Oh, come on, as if the region is supposed to be stabilized overnight ... !
After the furor that was September 11, 2001, the entire country was bipartisan in its resolve for some sort of strong military response.
Well, here it is, folks. It's not for the squeamish.

Laura Bush is direct about it:

KING: So it’s going to be going on when you leave office.

BUSH: Probably. I mean, I have no idea and there’s no way I can predict. But I hope not. I hope that they can build their government and reconcile with each other and build a country. This is their opportunity to seize the moment, to build a really good and stable country.

The Iraqis didn't want Hussein in power and they're happier without him. This is indeed the Iraqis' opportunity to build a strong and stable nation in the Middle East maelstrom, an opportunity that the United States and its military helped to pave. Now the good people of Iraq need to exert their will.

Is there a middle ground for this war? When is there ever? Laura Bush says that too, "nobody is pro-war." But if there is a war to be fought, then this country, the United States, needs to be ready and stay ready.

I am seriously concerned for this woman!

She is completely out of her blooming mind, as she obviously doesn't understand that if true "one bombing a day" is much too much for a country that is supposedly stabilized. The more I hear her lately she sounds like an abused woman. She doesn't even refer to her husband as "my husband, the President." She just robotically repeats what the official line is. Plus her lacquered and frozen face, in additon to her lack of being in the public, is frightening to me. What is happening to her? At least at the beginning of the Bush reign, she had some personality, but it is all disappearing so fast. She seems to have the countenance of someone living in fear.

Small point you may have missed, dear:

One bombing a day doesn't just discourage people...

it KILLS THEM.

Is that what you told Rush Limbaugh for his attacks on First Lady Hillary Clinton, President and ex-President Bill Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton for the past fifteen years solid? Did you tell him that you'd buy him a one-way ticket to China for being so unpatriotic?

I also remember the years First Lady Roslyn Carter, President and ex-President Carter, little Amy, Mother Lillian, and brother Billy were attacked constantly by conservatives. Did you tell them to get out of the country or are you just an enormous hypocrite?

Noone on this site says the US should be more like China. It's all in your mind. It is not happening in the real world.

A study did say that the USA was #1 in the world in standard of living at the end of Carter, but had fallen to #16 after twelve years of Reagan and GHW Bush. The 15 nations that passed the USA were all obviously to the left of the USA: (I forget the correct order) Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, Taiwan, Austria, etc. The study considered not just income, but also availability of healthcare and education, public education, retirement pension, etc.

The ones opposing the Vietnam War were the true patriots because the war was harmful to the US and the Vietnamese had no intention of harming the US. The ones opposing Operation Iraqi Liberation are the true patriots because the war is harmful to US security and Iraq was no threat to the US before (it may be now, thanks to you war mongers).
