“As support for the war fades,

demand for yellow ribbons has collapsed,” the Financial Times reports.”Magnet America, the largest manufacturer of the product, has seen sales fall from a peak of 1.2m in August 2004 to about 4,000 a month and now has an unsold stockpile of about 1m magnets.”

  1. Well then says:

They could donate them to the Army and they could put 1000’s of them on their humvee’s to replace the missing armor. Lord knows the military is spending too much on nukes, and star wars to fund these soldiers correctly.

  2. Chad says:

Come on, Magnet America had to have seen this coming.

  3. burro says:

If the yellow ribbon folks can just hang in there, maybe ShrubCo will come to the rescue. If American’s just understood the plight of the yellow ribbon industry as a struggling business that needs help to stay afloat, I’m sure the desire to invade Iraq would jump right up there.

Maybe there needs to be yellow ribbons for the yellow ribbon industry. They obviously need our support.

  4. AshenShard says:

c’mon 30%ers! do your patriotic duty and buy up these magnets for the sake of the troops and our economy! do you not support our troops?

  5. dlet says:

No worries for Magnet America. The war with Iran should move that surplus right out the door and onto the trunks of people that love to bomb….er…I mean….to spread freedom to other countries.

  6. katy says:

put the word “SAVE” in big letters to cover the word “support”,
then give them all away… take the deduction…
    EVERYbody will want one…

    SAVE THE TROOPS
    .

    Love the idea!

  8. kevon says:

sale’s will skyrocket when we bomb iran.

  9. angryvietnamvet says:

I suggest all those who persist on supporting the war and seeing our servicemen/women get killed and wounded should eat one a day with their breakfast to show their continued patriotism. (I do hove the magnets have sharp ends as they navigate down their digestive tract and out their BushChaney.) Let them share the pain of war.

  10. Marie says:

My now-faded bumper stickers says “If you voted for Bush, a yellow ribbon won’t make up for it”
Those made-in-China magnets were strictly a feel-good gimmick so people would not feel so guilty about not sacrificing anything for the war. It was a way to spend $3 of their tax refund.

  11. Erroll says:

The best ribbon is the one that says: “Support the troops- Bring them home now.

  12. Vance says:

Awwwww Magnet America is no longer profitting from the war huh? Maybe they could try selling “Bush is a failure” coloring books complete with a crimson crayon.

  13. Raymond Funamoto says:

CHIMPya and Torticola Cheney COULD ALWAYS TIE YELLOW RIBBONS AROUND THEIR LOATHESOME BUTTOCKS AND GO TO A COSTUME PARTY AS Oberon and Titania, The King and Queen of Fairyland–I’LL LET THE READERS DECIDE WHO IS WHAT!!!!!

  14. RUCerious says:

Whew, for a second there I thought they had a million unsold maggots.

  15. Steve-O says:

How will I support the troops without a magnet?

Honestly, being a vet I wanted to key every car that I see with them. How is putting a stupid magnet on a car supporting anything?

  16. james k. sayre says:

Magnets for Maggots? Americans are going loony-toony with this stupid war. Now the Bushies are considering replacing the present Iraqi “elected, democratic” leadership with some tougher bully-boys, sort of like, tah-dah… Saddam. So are we just about back where we started some years ago with the dictator Saddam put into power with the help of our lovely CIA… Of course, we are about $500,000,000,000.00 poorer (we coulddah all had health care, but nooo…), minus three thousand dead American soldiers, minus six-hundred thousand dead Iraqis, minus thousands of wounded and maimed Americans and Iraqis, with out national reputation in tatters, our Constitutional rights shredded, but hey, when we allow traitors to steal two national elections, commit high treason on nine-eleven and generally run amock for six years with the blessings of our vile corporate media, there is a small price to pay…

  17. Crazy Eddie says:

Must be all those harsh emails killing the yellow ribbon sales.

    \sarcasm on.

We, the undersigned, vehemently oppose any U.S. military action against Iran. Such military action would inevitably kill large numbers of innocent people, foster even more hatred and international condemnation of the U.S., and dramatically increase the instability of the region. Our own intelligence agencies have concluded the Iraq war has worsened the terrorist threat, and a war against Iran would add immeasurably more fuel to the fire.

Even if Iran decided to build a nuclear weapon, experts agree that it would take several years. There is no crisis, and our government should not create one with inflammatory rhetoric or military threats. The U.S. has both the time and obligation to work with the international community to fashion a diplomatic resolution to the situation, and the current refusal of U.S. officials to talk directly with Iranian officials cannot possibly help resolve the nuclear standoff, nor contribute to peace in Iraq and the Middle East.

Therefore, we urge you to take all steps necessary to reach a peaceful resolution to the current situation, including direct negotiations without pre-conditions. This is the only way to prevent yet another war, one that would be a calamity of truly global proportions.

    No War with Iran!
President Bush is now regularly accusing Iran of supporting attacks on U.S. troops, without any evidence, – remember the WMD’s in Iraq, anyone? – adding that “we will seek out and destroy” these networks. Bush has authorized U.S. forces to kill Iranian “operatives” in Iraq, and he is sending nuclear aircraft carriers and missile defense batteries to the Persian Gulf. The unthinkable – a wider war in the Middle East – is unfolding.

John D. Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va., chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said that any U.S. military move into Iran would be “catastrophically stupid” and “unleash a conflagration like we’ve never heard of before.” We could not possibly agree more.

Resistance to a Bush planned military strike on Iran is growing in Congress, but it needs your help! Sign the petition to Congress below – No War with Iran! House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said recently that she would introduce legislation to stop such a strike, so our demand is beginning to get through. But the pressure needs to be much, much stronger to stop a President who has apparently gone mad with war and his own power.

Please know that your email address is for internal purposes only; we will not send it to the petition recipients nor share it with any other organization for any purpose. Thanks also for forwarding this to your friends, colleagues and listserves. We need everyone who wants to bring peace to the Middle East and prevent a war with Iran to join the effort now!

    Rachel,

It is a tad bit tiresome to ALWAYS skip your 2nd, double post.

Just wait before hitting “Post-I agree” more than once for your 1st post to appear. Sometimes, depending on site traffic, you have to wait about 10 minutes for your 1st post to appear.

It reeks of your over-the-top, crazy trolling days.

    Just sayin…
