The Denver Post reports, “A former White House official who ordered three activists expelled from a 2005 Denver public forum with President Bush says it was White House policy to exclude potentially-disruptive guests from Bush’s appearances nationwide.” The White House had previously claimed that the individual who removed the Denver Three was a “volunteer,” not the result of White House policy.

One would be hard pressed to come up with anything this administration HASN’T lied about.

Chicago Tribune
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:12 pmMarch 2, 2007
Obama calls Iran threat to U.S., Israel
Guess what?
One of the accused, Steve Atkiss, is the Chief of Staff at the US Customs and Border Commission division of DHS.
Remember Brownie’s deputy, Chief of Staff Patrick Rhode?
He too got his start in the advance office.
And according to Dan Froomkin’s column, in 2005, when he allegedly threw out the Denver Three, Atkiss was making $91,200.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:14 pmIt’s beginning to all come clear itsn’t it.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:14 pmSpudge, Obama is more conservative than people think. I don’t see him as more liberal than Hillary Clinton. I see them both as centrists.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:16 pmFaiz,
Can you guys supply a legal analysis of this situation? Isn’t it against federal law to restrict the attendees of taxpayer funded events based on their political opinions?
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:18 pm# 6 Bluedog49……ridiculous post. Is this your attempt at confuse and divert? You failed. Absolutely idiotic
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:19 pmIt will be fun in the far future when we all find out that a lot of these sub standard trolls have been paid by the dark side in these dark days of lunacy. Lucky for us they ( people like bluedog49 are so inept.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:20 pmMe thinks its a tactic to stall anything long enough for it to become irrelavent. Amazing manipulators of reality. You would almost have to just call it evil, as there is no other way to explain.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:22 pmImagine if Bill Clinton was found to be funding the terrorists who, we are told, were responsible for knocking down the World Trade Centers and killing 3000 Americans? Can you possibly imagine the reaction, and justifiably so, from the corporate media. It would be 24/7 coverage with breaking news breaking into the breaking news. They’d be running pieces calling for his immediate impeachment and possibly stoning to death, and justifiably so.
The newspapers would have 5 inch headline stories calling Clinton the worst president and person in the history of the country, and justifiably so. There’d be entire pull-out sections in the newspaper and every column inch would contain explosive adjectives describing Clinton as despicable and villianous.
Every radio station in the country would interrupt programming and go CNN live. Maybe even the FM music stations.
Schools would be instructed to hold special classes so teachers would have time to hold discussions with students to talk about this very very dark day in history.
And all of it would be justified.
Amazingly, this did happen this week, but the President was George W. Bush, not Bill Clinton.
Sy Hersh provided a bombshell story, an 11 on a scale of 10.
In case you missed it…that Bush is “pumping money, a great deal of money, without congressional authority, without any congressional oversight†into “three Sunni jihadist groups… connected to al Qaeda,â€
REPEAT: BUSH IS FUNNELING MONEY TO AL-FRIGGIN QAEDA!
And the media is silent. Dead silent. Bought off, paid for, scared, corrupt media, SILENT MEDIA.
So terribly frighteningly eerily sad for you, me our country and our world.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:24 pmI encourage all of my republican friends to review what defines a democracy.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:24 pmHey s,
Sorry to break it to you, but Bluedog49 is not a troll. Would you liek to address my question in post 3?
Why is Obama barking up the damn Iran tree? Does he not realize that the neocons will now use his comments as proof that we need to attack Iran?
How many times have the REAL trolls here used quotes from democrats as proof that we needed to invade Iraq? Oh abo9ut one hundred million times.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:25 pmAnother guess what…
Mr. Atkiss, one of the accused, shared his office with Susan Ralston Rove’s/Abramoff’s/Reed’s personal secretary.
That is, when he wasn’t traveling and kicking people out of events.
I bet he overhead a lot of interesting stuff… That is, if he wasn’t “involved.”
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:26 pm# 6 Bluedog49……ridiculous post. Is this your attempt at confuse and divert? You failed. Absolutely idiotic
Comment by s
He was replying to Spudge’s post, Obama is playing the “Iran threat” card, to woo Jewish voters and contributions. Just like Hillary. And Obama is a centrist.
