“It would be like saying that after Adolf Hitler was overthrown, we needed to change then, the resolution that allowed the United States to do that, so that we could deal with creating a stable environment in Europe after he was overthrown.” Keith Olbermann has promised a special comment tonight on Rice’s statement.
UPDATE: Watch Olbermann’s special comment:
Olbermann is about to slap condi over this BS
February 26th, 2007 at 8:29 pmDead Eyes Rice: “…It would be like saying that after Adolf Hitler was overthrown, we needed to change then, the resolution that allowed the United States to do that, so that we could deal with creating a stable environment in Europe after he was overthrown.”
What!? That paragraph is incomprehensible.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:30 pmDoes that comment even make sense? I can’t figure out what the hell she was trying to say. Much like our trolls. Maybe it is a special code language.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:32 pm#2 Zooey
All the time Condi has been spending with Bush must be causing his incomprehensibility to rub off on her. Then again, I cannot comprehend why she or anyone else would be supporting this clusterfreak of an administration.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:35 pmSpudge,
Thank goodness it’s not just me. I must have read that paragraph 10 times, trying to make sense of it.
It would be really cool if TP had the video of Keith’s special comment.
**Hint! Hint!**
February 26th, 2007 at 8:36 pmWhat!? That paragraph is incomprehensible.
Comment by Zooey — February 26, 2007 @ 8:30 pm
The important thing is that she managed to get Adolf Hitler’s name in there somehow.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:36 pmMan, I can’t wait for the day they are all put to a wall.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:37 pmHeh, no one in this administration should even be bringing up Herr Hitler in any conversation … will just focus speculation and criticism on their quasi-fascist ideology and policy.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:40 pmIt appears that by denying her sexual preferences dr. stinkeye has also begun to sell crazy.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:40 pmCan someone please translate Rice’s comment into English?
She’s been hanging waay out too much with George Bush….
February 26th, 2007 at 8:42 pmThat comment is so inane, so bizarre, so irrelevant, and so stupid, that I have now concluded that Rice is ripe for a mental institution.
I gave her a lot of rope. Admittedly, I became very worried about her sanity when she made comments about the “birth pangs of the Middle East”, especially since it followed other comments about “mushroom clouds from Iraq”…
The woman is insane. So are Cheney, the Bush boy, and the Neo-Cons. These people need to be locked up in a facility for the criminally insane, never to be let out again.
La Rice is definitely i sane.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:47 pmCondom-LESSER Rice, YOU are part of the Bushland Uber Allies PROBLEM–YOU are a Nazi in the worse-than-Hitler Bushland Uber Allies and their Fourth Reich–so unless YOU are prepared to DEPOSE YOURSELF and CHIMPya, Torticola Cheney, Miss Piggy Rove, Alberto VO5 Gonzales and the REST of Bushland Uber Allies, DON’ OPEN YA FOUL YAP-TRAP, BITCH! YOU ARE THE GODDAMN NAZI ALONG WITH Bushland Uber Allies!!!!!
February 26th, 2007 at 8:47 pmDamn. Olbermann is taking her to town….

February 26th, 2007 at 8:49 pmOlbermann to rice: “are you smarter than a 5th grader?” Oh snap!
February 26th, 2007 at 8:51 pmTotal. Utter. Smack down.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:52 pmWow, Keith is a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad asssssss. Bravo once again sir for speaking the truth to drivel.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:52 pmI just love his smackdowns — they are right on target. She asked for it – and she got it. Her selective memory of history – ignoring the Marshall plan – she is indeed a grade school history class failure.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:53 pmHow did she get a degree in history?
Details, please — for those of us without TV.

February 26th, 2007 at 8:54 pmCheck later or tomorrow for the video of Olbermann and if you have dial up only, they usually run a text transcript.
I meant to say check with Crooks and Liars == sorry I neglected that fact.

February 26th, 2007 at 8:55 pmLMAO … does it get any more embarrassing? This skinny, gap-tooth, arrogant, manipulating, imbecile is our SoS?

