attempt to pile pressure on the Islamic regime to give up its nuclear programme.

  35. Seixon says:

    Valiant,

Even Think Progress has made amends with Iranians meddling in Iraq, are you disavowing the official dogma now? Everyone knows that Iranians are meddling in Iraq, the only thing that isn’t certain is how far high up the authorization for that goes within the Iranian government, as Bush has even said himself.

There’s a difference between cartoon pictures of mobile weapons labs and actual photographic evidence of weapons caches produced in Iran in 2006, you bumbling fool.

Meanwhile, Hersh doesn’t even have any cartoon pictures, but you take him at his word, even though he claimed the same thing two years ago.

When will you guys get your heads out of your asses? When will you put your partisan bullshit aside and realize that you are being duped? When will you demand the same standard of evidence from your favorite mainstream media sources as you do of the Bush administration?

You’re all a bunch of partisan hack hypocrites.

The funny thing is that I’ll be back here one year from now telling you all “I told you so” and then Hersh will pop back up and tell the same story, and you’ll believe him all over again.

Well, I didn’t believe it 2 years ago, and I still don’t believe it. I’ve been right for two years. How’s your record? What’s a “word monger”?

I also did not believe 2 years ago that Bush would invade Syria or Venezuela, even though many around these parts did. Hugo Chavez has been spoon-feeding the Left a fairytale of Bush invading his country for years. The Left believes it. I don’t. It’s been several years now. Look at the result.

First off I mentioned it yesterday, did you ever consider the possibility that Hersh, by talking about the possibility of an invasion of Iran may have caused the administration to delay such a move?

Second, Iran is meddling in Iraq, that is a given. But who else is? Saudi Arabia most definitely is, and if they are not providing arms, they are providing millions of dollars to Sunni insurgents. So why do we not invade them? It is also likely that weapons companies from Russia and China are selling their products to insurgents, do we invade them? Turkey is meddling in the north, do we invade them? European weapons companies are selling their products to insurgents, do we invade them? And, oh my god, US weapons companies are supplying insurgents also, if not directly, their products still end up in insurgent hands, so do we bomb ourselves?

All that we have to do is to send two mujahidin to the furthest point east to raise a piece of cloth on which is written al-Qaida, in order to make the generals race there to cause America to suffer human, economic, and political losses without their achieving for it anything of note other than some benefits for their private companies.

This is in addition to our having experience in using guerrilla warfare and the war of attrition to fight tyrannical superpowers, as we, alongside the mujahidin, bled Russia for 10 years, until it went bankrupt and was forced to withdraw in defeat.”

  50. Your Conscience says:

No of course not retard. Kristol is a blow hard who has been nothing but wrong with his Nostrodamus predictions. Hersh has sources, verifiable, within the Pentagon that has not been refuted by the Pentagon. Good lord are you that stupid. Of course there is no comparison.

  51. Tobey Tall says:

  52. Seixon says:

    AshenShard,

First off I mentioned it yesterday, did you ever consider the possibility that Hersh, by talking about the possibility of an invasion of Iran may have caused the administration to delay such a move?

Yes, because that stopped Bush with Iraq. Golf clap. OK, I’ll play. Sure, it’s plausible. So what? Since when did plausible become the thing to hang your hat on?

Second, Iran is meddling in Iraq, that is a given.

Woe, careful there, it seems not everyone around here knows that… You might get called a neocon, fair warning.

But who else is? Saudi Arabia most definitely is, and if they are not providing arms, they are providing millions of dollars to Sunni insurgents.

Well, I haven’t seen any evidence of this, but it certainly is plausible.

So why do we not invade them?

Well, we’re not moving to invade Iran either, so why do you ask?

It is also likely that weapons companies from Russia and China are selling their products to insurgents, do we invade them? Turkey is meddling in the north, do we invade them? European weapons companies are selling their products to insurgents, do we invade them? And, oh my god, US weapons companies are supplying insurgents also, if not directly, their products still end up in insurgent hands, so do we bomb ourselves?

See above. Although, I would point out, that not all of the statements you have made here are in the least factually supportable at all. To you, is a person “supplying weapons” to someone else simply by producing weapons that end up in someone’s hands? In other words, is Apple “supplying” Kim Jong Il with iPods?

    Krazny,

It takes a sheer genius to point out that Hersh has been trying to sell this story for over two years without it having appreciably changed at all? Hm. I thought it just took the ability to think critically. I guess that might be considered genius around these parts. See you in 6-12 months. We’ll see who’s kidding who.

  53. Tom3 says:

Hersh has been saying for two years that we are meddling in Iran.

He never predicted an attack on Iran, he just reported that the US was already messing around in Iran and now is planning to be able to attack Iran within 24 hours of Chimpy’s phone call.

The problem with the Reichwingnut psychosis is that it distorts reality so the Reichwingnut spins everything to fit their bizarro worldview.