You failed to look at the facts
Now appoligize to Blue…….
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:27 pmHey Spudge, thanks for sticking up for me. I’m not even sure what your problem is, S. I’d vote for Obama with a smile on my face if he’s the Democratic nominee. I like the guy. He’s not my favorite in the current group, but he’s miles above anyone the repubs could imagine running. I’m just saying that he’s moderate. If you have evidence that I’m wrong about that, let’s have it. And, if you don’t have it, maybe you can think about apologizing for the idiot remark, a-hole.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:31 pmThanks, Wayne. You guys are great.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:32 pmThe key to this post is, I believe, that this event took place in a PUBLIC forum, which means that everyone, not simply Republicans, should be able to attend. The hope is that The Denver Three wil sue the government for a ton of money for what they had to needlessly go through at the hands of the Bush administration
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:32 pmIt’s the “potentially disruptive” that I love.
Americans no longer enjoy the presumption of innocence. The Kreskin-in-Chief can now divine that certain citizens are going to be “disruptive.”
Unless legislation that has incrementally destroyed our first amendment rights, like the Patriot Act, is scrapped, it won’t be long before we are “preemptively incarcerated.”
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:33 pmDid the chimp ( all apologies to apes ) have any “public” forums during the campaign season. Didn’t he only talk to Republicans? He was trying to be the Republican president not the American president.
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:49 pm2006 Congressional Vote Ratings
The latest National Journal vote ratings finds Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) the most liberal member of the Senate in 2006 and Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) the most conservative. In the House, Rep. Diane Watson (D-CA) was the most liberal and former Rep. Jim Ryun (R-KS) was the most conservative.
Of the four Democratic senators who are running for president, Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) had the most liberal score in 2006. He was followed by Sens. Christopher Dodd (D-CT), Joseph Biden (D-DE) and Hillary Clinton (D-NY).
Key takeaway: “Clinton was markedly more moderate in 2006 than Obama, who was the 10th-most-liberal senator overall.”
from political wire
March 2nd, 2007 at 7:59 pmHe was trying to be the Republican president not the American president.
Comment by skeptic — March 2, 2007 @ 7:49 pm
No, no, no. He was being the CORPORATE, FASCIST, SCREW REAL CONSERVATIVES, NEOCON PRESIDENT!!!
March 2nd, 2007 at 8:07 pmAt least the Bush henchmen didn’t put the three on a train to one of the secret concentration camps they are supposedly building somewhere out there in what used to be called “the land of the free”…or sent on vacation to a part of Cuban Cubans own but can’t set foot on.
March 2nd, 2007 at 8:31 pmIf such was White House policy, which was clearly partisan, when does the Bush/Cheney campaign and the Republican Party intend to reimburse the Federal government for all of the expenses associated with such campaign trips. They weren’t government trips. They were campaign stops. Let the Publicans have their fun, just so long as they pay for it. When does Congress demand the reimbursement?
March 2nd, 2007 at 8:46 pmYou nailed it, dixieblood!
March 2nd, 2007 at 8:55 pm:)
This brings back memories of how Cindy Sheehan was manhandled from the State of the Union Address in 2006 because of the tee-shirt she was wearing under her jacket.
What kind of Government stifles dissent?
BUSH: “If this were a dictatorship, it’d be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I’m the dictator.” December, 2000.
March 2nd, 2007 at 9:22 pmThey lie about everything, and their acolytes lap up the kool aid like thirsty dogs.
March 2nd, 2007 at 9:30 pmHow presidential is it for Bush to expel activists from his speaking engagements?
Not at all presidential and he is not at all presidential as well.
March 2nd, 2007 at 9:41 pmBush is the perfect little dictator. He does not want any dissenters on his speech tours. Therefore, the dissenters are being removed and charged with disturbing the peace. GWB thinks he is reigning over Russia. No one has disabused him yet. (He/ She might get shot. Dubbya is known to be quick with the trigger…).
March 2nd, 2007 at 10:14 pmWhite House policy has been to serially violate the Bill of Rights.
