Anyway, no, I do not expect that they will be home before it is 125 degrees in the desert. We have a Prez that does not want that and a Congress that will not get the balls to do it. But the re is something called “Being acclimated”. You develop a certain amount of tolerance to the heat if you are there. Your body learns to tolerate it better if you have a chance to be there while the temps are climbing, and not thrust into it after it is 125.

Trust me, I know that it will be getting hotter than hell very soon over there. But I also understand the training cycle a little bit too.

Instead of going to the National Training Center first, it imported personnel and equipment – even Toyota pickups like those used by Iraqi insurgents – from the training center at Fort Irwin for two weeks of final rehearsals that begin Wednesday.

OK, they are getting the SAME training in a different environment. Instead of going to Ft. Irwin, they are doing it at Ft. Lewis.

IN the USMC we do something called CAX Mojavi Viper. It used to be called (Combined Arms Excercise) nad takes place at 29 Palms. The focus in on desert warfare. No secret, we have been doing it for years.

Of the 30 day evolution, at least 2 weeks are spent drawing gear and turning in gear. A week before, and a week after. By doing the training at Lewis vice Irwin, they save that 2 weeks. They use their own equipment and supplies. That is all. It may not be a desert environment, but the TACTICS can be practiced just the same.

I never thought the war was right, but not forcing those that are about to go to Iraq to spend an extra month away from their families for useless training is a good thing, not a bad thing, I applaud the people that made the decision not to waste time and money in California.

But the obscene approach this President has taken with cutting military medical services, lying to the American public, kowtowing to corporate interests and pissing off the entire planet has been obvious for 6 years.
