Plame film in the works.

By Nico Pitney on Mar 2nd, 2007 at 11:37 am

Plame film in the works.

“Warner Bros. is developing a feature on the lives of Valerie Plame and Ambassador Joseph Wilson, the married couple drawn into a D.C. firestorm. … WB has secured the life rights of Plame and Wilson. Studio also will use Plame’s memoir, ‘Fair Game,’ if the CIA permits her to publish it.” Co-producer Jerry Zucker: “The biggest element of the movie to us is the story of two people who spent their lives in service of their government, and were then betrayed by that government.”

UPDATE: Keith Olbermann set to interview Plame.

The title will be : Pure Vanity, the Story of Al Qaeda Operative Valarie Plame.

  2. old Red Neck says:

Why don’t y’all use the GOP to market the film, spread the word.

  3. WaltTheMan says:

How about “Treason at the Top: the Plame Affair”?

  4. R says:

Yeah… They’re gonna call it either, “Diary of a Mad American” or, “Going Down in Plames”. “F* You Dick Cheney in The Ass, With Your Own Dick” might work, as well.

  5. Patrick1 says:

The working title is: Iraq pursues nuclear weapons while Joe Wilson drinks tea.

  6. Fools on the Hill says:

    “Ain’t No Mushroom Cloud”

  7. Bluedahlia says:

Well since her career is in the toilet because of a traitorous administration and no one seems to care, I hope they make millions. Good for them. Whatever it is, there couldn’t be half as much misleading propaganda as “The Path to 9-11″ had.
Also, it is sure to get a lot of publicity from right wingers, that’s for sure!

  8. R says:

#5- Give it a rest, fascist clown wanna-be. You’re obviously a GOP (God-damned old prick) troll in search of your identity. Forget it; you have none worth exploring.

  9. proud Dem says:

Let’s see them try and blame Clinton for this one as well.

  10. Badmoodman says:

It’ll be titled, “It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.” Oh, wait….

  11. Democrat Soldier says:

    I think it’ll be titled:
The REAL terrorists are sitting in the White House!

    Or maybe:
Treason: How Pres. Bush and the GOP continue to betray America!

    How about:
Screwing American security and getting political revenge, care of Karl Rove.

  12. big papa says:

There will sure as heck be…

…a whole lot of sequels to that one…

…what with all of the career civil servants who’ve jumped ship…

…since the criminal Bushites occupied the government…

War Resisters — Support the Troops Who Refuse to Fight

The Army has re-filed charges against Lt. Ehren Watada, the first commissioned officer to refuse deployment to Iraq, following mistrial. Find out the latest developments in his case and how you can help.

It takes courage to say that you will not fight — especially if you are a soldier. As more members of the U.S. military step forward for peace, the peace movement must step forward to support them.

Large numbers are now refusing to serve: The Department of Defense estimates that there are about 8,000 AWOL service members. The GI Rights Hotline http://www.girights.objector.org/

(800-394-9544) is currently receiving about 3,000 calls a month.

Most importantly, a growing number of soldiers are speaking out, against the illegality and immorality of the Iraq war and the orders they are being told to carry out. These brave men and women are risking jail time and their futures to stand up against the war. Click here http://www.unitedforpeace.org/article.php?id=3456 to find out how you can support them.

I’m going to post this again until everyone gets it: it is a waste of time and energy to engage Patrick1. I demonstrated this the other day. He was whining and crying for a debate. I attempted to engage him with some facts to start things off. He ran back to his hole and didn’t show up for the rest of the day. Ignore him and maybe he’ll go somewhere else and annoy someone else.

  17. Zooey says:

Does EVERYTHING have to be a movie?

  18. Bluedog49 says:

Zooey, it’s way past time for the public to know exactly what Valerie Plame was doing for all those years. The political destruction of her program is a treasonous outrage and right-wing liars have been able to lie with impunity about her and her job in the corporate media. Not many people will read her book and find out. Many more would see a movie.

  19. Bluedog49 says:

The destruction of Valerie Plame’s covert operation to track illegal nuclear weapons is easily worthy of impeachment charges against both Cheney and Bush. Just add it to the already long list.