neoconese, an obscure subset of language. Try reading again while whacking your head with a mallet.
Not really recommended, because by the time you understand it, permanent brain damage has occured from the mallet.
=D
February 26th, 2007 at 8:58 pmEr, Condi should tread lightly when comparing the US to Nazi Germany.. The more WWII analogies she makes, the closer she gets to admitting the parallels between Bush and Hitler. Hey, she brought it up. Her analogy doesn’t make sense in the way she phrased it. She has the roles all mixed up.
If the trolls don’t like it, they’d better get Condi to stop talking about it.
February 26th, 2007 at 8:59 pmKeith O., in his Special Comments tonight, has just handed our punked Sec of State her hat, with her brain in it, and a kick in the a$$ with a new pair of pumps. Jeez is Condomlooser Rice stupid or what?
February 26th, 2007 at 9:00 pmHow about Al Gore in 2008?! How about Keith Olbermann as the presidential press secretary?! One should think positively from time to time.
February 26th, 2007 at 9:03 pm#23 should’ve read:
“no good TREASONOUS Bushite sombiches”…
…it was worth repeating anyway…
FEELS GOOD
…calling them what they are…
February 26th, 2007 at 9:03 pmKeith O. was so on the mark tonight I’m going to stay up for the repeat at midnight. Condoleezza Rice is not only a joke but, more importantly, an embarrassment to our nation as a whole and to people that can read and assemble a statement using basic syntax within simple context.
February 26th, 2007 at 9:10 pmOkay…. maybe, just maybe we need to wait for Billo (O’Reilly) to review and interpret Ms. Rice’s comments for us. I mean after all, he seems to be the only person alive today who can comprehend what the current administration is talking about.
February 26th, 2007 at 9:12 pm#20 – Thanks, Marie!
Sounds like it was a good smack-down. Can’t wait to see it.
February 26th, 2007 at 9:12 pmYeah, Bill O’Reilly speaks neocon. It’s called republenglish. It’s a combination of gibberish, nonsense, some english and a lot of bullshit.

PEOPLE DIED BECAUSE OF HER STUPIDITY!!!! 9-11!!! SHE COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING!!! SHE HAS BLOOD ON HER HANDS!!!!!!
February 26th, 2007 at 9:28 pmrepublenglish, is there someplace that laypeople can learn it? It could be helpful to the general public because I’m sure that Billo and company heard something come out of Condi’s mouth that made perfect sense.
February 26th, 2007 at 9:32 pmHere is Keith’s Special Comment:
February 26th, 2007 at 9:33 pmhttp://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/02/26/special-comment-secretary-rice-get-your-facts-straight/
Crooks and Liars has the video tape of Olbermann’s Special Comment concerning Rice’s inane comment about Adolf Hitler.
February 26th, 2007 at 9:36 pmIt would be like saying that after George the chymp was overthrown, we needed to change then, the resolution that allowed the United States to do that, so that we could deal with creating a stable environment in Iraq and America after he was overthrown.â€
February 26th, 2007 at 9:43 pmI just saw Olbermann’s clip. It was….GREAT! I apologize if this has been said above, but there’s one thing he missed pointing out:
The implication here is that the 2002 resolution to use military force in Iraq was for the purpose of overthrowing Saddam Hussein. But if that’s the case, the purpose of the resolution was to commit an international war crime. It is against the U.N. Charter (and, so far, the United States is still a member of the U.N.) to start a war for the purpose of regime change. No exceptions.
Condi is getting dangerously close to admitting we went to war for the purpose of regime change. War Crimes charges have already been filed in Germany against Rumsfeld. It doesn’t take too much of a stretch to figure that there are some in Germany ready to file charges against other members of the Bush Administration as soon as they leave office.
February 26th, 2007 at 9:46 pmThanks Jenny G, I’ve got it downloading. The transcript is fantastic!
February 26th, 2007 at 9:48 pmHey, Zooey, ThinkProgress listened to you! They put the video of Olbermann up, just as you requested! Three cheers for TP, and for Olbermann!
February 26th, 2007 at 9:50 pm
I loved when KO pointed out that Congress did exactly that following Hitler’s defeat. It is called the Marshall Plan, name after the then Secretary of State. Rice must be upset that the current plan doesn’t carry her name. I don’t know how else to explain it.
February 26th, 2007 at 9:51 pm9-11 serves America as a constant reminder that after that event, the whole world was behind President Bush and America. Sadly, the neocons chose instead division and discord and we will pay for their misguided ideology and folly for generations.

