Fox’s John Gibson Attacks The ‘Great Left-Wing Slime Machine Called ThinkProgress’»

Yesterday, ThinkProgress noted that Fox News host John Gibson had accused reporters of “news-guy snobbery” for covering the Iraq war instead of Anna Nicole Smith. Mocking CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Gibson said, “Oh, ‘There’s a war on! There’s a war on!’ Maybe, just maybe, people are a little weary, Mr. Cooper, of your war coverage, and they’d like a little something else.”

Today, Gibson responded, claiming he had been the victim of a “purposeful and malicious misinterpretation” by the “great left-wing slime machine called ThinkProgress.org.” But Gibson’s monologue only confirmed what we had reported. He repeated again today that reporters who downplay Anna Nicole coverage in favor of Iraq have a “snobby attitude.”

Watch it:

Gibson said today, “People might want a break from the war, to watch the drama in a story like Anna Nicole.”

We aren’t opposed to news anchors like Gibson dedicating some coverage to Anna Nicole Smith, but we do believe that referencing her 300 percent more than Iraq — as Fox News did — betrays your obligation to present balanced coverage on the important matters of the day. For his part, Gibson has featured stories on Anna Nicole Smith every single day since her death on Feb. 8 — that’s 19 days straight, a humiliating feat.

If you want to respond to Gibson, write him at myword@foxnews.com.

Transcript:

GIBSON: My Word starts with your word and an e-mail by Bill Sartori in Windsor Locks, CT. “So, anyone who wants to cover the Iraq war instead of Anna Nicole Bimbo 24/7 is a ’snob.’ How incredibly ignorant of you Gibson.”

This is an example of the purposeful and malicious misinterpretation department at the great left-wing slime machine called ThinkProgress.org. What they do is take something I have said and make it into something they want me to say, for the purpose of sliming me. I’m not whining just for myself. They do it to anyone who isn’t a card-carrying member of the far left, the out-where-the-buses-don’t-run left of the Democratic party.

I was criticizing an anchor on another network for his snobby attitude toward anyone. Anyone out there in the audience watching tv who wanted to see Anna Nicole coverage. He said, “I just wanted to scream at them, ‘There’s a war on, there’s a war on, there’s a war on.’”

Well, first, we know there’s a war on. I’ve personally spent hundreds of hours of tv and radio discussing the war.

Secondly, we know the mainstream media represented by this particular anchor guy would like to do whatever they can to make sure the war isn’t successful, that it is always viewed as a failure.

My point was something else. That in my many years of doing the news on tv and radio, I’ve often found myself saying, “Oh, I don’t want to do this story,” because I’ve thought there’s something more important that day, like the anchor guy I was criticizing, and I have found that was always a mistake.

It is news snobbism, by definition. The war is a fine thing to cover. Not my intention to say it’s not. The point I was making is that sometimes, people might want a break from the war, to watch the drama in a story like Anna Nicole, and who am I, or who is news person, to say, “No. I don’t want to do it because it’s beneath me.”

But this isn’t the first time I’ve been maliciously misinterpreted by the lefties, like ThinkProgress, and I suppose it won’t be the last time. That is my word. Write to me at myword@foxnews.com.

Does anyone really care what John Gibson has to say?
That’s why he’s striking out at an Internet website.

  5. Tuber Says:

    Anna Nicole died?!?

The fact that Anna’s body hasn’t been buried for over three weeks now -makes me kinda horny.

At least he admits he is whining.

  8. Zooey Says:

Gibson said today, “People might want a break from the war, to watch the drama in a story like Anna Nicole.”

Yeah, we need a break from the war — to have a feeding frenzy over the death of this poor woman.

John Gibson, if you’re readings this: Go f*ck yourself.

She’s not buried yet!? Why not? No wonder Gibson is having wet dreams.

  10. Spudge_Boy Says:

By all means, let’s let John know what a sad sack of liquid crap he is.

Who the hell is john gibson.?….Not relative to my world or frame of referance…Oh fux’s new’s, i never watch those crazy basterd’s….Never mind….Blessings

  12. TerrytheTurtle Says:

TP is left wing? I thought it occupied the Clintonista ‘center’. American politics are so far right of the rest of world’s it’s hard to tell.

