“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and the Nevada Democratic Party announced today that they are backing out of a Fox News-sponsored presidential debate in August following Fox President Roger Ailes’s recent remarks comparing Democratic Senator Barack Obama to al Qaeda terrorist Osama Bin Laden. Fox News did not answer calls seeking reaction to the decision.”
UPDATE: Markos on the winners, the losers, and what comes next.
UPDATE II: Fox News responds attacks: “We have not received official word from the Nevada State Democratic Party disclosing a change in debate plans. Rumors are being circulated and if true, news organizations will want to think twice before getting involved in the Nevada Democratic Caucus which appears to be controlled by radical fringe out-of-state interest groups, not the Nevada Democratic Party.”
UPDATE III: Reaction from MoveOn, Robert Greenwald, Matt Stoller and others is HERE.
Insannity will just say they were afraid of an old-fashioned debate.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:32 pmLet’s see Brit Hume smirk now.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:33 pmA good move.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:34 pmThe Dems would have been sandbagged.
It is time to start hitting them where it hurts, in the Corporate pocketbook.
Let’s get the list of War Profiteers out here, the defense contractors and armaments industry.
Let’s get a list of the public retirement funds who invest in war profiteers and put pressure on them to divest such investments.
Let’s put pressure in insurance companies who do likewise.
The same goes for the mutual funds.
Let’s get public pressure to drive their stocks down.
MAKE PEACE MORE PROFITABLE THAN WAR.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:34 pmWill they actually cover this news item? Will they ask why? Didn’t think so.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:35 pmThis Rethuglican megaphone needs to be shunned. About time this was shut down.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:36 pmPerhaps Dems are finally catching on. The only way to shed light of the propaganda organ that is Fox is to begin to define them in that way and refuse to participate.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:41 pmFox should not be allowed to run political debates of any kind. Why is Fox trying to run debates when their views are well known.
Of course they will say they will ‘balanced’ in their debate…but they are saying this everyday on their networks for years…But are they really?!!
March 9th, 2007 at 5:45 pmGreat news!
March 9th, 2007 at 5:46 pmGood move. It’s time to stop pretending that Fox has anything to do with news and that it’s anything but the propaganda arm of the Republican party. Fox Noise doesn’t even pretend that it’s not doing the bidding of the White House and the GOP anymore.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:47 pmMore of this please!
Serious politicians that are interested in real issues, debating facts and moving the country out of the coffin that the current criminals in the White House have thrust it into shouldn’t even acknowledge Fox News’ existence. This is a step in the right direction toward restoring credibility to our politics. Fox news is a disgrace and the people out there that tune in are exactly what ails this once great nation.
Eliminating electronic voting machines next!
March 9th, 2007 at 5:48 pmGood. Actions speak louder than words and to not play ball with the cheating players and Repub propaganda machines says more than enough. Shut ‘em all down and good riddance.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:49 pmFair and balanced I think not,the sly giggles the side way looks
March 9th, 2007 at 5:49 pmwhy would Dems want to have anything to do with tabloids
for serious debating
Is anyone else out there going to DC next weekend for the protest at the pentagon?
March 9th, 2007 at 5:52 pmTears of AWESOME.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:58 pmThe Democratic party is finally growing some. Good.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:59 pmgood… any credible dem should have scoffed at the very idea of Fox HOSTING a debate… the very idea is ludicrous
March 9th, 2007 at 6:05 pmJust imagine Hannity or O’Reilly asking the questions…!!
March 9th, 2007 at 6:05 pmAll Democrats should boyoctt Faux News , for lying about Obama
March 9th, 2007 at 6:16 pmattending a Islamic madrassa. Faux is “unfair and unblanced.” They’re
nothing but the American Al-Jazeerah. All they do is promote the
corrupt Bush administrations disastrous policies.
Hey, but FOX is Fair and Balanced right?
hehehehe
March 9th, 2007 at 6:19 pmTime for a little bit o’ the ol’ spineroonie, like “Dems cut and run from fair and balanced debate” or some such crap.
Instead, we return to our regular scheduling of bigoted, shouting retards.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:21 pmSince Rupert Murdock has already admitted openly that his agenda with FOX News is to push the republican agenda, this is perfectly appropriate and a great sign the Dems are learning how to deal with this propaganda factory.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:22 pmI’ve been writing to democrats telling them to boyvcott fox, and do not issue press credentials for the DNC
Maybe they’re getting a clue?
March 9th, 2007 at 6:26 pmHooray!!
March 9th, 2007 at 6:27 pmAll in all I think they would have held there own even knowing they were going to be sandbagged.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:35 pmGreat! Faux News should be shut down for spewing propoganda.
It’s amazing to me that many public places have Fox tuned in. I always ask politely to change the channel and I have never had anyone not change it. If they ask why, I tell them that Fox is the TV equivalent of the National Enquirer and it spews hateful lies.
It’s interesting to see that there is another channel tuned when I revisit.
Little things add up. Confront the rightwing bastards where you can.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:37 pmI guess you could air it on MSNBC. Then again, no one would see it.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:41 pmthis is perfectly appropriate and a great sign the Dems are learning how to deal with this propaganda factory.