February 26th, 2007 at 10:01 pmI guess TP didn’t want to post my comment to #34 Goff because it had a link to BushWatch. Sometimes I wonder about TP and it’s motives. No profanity and a link to a funny picture of Bush and some of his most infamous Bushisms. I wish someone at TP would explain.
February 26th, 2007 at 10:02 pmawesome – next up Laura Bush
February 26th, 2007 at 10:04 pmStand Keith, stand! That was rich. I downloaded and am emailing this video to every one I know, especially my Republikkklan friends (yes, I have them lol).
Clinton gets raked over the coals for getting a blow job in the Oral Office (hehe) and Bush becomes dictator of the U.S. and NO ONE DOES ANYTHING? WTF has to happen next??? Apparently Bush could declare a civil war in the U.S. and no one would be the wiser (yes, I’m exagerrating ol).
February 26th, 2007 at 10:05 pmYeah, I’m noticing a few of my comments are getting posted, or either they’re posted then removed. Nothing profane in them or offensive so I’m perplexed….
February 26th, 2007 at 10:10 pmWOW!! Another stellar beatdown handed out by Mr. Olbermann. Rice is an unqualified hack that should be attached to the Bush chaingang as the criminials are led from the white house.
February 26th, 2007 at 10:14 pmcorrection: should have read “are not getting posted”
February 26th, 2007 at 10:15 pmYeah, the Marshall plan….that’s the ticket.
You know the Hamilton-Kean comission plan….or the Rice plan.
There we go -> A stabilization plan that has it’s own justification and funding.
Who ever heard of such a crazy thing.
February 26th, 2007 at 10:22 pm“It would be like saying that after Adolf Hitler was overthrown, we needed to change then”
They were speaking of pulling out of Iraq and she expressed that “pulling out” “running” from Iraq after Saddam was dead would be the same if you imagined we were pulling out of Europe after Hitler died, suicide, assasinated instead of remaining.
“the resolution that allowed the United States to do that”
Here she is talking about the Marshall Plan that took many years and great resolve.
“so that we could deal with creating a stable environment in Europe after he was overthrown.â€
If we ran away Russia would have taken everything.
She was attempting to make an example of what the US did after WW2 to imply that stopping Bush now would be like not invading Europe. Not staying the course. We stayed the course in Europe so we should stay the course in IRAQ too.
That does not make her a candidate for the rubber room but it does mean thatshe is still pitching her Bosses SURGE idea. Long Live the SURGE.

but condi’s remarks remind me of something i heard
thom hartmann say the other day:
“see, that MARSHALL PLAN was just a coincidence”…
February 26th, 2007 at 10:43 pm…
Look, the bi-partisan comission and several hearings started to explore a plan for post war stabilization.
This approach was whole-sale ignored by the chimp and his evil master.
Instead they opt for a continued approach that neither has the numbers to control and squelch the violence, nor supports formation of relationships that would tend toward stability.
The continued approach is to target, in turn, Sunni and then Shia “insurgents”, undercut the current sham of a Govt., hype imagined stories about the fictional “Al Quaeda in Iraq”, and to undercut any probability of a stable economy or sustained, secure government.
Yes, it is well past time to discuss a post war Iraq stabilization (or at least post fall of any cohesive government).
The past election was the impetus for such a discussion, but not enough Senators were kicked the hell out to scare all the Emperor’s men. Still brazenly thumbing their noses, not only at Congress and the American People, but at the laws of Nature.
Well, Congress are wimps and the American people don’t have another chance to voice until 2008…..but Physics and human nature will bite back at the half-hearted current approach.
February 26th, 2007 at 10:47 pmUmm comparing post Hitler Germany, with post Saddam Iraq is asinine at best. Yeah the Soviets were present, yeah we had a 40 year face off with them, but it isn’t the same as having an active insurgency, with multiple domestic, and foreign fighters attacking just about anyone.

February 26th, 2007 at 11:31 pmCondi Rice was a Oil Cartel executive. She probably slept with the CEO of Chevron to get that oil tanker named after her. In retrospect she probably slept with her college professors to get good grades in history courses. She is actually a very dumb person.

Thank you Mr. Olbermann, thank you from the heart. That felt so, so good.
February 27th, 2007 at 2:44 amNot just craven, not just dumb, not just wrong… Sec. Rice is turning history on its head. Within two weeks of V-E day, Truman went to the Congress to get precisely what Rice is describing: an continuing authorization for War Powers in the changed circumstances. In it he says something that would never occur to this administration: “[I]t is imperative that these matters be dealt with continuously if the Government structure is to be reasonably wieldy and manageable, and be responsive to proper direction by the Congress and the President on behalf of the people of this country. The question is one that goes directly to the adequacy and effectiveness of our Government as an instrument of democracy.”

This administration is so f@#ing insane. They are just trying anything imaginable to keep the last wheel from falling off before they can attack Iran and thereby pave the way to further impose a militaristic, corporate authoritarian state. (Not to mention trashing every possible remaining bit of civil society in the process as well.) They don’t even pretend to make sense and most in the media and in politics refuse to put up any real resistance. Keith Olberman is a very welcome exception to the norm and I am very grateful for what he does.

Everything he said about WW2, the occupying force in Germany, the plan to help Europe recover. OK, your turn.
February 27th, 2007 at 11:01 amActually CUNTIE, it would be like revoking Adolph Hitler’s power once it was realized what a fucking disasterous barbarous murdering fuck he was.