  13. And You Thought REAGAN Was Stupid. Says:

sometimes, people might want a break from the war” — Looks like Gibson doesn’t care about supporting our troops. The troops don’t get a break, but he can ogle Anna Nicole Smith for another night so HE can take a break from his difficult job of sitting on his a$$.

  14. Fools on the Hill Says:

What the latest news on Anna? 24/7 coverage on CNN, FOX, ET, MTV, TMC & MSNBC, daily local and national news updates and I still can’t keep up.

Can we get a temporary cease fire for the waring factions, so they can follow this historic event?

  15. unbelievable Says:

No she’s not buried yet, and probably looks like an old seal.

  16. JPark Says:

Heh, he called TP great. Maybe he is smarter than I thought.

  17. JPark Says:

#14 Eww, for some reason that made me think of Gibson’s sex life. I don’t appreciate that.

  18. Jimmy Says:

TerrytheTurtle, exactly; well said. Overall, I find thinkprogress.org to be much closer to what 30 years ago or so would have been the center of American debate. Now that the neocons have wrenched the narrative so far to the right (while having the gall to call themselves ‘balanced’) we who attempt to do any thinking independent of a political party are instantly branded: LEFTY!
Fux news (I like that, Sharon!) viewers, I observe, are much more monolithic in their opinions and conclusions than any other segment of the news-conscious public. Not only is that horribly ignorant, it’s dangerous to all of us. We cannot afford to allow so many of our countrymen to go on numbed into ignorance by the FuxNews-Neocon anesthetic buzz.
    Let your light shine, thinkprogress!

  19. TerrytheTurtle Says:

Jimmy I grew up outside the US where my politics were somewhat on the right of center - ‘Christian Democratic’ best identifies the kind of politics I associated with, the leftwing was occupied by assorted Greens, Communists and the main Social Democrats or Liberals…. in the US, I qualifiy as a raging Trot…. baffles me.

Thirty years ago, TP would have been run by New England Republicans (Joe Lieberman). Now it’s considered to be leftist? Just shows you how extremist, and rhetoric based Fox News and the extremely religiously zealous Right Wingnut party of American Terrorism has become. When there are thousands acts of terrorism against abortion clinics, gays, immigrants and minorities every, why shouldn’t we expect these right wingnut terrorists to try to mainstream themselves through a corporate structure.

How sad for our democracy, when these wingnuts think they’re anything but religious extremist nut whackers!

  21. don hammond Says:

    Mr. Gibson:

Your condescending dismissal of those who believe the Iraq war deserves more coverage than Anna Nicole Smith’s death as Foreign Affairs Quarterly-reading “snobs” is fake populism of a particularly juvenile sort. Your attitude is an insult to the brave men and women who are sacrificing their limbs and their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is a slap in the face to their families who are bearing the burden back here at home.

It is also an insult to yourself, and to your profession, that you have so miserably failed to live up to the standards set by Edward R. Murrow and Bob Woodruff. These men, although separated by a half century, both displayed a deep understanding of the seriousness of war, as well as an intuitive grasp of what combat means to the individual soldier.

You will not be able to hide your disgrace by attacking others such as Anderson Cooper and ThinkProgress, who understand that reporting news about a war our citizens are dying in is not an option, but a duty in a democracy. In history’s eyes, you will be regarded as a fraud.

  22. rachel rj kinnardi Says:

    Hey John Gibson?

If you are reading this I beg you to read this aloud.

    Fu*ck You John Gibson!

Anna Nicole Smith more important than an ILLEGAL takeover of another country?(Iraq)

More important than better than 1 million people? All killed? Gulf I and Gulf II = better than 1,000,000 dead.

How does a blonde headed bimbo like Anna Nicole rate BETTER coverage than this war?

What fu*cking planet are you from?

Oh and by the way, your comb-over looks really fu*cked too.

Don’t quit your dayjob John Gibson, I am certain you and the gang at FoxNews will ALL be looking for new jobs by February 2009.

I am sure there is probably a Denny’s restaurant near you.

    Give them a try.

  23. Your Conscience Says:

Congrats TP given the broken barometer of Faux News that is quite a compliment.

  24. genesic Says:

You know you’ve made it to the big time when you get smeared on Fox News.