  57. Krazny says:

The critical thinking you are missing, is that the takeover of Iran is mentioned in the PNAC, perhaps you should look it up. The Bush administration has made zero threatening moves to any other country in the region. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan are not exactly the greatest guys in the world, but they are allies. Iran is not.

You seem to have far to much invested in making your rather absurd points, you are rude and abusive, why do you think people tell you to screw off? Get a clue kiddo.

  58. Seixon says:

    Tom3,

Seixon is another reich wingnut troll, spouting the talking point lies about liberals all wanting to surrender and moslems all wanting to kill us.

I’ve never said any such thing, ever. But hey, when you don’t have the balls to admit you’re being hoodwinked, why not lie?

The NIE says Iran is a bit player in Iraq. Iraqis don’t need to get shaped charge RPG rounds from Iran, they have piles of them all over Iraq that our troops never bothered to secure.

The NIE says no such thing.

The reichwingnuts’ only solution to the mess we are in, is to make it worse by attacking Iran. Reichwingnuts like PeteB and Seixon are batshit psychotic and should be in a mental hospital with no computers.

LOL! I’m here saying that Bush is NOT going to invade Iran, and you accuse me of wanting to attack Iran. The insanity never stops here at Think Progress, apparently a mental asylum.

Tom3 – I was looking for Binkcley earlier or any schitzophrenic with a gun in an earlier post. Where are the Binkcleys of the world when you really need them. Reagon was less of a threat because he slept all of the time. Maybe boy Bush needs some stronger sleeping pills.

  66. Seixon says:

    Your Conscience,

No of course not retard. Kristol is a blow hard who has been nothing but wrong with his Nostrodamus predictions. Hersh has sources, verifiable, within the Pentagon that has not been refuted by the Pentagon. Good lord are you that stupid. Of course there is no comparison.

OK, so Kristol and Hersh have been saying the same thing, but Kristol is wrong and Hersh is right. Ngggghhhh… Verifiable sources? And you evidence this how? The Pentagon has not refuted it?

    Ehm, from Hersh’s article:

(Cheney’s office and the White House declined to comment for this story; the Pentagon did not respond to specific queries but said, “The United States is not planning to go to war with Iran.”)

Oooops. I know you think that calling me stupid will enable to believe what you want without resistance, but now I’ve just proven you’re making shit up as you go along to further your BELIEF.

    Tom3,

Hersh has been saying for two years that we are meddling in Iran.

And we still haven’t seen a shred of evidence. I hear Karl Rove got indicted last year. I guess we won’t find out the “truth” until 2123. Or something. You know. Whenever we are all dead and forgotten.

    Zooey,

Heh. I just love making you waste your precious “epic” responses on my bullshit.

Iran is a significant contributor to attacks on coalition forces, and also supports violence against the Iraqi security forces and the Iraqi people,” said a senior defense official, who was joined by a defense analyst and an explosives expert, both also from the military.

The officials said they would speak only on the condition of anonymity, so the explosives expert and the analyst, who would normally not speak to the news media, could provide information directly. The analyst’s exact title and full name were not revealed to reporters. The officials released a PowerPoint presentation including photographs of the weaponry, but did not allow media representatives to record, photograph or videotape the briefing or the materials on display.

Oh, the strongest evidence the US military could come up: PowerPoint presentation.

    What did you say, Seixon?

Credibility is an interesting thing around these parts, apparently.

No links, heard it on Thom Hartman. We have also lost habeas corpus through the Military Commission Act.

The obvious take over of the Middle East and US is terrorizing.

Your earlier comparison and claim Hersh is without credence is simple tripe and you know it. Your sourcing that the Pentagon is not ‘planning’ to go to war with iran as did Gates is laughable. The claim and verifiabled sources claimed by Hersh is that plans have been drawn up. You would admit that plans have been drawn up. Also you not so naive as to assert Hersh does not have verifiable sources do you?

With regard to STOPPING CHIMPya, this requires a history lesson. Comment #2 above puts it very succinctly. Mine is a bit more involved, but infinitely MORE GRATIFYING…To wit:
The Fifth SHOGUN or “King” of the Tokugawa dynasty of Japan, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi(2/23/1646-2/19/1709) was moderately mentally retarded though of a precocious bent. He was the shogun during the famous 47 Ronin Episode of the Asano clan members. Tsunayoshi sentenced Asano Naganori to death unfairly for committing justifiable mayhem by drawing his sword and striking Kira Yoshinaka within the inner chambers of Edo castle. The clan members avenged their lord’s death by hunting down and killing Kira and telling off Tsunayoshi with their act and then they all committed ritual suicide, this episode in Japanese history famously dramatised in Kabuki plays, literature and film as CHUSHINGURA, or “The Treasury of Loyal Retainers,” the Tale of the 47 Ronin. In addition, Tsunayoshi was a capricious tyrant-despot, nicknamed “The Dog Shogun”(Inu-Kubo) because he passed a law that made it a capital crime to injure or kill a dog or animal, and people who even inadvertently threw rocks at scavenging dogs or animals could be beheaded or worse! Anyway, Tsunayoshi did these and other EXTREME, UNJUST acts until in 1709, his wife stabbed him to death and killed herself in a fit of unbridled rage. Tsunayoshi was BORN in the Year of the Dog in the Asian Animal Zodiac. ALSO BORN IN THE YEAR OF THE DOG(2 February 1946 to 21 January 1947) ARE

