Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) “signaled Thursday he supported the plan proposed by Democratic leaders today to lay out a specific timeline to withdraw U.S. troops. ‘Conceptually I like what’s been proposed…I think this is on the right track,’ he said. Jones praised the benchmarks in the plan and the inclusion of a date certain for beginning a withdrawal of US troops.”
UPDATE: A new poll shows that a “majority of Americans in competitive, conservative-leaning House districts approve of setting a date for troops to withdraw from Iraq.”
There 1. Now we only need more and a lame one line posting from Patrick1.
March 8th, 2007 at 6:46 pmAnother rat is leaving the sinking ship.
March 8th, 2007 at 6:57 pmI’ll wait to see how he votes.
Just sayin’
March 8th, 2007 at 7:01 pmHA! This is the same Rep. Jones who was responsible for “Freedom Fries” in the House cafeteria! He has been backing off his support for the war for quite a while, though. They say he’s thinking about changing back to a Dem. (He used to be a dem, before he perceived it would be politically advantageous to be a rethug. Talk about keeping your finger in the wind.)
March 8th, 2007 at 7:05 pmAnother pakiderm just playing around in the cat litter box.
March 8th, 2007 at 7:09 pmWalter Jones is one of the largest pieces of sh!t to ever be elected in NC!! A compete waste of DNA, space, time and thought!!!!
March 8th, 2007 at 7:24 pmWar resisters have been protesting military cargo which is being sent from the Port of Tacoma in Washingto state to Iraq yet liberal sites such as Think Progress have been strangely silent covering this important event. There needs to be more media coverage, both mainstream and on the Internet, so that people in this country and around the world are made aware that civil disobedience is being taken against the Bush administration in trying to stop this illegal war/occupation in Iraq.
March 8th, 2007 at 7:34 pmdixie blood, yea, yer right. That boy Walter, went to sh1t and the hogs ate him. I guess he will say, whatever he thinks he needs to say, to stay elected.
March 8th, 2007 at 7:35 pmActually, I wonder if Walter Jones or asswipe Jesse Helms is the worst ph*ck wad ever elected in NC?? Jesse was a complete piece of sh!t! Walter seems to want to beat Jesse’s racist, fu$k headed record like a marathon runner. Walter Jones is a completely useless American!!!!
Walter Jones = CUA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 8th, 2007 at 7:48 pmAh, but remember dixie, there are the 35%ers who love him.

Rachel, didn’t Zooey just ask you nicely NOT to post this drivel (amusing as it is on the first read) on every thread?
March 8th, 2007 at 8:32 pmAre we going to have to call the site monitors on you again?
The smart repugs will get on board with the Dems because the Dems are where the nation is.
March 8th, 2007 at 8:45 pmBush&Co have no credibility except for the 29% consisting of paid trolls, inbreds, and other lowlifes. Repugs can cast their lot with them, or join the rest of America and defy Bush.
Regime change (in America)…
…is the only way we can save this union…
…Repulsivescum are fomenting civil war right here…
…that’s why they lifted the assault weapons ban…
…Liberal Progressives…
…the ban is STILL lifted…
…and if you haven’t taken advantage of it…
…you might want to before it’s too late…
March 8th, 2007 at 9:14 pmJones is a RINO turd. I know this sounds like a bumper sticker but if you don’t want to stand behind the troops, stand in front of them, PLEASE!
March 8th, 2007 at 10:57 pmDon’t be fooled by the right wing corporate controlled media’s…
…constant harangues about Democrats not being united…

March 8th, 2007 at 11:31 pmdixie blood, yea, yer right. That boy Walter, went to sh1t and the hogs ate him. I guess he will say, whatever he thinks he needs to say, to stay elected.
I disagree. He spoke out against the war long before the polls said he should. Yes, he is the freedom tickler guy but he has been against the war for longer than most Dems.
March 8th, 2007 at 11:33 pm#18 How about being one of them, chickenhawk.

I did my time (13 months) in Fallujah, a$$hat. Typical nutty lib assumption.
March 8th, 2007 at 11:45 pm#23 You speak like a chickenhawk. Have you written your congressman about Walter Reed? Cause your party doesn’t exactly “support the troops”. To be fair though, they are good at buying Chinese made “Support the Troops” stickers.
March 8th, 2007 at 11:48 pmYes, I have. My Congresspeople are RINO turd Jones, do nothing Dole and Burr. And you silly libs still want socialized health care? Walter Reed is what you will get. Gov is not the answer to the problem, gov IS the problem!! As far as sounding like a chickenhawk… Are you high? There is nobody more pro-military, anti nutty lib America hater slime.
March 8th, 2007 at 11:56 pm#25 Dipshit, Walter Reed was privatized. Your buddies from Halliburton took over the administration of WR. Or didn’t Fox tell you that? No, I suppose not.
March 8th, 2007 at 11:58 pm# 26 – That’s why Halliburton, not Army Generals, have been in front of congress this week and getting fired left and right, yeah, that’s right. The ONLY thing gov does well is tax the public. That’s it.
March 9th, 2007 at 12:15 am#27 Read a little Stubby.

When the government is run by incompetent st*pid fcuking CON morons like you – yep, that’s true. But that’s true of companies (Halliburton) Politicians (Bush) Religious leaders (Haggard/Falwell, etc), and private citizens (You). That’s just a slap at you right wingnut fools, not the government – you moron!
March 9th, 2007 at 12:50 amThat’s it? “read a little”?????? Again, how typical. You nutty libs assume you are smarter than everyone. Your superiority complex is very unbecoming.
March 9th, 2007 at 12:53 amPulling some troops out of Iraq by August of next year sounds weak to me. They need to all be pulled out before Christmas of this year. Another year and a half in Iraq means at least 1 to 2 thousand more US soldiers killed and another 10 to 20 thousand wounded or maimed.
March 9th, 2007 at 12:53 amI disagree. He spoke out against the war long before the polls said he should. Yes, he is the freedom tickler guy but he has been against the war for longer than most Dems.
Comment by JPark — March 8, 2007 @ 11:33 pm
True. To add…Jones turned against the Iraq war after going to just one funeral for a troop killed in Iraq.