  25. vwcat Says:

I read you guys everyday but, now that I know you are just a slime machine, I feel so upset. Not.
Way to go. Glad to know one of my favorite sites is a leftwing slime machine.

  26. leftcoast Says:

Many who blog to TP seem to forget the meaning of “Think (ing) Progress”. Progress arrives when opposing sides successfully reach out in an attempt to resolve those issues that most polarize our nation. Lately, I’ve seen less intellectual discussion and more vulgarity and inane chat and a whole lot of “me, me, me”. I know you are going to say I’m some sort of troll for not following the mantra. That’s fine. But, any of you have read my blogs will know that I am no troll.
We need to begin holding ourselves to a higher standard if we are to make a difference.

  30. MLDB Says:

Have you no shame, TP? Clearly only a left wing slime machine would stoop so low as to quote people in their proper context.

  31. pbg Says:

Yo! Think Progress dudes, where in the world did you get the idea that Fox News was obliged to present balanced coverage of important matters? They are obliged to obfuscate and misrepresent the momentary facts of things.

Sounds a whole lot like Joe Lieberman. I am sorry but bipartisanship and the brotherhood of man doesn’t work while you are being beaten over the head. If you want to work things out with the neocons, go for it. I have seen way too much Vaseline used on liberals to go quietly.

  35. eve Says:

So he’s upset because you reported what he said?

Oh, wait. I forgot. This is FOX we are talking about. Facts are not news just like war is not news.

  36. pgw Says:

I was not trying to be pompess as you seem to indicate. I merely believe there are times when I think we can do better.

  38. steve_e Says:

Uh, Gibson thinks mentioning Think Progress will help him? That just shows that TP got under his skin. Plus, any FNC viewer who wants to see what all the hubbub is about can come here and see that TP is simply documenting Gibson’s ridiculous statements.

  40. TerrytheTurtle Says:

    Comment by leftcoast — February 27, 2007 @ 8:35 pm

There are times we can do better, we don’t live in one of them.

We live in a time when New Age Religious Fascists roam the earth, invade countries, and destroy constitutional liberties. While you want ‘dialog’ with them, they only want to label you a ‘terrorist’ for wanting ‘dialog’.

So tell me leftcoast, how has reason worked for you in the last 6 years? Have you cracked open hosts of CONs and converted them to liberalism with your kind words?

Save your kind words for the therapy, after you’ve handed their hats to these *ssholes - ok, priss-sunshine?

  42. Clyde the Ripper Says:

    This is a copy of my E-mail. I don’t expect a response.

    Mr. Gibson,

I have great concern about this Country if people like you with access to the media have more concern about the death of one drug addict whore than you do about thousands of illegal deaths of honest US Military Citizens who gave their lives so you could spout your useless bullshit. I challenge you to respond in public and debate the issue in public as opposed to your usual “slink and slime” that you resort to.

    Put up or shut up!

Clyde The Ripper (I used my full name and address)

  43. Zooey Says:

TP’s new “fame” will mean more trolls — lower quality ones. :P

  44. Juan C Says:

    My opinion:

nothing can be called left in US…except from Howard Zinn and Chomsky…and thats even debatable. Like Terry accurately posted: US is completely in the right of the spectre.

Lieberman? Easy to invoke a name to justify an arguement. Appeasing the oposition is not what I was talking about.

  46. Anonymous By Choice Says:

Sick of seeing images of war?

I agree that there are people who are tired of looking at images of war. But they have Entertainment Tonight, Extra, E! News and others, to watch if they choose. They also have movies they can watch, sitcoms, listen to music, read a book, go outside! Support a troop personally!

The people who are sick of seeing the war have plenty of other options of things to do. The news channels jobs are to focus on the important stories, because you never know when someone is tuning in to learn about that.

  47. Anonymous By Choice Says:

ALSO… I think Gibson decided to name and show the website because his audience is a bunch of elderly people, or white trash who don’t have access to the internet. So he can lie about what they say in order to further SLIME the left.

  48. JPark Says:

#48 Then what do you propose? I know you are not a troll and have a good head on your shoulders from past posts. You know that if you give the current right wing an inch they will give you 10 inches back in a place you don’t want it. I don’t think negotiation or bipartisanship will work until we (the US) swings back to a center position instead of feeling Bush is center-right and Kerry is an extreme liberal.