Propaganda factory, I like that…and oh so accurate.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:43 pmI am happy that this happened. I would like to think that our collective remarks to the DNC had a part in it- keep beeing vocal!

March 9th, 2007 at 6:48 pmThis is a good start. I think the Dems would only boycott Pravd …er.. I mean Fox entirely! Pure propaganda TV.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:51 pmAiles’ quote: ‘And it is true that Barack Obama is on the move. I don’t know if it’s true that President Bush called Musharraf and said, ‘Why can’t we catch this guy?’ - - Looks more like Ailes calling Bush a hooplehead than anything else.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:54 pmdemocrats= typical cowards
March 9th, 2007 at 6:54 pmMakes you think we’re accomplishing something.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:54 pmSTUPID DEMOCRAT LIBERAL COWARDS… first they won’t debate on FOX, then they won’t pardon “Ride Me To Prison” Scooter, what next? start listening to a progressive talk station on the radio and having pride in their party? If “the Dick” Cheany could only see his reflection, he’d roll over in his grave.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:55 pmI don’t want to go on the 3rd most watched cable channel.I might have to answer a tough question.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:56 pmMakes demorcats look weak and sad.
Faux Noise down, now it’s time to put pressure on the other 4 biased news outlets everytime they spew their conservative lies. (Albeit less often than Fox)
March 9th, 2007 at 6:58 pmMy tactic is when somebody says something really politically stupid I ask them if they heard that on Fox News. They start thinking about their source. Debate would have given Fox credibility and ruined all my hard work. LOL
March 9th, 2007 at 6:58 pm#30-mandolin,
Agreed. That would be excellent. A world that focuses on peace instead of killing each other.
I see now why you are so appalled.

March 9th, 2007 at 7:02 pmMaybe Harry Reid is waking up! Geez, he is so slow on the uptake. If he was President, he would be like Carter, surprised that the Soviet Union had lied to him.
A debate sponsored by Fox News? “By Golly, that sounds like a great opportunity for Democrats!”
March 9th, 2007 at 7:05 pmOur celebration over this bit of news only shows the dumb depths to which we’ve all sunk. To think the dems have sunk so mentally low that they even CONSIDERED letting Faux News run a debate is nothing less than absurd. Horrah for the phoney opposition party! Pathetic that we now cheer a move not at all extraordinary, but merely common sensical.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:09 pmWow! The democrats cut and run strategy applies to FNC debates.
Wander if John Kerry was for the debates before he was against it?.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:09 pmCheck out Roger Ailes acceptance speech at the “free speech” awards.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:12 pmHe clearly is trying to silence the free speech of millions of Americans at the event.
Hard to beleive, isn’t it?
Fox Spews is so bad it’s a wonder the Dems even considered attending in the first place. High time they woke up.

Democrats didn’t want to be affiliated with the network that turned a gay porn star into a news pundit and that turned Bill “Phone Sex/Blame the victim” O’Reilly into a semi-God.

