“The House of Representatives voted today to create a new congressional committee, devoted solely to addressing the issue of global warming. Legislation creating the new ‘Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming’ passed 269 to 150, with 44 Republicans voting in favor of its creation.”

March 8th, 2007 at 5:34 pmFinally, there IS a Santa Claus, Virginia.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:36 pmFinally, some good news on this topic…
March 8th, 2007 at 5:36 pmAnother religious caucus. They can meet in the same room as the mormons and the islamists.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:36 pmToo little, too late.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:39 pmThat’s right, too late. Dispand this joke committee before they take away more of our liberties.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:41 pm#5- You mean that after two months of dismantling six years worth of corruption the 110th isn’t working fast enough?
March 8th, 2007 at 5:43 pmThank god. Finally we have a start in this battle. I hope they take this job seriously and don’t just hold meeting on it for the next 2-4 years :(
March 8th, 2007 at 5:43 pmCongratulations to the republicans that can think for themselves at least on this single issue.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:46 pm#7 No, the US should have been at the forefront of this for the past decade.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:46 pmIt is only to late if we fail to get China, India, and Russia on board. The combined are planning to increase their emissions by over 700% by 2025 which would effectively increase global emissions 2-3 times. Even if this global warming committee somehow got the USA to reduce emissions by 50% (which would be good) it would be meaningless unless we get those three countries to join us. The EU is only planning a 20% reduction which isn’t hardly enough either. They did say they would up their planned reduction to 30% if other nations joined them, which we should.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:47 pmThese people are going to have to move fast if we are going to save our planet from major catastrophe.
Good luck.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:47 pmOFF TOPIC:
Democratic bill would have troops out of Iraq by fall 2008
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/03/08/democrats.iraq/index.html
Please call your Dem reps and tell them this is NOT evidence of them doing their “job”. Don’t play politics with the troops lives.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:48 pmGlobal warming? Oh, you mean that nonsense that “scientists” who make a living getting grants from the government to study global warming and would be out of a job if they didn’t say global warming was a problem?
March 8th, 2007 at 5:50 pmStu, “hey man, it’s Stu!”
Please provide proof (link) or else I call BULLSH*T.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:52 pmWhat a pant load. Expecting these politicos to avert a castastrophe that doesn’t exist. If these fools were serious about this non-issue then they would do something about the Chi-Coms instead of trying to wreck the greatest economy in human history.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:53 pmPatrick1 says: “Dispand this joke committee”
Dispand- To spread out; to expand.
That’s the spirit! Way to be supportive! We need to expand this global warming committee since it’s a serious topic! I’m glad you’re finally thinking about the future!
March 8th, 2007 at 5:54 pmStu-stu-studio,
Those same scientists you claim are on the Government dole would get paid REGARDLESS OF THEIR FINDINGS since they’re paid to study “Global Climate Change”, IDIOT.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:54 pmThis is Roger_Rogers argument for anything relating to this topic.
“They aren’t doing it, so why should we?”
Fu*king weak Roger_Roger.
March 8th, 2007 at 5:56 pmThe world is flat! The world is flat!
/nonsensical troll remark
March 8th, 2007 at 5:58 pm#10- Yes, they should have been. I guess this is our wake up call. Let’s not take our eyes off the ball, again.
March 8th, 2007 at 6:00 pmExcuse me, trolls, 44 Republicans voted for this…
March 8th, 2007 at 6:00 pmI’m not surprised that 44 Republicans would want to pander to the MSM.
March 8th, 2007 at 6:02 pmStu -
That is simply not true.
The gvt gives grants for research, not to buy off their point of view (like, say, Exxon?).
To do so would suggest we do not live in a free republic, rather … hmmm… what’s that word?…
Oh Yeah – A Fascist Gvt!
but nothing like that is going on with this Administration, right?
March 8th, 2007 at 6:03 pm/sarcasm
#19 NO you sh*t head. my arguement is that WE SHOULD DO SOMETHING RIGHT NOW so we can demand they also do something. Please don’t try to make politics out of an issue this important. You can try to spin my message but it won’t work. I am very clear on it. We are doing nothing in the USA and that effects our ability to make demands on the really big polluters based on intensity studies. Now is the time for the USA to get serious. We need to make a committment TODAY for reduction much larger then anyone elses planned reductions to make a statement and to force the rest of the world to join us. You are evil and obviously don’t realize how important this issue is. Why you and your kind undercut Global warming and try to just use it for politcal gain is weak and very dangerous.
March 8th, 2007 at 6:03 pmI do have to agree with Rogerx2, that whatever the rest of the world does is moot if China in particular does not make an attempt to curb emissions.
March 8th, 2007 at 6:04 pmWe can all put the screws to the Wal-Mart sponsored race to global environmental ruin by supporting American manufacturing and goods.
Another global warming thread.
March 8th, 2007 at 6:08 pmHow long before the Norwegian shows up for an in depth discussion.
I’d rather watch paint dry.
They can meet in the same room as the mormons and the islamists.