  50. JPark Says:

#50 I don’t think so AbC. I think his audience are fire breathing, right wing tools. If you know about him you know he is an extremist that will say anything to fire up the right. It was an attack and we should be ready.

so.. what happens? they start saying “who you gonna believe? me or your lying eyes”
    squirm like bait, Gibson.
    squirm.

  52. leftcoast Says:

    #51-JPark,
Thanks for some understanding here. Truly. I was not trying to offer a solution like detente or anything like that. I don’t have an answer. My thought was to see if Think Progress could ratchet down the name calling and build more credibility. And I don’t mean get all polite and goodytwoshoes. I suppose I’m not suited for this site. I am a liberal Christian and believe strongly in the Constitution and the sepearation of church and state. I do not belive christianity can lead our country forward, but neither can we ignore religion. Read Barack Obama if you have a chance. Thanks for the listen.

  53. Willy Says:

The Fox Fluff News Channel. I believe they’ve found their calling. In the news business they’re very irrelevant. LOL

  54. Crazy Eddie Says:

“Oh, ‘There’s a war on! There’s a war on!’ Maybe, just maybe, people are a little weary, Mr. Cooper, of your war coverage, and they’d like a little something else.”

Gibson realizes that people are weary of the ‘war’ and thinks we need a healthy dose of glitzy tabloidal propaganda from inane self serving talking heads to forget about said war.

Anna Nicole was a human, and no human should have their name drug around by the media as a ploy.

I ask you Mr Gibson would Jesus approve of such misleading words and deeds, and when, BTW, are you gonna start writing for the National Enquirer?

AND Mr Gibson, if your a conservative media outlet, why would you put so much time and effort into someone who is known for nothing more than her body and looks? Isn’t that liberal territory? Yet ThinkProgress, what you call ‘Left’, is not concerned with Anna Nicoles demise.

Talk about Ironic Mr Gibson, you have become the ‘liberal’. =)

  55. rachel rj kinnardi Says:

I don’t think even President Kennedy’s funeral coverage went on as long as Anna Nicole Smith’s.

This really shows how far downhill this country’s morals and national interpretations have sunken.

I believe your right on here. I cannot count the times I’ve written my congresswoman and senator to begin impeachment of Bush and Cheney. The Dems need to get punching and hitting hard. The Democratic Party will once again snatch defeat from the hands of victory as we seem yet to stand very tall against this criminal administration.

  64. Stein Says:

Thanks for the invite, Gibson, we have written to you and will continue to do so to make the point: that your show is nothing more than low-brow, lightweight, whiny info-tainment fluff. And that the level of credibility and seriousness contained within your program is at its lowest when you’re creating straw men and refusing to take responsibility for your content.

As long as it takes. Over and over and over again.

    Indeed.

Mankind simply cannot, has not, ever, been able to remove hatred and self-gratification from his thoughts. He will destroy himself, and his country, time and time again for resources, ideology and empowerment.

Moral decay is like an abcessed tooth, it starts from within and has nothing really to do with what political or religious ideology one follows. It is inherent.

You know, when I think more about it my number was a tad preposterous. I and you caught me. I have a large extended family and friends via the family. Many were rightwing (church attending, and still are church attenders). I can’t claim that I changed their minds totally, but I did help to persuade them to not vote for candidate simply because of one or two positions like abortion and the war. It’s a slow process, and I enjoy it. But, mea culpa. I boasted wrongly.

  76. Fox is News??? Says:

The vulgarity doesn’t help though - if you want to be taken seriously

  79. Veritas Says:

Gibson’s abolutely accurate on one thing: We’re tired of the war - period! However, when one focuses on the life of a human train wreck called Anna Nicole Smith (tragic figure) ad nauseum rather than covering legitimate daily news which affect our troops fighting a mindless war, then I call the diversionary tactics which Gibson et al on Faux Network participate in pure and unadulterated chicanery! They’re not called “Faux News” for nothing! All frauds and they’ve become totally irrelevant in terms of americans obtaining timely, important news. Who wants their news 24 hours later?? And, in Fox’s case, most critical news is never addressed.