  123. VerbalKint says:

Maybe Seixon and michael really do get paid to write their completely bizarre crap. It is perfectly rational to believe that Bush is planning to attack Iran. In fact, the path Bush is going down is paralleling Iraq so closely that it is damn near irrational to believe otherwise. Seixon’s idiotic theory, stated again and again, that liberal reporters are trying to make Bush look bad, has been blown out of the water by Kristol and the neocons at AEI, who have been saying they are “optimistic” that Bush will attack Iran, and have admitted (bragged) that they are urging him to do it. These are exactly the same people Bush has been relying on for advice all along. Yet Seixon and michael try to casually dismiss it all as though no is going to notice the complete disconnect between what they are saying and reality. Really pathetic. So who would stick with this garbage unless they were actually getting paid to write it? You would have to be a masochist otherwise.

I challenged all of you to provide one piece of evidence presented in his article to back up his opinion and you couldn’t!

Those [who say this] are witless. Islam says Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all! Does this mean that Muslims should sit back until they are devoured by [the unbelievers] Islam says Kill them [the non-Muslims], put them to the sword and scatter [their armies]. Does this mean sitting back until [non-Muslims] overcome us Islam says Kill in the service of Allah those who may want to kill you! Does this mean that we should surrender to the enemy Islam says Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and in the shadow of the sword! People cannot be made obedient except with the sword! The sword is the key to Paradise, which can be opened only for Holy Warriors! There are hundreds of other [Koranic] verses and Hadiths [sayings of the Prophet] urging Muslims to value war and to fight. Does all that mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim.” – Ayatollah Khomeini 1942

The [Iranians] President’s chief strategist, Hassan Abbassi, has come up with a war plan based on the premise that “Britain is the mother of all evils” – the evils being America, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, the Gulf states and even Canada, all of whom are the malign progeny of the British Empire. “We have a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization,” says Mr Abbassi. “There are 29 sensitive sites in the U.S. and in the West. We have already spied on these sites and we know how we are going to attack them… Once we have defeated the Anglo-Saxons the rest will run for cover.”

The IRGC chief warned that Iran was seeing through “critical days” and “fate-determining years”. He described the purpose of Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution as the “Salvation of Muslims” from the hands of the “oppressive U.S. and Israel”.

Pat: I have so many issues with Bush and the way he has led this country but with the voices from all the over world that tear him down, I feel that enough people have pointed out the errors, so I dont go out of my way to bring them up.

I think it’s funny when you ask a Leftist what they think will happen if we leave Iraq tomrorow and instead of answering they say something “Well Bush said 3 plus 3 equals 5 two years ago.

Past mistakes are in the past, I can’t get one Leftist to look to the future. None of them will say what the consequences will be if we leave. They are so backward looking and regressive.

Bush’s public leadership has been awful, I blame him for the collapse of support. But he is one of the few leaders in this country who realizes the seriousness of the threat we face and I have to support him. I cant expect perfection from human beings. From everything I know about Bush I know he’s a honorable person. THe attack he faces from everyone in Washinton is totally over the top. Lessor men than he wouldn’t be able to stand to it.

The Surge might work, but Sadr is following the Democrats plan… just wait a little bit longer and we’ll leave.

We must project to the world that we are staying in Iraq for AS LONG AS WE NEED TO.. for a generation if we have to.

Instead, everyone in the Middle East is preparing for the day that we shamefully leave. Right now our presence is just something to endure the inconvience of. The Pause button has been pressed.

After the Democrats get their craven way, the Play X 2 Speed will be pressed and no one will be able to stop it.

    Bye bye Sweden
At the same time as immigration to Sweden increased, emigration out of the country also rose. During 2006, 44,908 people emigrated, an increase of 18 percent compared to the previous year.

The last time a higher number of people emigrated from Sweden was in 1892, 45,504 people packed their bags and left the country.

    Bye bye Germany
Faced with poor job prospects, high taxes and an intrusive bureaucracy, more and more Germans are choosing to emigrate. Most of those who leave, though, are highly qualified [and young] – which could mean devastating economic consequences. [...] They are fed up with living in a country where all opportunities already seem to be taken: opportunities to succeed in one’s career, to own property and to achieve prosperity.