March 9th, 2007 at 7:15 pmOxyCon How is that?
March 9th, 2007 at 7:15 pmKeep wanderin, we’ll be right here when you return.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:17 pmGay porn star into a news pundit? Didnt know Olbermann worked at FNC before.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:18 pm“Next you all should get together and have a hippy jamband festival. That’ll change things. Call Phish call Bono. Stand around holding hands and sing “Imagineâ€.
And that proves or disproves WHAT about Fox News?
Personal attacks are SO much fun, especially when you don’t have any facts with which to argue, aren’t they?
March 9th, 2007 at 7:18 pmHAHAHHAHHAHHAHHAHAHA…!
Finally, some backbone.
Don’t worry phil @ 47… theres gonna be a lot more to whine about soon.
HAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA
March 9th, 2007 at 7:18 pmphil, you can cry and whine all you want, you can ball your little fists, stomp your feet and have a tantrum, but Democrats were smart enough to listen when Rupert Murdoch told a British interviewer that his goal for FOX news was to press forward the republican agenda. Now, in your little mind, that might seem appropriate for a major News network, but all that proves is that you have no clue as to what journalism is.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:19 pmFox Spews likes to promote closeted transgenders who use hate-speech as a way to get attention.
Fox Spews should be fined for indecency
March 9th, 2007 at 7:19 pmphil, since you obviously are a FOX viewer, I’m surprised you didn’t see the gay porn star sitting there with the FOX crew as they lavished praise on him. All MSNBC did was point out that he had been a gay porn star.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:21 pmIs phil really Victor Ashe?
March 9th, 2007 at 7:22 pmWhat was olbermann doing sitting with the fox news crew
March 9th, 2007 at 7:25 pmRIght-wingers don’t have a point of view. They are stupid and incapable of understanding reality so they live in denial believing that bloviated nonsense spewing from such trash as Fox News is anything but bloviated nonsense.
Right-wingers are so dumb they prefer bloviated nonsense to truth and honesty. Right wingers are so dumb they like being lied to. They are like narcissists who want desperately to believe that the idiot they see in the mirror is brilliant.
For proof of this, just look briefly at O’Reilly, Limbaugh, and most any troglodyte on Fox SPews. Their heads are oddly shaped and their suits too large.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:25 pmNow the liberal hate comes out.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:28 pmOh Phil I’m just getting started. YOu ain’t heard nothin yet. I know you can’t take it. You can dish it out, but you just can’t take it, cause you’re just too dumb.

Got It?
Let those initials make you REALLY think about what their intentions are about!
Adelante!
March 9th, 2007 at 7:30 pmIt’s real easy to explain Phil. What Ailes refers to as
“Pressure groups” is really millions of Americans using their Constitutionally guaranteed right to free speech, and Ailes is trying to silence them all, audaciously at a “free speech†awards ceremony.
Here is Ailes speech where he tries to silence the voices of these Americans:
“I feel compelled, however — on a serious note — to say a few words. We’re headed into covering a tough political season and all of us will be called upon to do our best and be fair. Recently pressure groups are forcing candidates to conclude that the best strategy for journalists is divide and conquer, to only appear on those networks and venues that give them favorable coverage.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:31 pmThere’s a long tradition of news organizations, national and local, sometimes together, sponsoring presidential and other candidate debates. The organizations and the panelists have been the objects of a lot of advice and even pressure as to how these debates should be conducted and what questions should be asked. This pressure has been successfully resisted, but it’s being tried again this year with the added wrinkle that candidates are being asked to boycott debates because certain groups wants to approve the sponsoring organizations. This pressure must be resisted as it has been in the past. Any candidate for high office of either party who believes he can blacklist any news organization is making a terrible mistake about journalists. And any candidate of either party who cannot answer direct, simple, even tough questions from any journalist runs a real risk of losing the voters.”
phil: “Now the liberal hate comes out.”

March 9th, 2007 at 7:33 pmPhil - let’s take Newt Gingrich - he’s on tv now babbling and bubbling about how he prays to God for forgiveness because he had an affair while trying to impeach Clinton. But that really isn’t the worst of Gingrich. He actually handed one of his wives divorce papers to her in the hospital when she was suffering from cancer.
Gingrich is the perfect example of a man too freakin dumb to come in out of the rain. Knowing God as I do, Gingrich won’t be forgiven. He’ll be condemned to watch O’Reilly mishapen head and witness O’Reilly’s mishapen soul til the end of time. A perfect punshiment

March 9th, 2007 at 7:34 pmChildrenogLir…..don’t forget Poland though.
Yes, the wingers are living in a parallel universe created very deliberately and patiently by a well-monied lie machine that has targeted the feeble minded and the hateful. This alternate reality of bigotry, fear and anger is the only chance they have. 9/11 gave them a temporary foothold with millions of otherwise reasonable people, but those folks are coming to their senses and the Limbaugh’s and Hannity’s of the world are starting to look foolish to them as reality scrapes up against their lies.
What comes around….