Thank you, Mr. Gibson, for bringing more attention to Think Progress! Thank you for highlighting this blog so more people may express their legitimate opinions and obtain some legitimate, factual information here! Just like the Republican jeer & smear campaign….any attention is desirable…even the seemingly negative type…hahaha! You’ve just recruited a gazillion more viewers to join the ranks of TP posters! As the Bushevites say: “Bring ‘em in! (on).

  80. leftcoast Says:

    77. You’re right, Terry. There is no question that there should be plenty of anger. God knows I get angry and fearful for the direction we’ve been taken by this administration and repubs.

  81. don hammond Says:

    Leftcoast:

In principle, I agree with you that “Progress arrives when opposing sides successfully reach out in an attempt to resolve those issues that most polarize our nation.” This characterized the working relationship between the Republicans and the Democrats in the political climate that I grew up in during the 50s and yes, even the 60s, believe it or not.

This was possible because once upon a time, being a “conservative” didn’t automatically mean you were a nut who denies the earth revolves around the sun and that our Consititution should be shoved aside in favor of an extreme brand of Christian theology. Sadly, contemporary “conservatism” has been largely been captured by fringe lunatics who don’t have the slightest interest in dialogue or compromise, or reality, for that matter. And they really don’t like democracy, either.

The entire history of the Tom DeLay-led GOP congress was marked by a complete and thoroughgoing hostility to any kind of working relationship with even mainstream Democrats or the few lonely moderates in the GOP, as well as with mention genuine liberals or progressives. Bill after bill after bill was rammed through in the dead of night, with no Democratic input permitted, containing provisions specifically designed to extract money from all of us and transfer it to the ultra-rich GOP donors that DeLay and Jack Abramoff cavorted with. There was absolutely no meaningful internal dissent within the GOP about these tactics.

Having a true dialogue with these people is like trying to converse with a crazy and slightly scary uncle: an exercise in futility that can only put you in danger if you hang around him too long. The only thing we can do is to work tirelessly to reduce their political power and find the appropriate rock to shove them under. It will take time, but it’s worth the fight. Now this is what I’ve been looking for. Great post. I’m buried knee deep in paperwork preparing my aging mom to move in with us and would like to save your post and talk more later. Thanks for a the post again.
See ya Terry and JPark. Oh and you too, Valiant, you’re something, but I enjoyed it.

  84. Cory Says:

When the right are losing control and have nothing important to say, they turn to 24/7 coverage of pop culture. Maybe Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch insisted on Anna Nicole coverage, after all, she does like rich, white old men.

This is just a continuation of the fox news obsession with large tracts of land.

Thank you SO much for that, honestly. It is so refreshing to read something intelligent without any personal attacks. I agree with everything you said. Current bipartisan politics is destroying the very fabric of the nation, disintegrating any chance for unity and progress. Republican used to stand for liberty, democracy, checks and balances, fiscal responsibility and a “think before action” philosophy. The irony is that those principles seem to be antithetical to the current extreme conservatism that have swept over the GOP, resulting in a President who is dictating rather than working with the rest of the government. I do not understand extremism, from the left or right. There are certain things about the Democratic Party I agree with and certain aspects of the Republican Party I agree with, but I do not agree with battling over issues instead of coming together on resolution. More over, when did Republican become synonymous with hate and intolerance, and when did Republican become socially conservative? Republican used to represent fiscal conservatism, not social, and did not typically get caught up in social policy such as homosexual civil rights and abortion. The founders of this country fled religious persecution and tyranny, and established a separation between church and state. Why the Republican Party feels it necessary in affiliating with radical religious groups is baffling. It only feeds the opposition to its current extremism, and creates a division within this nation. It has been a very sad beginning to what should have been a promising and amazing new Millennium.

  88. AshenShard Says:

    #90 Cory

I think the reason the republican party has changed is because they decided to throw out all their principles and replace it with only one: win at any cost.

You must have got under his skin. Of all the really stupid ones over at the Faux News slime machine, Gibson takes the cake as the dumbest of the really dumb. Thanks for letting us see his latest embarrassing tirade. What a doof!

Don’t you worry…..you’re PERFECTLY suited for this site.

  92. Bluestocking Says:

Today, Gibson responded, claiming he had been the victim of a “purposeful and malicious misinterpretation” by the “great left-wing slime machine called ThinkProgress.org.”