    Bye bye Holland
In the first nine months of this year, almost 100,000 people left the Netherlands to settle elsewhere, 12,000 more than the same period last year. […] The net effect means the Dutch population was reduced in the 2004-06 period by 75,000. In the preceding three years, there was a positive net migration of 75,000. Despite the dramatic reversal, the number of immigrants is also on the increase.

    Bye bye Britain
Apparently almost a million British citizens have left the country since 2000, to live somewhere else. Last year, according to the Office for National Statistics, 380,000 people left Britain, of whom about 200,000 were British citizens. At the same time, though, 565,000 immigrants arrived in Britain, the overwhelming majority from […] [Muslim] Pakistan and Bangladesh.

These facts were reported as if they were entirely unrelated. Nobody dared to venture that there was perhaps a very direct and causal relationship […] Even for our most free-thinking and dependable think-tank, Civitas, this was a bridge too far. Its spokesman, Robert Whelan, ventured that perhaps the parlous state of the [national] health service [NHS] was to blame for the exodus. You know, I suspect the majority of those who left had next to no contact with the NHS; they are, in the main, pre-middle-aged and healthy. No, it seems patently clear to me that an important reason […] that so many Brits are getting the hell out is that they think there are too many non-European foreigners here […]

According to the report, a diplomat from one of the gulf states visiting Washington on Saturday said the three states, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates, have told the United States that they would not object to Israel using their airspace, despite their fear of an Iranian response.

Al-Siyasa further reported that NATO leaders are urging Turkey to open its airspace for an Attack on Iran as well and to also open its airports and borders in case of a ground attack.

According to a British diplomat who spoke to an Al-Siyasa correspondent, Turkey will not repeat the mistake it made in 2003, when it refused to open its airspace to U.S. Air Force overflights en route to attacking Iraq.”

But those who study Islamic Holy War will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world…. Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Does all that mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim.” – Ayatollah Khomeini

“The final goal of the revolution is to create global Islamic rule and a regime of law to be led by the Imam Mahdi”. – commandant of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi

commandant of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, said on state television, “The final goal of the [1979] revolution is to create global Islamic rule and a regime of law to be led by the Imam Mahdi”. “God willing, the 21st century will see the defeat of the U.S. and the Zionists, and the victory of freedom-seeking nations of the world”.

The final goal of the [1979] revolution is to create global Islamic rule and a regime of law to be led by the Imam Mahdi”.

It would not surprise me if we are sending brain-washed Guantanomo Bay prisoners to Iraq as suicide bombers

That is some of the WORST butchering of the English language I have ever seen. You give conspiracy theorists a bad name, dude…

Give this whole Iran scenario another year and a half. If it looks like a Democrat (who supports troop pull-out, mind you…) is going to win the Presidency, then you can bet that he’ll pull the trigger on, at the very least, expanding the war into Iran to attack sites supporting Iraqi insurgents. Then, using the still stalled “talks” with Iran regarding de-nuclearization as an excuse, he’ll launch yet another regime-change attack – this time directed at Ahmadinejad. We may NEVER get out of the middle east so long as Bushco is running the show…

  271. Tasky says:

    Evil Twins

When you closely examine 21st century Republicanism and Islamic extremism against the light of truth and the facts, there really is no difference. They are both evil twins.
One twin thinks that it is OK to hijack airliners and murder thousands of people by flying the aircraft into the twin towers of New York. The other evil twin (21st century republicanism) is OK with that event and actually lets it happen so they can use this tragedy to their self serving advantage. Both twins use God and religion to justify their lack of integrity, moral deficits and personal crimes against humanity. Both twins also use God and Religion as a shield to ward off criticism anytime someone exposes their shortcomings, lies and criminal activities. Both twins only represent a small minority of people and have sociopathic views not shared by the mainstream or majority of any religion or population of people. In short…they are evil twins and they will go to any extreme to get control over the lives and livelihood of others.

In retrospect, Bush’s keepers and handlers must have known to some degree that he was a total screw-up before he first became president. Bush and his daddy Cheney were both very clueless about being true political statesmen or leaders of this nation. As such, they did the only thing they knew how to do… fleece the middle and lower classes of the nation to make the rich even richer. It is no secret that Bush was the worst governor Texas ever knew and the tax payers of Texas continually got stiffed by Bush and his policies. Actually, there is nothing that Bush has ever touched that did not turn to crap whether as Governor of Texas or President of the USA.

And Cheney…he is the evil twin’s evil daddy. He is nothing more then a corporate CEO who likes to see rich corporations prosper from the sweat, blood and life of others. Thanks to Cheney, Halliburton Corporation has been allowed carte blanch to freely rake in billions in American taxpayer’s money, blood, & lives. Also, Cheney is the kind of guy who likes to approve and sign anti-gay legislation while at the same time…telling the world that it is out of line to make mention of his lesbian daughter, her lesbian lover or out of wedlock pregnancy. Pretty typical of most Republicans who like to have it both ways. They claim to be paragons of virtue and morality and this is somehow made manifest with anti-gay rhetoric and anti-gay legislation while they hide the fact that they have gay family members and gay members within their ranks.