  20. Patrick1 says:

    The Spy Who Never Was?

  21. Terre says:

Shucks Zooey – What’s one more movie? We’re all living in a horror flick now, produced by the Bush administration, with the wealth and lives stolen from Americans.

  22. Bluedog49 says:

Larry Johnson, 25 year veteran of the CIA: “A few of my classmates, and Valerie was one of these, became a non-official cover officer.  That meant she agreed to operate overseas without the protection of a diplomatic passport.  If caught in that status she would have been executed.”

  23. D'Lo says:

How about “The Many Crimes of Dick Cheney–Part 47″?

I have to agree with Zooey, too. Not everything needs a movie.

  24. ForTruth says:

    Don’t let ABC show it.

  25. Bluedog49 says:

More from CIA agent Larry Johnson: “The lies by people like Victoria Toensing, Representative Peter King, and P. J. O’Rourke insist that Valerie was nothing, just a desk jockey.  Yet, until Robert Novak betrayed her she was still undercover and the company that was her front was still a secret to the world.  When Novak outed Valerie he also compromised her company and every individual overseas who had been in contact with that company and with her.”

It was also reported in the U.K. that on the day Novak published the name of her front company, Brewster-Jennings Consulting, a number of people around the world were rushing for airports to get out of the countries in which they were operating.

  26. Evil Spaniard says:

Too bad the title for the movie of the life of GW Bush is taken

    “Lost”

  27. R says:

#17- I’m sorry. I lost myself for a second. I’m all better, now. Whew!

  28. Bluedog49 says:

Zooey and D’lo, how would you suggest that the information about Plame’s career get to the people? Larry Johnson and a few other CIA agents have already defended her, but the mainstream media has been more interested in letting liars like Victoria Toensing spew their B.S. on television. Stories in the print media have been buried. Don’t you think the truth deserves a wider audience than what the mainstream media seems willing to give this story?

  29. TerrytheTurtle says:

Mainstream media bluedog? The deafening silence after Sy Hersh’s revelation that Chimpy and the Organ Grinder have been funding Sunni groups aligned with Al Qaeda without Congressional oversight tells me that the So-called-librul-media is obeying its paymasters….

  30. RUCerious says:

    IF the CIA permits?
Whoa, I just saw a giant sow gliding at about 1800 feet.
    Right.

  31. Dale says:

Why is it so difficult for everyone to realize that Richard Armitage was the one who outed Valerie Plame. This was admitted to in an interview of Armitage by Bob Woodward. I’ve included the link of the audio from CIA.

Woodward: Well it was Joe Wilson who was sent by the agency, isn’t it?
Armitage: His wife works for the agency.
Woodward: Why doesn’t that come out? Why does that have to be a big secret?
    Armitage: (over) Everybody knows it.
    Woodward: Everyone knows?
Armitage: Yeah. And they know ’cause Joe Wilson’s been calling everybody. He’s pissed off ’cause he was designated as a low level guy went out to look at it. So he’s all pissed off.
Woodward: But why would they send him?
Armitage: Because his wife’s an analyst at the agency.
    Woodward: It’s still weird.
Armitage: He — he’s perfect. She — she, this is what she does. She’s a WMD analyst out there.
    Woodward: Oh, she is.
    Armitage: (over) Yeah.
    Woodward: Oh, I see. I didn’t think…
Armitage: (over) “I know who’ll look at it.” Yeah, see?
Woodward: Oh. She’s the chief WMD…?
    Armitage: No. She’s not the…
Woodward: But high enough up that she could say, “oh, yeah, hubby will go.”
    Armitage: Yeah. She knows [garbled].
Woodward: Was she out there with him, when he was…?
Armitage: (over) No, not to my knowledge. I don’t know if she was out there. But his wife’s in the agency as a WMD analyst. How about that?.

Bob Woodward has stated that this took place nearly a month before Bob Novak wrote his column.

So before anybody else tries to obscure the issue, is there anyone here who STILL doesn’t believe that it was Richard Armitage who outed Valerie Plame?