    ********************************

Ooooh, did we get under poor li’l Johnny’s skin? Should we give him some cheese to go with his whine? I got some news for ya, Johnny…the truth hardly qualifies as a “purposeful and malicious misinterpretation”.

Good grief…what a crybaby! If you can’t stand the heat, stay outta the kitchen — someone who can’t take a little criticism now and again (virtually inevitable when one is a public figure) only ends up proving that his ego is as fragile as your average soap bubble.

  96. John Farwell Says:

    ok, i wrote him…

    Dear Mr. Gibson,

Obviously, Iraq news matters keenly, particularly when coverage of it is controlled and suppressed, which takes us away from the transparency our government should be operating in. Please do not contribute further.

Regarding Anna Nicole Smith; if you must ignore Iraq coverage, and I suppose you must if such is your job, then please cover new news at all. There is much more at your disposal than grade D level celebrity news..

How about Iran? I would love to hear more news about it. I get the Iranian news side but there is really precious little else, say from here; Amy Goodman can do only so much.

  97. Juan C Says:

I think #27 leftcoast just throw a great discussing topic:

Should we, progressives (whatever that means), lower our assumed standards of civility and engage directly those 30% in their own ground or should we stay in the ivory tower, like the intellectual passive community of every country?

I agree at some extent with Valiant. The amount and the level of unjustice, bloodspill, lies and crimes that we are witnessing cant be just left to a civil debate. It has to be condemned forcefully and non-stopping. Vulgarity is the least we have to worry about when thousands of people have died for the most henious reason: profit. There are people who wont engage trolls for very good reasons, personally I have no interest debating MA (Valiant Venus), Roger Roger, michael, Vince P or Patrick1. I guess it is obvious when someone purposefully tries to disrupt discussion. Then we have our misled, fearing trolls who can be engaged in some civil terms like Paul, Dale and Exley. Like Terry said, there are people who like to thrash them and other who just will point their stupid remarks.

Personally I like balance. It is really funny to read some “vulgar” posts against trolls, and, at the same time, it is really stimulating reading other more civil posts. However, I get tired of trying to explain some different POV to people who wont exercise their self-criticizing ability. I dont have time for that kind of people, therefore, after some lines I stop. Some people go on and on against them…well, I just scroll down faster.

Now, from a general perspective, I think that intellectual community should get more and more involved in what happens in this world. Not just them but physicists, artists, engineers, lawyers, gardeners…everybody live somewhere in this planet, we should CARE, we should MOVE, we should DECIDE, we should FIGHT. I think this is a time for Bakunin rather than Marx.

  98. Xenon Says:

    Gibson is still alive?!?

  99. JPark Says:

@100 Juan, that was truly inspired. I enjoy slamming trolls with stupid, vulgar posts because that is all they deserve. The thoughtful ones, however (as rare as they are) deserve a thoughtful response. I just like giving people what they deserve.

  101. Jay Randal Says:

BRAVO to TP for getting mentioned. Means the GOPers are reading the threads perhaps.

  102. More Cow Bell Says:

So they’re getting tired of talking about the Iraq war???

Is it because they don’t support our troops??

Or is it because they think its time to send to bring them home??

Of course he had to mention thinkprogress. His coverage is a mock and a contradiction of everything Gibson and his network claim to stand for.

They “support our troops” and blame other networks for showing the war in a negative light…but they can’t even bring themselves to cover it? and instead go 24/7 over the death of a former stripper?? huh??? And their justification for doing so is a blatant contradiction of their instance on keeping the troops in Iraq. If people are so tired and uninterested in the war that they would rather hear about a dead former-stripper than the life-and-death battle of solders in a heated war….then maybe we should bring them home.

People are tired…according to Fox and Gibson…too tired to even watch it in the news anymore. If thats not a clear sign and endorsement for withdrawal from Iraq, then I don’t know what is.

Bill Maher: George of the Bungle

    http://politicalhumor.about.com/ od/ bushvideos/ v/ maherbushbungle.htm

Mocking President Bush for general ineptitude, comedian Bill Maher delivered a funny rant as part of his “New Rules” segment on HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher”:

“Seriously, Mr. President, this job can’t be fun for you anymore. There’s no more money to spend; you used up all of that. You can’t start another war because you also used up the army. And now, darn the luck, the rest of your term has become the Bush family nightmare: helping poor people.”