March 9th, 2007 at 7:41 pmNo private media network should “host” a debate. Debates should be paid for out of public funds, made available to all public TV outlets for free, with feeds offered to private TV networks for a minimal cost.
Let’s take the corporate media out of our national politics.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:41 pmYour right let me leave with this- Democrats cut and run strategy isn’t going to work in iraq or FNC.

“So. Mrs. Clinton. When did you stop being a dike?”
“So Mr. Obama. Are you really black?”

March 9th, 2007 at 7:42 pmAlso liberals have Fox News Derangement Syndrome.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:43 pmphil, you’ve got nothin’
Here’s a thought: put on a “Vote Hillary” button and try to get into a Bush event. Find out how courageous your fellow Bush cultists are when faced with a lone Hillary supporter.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:45 pmphil,
Before you go, please take a few minutes and do me one favor. This is an honest question.
Define liberal for me. I mean thoroughly, not this single sentence crap. Let’s hear your well-reasoned definition.
Thanks.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:46 pmAlso conservatives have Fox News Derangement Syndrome.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:50 pmWhen will these neocons stop treating us like we’re stupid? Do they REALLY think anyone believes anything they say? ESPECIALLY Fox. It’s so insulting, yet comical, the outrageous statements coming from the media. I never dreamed I’d live in a time when America was run by such insanely criminal leaders who control and put out the crap for TV news watchers. Well, shit runs downhill and we’re not swallowing it. ANY of it. Barak Obama has credibility. Most people know that. The ‘news’ is now, unfortunately, watched for entertainment purposes only. We’re really feeling desperate to change our leadership to law abiders instead of bad deciders. They should all be held accountable for all the BS from 9/11 to the present and all of the media that goes along with that that are parties to the many, many, crimes.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:53 pmWhoever okayed this in the first place should have their head examined. At least they cut the cord on it.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:57 pmYes, yes, yes! To counter attack against a radical form of government, radical decisions must be made. Actually, Reid’s action is not really radical, but for the Dems, it’s an important message that we will not let ourselves be stooged by the right wing media.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:03 pmPhil - tell us about how Bush’s strategy or whatever he calls it is working in Iraq. TELL US ABOUT THAT PHILLIE BOY. HUH!!!! Tell us about MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. TELL US PHIL TELLLLLLL UUUUUSSSSS
March 9th, 2007 at 8:03 pmSort of off topic but not completely since John Edwards got the ball rolling on telling Faux to go screw, does anybody else think he’s a damn legitimate choice for President?
When he was running in the Dem primary before Kerry won the D nomination, I thought he good, not great. He was clearly smart but his “Two Americas” struck me a little too hokey, too quaint considering the flaming bag of dogshite that the Bushies had made of our foreign (and oh yeah..domestic) policy.
I see a different, better Edwards now. He’s been doing yoeman’s work for worthy, charitable causes since. Helping fight poverty, visiting Africa, etc. What I’m really impressed with though is that he seems prepared to stand up and fight, really buck the trend and start doing the right thing for democracy and the American people.
He’s been impressive. Perhaps this is why Coulter had to plant the seed early in the world of wungnutia. Edwards must be destroyed. I think they fear him…and for good reason.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:08 pmTHe difference between right-wingers and progressives is right-wingers don’t give a damn about the troops, progressives do.
RIght-wingers sell our troops, our children, to the Saudis for buckets of oil. Buckets of oil for buckets of our childrens blood.
Damn the right-wingers.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:09 pmReid waffles on Iraq. He can’t be a viable candidate. The only viable candidates are the ones who have the guts to stand up against the war, bring the troops home, stop the funding, and stop the impending war on Iran.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:10 pmKeith Olbermann is honest, dem friendly, and would be a great choice to conduct the debate on NBC and MSNBC.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:14 pmExcellent!
March 9th, 2007 at 8:16 pmHeadline News - Nancy Grace - Anna Nicole Smith: New Evidence!!!!
Who would think that US soldiers are dying right now in the streets of Baghdad so that b’tch can glare into the camera from beneath heavy makeup and eyelashes, acting all high and mighty over the bodies of countless dead women. She loves to report on dead women but has nothing to say about Iraq.
People like Nancy Grace need to be sent far far away.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:17 pmFirst of all any debate without Nader and Kucinich won’t be a debate. It’s just be the same old bs. So let’s not get all dewy eyed about how great a debate would be. Spare me the bs.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:19 pmMSNBC is my favorite news network, I watch it every day! When I’m away from home, I catch the podcasts. Each of the MSNBC anchors does have his/her own spin, but at least I know it’s coming from them personally and not some Australian who decided to insert himself in the politics of the USA by hiring a bunch of actors to play journalists on his pet news channel.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:34 pmSo Phil, when you refer to ‘cut and run’ you must be referring to the president and vice president and many of this administration……no? But, they didn’t even show, that’s right, so they couldn’t even be referred to cutting and running, they just hid from the get go. Now that is something to brag about, you go guy!
March 9th, 2007 at 8:42 pmFox News has the Fox Derangement Syndrome, Phil. Take an aspirin.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:48 pmBRILLIANT - you folks are just a gift to your cause.
Like it or not, FOX news is a leading outlet. If you only want
your candidates to preach to the choir….you will ALL be one hand clapping in the forest.
Good Luck with that!!! LOL
March 9th, 2007 at 8:55 pmFirst of all any debate without Nader and Kucinich won’t be a debate. It’s just be the same old bs. So let’s not get all dewy eyed about how great a debate would be. Spare me the bs.