  32. Dale says:

#32… oops, the link is from audio at CNN :-)

  33. Dale says:

And my link has been removed. Nice, TP, nice.

  34. Tracy says:

“The biggest element of the movie to us is the story of two people who spent their lives in service of their government, and were then betrayed by that government.”

That’s a joke! Wilson lied about who arranged to send him to Niger. I was his wife…at least that is what this Senate Intelligence reports said:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A39834-2004Jul9.html

  35. Democrat Soldier says:

The worst part of the whole affair is that Pres. HW Bush said that anyone who would voluntarily release the name of an undercover agent was guilty of treason.

Pres. Bush and VPres. Cheney are guilty of treason, but they’re members of the “we never take responsibility for our own actions” Republican party.

  36. Bluedog49 says:

Tracy, even if your cited WaPo article wasn’t filled with lies, and it was, it is besides the point. The point is that Valerie Plame’s career as an undercover operative was ruined by the Bush administration for political purposes. I’m not even sure why you conservatives keep bringing up this arcane detail of who sent Wilson where. He was, after all right. There were no nuclear programs operating in Iraq. They had no weapons of mass destruction. What in the hell is your point?

  37. Bluedog49 says:

Bush also said that if anybody in his administration were involved in this, they wouldn’t be part of the administration anymore. We now know that at least 10 members of his administration were involved. Tracy, did Bush lie to the American public????!!!!

  38. Democrat Soldier says:

#37 – “Bush also said that if anybody in his administration were involved in this, they wouldn’t be part of the administration anymore. ” Comment by Bluedog49 — March 2, 2007 @ 2:04 pm

Yet another lie by Pres. Bush.

Is anyone surprised that Pres. Bush told another lie?

    Anyone at all?

I guess when the cons are busy drinking the neo-con kool-aid they don’t have time to keep up with all the lies as the “trickle down”. ;-)

  39. Democrat Soldier says:

#34 – From the article that you reference: “(Joe Wilson) was specifically recommended for the mission by his wife,”

Does it matter who sent him on the mission? No, it doesn’t.

What matters about the mission? The RESULTS of that mission.

Pres. Bush LIED about the information. THE PRESIDENT LIED!

Why does everyone want to brush this fact under the rug faster than a GOP Republican trying to get an IM response from an underage page?!?

  40. AboveTheClouds says:

In the Plame movie, I would cast Pat Butram (Mr. Haney in Green Acres) as Dick Cheney, Junior Samples (Hee Haw) as Karl Rove, and The Guy who plays “County Agent Kimball” (also Green Acres) as Lewis Scooter Libby. Any other ideas? Maybe Ron Jeremy as UN Secretary Bolton and Treat Williams as Ari Fleischer. Who will play Russert?

  41. Sharon says:

I’M DONE WITH TP – THERE’s PLENTY OF ACTION AT KOS, Newshounds, and others – I got out of school along goddamned time ago, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to be CENSORED, or given detentions, by the operators of some goddamned website.

I’d attempted to point out to the least intelligent among us (Patrick and old redneck) that they ought to think a little harder before slinging their poop around like dittomonkeys, which they are.

Plame and Wilson were life-long Republicans, before the radicals took over.

WAY TO GO TP – pretty soon it’ll just be you and the TROLLS, and you can turn the site over to the administrators of Free Republic – How does it feel to be run out of business by IDIOTS??????????????

I agree, Bluedog, but I’d like to see the trials out of the way before the movies are made and the books written. I apologize, I didn’t make that clear.

  45. D'Lo says:

Ooo, I just heard Keith Olbermann is going to interview Valerie Plame on March 17. Radar magazine said it. What a scoop.

  46. D'Lo says:

Oh, and I guess my last post could have answered your question, bluedog. And again, I’m with Zooey. It would be nice to have some accountability before they start making movies.

  47. Bluedog49 says:

D’Lo, what on earth makes you think there is going to be any accountability? It doesn’t matter if Libby is convicted. He’ll be pardoned. Dick Cheney will be gone before the end of the year. He’ll leave either for “health reasons” or “to spend more time with his family.” I just want as many people as possible to know what happened.

