Rep. Jones (R-NC) backs House Iraq timeline.
Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) “signaled Thursday he supported the plan proposed by Democratic leaders today to lay out a specific timeline to withdraw U.S. troops. ‘Conceptually I like what’s been proposed…I think this is on the right track,’ he said. Jones praised the benchmarks in the plan and the inclusion of a date certain for beginning a withdrawal of US troops.”
UPDATE: A new poll shows that a “majority of Americans in competitive, conservative-leaning House districts approve of setting a date for troops to withdraw from Iraq.”

They say he’s thinking about changing back to a Dem. (He used to be a dem, before he perceived it would be politically advantageous to be a rethug. Talk about keeping your finger in the wind.)

March 8th, 2007 at 7:24 pmWar resisters have been protesting military cargo which is being sent from the Port of Tacoma in Washingto state to Iraq yet liberal sites such as Think Progress have been strangely silent covering this important event. There needs to be more media coverage, both mainstream and on the Internet, so that people in this country and around the world are made aware that civil disobedience is being taken against the Bush administration in trying to stop this illegal war/occupation in Iraq.

March 9th, 2007 at 12:53 amPulling some troops out of Iraq by August of next year sounds weak to me. They need to all be pulled out before Christmas of this year. Another year and a half in Iraq means at least 1 to 2 thousand more US soldiers killed and another 10 to 20 thousand wounded or maimed.