Learn something useful today – followers of Islam are called Muslims, not Islamists. Idiot.

What, you referring to the GOP?
They can meet in the same room as the mormons and the islamists. Comment by Patrick1 — March 8, 2007 @ 5:36 pm
How is that different from the GOP again? Yet another religious caucus.
Or haven’t you received your talking points from valiant venus yet? We’re secular humanists, athiests and anti-religious on the left – we leave the religious fundamentalism to you rightie nutjobs where it belongs!
March 8th, 2007 at 6:23 pmI’m not surprised that 44 Republicans would want to pander to the MSM.
Comment by Patrick1 — March 8, 2007 @ 6:02 pm
But only on this topic? Cause they aren’t ‘pandering’on anything else of relevence… Idiot.
March 8th, 2007 at 6:24 pmRoger_Roger,
Hey d!ckhead, how about you post something showing your concern about global warming without mentioning India, Russia and China? Every time this topic comes up, you say the same exact thing. That would be what is called your point of view, so I don’t have to spin it.
Here’s a good question:
Why do you all of a sudden care?
March 8th, 2007 at 6:33 pmAccording to Patrick1, those that follow the Holy Bible are Christists.
March 8th, 2007 at 6:34 pmComment by Roger_Roger — March 8, 2007 @ 6:03 pm

No way, Vince P would want all the credit for anything he posts — he’d use his own name.
March 8th, 2007 at 6:51 pmYeah, I see that – Patrick is definitely michael.
So what happened to Vinnie? He practically lived here… Think he got replaced?

March 8th, 2007 at 7:46 pmLady Z, great, funny post’s today…..Question for all. what’s the definition of a blue dog democrat.?..Heard the term thrown around a lot lately and don’t know what it mean’s…Blessings
March 8th, 2007 at 7:57 pmThanks, Sharon. :)
This is what I found on Blue Dog Dems (on Wikipedia):
Blue Dog Democrats are a group of 44 conservative to moderate Democratic Party members of the United States House of Representatives. The Blue Dogs are a coalition of like-minded Democrats whose primary mission is to promote fiscally responsible budget reforms and accountability for taxpayer dollars. Many members hail from conservative-leaning districts, where liberal Democrats and liberal values are a decided minority. (Emphasis added)
March 8th, 2007 at 8:07 pmStuart,
You mean the Reicht Wing has been funding the work of the devil (?Global Climate Science?)
Is your skin burning yet?
The ‘devil’ is calling you…
March 8th, 2007 at 8:32 pmThe Dems are playing hardball…good for them.
March 8th, 2007 at 9:08 pmThank’s Lady Z…..Sorry all I was off topic….Regarding the thread…Glad the power’s that are in control are finelly working on this….Our planet and all living thing’s should be front and center…Ending the war’s and removing the evil empire known as the bush administration still has to be among the top priority’s….We all are able to multi task, well except the war monger’s so all these thing’s can be accomplished…Blessings
March 8th, 2007 at 9:09 pmAnytime, Sharon.
We were already off topic anyway, talking about Stuey’s big old pile o’ crap. Which he still hasn’t backed up. Surprised?

All That Is LEFT
Is for GOP to say
“I am BEREFT!
I’ve the DEVIL TO PAY!!!!”
AIN’T IT THE TRUTH–HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR!!!!!
Spundge Boy,
Why is it a problem for you that I am concerned about Global warming and why don’t you want me to bring up the world’s worst polluters? It would be purely political BS not to. How could anyone fight for stronger reduction in American like I do and not point out the biggest danger to this planet? It was be unsafe and cruel to ignore that problem with China, India, and Russia. I can only assume that you too are one that feels we should ignore those countries and continue to treat Global warming as a fun politcal “gotcha” game.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:59 amFools! Fools! this is all a giant pile of crap! you are wasteing billions of dollars on pointless endevers. all the cash we waste on “global Warming” could feed all the 3rd world countries for years.