I agree. Nader and Kucinich would make them all sweat. And why shouldnt they? This debate should be about us seeing what these people really got.
March 9th, 2007 at 8:56 pmFOX news is a leading outlet.
Comment by janh
Have you ever seen what is coming out of that “outlet”?
March 9th, 2007 at 8:58 pmJanh
Tell us about preaching to the choir. Ever seen Bush speaking to anything but. The guy doesn’t have the guts to face a real crowd. Nor do any of your right-wing fascists.
You’re right about one thing. Fox news is a leading outlet. A leading outlet of gaseous waste.
March 9th, 2007 at 9:00 pmJanh- That’s not how TV works. They don’t feed it to us “like it or not,” WE tell THEM what we want to watch, and if they don’t give it to us fast, they’re not a leading network anymore.
March 9th, 2007 at 9:00 pmjanh,
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Fox News has been preaching to the choir since its inception. Never appealing to a middle ground, reason, or respect for the other side (or the truth for that matter). When Fox wants to get serious and cut out the partisan hackery, maybe the rest of us stop laughing at them.
BTW, they have a small fraction of the audience of the major networks (which are also pretty much full of shite), but you wouldn’t know that, because you get your facts from the likes of…well Fox News.
March 9th, 2007 at 9:02 pmJanh
Fox spews and the rest of the corporate media sell our childrens blood for buckets of oil. None of you care about the troops. You care about money and power.
Buckets of blood for buckets of oil
Shame on you and your kind. The day will come when you will reap what you sew
March 9th, 2007 at 9:05 pmThis Fox representative stated words that seem to mean that
“CANDIDATES” are being unfair by boycotting certain news venues!
His words are somewhat invocative of the fairness laws on political coverage on public airways.
Those rules state exactly the opposite!
They were attempting to ensure that the “PUBLIC MEDIA” gave equal time to diverse “CANDIDATES” and “OPINIONS”.
Nowhere do I remember a law that said “CANDIDATES” needed to be fair to “MEDIA”!
The entire country (me included) needs a history lesson!
March 9th, 2007 at 9:14 pmThe fact that it was even considered demonstrates that the Democrates are terrribly stupid or essentially offering themselves as the kicking dog to the Fox News thugs. I’m sick to death O’Reily and Hanity, Hume, etc. Nothing more than immorral lying shills for the corporate fascists. Swine! Fox News is a curse on democracy. They are truely enemies of America. The are virulent fascist hate mongers, and unfortunately have a large audience of simple minded authoritarians. All willing members of the New Order. All Democratic candidates should boycott Fox News completely. Every progressive needs to put pressure on Fox advertisers as well. To hell with Fox News!
March 9th, 2007 at 9:18 pmI don’t understand why this was being considered in the first place!
March 9th, 2007 at 9:20 pmOutahere
You are tellin it like it is
The Dems who agreed to it were thinking they could seek voters amongst the right wing. Can’t trust those Dems. The only ones you can trust are against the war and are standing strong to get us out of the nightmare. The rest are useless bums.
March 9th, 2007 at 9:32 pmI read the news release from Moveon.org and then tried to go to the links at the bottom that send you to petition sites and every one says blocked infront of the address when trying to link. March 9th, 2007 at 9:54 pmI’m supposed to vote someone as President who’s afraid of a question from Brit Hume?
March 9th, 2007 at 9:55 pmThe url, Bluedahlia, is not formatted correctly. I am not sure why they put blocked:http://foxattacks.com/ in the web pages HTML.

