The House Judiciary Committee today requested documents from the White House related to the Bush administration’s purge of eight U.S. attorneys. “The committee is also seeking to interview at least one current official in the White House’s counsel’s office, William Kelley, Deputy Counsel to the President, and former White House counsel Harriet Miers.” Read the letter from Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) and Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA) HERE.

Hey, Can we get a “Go F*ck Yourself from the veep on this one?
March 9th, 2007 at 4:17 pmThe WH is sure to decline this.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:20 pmAlright, let the investigations begin.
IMPEACH!
Now Patrick1 needs to say something like “Hillary Clinton likes Muppet Babies.”
March 9th, 2007 at 4:20 pmSince when are US Attorneys supposed to be protected if they can’t follow the Cheney Party Line? How ungrateful they are, to be appointed to do the work of the Dubya Boyz and then actually try to uphold the law the way it was constitutionally written.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:22 pmStop with the pussy footing around and issue subpoenas already.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:23 pmYou can run to South America, but you can’t hide! RR on AAR said that the Guatamalans want to purity thier Mayan historical landmarks after Bush visits them. Apparently, herbs and incense is needed. There was no mention of blood from a sacrificed virgin, but I’m sure Cheney and Rove are leaning back, spreading thier legs and dampening thier respective panty areas over the thought of that one.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:31 pmThey may not all be successful in the end, but the Democratic committees are doing the work of the people in investigating the White House. More power to them. They have their work cut out for them, and they have a lot to investigate, but they have time.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:33 pmAh, the Congressional hearing that Harriet Myers (ex-Supreme Court nominee) never had.
Bring it on!

March 9th, 2007 at 4:41 pmI smell impeachment.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:46 pmI smell impeachment, too. I love the smell, don’t you? War crimes is a lovely scent, as well.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:51 pmPiggybacking on Marie #7…

March 9th, 2007 at 4:53 pmI’m wondering just how long Arlen Spectrer plans on sitting on his ass and mouthing off…How about a little ACTION Arlen?
Integrity isn’t something that you wait until the last minute to use.
QUOTE:
From TruthOut’s selection of the Washington Post Article By Paul Kane and Dan Eggen
Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, suggested that Gonzales’s status as the nation’s leading law enforcement officer might not last through the remainder of President Bush’s term, pointedly disputing the attorney general’s public rationale for the mass firings.
“One day there will be a new attorney general, maybe sooner rather than later,” Specter said at a committee hearing where a new round of subpoenas to the Justice Department was considered.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:16 pmI am disappointed in the persons who confronted Obey in the House and confronted him on the war. They seemed misguided to me. They should be protesting to the Repugs who are standing behind Bush - >#13 bigpapa offers a few names.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:25 pmThe Dems ARE working on getting us out of Iraq; we should press them to keep at it, but the stumbling blocks are the Repugs.
By their nature, liberals/progressives do not think in lockstep — they see a bigger picture and approach problems from different angles; they all need to know we, the people, will stand behind them and not call them out at traitors for cutting funding for the surge, or for calling for a timetable or whatever — we are the ones who should let Dems know we will not betray their courage, if they will show courage and stand up to Bush. We should let the Repugs know we will not forget who put politics over lives and defended Bush.
Who would want the kinds of answers this White House manufactures??
If you want to be lied to, ask a liar a question.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:08 pm#14 I hate to be the one to break it to you but hot air is all Specter has. He is a Bush tool.
March 10th, 2007 at 12:30 amA Dictatorship would be easier… As long as I’m the dictator.