Regardless of all the lies that Bush & Cheney made to the people of the USA during the 2000 campaign, the truth is that fact that they were simply liberal neoconservative puppets of the Project for a New American Century and those were the only interests they represented. In retrospect, it is amazing that the Republican Party was stupid enough to back these 2 idiots considering the damage they’ve done to the Republican Party. Money is what got these 2 unqualified maggots into the Whitehouse and that, just like absolute power, only attracts the absolutely corrupt. In retrospect, Bush & Cheney are both true cowards who never ever served their country which is partially why they run it like true hypocrites.

In any case, here is the timeline of events regarding the evil twin in the USA (21st century republicanism) from the moment it illegally stole the Whitehouse in 2000.

First line of business upon seizing political power in the USA was to ignore any and all credible information from the previous presidential administration regarding the real threat that terrorism posed to this nation. If that did not work then the other tactic was to lie about having all the facts and put the blame on various agencies. If that did not work, simply blame the previous president even though that president went to great lengths to educate and warn the new president of the dangers radical Islam posed to the USA. The Bush presidency has been the best friend that radical Islam and Islamic terrorists could ever have. These two evil twins just keep ratcheting up the problems with very little to no resistance.

Second line of business was to get a rubberstamp congress. Translated: Remove the legal divide that is supposed to exist between Congress and the Whitehouse so that Rove, Bush & Cheney will have no obstacles to promoting their self serving anti-constitutional goals. Bush took a very long vacation when he first became president and all he did was waste American tax payer dollars going around the country doing anything and everything possible to bolster Republican control of Congress. It eventually happened. From that point forward, democracy in this nation had become severely compromised as Congress had ceased to be the voice of the people and had become the Republican auction house for legislation to the highest bidder. Legislation to make tax cuts for the filthy rich minority of the nation were many of the outcomes here as that is exactly who pushed for the legislation. This met with little to no resistance when it went through each congressional hurdle.

Third line of business was to allow something horribly tragic to happen to Americans on American soil by foreigners. We all know this as 9/11. This was the so called “another pearl harbor” that Bush’s neoconservative handlers and keepers at the Project for a New American Century wanted. This was the flash point they had waited for in order to promote their murderous power and wealth consolidating plans and it is not a conspiracy theory. It is a known fact that Bush knew this attack against America was under way long enough to save the second twin tower and it is also a known fact that Cheney conveniently happened to be at NORAD while this attack was going on and that he grounded all military jets. Cheney personally grounded all available fighter jets so that they could not intercede with the events that were in progress.

After the destruction of the twin towers on 9/11, Rove, Bush, Cheney, the PNAC & their rich wealthy corporate elite knew they could get anything they wanted all at tax payer’s expense and taxpayer’s lives. From this point…they simply keep this up as long as they can maintain power and control over others. For the Evil Twin in the USA (21st Century Republicanism), this created the perfect smoke screen for them to get away with anything they wanted all under the disguise of God, Country, Patriotism, fear of terrorism and Protecting the USA. Raiding the national treasury and diverting upwards towards the rich and elite who did not need the money had never been easier.

For Republicans at the top of the food chain who got a chance to participate in this pathetic little circus, here was the pay off:

    POLITICAL CONTROL & BIG MONEY!!!

    1) Fleecing the middle and lower classes of the USA. Bush has quietly shifted this nation backwards to the dark ages of a “trickle down economy on steroids” and this one is far more destructive to our nation and to democracy then any past trickle down economy. This one cuts taxes on the rich, shifts that burden and more to the middle class and spends like there is no tomorrow all while claiming to be conservative. It’s amazing that the religious right wing buys into this non-conservative form of government. However, the one dimensional voting habits of the religious right wing are why they are liked by the Republican Party. The religious right wing never votes the big picture and always casts their vote for any pathetic waste of skin who claims to be moral or against abortion.

    2) Consolidation of wealth towards the rich, wealthy & elite of the nation. This is a universal constant during war times and is always the outcome of war profiteering. History always bears this out and those who understand this always smell a profit to be made in the middle of the shed blood of our citizens.

    3) Politicians who are not of, for or by the people but who are in the pockets of a wealthy minority of the country. Bush, Rove & Cheney are responsible for some of the most corrupt legislation and policies that money can buy. Bush pimped the presidency and made his republican controlled congress an auction house to the highest bidder. It worked! In retrospect, this actually exposed Republicans for what they really are as opposed to the ideology that they claim to stand for. It’s like claiming to believe that you are conservative while living a life that is a total lie and is the complete opposite of one’s stated conservative or family values based beliefs and ideology.