March 9th, 2007 at 10:02 pmBrit Hume. What a freakin joke he is. His jowly faux wise visage is pathetic. What comes out of his mouth is incomprehensible.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:02 pmTowards the end of the Ailes speech he says something to the effect of “Most religions were established thousands of years ago. I have not heard of a government trying to estibalish a new religion recently.” The Constitution does not protect us from religion. But protects us from government interference of our right to religion.”
This guy has not read much about history. The people of early America knew very well what had happened back in europe when governments and christianity mixed. They commented on it often in their writings about why they wrote the U.S. Constitution as they did.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:04 pmbob,
afraid? i think you’re confused. would you trust an accountant to pilot the jet you were landing in? of course not. Brit Hume isn’t qualified to moderate a presidential debate.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:06 pmWe DO have the power to make some things happen, people. Fox’s reputation is growing across the nation and they are losing some of their audience. When they lost more of their credibility, they can go to featuring wrestling and boxing exhibitions. I can see OLielly now, at ringside, with Hannity doing color.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:06 pmBrit Hume isn’t qualified to tie his own shoes.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:10 pmLet’s take the corporate media out of our national politics.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:11 pmComment by bob — March 9, 2007 @ 7:41 pm
What? This is the Republican dream — everything is privatized, corporatized, scrutinized, propagandized.
They do not prefer public TV, in fact they are trying to cut it down to nothing, in addition to placing their favorite corporate hacks in high places (Tomlinson, for example, but I think he has left).

LOL!
March 9th, 2007 at 10:13 pmThanks so much Crazy Eddie! :)
March 9th, 2007 at 10:13 pmLet’s take the corporate media out of our national politics.
The corporate media controls national politics. How you gonna take it out. The only way is to destroy corporate media. Which isn’t a bad idea.
Ban corporate media ownership. Now there’s an idea and from a right-winger no less. Nice thing about right wingers, they’re so dumb they don’t even know when they’ve stumbled on a good idea.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:14 pm#88
Like Gore he is good in the capacity that he is right now.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:15 pm#90
He doesn’t even have debates on his own show, so why would he have clue as to how to host the one in a public forum?
March 9th, 2007 at 10:17 pmFor Brit Hume to host a debate he’s have to learn to speak and think. Not gonna happen.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:19 pmYears ago, Republican party chair Rich Bond explained that conservatives’ frequent denunciations of “liberal bias” in the media were part of “a strategy” (Washington Post, 8/20/92). Comparing journalists to referees in a sports match, Bond explained: “If you watch any great coach, what they try to do is ‘work the refs.’ Maybe the ref will cut you a little slack next time.”
FOX is just some Orwellian trickery. They deny being biased but really are. Its a political canard.

March 9th, 2007 at 10:34 pmUnfortunately for the folks in this nation that aren’t paying attention as closely as many of us, the entire collection of major MSM is Orwellian. Can’t let Americans take a peek outside of their protective bubble. The real world is full of stark realities that would kill profit margins and force us to look for alternatives to our fraudulent, credit card and fossil fueled existence.
Anyone see the story about Ghawar drying up?

No, I don’t have her email. I told her on the ThinkFast thread to dial 911, and copied the comment to TP asking them to try to track her by her IP. There’s nothing else to be done.

March 9th, 2007 at 11:05 pmI wonder why the comment saying I didn’t want to buy your big red toolbox didn’t show up? Huh.
Anyway, nope, don’t need a tool box. Got rid of the husband, so I don’t need the wrenches to throw at his head. :)

She liked the stuff I talked about when I spoke of the morning star, venus and saturn, Lucem Ferre and the phos and phoros. Eo(u)s Socrates and Timaeus. I sure hope she didn’t do anything bad. I actually was getting to like her. I wish people would try to be nicer.