February 27th, 2007 at 11:03 amOkay Olbermann knew we were in WWII, I will give him that. Rice is absolutely correct about the nature of the Saddam regime. Perhaps Olbermann would have liked her speech better if she had compared our troops to the Nazis like Dick Turbin did or Robert Byrd comparing the Republicans to the Nazis.
Olbermann is very good at displaying the lefts well known selective outrage. For example his giving a nazi salute at a meeting while wearing an O’Reilly mask, the guy is a clown, no wonder no one takes the old sportscaster seriously except for a few loons on here.
February 27th, 2007 at 11:05 amPatrick1 is in denial. He still hasn’t said that what Obermann said was COMPLETELY & HISTORICALLY FACTUAL, and that what Condi said was hogwash.
Dude, give it up. Go play at LGF or Townhall.com. They love your bullshit there. Here, we actually read newspapers, not just look at the pictures.
February 27th, 2007 at 11:32 amSaddam was isolated at the time Bush unilaterally decided to invade Iraq. Hitler, on the other hand, had troops fanning out across Europe, with a presence in Poland and Czech. The scenarios weren’t close. I know Republicans have trouble noticing nuance in anything other than their bank accounts but these are facts here.
February 27th, 2007 at 11:33 amWow!

February 27th, 2007 at 11:40 amWho cares what Keith Blobbermouth has to say. He has no education, experience, etc in foreign policy. Condolessa Rice has studied, taught, earned a PhD in this area. How does one give credibility to his knowledge base, its elementary compared to Ms Rice’s knowledge and experience.
Patti Eisenhut
February 27th, 2007 at 11:55 amLakewood, OH
Condi spent the rest of the night on the couch crying, eating ice cream, and watching Sleepless in Seattle (again)
Patti – What’s Condi doing with all her education and experience??? All I see her doing is embarrassing us all over the globe with a bunch of cheerleading (did she learn that from W?). Olberman seems to know a lot more about history than her or Bill O’Reilly (and yes, I DO have the education necessary to judge)
February 27th, 2007 at 12:11 pmWhen the message doesn’t fit your agenda, attack the messenger. Typical. You did not address that Rice’s comments were utterly nonsensical, let alone with no basis in historical fact. Just because someone has a piece of paper that says they’re a Ph.D. doesn’t mean they are infalible, intelligent, or that every word out of their mouth is accurate. She said something stupid. If she was really smart, she’d own up to it and regain some of the respect and credibility she used to have.
February 27th, 2007 at 12:16 pmOlbermann is one of my heros.
February 27th, 2007 at 12:42 pmWow, I knew that stuff, and I didn’t have a Ph.D, maybe I should have her job.
February 27th, 2007 at 12:48 pmPatrick1 –
1. That’s Dick Durbin
2. In paragraph 2, ‘left’s’ (the possive demands an apostrophe)
My vision of you is that what you write is the literary (and I use the term loosely) equivalent of spitting all over your audience as you spew your hatred.
February 27th, 2007 at 12:54 pm#102 Patti, Condoleech Rice will NEVER achieve any kind of peace between Israelis and Palestines, because she is so dumb and unexperienced, add to it she’s a bad person.
Send a pig instead of her to the bilateral talks, the pig (a new kind of mediator/negotiator) won’t spread more sectarian violence.Condoleech will, i assure you.
February 27th, 2007 at 1:01 pmI watched this last night. I couldn’t believe how severely Olbermann slammed Rice. I mean, WOW.
February 27th, 2007 at 1:11 pmOh man, I really loved this part:
Are you smarter than a 5th grader?
Burn!
February 27th, 2007 at 1:18 pmWell, suppose someone with a PhD in physics talked as if they didn’t know what caused Brownian motion, and some high school graduate mentions that interesting paper Einstein wrote on it (winning over even the diehard skeptics of the atomic theory in the process). Will you remain in ignorance as to the cause of the Brownian motion, or will you check the citation of the lowly high-school grad and learn something?
Your choice.
February 27th, 2007 at 1:21 pmWhen will Olberman bring Rice on his program to let her defend her words?
February 27th, 2007 at 1:32 pm112:
Rice can call a press conference and defend her words whenever she wants.
February 27th, 2007 at 1:39 pmOlbermann 4 Prez. Oh yeah and way to stay on the trolls guys. When faced with the truth every aspect of this administration fails. From the trolls to the prez they’re all a$$hats.
February 27th, 2007 at 2:20 pmwow, keith said it all. i would love to see rice or bush or cheney go onto keith’s program. he would mop them up. hell, he could have all three on at the same time and their brain power would be less than keiths.
February 27th, 2007 at 8:21 pmWhat elementary school did Condi attend? Anyone know more particulars about her academic record?
February 28th, 2007 at 1:26 amI checked on Condoleeza’s academic record through wiki and it appears that ignorance is not the issue here. She appears to have a great deal of experience with the subject she seems to be bungling at the moment. Looks like another mission on the way to accomplishment.
February 28th, 2007 at 1:47 amSo since Olberman is the one who went rant, why should Rice hold a press conference for him? I he had the balls he would invite her on his show.