“New rule: American must recall the president. That’s what this country needs – a good old-fashioned, California-style recall election, complete with Gary Coleman, porno actresses, and action film stars. And just like Schwarzenegger’s predecessor here in California, George Bush is now so unpopular, he must now defend his job against…Russell Crowe, because at this point I want a leader who will throw a phone at somebody. In fact, let’s have only phone throwers. Naomi Campbell can be the vice president.

“Now I kid, but seriously, Mr. President, this job can’t be fun for you anymore. There’s no more money to spend; you used up all of that. You can’t start another war because you also used up the army. And now, darn the luck, the rest of your term has become the Bush family nightmare: helping poor people. Yeah, listen to your mom, the cupboard’s bare, the credit card’s maxed out, and no one’s speaking to you. Mission accomplished.

“Now it’s time to do what you’ve always done best: lose interest and walk away. Like you did with your military service. And the oil company. And the baseball team. It’s time to move on and try the next fantasy job. How about cowboy or spaceman? Now, I know what you’re saying, you’re saying that there are so many other things that you as president could involve yourself in. Please don’t. I know, there a lot left to do. There’s a war with Venezuela, and eliminating the sales tax of yachts, turning the space program over to the church and Social Security to Fannie Mae, giving embryos the vote.

“But sir, none of that is going to happen now. Why? Because you govern like Billy Joel drives. You’ve performed so poor, I’m surprised you haven’t given yourself a medal. You’re a catastrophe that walks like a man. Herbert Hoover was a shitty president, but even he never conceded an entire metropolis to rising water and snakes. On your watch, we’ve lost almost all of our allies, the surplus, four airliners, two trade centers, a piece of the Pentagon, and the city of New Orleans. Maybe you’re just not lucky. I’m not saying you don’t love this country, I’m just wondering how much worse it could be if you were on the other side. So yes, God does speak to you, and what he’s saying is, ‘Take a hint.’”

    #100 Juan C,
    Thanks for the great post!
I was just reviewing a reply from Congresswoman Davis,-D to my call for impeachment.
“…We must reach out to our colleagues across the aisle and foster a new era of bipartisan political movement. Because of this belief, I worry about the far-reaching implications of the impeachment process. Tearing the country further apart could potentially overshadow the new House leadership’s focus on moving forward.”

My response back to her: I truly understand the implications of the impeachment process, but do we ignore what may very well be the most egregious crimes a sitting president and vice-president have ever committed (do we need a blue dress) just because we do not wish to “overshadow” moving forward? What is moving forward? Moving forward includes telling the rest of the world (who were stunned Bush was re-elected), that the American people are speaking loud and clear that we are a nation of laws. It is the Constitutional duty of Congress to shed more light on the acts of Bush-Cheney. If we are to simply ignore these disgraceful and criminal actions for political expediency there can be no moving forward.
Tearing apart the country? Jesus, God the president has torn apart the entire world via deceit, fraudulent twisted tales of intelligence and unbridled fear mongering.
If our Dem leaders don’t wish to show some backbone and do what most of the country desires be done then they don’t belong in Wash.
We can’t move forward in darkness.

I had to break out in a laugh when I read the banner at the bottom, citing “malicious misinterpretation”. If ever there was one tactic that Fox Noise Channel employs, it is “malicious misinterpretation”.

As for Gibson, he could have been investigating the Walter Reed Army hospital negligence of our wounded veterans instead of drooling over Anna Nicole. If she didn’t have huge implants, would Gibson even care her?

No, the dirty little secret at Fox is that if you want to see scantily clad girls, Playboy playmates, Hooters gilrs, and girls in bikinis, then stay tuned to Fox News. It will be on shortly. It’s amazing that a purported News channel would try to boost it’s ratings selling tabloid sex.

  120. whack Says:

  121. Bryan Says:

Did any of you actually go investigate what Gibson actually said? Or did you just believe what this website says? He was criticizing an anchor from another network for his snobby attitude towards people who would rather watch the Smith coverage over the war in Iraq. We have the ability (and in my opinion the responsibility) in this country to investigate the things media tells us. Ask yourself, what reason would this website have for distorting what someone says? Could it be that they want to make you feel a certain way about things, or change your opinion to match theirs?