She probably didn’t, but we’ll never know unless she shows up again.
She isn’t a bad person, just has big problems. And when she cycled she really went bad. People only remember the crazy shit she pulled, and didn’t really understand. Although there really is no obligation to do so, especially when she stole names and put up links to child porn.

have to be short thin ones to fit in the drawers!
March 9th, 2007 at 11:43 pmAll Democrats should refuse to participate in any Fox programming.
The Rethuglicans ususally just talk to themselves anyway and ignore the Democratic guests. Worse they use them as punching bags and face it the Dems don’t seem to be able to fight back.
The Dems constantly allow Fox and the thugs (thanks to Luntz and his propoganda coaching) to frame every question in their talking points. If the Dems want to make this country and the world better they need to get more confidence in their message.
They don’t seem to trust themselves anymore and that’s no way to lead.

March 10th, 2007 at 12:12 amI called my pro-union dad with the good news and he didn’t even know that there was going to be a Faux News Democratic Debate in Nevada. And he watches CNN.
The msm as usual didn’t pick up the story but the independent media and the bloggers did, and God bless them, kicked ass.
Phil, obviously, staying holed up in Mama’s basement typing up
nonsensical gobbelygook won’t get you points nor will it keep you from being the most pathetic troll we’ve ever encountered.
The Debate is dead. Live with it. IT IS DEAD, DEAD, DEAD!
March 10th, 2007 at 12:23 amIs it me or should Roger Ailes not try to be funny?
March 10th, 2007 at 1:18 amReally, insulting the two leading Dem candidates and then whining that people are calling for the Dems not to have a debate with them? Is that really surprising. And you right wings trolls…do you think FOX isn’t a right wing mouthpiece after that masterful performance?
March 10th, 2007 at 1:21 am“If you are afraid of journalists, how will you face the real dangers in the world?” Mr. Ailes said. I don’t know, Rog. Maybe you should ask your fearless leader.

