#103 Oh and the government forcably taking your money away and giving to another group of people is not a christian thing at all. Giving to the poor through Charities on the other hand is. Repugs actually donate more then Dems to charities every year.

I am not against taxes per say, but I am against taxes that don't make sense. YOur big speech was nice, but "giving" through taxes has problems. Did you know that the current social programs cost so much right now that the government needs to add $6,700 to each and every households taxes just to break even? How can we afford Universal Health care when we can't pay for what we have?

#103 I am referring to the pork that ran out of control under the repugs rule. It is probably the main reason that I am turned off by them as they had larger Fed budgets then anyone ever and there pork spending was out of control. Again, the repugs are heartless bastards so you can't expect them to use that money to help those without healthcare right? Now the Dems on the other hand are supposed to care about the poor. You yourself are referring to the repugs in very harsh terms and most here seem to agree that the pork the repugs spent was flat wrong.

Is it wrong this budget cycle if the Dems spend untold billions on pork? I would say they are also just as wrong as the repugs. Furthermore, the Dem side is the one screaming about the uninsured. Last year it cost us roughyl $100 billion to get health coverage to the uninsured. Why not take the money the Dems are planning to waste on pork and simply use it for the uninsured? They will spend way more then $100 billion on pork so why not just shift it over? Are you cool with that idea or are you here to rip on the stupidity of repugs that aren't in control anymore? We can agree that the repugs spending habits was horrible and they pissed away alot of money. Is this crowd going to let the Dems do them same thing?

Are you going to support and back them when they do even while we have uninsured Americans that could have got all the coverage they would need with the waste of congress? There are times to simply defend the party and times when you simply can't. I can't support the repugs spending and I hope this crowd won't support the Dems if they waste money on pork instead of give it to the needy.

I'd rather all Americans have equal access to medical care. Silly me.

OMG, the Mayo Clinic! Yeah, no Americans ever go there for their specialized care. Oh heavens, foreigners appreciate their expertise, too.

#93 Ultimately we all fund each others health insurance. My company picks up 80% of my cost. That 80% is passed along to consumers. That 80% also gets them a tax deduction so they ultimately end up paying 52% after federal tax effects. When I pay my bills I am paying for indigents who can not afford health insurance. I am paying for those who do not or can not pay their medical bills. I also pay 1.45% of my wages for Medicare, as does my employer. etc... In years where I pay insurance all along and have maybe a couple of dental trips and an annual physical I am paying for others as my insurance subsidizes others who do use insurance. So the whole notion of paying your own way just does not exist. If we went to a pay your own way 100% of the time system our life expectancy would drop dramatically.

Those who complain about national healthcare only seem to think of a) themselves and B) others free-loading off of them. Remember this your side is the side that says they have Christian values, also remember that Christ said whatever you do to the least of my brothers you do unto me. Christ also did not care why people were in need, just that they were in need. Your attitude of everyman for himself is very un-Christian like. But mostly you are again raising a straw man argument. Suppose, and there are a lot of people in this boat, they just can not afford health insurance. How about people working two or three jobs where none of them provide insurance and all of their money is going towards food and shelter? How about a friend of mine who runs his own construction business, he makes enough to live on, but can not afford health insurance. He works 50 - 60 hours a week. Is he lazy? There are far more people like I described here, than there are lazy wolframs as you describe them. or how about those veterans who are getting sub standard care? They really can not afford to go out and get better care and they are not allowed to without approval.

Roger Roger, are you referring to the pork that ran out of fucking control during the republican reign in congress? I'm all for that.

However think about this. I pay my portion of the insurance, I pay out of pocket, I pay Medicare My company pays a portion of my insurance, they pay a portion of Medicare etc... I think if national health care went into effect annd they used all of these fund sources, the net effect to me would be close to $0.

I am paying for those who do not or can not pay their medical bills. I also pay 1.45% of my wages for Medicare, as does my employer. etc… In years where I pay insurance all along and have maybe a couple of dental trips and an annual physical I am paying for others as my insurance subsidizes others who do use insurance.

He works 50 – 60 hours a week.

I’m all for that.

However think about this. I pay my portion of the insurance, I pay out of pocket, I pay Medicare My company pays a portion of my insurance, they pay a portion of Medicare etc… I think if national health care went into effect annd they used all of these fund sources, the net effect to me would be close to $0.

#99 Would you rather have cheap health coverage? That includes a mdeical field that doesn't spend much on research and developement. It also includes fantastic extras.

For instance, Dr. Kevin Fleming of the Mayo Clinic did an analysis of the Canadian government-run health care plan and found that on average there is a 17-week wait for referrals to specialists, nearly 60 percent of the diagnostic equipment, i.e. C.A.T. Scans, MRI equipment, etc. is outdated and many of the high tech diagnostic equipment taken for granted in U.S. hospitals is not even available. He also found cases of 18-month waits for bypass surgery.

Afterall, you certainly don't see American's flocking to India, Canada, or England for Health Care but you see them coming over all the time. I live in Minnesota so we constantly see foreigners coming to the Mayo Clinic.

R2Dumbtoo thinks that because many Americans are paying more for insurance than they can afford, having less to spend on food, that the system "works".
Sure hope R2 never loses his job.