  48. A passionate attachment says:

    Feb. 28, 2003 http://www.pbs.org/now/transcript/transcript_wilson.html

MOYERS: So this is not just about weapons of mass destruction.

WILSON: Oh, no, I think it’s far more about re-growing the political map of the Middle East.

    Joe Wilson – June 14, 2003

“The real agenda in all of this of course, was to redraw the political map of the Middle East. Now that is code, whether you like it or not, but it is code for putting into place the strategy memorandum that was done by Richard Perle and his study group in the mid-90’s which was called, “A Clean Break – A New Strategy for the Realm.” And what it is, cut to the quick, is if you take out some of these countries, some of these governments that are antagonistic to Israel then you provide the Israeli government with greater wherewithal to impose its terms and conditions upon the Palestinian people, whatever those terms and conditions might be. In other words, the road to peace in the Middle East goes through Baghdad and Damascus. Maybe Tehran. And maybe Cairo and maybe Tripoli if these guys actually have their way. Rather than going through Jerusalem.”

    19:46: http://next.epic-usa.org/epicdev2/_media/2003forumaudio/28-lecture-wilson-32.mp3

“On the other ones, the geopolitical situation, I think there are a number of issues at play; there’s a number of competing agendas. One is the remaking of the map of the Middle East for Israeli security, and my fear is that when it becomes increasingly apparent that this was all done to make Sharon’s life easier and that American soldiers are dying in order to enable Sharon to impose his terms upon the Palestinians that people will wonder why it is American boys and girls are dying for Israel and that will undercut a strategic relationship and a moral obligation that we’ve had towards Israel for 55 years. I think it’s a terribly flawed strategy.”

To: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
cc: Chairs of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and House Committee on International Relations

We, the undersigned, vehemently oppose any U.S. military action against Iran. Such military action would inevitably kill large numbers of innocent people, foster even more hatred and international condemnation of the U.S., and dramatically increase the instability of the region. Our own intelligence agencies have concluded the Iraq war has worsened the terrorist threat, and a war against Iran would add immeasurably more fuel to the fire.

Even if Iran decided to build a nuclear weapon, experts agree that it would take several years. There is no crisis, and our government should not create one with inflammatory rhetoric or military threats. The U.S. has both the time and obligation to work with the international community to fashion a diplomatic resolution to the situation, and the current refusal of U.S. officials to talk directly with Iranian officials cannot possibly help resolve the nuclear standoff, nor contribute to peace in Iraq and the Middle East.

Therefore, we urge you to take all steps necessary to reach a peaceful resolution to the current situation, including direct negotiations without pre-conditions. This is the only way to prevent yet another war, one that would be a calamity of truly global proportions.
    ———————————————————————–
    No War with Iran!
President Bush is now regularly accusing Iran of supporting attacks on U.S. troops, without any evidence, – remember the WMD’s in Iraq, anyone? – adding that “we will seek out and destroy” these networks. Bush has authorized U.S. forces to kill Iranian “operatives” in Iraq, and he is sending nuclear aircraft carriers and missile defense batteries to the Persian Gulf. The unthinkable – a wider war in the Middle East – is unfolding.

John D. Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va., chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said that any U.S. military move into Iran would be “catastrophically stupid” and “unleash a conflagration like we’ve never heard of before.” We could not possibly agree more.

Resistance to a Bush planned military strike on Iran is growing in Congress, but it needs your help! Sign the petition to Congress below – No War with Iran! House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said recently that she would introduce legislation to stop such a strike, so our demand is beginning to get through. But the pressure needs to be much, much stronger to stop a President who has apparently gone mad with war and his own power.

Please know that your email address is for internal purposes only; we will not send it to the petition recipients nor share it with any other organization for any purpose. Thanks also for forwarding this to your friends, colleagues and listserves. We need everyone who wants to bring peace to the Middle East and prevent a war with Iran to join the effort now!

Mr. Wilson is a liar. If he were to have been put under oath in the Libby trial he would need a pardon by Bush.