Rachel,is that you?
March 10th, 2007 at 3:27 amBrilliant maneuver! The Rethuglican propoganda machine would have loaded the questions, and cut off the answers. As for the Republican candidate, only South Dakota has enough snow to provide Fox news with the snow for all of their “snowball” questions they would have thrown to the crooked Republicans!!!!!!
March 10th, 2007 at 8:02 amKooks say jump Democrat Party says not why but how high.
March 10th, 2007 at 8:09 amIt’s about time! Fox is NOT a news outlet, not a legitimate one anyway. It’s purely a propaganda tool of the repugs, doesn’t everyone with an IQ over 60 know that yet??? It’s like calling ‘Entertainment Tonight’ a news show!!!
Good for John Edwards for saying NO first!
March 10th, 2007 at 8:18 amIt’s about time the Dems start fighting back and stop taking this crap from the likes of Fox. Marginalize the ba$tards.
March 10th, 2007 at 8:31 amUnfortunately only bloggers on sites like this know about this story. It is nowhere to be found in the MSM.
March 10th, 2007 at 8:42 amWhy do you compare Fox to Al Jazeera?
March 10th, 2007 at 9:18 amYou have no evidence to prove that Al Jazeera supports Al Qaeda’s terrorist acts against innocent civilians, if that’s what you are trying to imply.
Fox “news” is PROPAGANDA.
So say folks from Canada I MET as we crossed back into the USA from Mexico.
The REST of the WORLD (and 70% of the US population)
KNOWS Fox is PROPAGANDA.
Good move, Dems.
MARGINALIZE them just like Karl Rove marginalized REAL JOURNALISTS like
Helen Thomas.
Then only the RIGHT-WING WACKOS will believe Fox.
Kinda like now.
Murdoch SAID that Fox tried to influence the elections in favor of Bush.
That’s not NEWS.
It’s PROPAGANDA.
God Bless America, the Democrats and the Troops.
FVKC lying TRAITORS like Bush and Fox PROPAGANDA.
March 10th, 2007 at 9:20 amGOOD! Now they need to stop giving ANY interviews to FOX. DO NOT APPEAR ON FOX!
The FOX viewers need to know they are being fed PROPAGANDA!
March 10th, 2007 at 9:46 amFox News is State run television. I’m glad the dems are finally realizing what they are up against.
March 10th, 2007 at 10:03 amThis is a copy of a letter I sent to each member of the Nevada Democratic Party administration on February 22nd. They must have gotten a few more like mine. :)
Hello Mr. Collins,
I’m a Democrat from Florida but I wanted to urge you to drop this debate with Fox News as the “sponsor”. Fox News is a propaganda organ of the neocons, in case you have not noticed. I shudder at the spin they will apply to the debate events. This is, to put it mildly, a very, very bad idea that serves the interests of the Republican party much more than the Democratic. Fox News will love the validation you give them as a “news’ organization and roast you, and the candidates, with innuendo, lies, and fabrications. Look what Fox has done to Obama already. It is insane to have them sponsor this event. Please, stop this sponsorship and seal them out of the proceedings. They must be called and exposed as a neocon propaganda outlet, not validated as a legitimate news source.
Sincerely,
March 10th, 2007 at 12:10 pmHad FOX NOISE been allowed to serve as the moderator, it would have only been appropiate to have both Keith Olbermann and Randi Rhodes to serve as moderators for the Republican debates….
March 10th, 2007 at 12:50 pmYou know Fair & Balanced…
Al-Jazeera has much more credibility than Fox “news”.
March 10th, 2007 at 1:20 pmThat’s just the first step in growing some cajones. There are so many more issues where the dems have to be more aggressive. One thing I learned as a union steward–that the dems need to learn now–is that it’s OK to be called confrontational, an obstructionist or uncompromising. We need to stand–unrelentingly–for our beliefs, our convictions and the constitution.
Thank you John Edwards for starting the boycott of FOX and the debates. Of course, Russ Feingold has long ignored FOX.
And a big thank you to Henry Waxman. Investigate. Impeach.
March 10th, 2007 at 3:14 pmToo many issues so little time.
Maybe Democrats were just scared to go on a network that people actually watch. They might be held accountable for what they say. They may look stupid.
Probably a good decision for the Democrats.
Besides, everything is all just for show at this point. Hillary has already been anointed for 2008.
March 10th, 2007 at 4:08 pmIs there an actual link that can be provided? Or did someone just make this up? Provide a source, please.
This makes the fifth time I have pointed that out on this blog.
March 10th, 2007 at 4:23 pmHow about comparing Roger Ailes to Sydney Greenstreet as Casper Gutman(tm) from THE MALTESE FALCON(tm) or Sir Alfred Hitchcock, BOTH OF WHOM ARE DEAD AND BURIED, AS Roger Ailes SHOULD BE–DEAD AND BURIED, THAT IS!!!!!

Speaking of no news. Anyone hear anything in main stream media about the new creep, political criminal appointee in Arkansas Tim Griffin? Check this: (he’s the jerk that sent his secret plans ,called caging,( I think the repubs got caught pulling this shit 20+ years ago and promised mommy they would never do it again), to disenfranchise black soldiers, deployed overseas, of their votes in 04 and he sent his plans to a bogus white house web site .org instead of the official white house site.com,lol .so the guys with the site forwarded the info to a great reporter(Greg ? USA today I think? I can’t believe I can’t remember TRUE PATRIOTIC reporters name, I’m an idiot) Now this schmuck Tim-bo is Head PROSECUTOR in the state! Do you believe this crap!!!! The psychos are runnin’ the asylum kiddies!
Air America and Nova-M get the whole story. I’m sure Greg’s interview will enlighten you much more elegantly then this blerb I tried for, Sorry. Hope I gave enough info to follow up.
Oh yeah, And here’s one for the PUKE FILES.
Also got this on Air America/ Nova-M radio.
We forgive debt to countries like Africa so we can help them out of crisis they face, aids, starvation, ect. We did this recently, and sent like a billion in relief from us tax payers, BUT their are these parasites out there that buy up this debt for pennies on the dollar and actually bleed the country dry, making obscene blood profit off of these transactions, called VULTURE funds. In the past,Presidents, literally by the stroke of a pen could stop this in it’s tracks, and typically have. So now we get to the crux of the biskit.
Why won’t Georgy porgey do it? He promised a British official, who stormed into his office last month and demanded action, Shrub said “in 2 weeks” that was about a month ago and still NADA!!!!!!!!
HMMMMMM, could it be that the #1 profiteer is a vampire named Paul Singer,The shrubs #1 donator