    4) Legislation that cuts taxes only for the rich, wealthy & elite under the general lie of tax cuts for all. The only real beneficiaries of Bush’s tax cuts have been a very small minority of rich wealthy people who do not even need the cuts. This is typical of neoconservatives and to some degree…Republican political tactics regarding taxation. They claim to be for fewer taxes so the way they approach this is simply to redesign the tax tables so that the middle class pays more in taxes then those who are filthy rich. That way Republicans can say that they did not increase taxes on the nation.

The end result is still the same which ends up being increased taxation on the middle class to make up for the unnecessary tax cuts Republicans always make for the rich. In this case, it’s even worse because Bush’s administration has demonstrated Enron style accounting tactics with our nation and his administration has been a terrible steward with our nation’s resources, treasury and lives. This is truly Satan wearing the costume of conservatism and the face of the religious right wing and Republicans. Sadly…there is absolutely nothing conservative about this current generation of people who belong to 21st century republicanism.

    5) Assurances that the rich and wealthy of the nation will not be paying for the financial indiscretions of the Bush / Cheney / Rove Republican circus that has created debt far exceeding all past Democrat presidencies combined. The way this presidency has being paying for their war mongering has been on wasting our nation’s resources, and largely doing so on credit. Bush even admits that he does not know who all his administration has borrowed money from in order to finance his daddy’s personal private war of greed and aggression. However, his administration goes to great lengths to hide this particular truth. Bush & Cheney have been mortgaging the future of the middle and lower classes of this nation and effectively hiding it.

Our nation currently owes hundreds of millions of dollars to other nations thanks to all the money that the Bush administration has borrowed to waste on war and other illegal, unconstitutional efforts. Throwing away our tax dollars while borrowing hundreds of millions of dollars from other nations and decreasing taxation on the rich and wealthy has created debt that our grandchildren’s children will most likely be stuck with. While economic indicators on Wall Street are constantly touted as evidence that our Nation’s economy is doing great, those numbers can easily dip into the negative in a New York minute if Bush is allowed to drive this nation into further debt.

    Finito

There ya have it. One evil twin (radical Islam) loves to murder innocent people in the name of Allah and their radical beliefs that are completely outside of mainstream Islam. The other evil twin (The 21st Century Republicanism of Rove, Bush, his evil daddy Cheney, Neo-conservatism and the PNAC) actually allows the mass murder of their own citizens in the name of God in order to get what they want. They both got exactly what they wanted starting on 9/11/2001.

However, the evil twin in the USA probably got more then they wanted. One constant in this universe is the fact that those who have delusions of personal power and think that they are great usually do not require help from anyone in screwing things up for everyone. Bush, Cheney, Rove and their kind probably got exactly what their self serving, greedy hearts desired but they are probably clueless regarding the price that they personally will have to pay in the end. It’s not over and history will ultimately remember them for the spineless, gutless reptiles that they are along with their many right wing sycophants who share their un-American, un-Christian, un-Godly, un-constitutional views and ideologies.

Tasky: Your vast stupidity has no concept of what Islamism is. If anything the group-think america hating of you and your friends here are the American analog for Jihad. Totally unhinged, emotional, illogical, rapid automatons, who arrogantly think you’re everyone’s better. but you suck.

  273. Jexicon says:

em>Wow, that sounds just like what he wrote almost exactly two years ago:

Believe. BELIEVE!

    Comment by Seixon — February 25, 2007 @ 2:04 pm

—————————–Summer of 2004 was about 30 months ago. And I guess u never knew that 30 months could be described as “months.” Just as a person may very well describe something that happened 30 years ago as having happened years ago. Maybe try some good menatation, so that u might stregthen ur power 2 think critically.

  274. Seixon says:

Needless to say, I have still not been contacted by whoever was talking tough about making a wager.

    Jexicon,

I do not know of a single (literate) person who would describe a period of 30 months as “months”. Nor do I know of such a person who would describe a period of 10,950 days as “days”. That was just about the most pathetic attempt to defend Hersh’s nonsense yet. He could have said nanoseconds and you would still say he was correct…. Golf clap.

Winds of War: Is There a Light at the End of the Tunnel?

All of us anti-jihadists have for several years blogged about the Islamist’s threat to our freedom loving civilization and those that appease and support that threat. Some of us have tried to educate the masses for many years, others for just a year or less. All of us wonder if we are doing any good or just ‘preaching to the choir’. So, we might want to stop and take a breather and see some of the advancement in the Muslim communities that the anti-jihadist bloggers is contributing to.

I’d like to submit that there may just be a light at the end of the tunnel – and that light is not from an oncoming train.

First, think about this fellow bloggers. Many of us have been at this for only several short years and this conflict between the Islamist ideology and that of the free world is just in its beginnings – really. It’s in its beginnings because we are only now fully understanding the threat that is unfolding and some of us are able to piece together and identify the actual tactics that they’re using. It’s becoming clear that there are more than one jihads in play here. Militant jihad is only the most well-known. But the litigation, media, institutional, cultural, demographic, and economic and financial jihads, and the Muslims that support them, are only now being identified.