Not only has it ejected peaceful protesters - not violent ones, mind - because they were not fawning supporters of Dubya, it has routinely sent peaceful protesters to “Free Speech Zones” miles away from his “public” appearances and cameras. It did that for years, most frequently in the run up to the 2004 election.
Those who refused to go have been accused of crimes and jailed, for exercising their constitutionally protected rights, of course. The Justice Dept has fought these bogus criminal actions at the appellate as well as district court. They could not reasonably have expected to win. But they did succeed in needlessly intimidating peaceful citizens.
Let’s not forget the father that Cheney’s secret service arrested in front of his grade school son because he peacefully told Mr. Cheney, in a public park, that he disagreed with his views about the war. Local officials quickly threw out the charges, but only after Mr. Cheney left town.
March 2nd, 2007 at 10:23 pmUm… okay. I imagine that you would remain ignorant of this for more than a decade, either willingly or not, then when another president does the same thing, present this as something new.
In the 1980s there were Russians in Afghanistan. In 2007 there is now Iranians in Iraq. There were conflicts in between these two where jihadists were serving US interests and received support from the US for doing so.
In fact you would have to put a lot of effort into willfully ignoring this to claim suprise, given that the post-Afghanistan operations of jihadists have been well documented in the past decade.
The only difference is apparently that under Clinton, unlike under Bush, this support was intentional. Awesome. Bold that.
March 2nd, 2007 at 10:51 pmAh Yes, CHIMPya W. Bush–HIS LEFT HAND OF EVIL DOESN’T KNOW WHAT THE RIGHT HAND OF EVIL IS DOING–TYPICAL FOR A NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER-WRACKED PSYCHOPATHIC PARANOIAC SOCIOPATH!!!!! “Me? Fund Terrorists? You must mean John Fund, HE’S the ONE responsible! I see NOTHING! I know NOTHING! I have NO BRAINS! I have NO MOUTH and I MUST SCREAM(tm)!!!!!” So said CHIMPya!

To: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
cc: Chairs of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and House Committee on International Relations
We, the undersigned, vehemently oppose any U.S. military action against Iran. Such military action would inevitably kill large numbers of innocent people, foster even more hatred and international condemnation of the U.S., and dramatically increase the instability of the region. Our own intelligence agencies have concluded the Iraq war has worsened the terrorist threat, and a war against Iran would add immeasurably more fuel to the fire.
Even if Iran decided to build a nuclear weapon, experts agree that it would take several years. There is no crisis, and our government should not create one with inflammatory rhetoric or military threats. The U.S. has both the time and obligation to work with the international community to fashion a diplomatic resolution to the situation, and the current refusal of U.S. officials to talk directly with Iranian officials cannot possibly help resolve the nuclear standoff, nor contribute to peace in Iraq and the Middle East.
Therefore, we urge you to take all steps necessary to reach a peaceful resolution to the current situation, including direct negotiations without pre-conditions. This is the only way to prevent yet another war, one that would be a calamity of truly global proportions.

No War with Iran!
President Bush is now regularly accusing Iran of supporting attacks on U.S. troops, without any evidence, - remember the WMD’s in Iraq, anyone? - adding that “we will seek out and destroy” these networks. Bush has authorized U.S. forces to kill Iranian “operatives” in Iraq, and he is sending nuclear aircraft carriers and missile defense batteries to the Persian Gulf. The unthinkable - a wider war in the Middle East - is unfolding.
John D. Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va., chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said that any U.S. military move into Iran would be “catastrophically stupid” and “unleash a conflagration like we’ve never heard of before.” We could not possibly agree more.
Resistance to a Bush planned military strike on Iran is growing in Congress, but it needs your help! Sign the petition to Congress below - No War with Iran! House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said recently that she would introduce legislation to stop such a strike, so our demand is beginning to get through. But the pressure needs to be much, much stronger to stop a President who has apparently gone mad with war and his own power.
Please know that your email address is for internal purposes only; we will not send it to the petition recipients nor share it with any other organization for any purpose. Thanks also for forwarding this to your friends, colleagues and listserves. We need everyone who wants to bring peace to the Middle East and prevent a war with Iran to join the effort now!