Second, over the last year or so, there have been individual Muslims or scholars on Islam like Walid, Hirsi Ali, and Spencer who have risen to the challenge, regardless of the mainstream media’s ambivalence, and have voiced their opposition to the Islamist agenda.

To me, this is encouraging and should be seen as real progress in such a short time as seen thorough the anti-jihadist window of last few years. Here are some recent examples of why I mean.

Lately, there have been individual but not so publicized news items like these that prove that we are having some effect on the debate. This is an open letter sent by Ibrahim Abdul Mu’min, the NY Chapter President of the Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism.

    ==quote==
I am a Muslim, a Conservative, Patriotic, American-born, anti-terrorist, Muslim. I believe in Allah*, his mercy, and his prophets. I believe in the mission of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh)*. However… I care nothing for the phony fahtwahs* of mad-mullahs. I denounce the scholars-for-petrol-dollars, the jihad ravings of insane, homicide bombers, and the Wahabi House-of-Saud fraud. I will stand against all terrorist activities, completely, with no apologetic, leftist, misgivings.

It is a deliberate, heretical, misinterpretation of the Holy Qur’an by power-hungry, Islamic-Fascist gangsters who care nothing for the words of Allah or his prophets! It is Fascism*, I have been warned by other Muslims not to use this word… but the oppressive and brutal dictatorships that foster, aid, and abet terrorism can be called nothing else. In this repressive, terrorist view of Islam there is no communion of man and God…no beautiful mingling of soul and spirit…no soft, sweet smells so beloved by the Prophet (pbuh)…. Never. The smell of this type of Fascist Islam is the smell of violence and death…the smell of blood and burning.

    ==unquote==
Another article about Muslim’s who see the danger posed by their mosques.

    ==quote==

Gina Khan is a British Muslim woman who lives near the men suspected of a plot to kidnap and kill a Muslim soldier. She says that it’s time to stop the radicals, and to stop being afraid of them. Gina Khan is a very brave woman. Born in Birmingham 38 years ago to Pakistani parents, she has run away from an arranged marriage, dressed herself in jeans and dared to speak out against the increasing radicalisation of her community.

Over the past 15 years, she says, there has been an influx of jihadist thinking into her part of Birmingham. Bookshops sell radical literature and the mosques preach separatism and hatred. The Government and the white Establishment have allowed it to happen. And she is outraged about it. “It’s all happening on your doorstep,” she says, “and Britain is still blind to the real threat that is embedded here now.

“I truly believe that all these mosques here are importing jihad. The radical teaching is filtering through, and these mosques are not regulated. They are supporting everything that is wrong about Islam. We within the community knew this. People are lying. They are in denial. They knew they were bringing in radicals. “But there are still more English and British people, no matter what, and if they got together and wanted to stamp out this radicalism, they could. I am wasting my time talking to my own people; that is why I am sitting here talking to you, to open your eyes.”

    ==unquote==

And this on the veil controversy in the UK.

    ==quote==

Britain’s first Muslim peer has condemned women wearing veils as “a barrier to integration” and called for an end to their use.

Reigniting the controversial debate over the wearing of the face veil, or niqab, Lord Ahmed of Rotherham said there was no religious reason why Muslim women should wear them and that they were now causing society more harm than good.

The Yorkshire peer, who last night spoke out over veils in a debate in the heart of the Arab world, stressed that a sensible discussion was needed urgently within Muslim communities about whether veils represented a danger to integration in British society.

He backed the motion “This House believes the face veil is a barrier to integration in the West” at a debate in Doha, Qatar.

He told the Yorkshire Post: “The veil is now a mark of separation, segregation and defiance against mainstream British culture.

    ==unquote==

Add these news stories to women questioning the second class status of Muslim women claiming sexism is rife in many Muslim communities, Muslim leaders in Australia back plan to fly the Australian flag outside mosques, and even a Saudi journalist and expert on Islamic movements and Islamic fundamentalism as well as Saudi affairs wrote that the Muslim Brotherhood should be disbanded.

Finally, there are real anti-jihadist organizations that have come into being that are not the mouthpieces of the Islamists.

The Islamic Forum for Democracy was formed in March of 2003 by a group of Muslim professionals in the Phoenix Valley of Arizona. The group’s founder is M. Zuhdi Jasser, M.D. He felt that AIFD could formally articulate the fact that in commentary and scholarship that many Muslims believe that they are able to practice their faith more freely and more Islamically in America than in any other place in the world.

AIFD seeks to make a small contribution to the body of thought which articulates an understanding of Islam which separates religion and state and is in complete harmony with the U.S. Constitution and our citizenship pledge.

In the wake of 9/11 and a series of terrorist attacks in Indonesia, President Wahid and the founder of LibForAll established the LibForAll Foundation – inspired by the methods used by President Wahid’s own ancestors to defend Javanese culture from religious extremism five centuries ago. Within Indonesia, they have formed a network of opinion leaders in the fields of religion, education, popular culture, government, business and the media working to preserve their culture’s enlightened embrace of religious tolerance and diversity in the face of a renewed tide of extremism that is sweeping the entire Muslim world.

Then we have CAIR and the MAS– that blatant supporter of the Islamist cause. But as it turns out, they may not speak for as many Muslims as they think. The 910 Group reports:

    ==quote==

“An inspection of CAIR’s most recent publicly available IRS Form 990 (2004) shows for that year they received $119,029 in membership dues for that year (line 3). But at $25 per membership (the current rate is $35), that would mean that in 2004, CAIR only had 4,761 dues-paying members – less than 5,000 members out of 8 million Muslims in America. This would mean that CAIR only represents 1 out of every 1,680 Muslims. Even if a lower 6 million Muslim population figure were assumed, CAIR could still only claim representation for 1 out of every 1,260 Muslims for that year.

“MAS is in even less representative than CAIR. In 2004, MAS received $87,299 in membership dues — a dramatic decrease in membership from 2003 ($366,613 in members dues received) and 2002 ($378,993 received). Membership has declined so rapidly for MAS that they have stopped offering memberships on their website altogether, though MAS has not publicly acknowledged, let alone explained, their stunning membership decline since 9/11.”

    ==unquote==

Are all these positive signs? Don’t know for sure. But there is some courage in the Muslim community when facing those who want to advance the Islamist agenda. It will take some time to see.

Or to quote Einstein, “Civilization is a race between education and catastrophe.”

  276. Dave Gaspard says:

The rhetoric being used in regards to Iran is the same rhetoric that was used in the pre-invasion to Iraq, only the reasons to attack is different. It is becoming more obvious that PNAC is the map that is being followed to implement foreign policy, regardless of how the american people may feel about it. Unless the mainstream media renews its reporting in the way it was intended ;asking the tough questions, giving voice to the voiceless, and showing all sides to a story, we will, as citizens once again find ourselves audience to a conflict , being fought in our name, that most never wanted to begin with.

  277. Vince P says:

The Rhetoric that Regressives use to oppose the US defending itself against Iran is the same Rhetoric the Regressives use whenever the US does anything that is in its interest.

  278. ron smith says:

i was reading the posts and i find it very disturbing, such deep hatred ,reasonless, thoughtless, people just saying the worst thing they can think of i suppose trying to show of their intellectual humor i think somthing has happened to us as a people because you see we no longer act as a people the polarization displayed here is not much different than what you will find in he middle east i am not at all happy with the war and i have told my congressman i for instance don’t think wars should be conducted to liberate anouther culture especialy if we don’t understand that culture i think wars should be a last resort and if war becomes inevidable then it should be devestating to the enemy i also think that the congress must declare war before this should happen . so you see i am not a bush butt kisser however i am not going to call the president names i’m not going to hope for something terrible to happen to him that would make me look like an idiot and minimize my position and like him or not i am an american and he’s the president i was born here i grew up here i went to school where they tought the children to think not like the middel east schools where the children are tought to hate . so who are you people whats your problem with the war all i have heard is that you don’t like bush ,you dont like the war have you contacted youre representitve i have or do you just shoot you’re mouthes off trying to sound so intellectual .
there is something wrong with us i honestly dont think most of realy care that much about it and i know most of you are not acting like a single people like americans and that is even more disturbing more damaging than anything the bush administration can do you know a house devided
yes something is very wrong here and it is us.

  279. Gary says:

China is Americas objective. Not Iran.

Iran is nothing but a stepping stone.

As I’ve been following the news on certain issues lately, i’m surprised none of you have seen a picture forming.

The US wants to place anti missile defences in UK and other parts of Europe, some are interestingly close to Russian borders.

    I wonder why?

Iraq seems to be nothing more than a base of operations. First, go in take control of the region. You’ve then got yourself an unlimited supply to fuel any war machine.

Build your bases and defenses, hence a war that seems to be going on and on… Makes me wonder who the Americans are actually fighting over there… I suspect they’re fighting each other.

Let your allies pull out.. UK planning on withdrawing a large amount of it’s troops, even though they’ll be sending prince williams troop in…
Wonder if he’ll cop a packet too..just like his mother did.

So… once you’ve got everybodys attention, you then start getting everyone angry at you yourself and I until fever pitch reaches its maximum volume, and when the timings right you move onto your next objective, Iran, which will make China come into the fight.

Which, funnily enough, is what you wanted in the first place.
So everyone will rally to the cry of their allies, China will be helped by Russia and north Korea, America by UK and… well who knows..

It all stinks.. I’ve had enough. if i’m ever president or prime minister or whatever, i’ll make damned sure that war can never break out again.
    I’ll ban it ..full stop.
