“Tom DeLay is becoming a commentator for CNN, according to John Fund. In today’s WSJ Political Diary, he writes: ‘Despite his antipathy toward liberals, Mr. DeLay joked that he’s happy to work with them. He told me he is about to sign on with CNN as a commentator. “I may be their only conservative on air, but someone has to do it.”‘”
The Glenn Beck Station will now be the Tom Delay Station?
March 9th, 2007 at 2:05 pmI didn’t realize CNN had a comedy segment.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:07 pmI guess he hasn’t heard of Glenn Beck…Headline News is still CNN before any of you sheep open your mouths!
March 9th, 2007 at 2:07 pmShouldn’t he be spending time on his defense? I hope CNN realizes he’s not going to be there too long.
With Beck, DeLay, and numerous visits from the likes of Coulter, how is CNN part of the “liberal media”?
March 9th, 2007 at 2:09 pmHow do you feel Ted? happy that you sold out to punks? happy that your “baby” is “pro” organized crime?
sorry, but you had the opportunity to make a difference and you sold out.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:11 pmCNN is playing limbo with FoxNews but they don’t understand that if they win they have actually lost.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:12 pmOh My God! The media has gone mad mad mad… Who, with an ounce of intelligence or a speck of respect for the truth..would give a grap what Delay has to say….I programmed my TV to skip FOX about 3 yeras ago..now it is time to do the same with CNN….
March 9th, 2007 at 2:13 pmSo….he wants to go to trial??? Let’s fast-track it then. This man can not spell truth, much less speak it.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:14 pmoldtree,
Ted Turner has already said that selling CNN was the worst mistake he has ever made.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:14 pmTo become “made” in the mob you often have to kill a member of a rival family. To become “made” in the corporate news world you have to hire the most despicable person from the ruling criminal party.
CNN is now a “made” network.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:15 pmcnn is not liberal. tom delay is not conservative. lies lies lies.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:15 pmOh no, not another Delay resurrection.
No wonder the Hammer keeps comparing himself to Jesus…
March 9th, 2007 at 2:20 pmI’m sure they’ll find a place for Scooter Libby as well once he’s pardoned. And how about Duke Cunningham and Bob Ney once they’re released from prison? For that matter, why wait until their release? And perhaps Jeff Skilling can do a business report from the big house.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:21 pm#11. True on both counts. Glen Beck alone is evidence of the first, and on the second point, what true conservative supports interventionist foreign policy and record-setting federal deficits?
March 9th, 2007 at 2:21 pmTom Delay shielded Saipan from regulation and oversight when he was in office. Here’s some of what took place there:
In 1999, Soon Oh Kwon, president of Kwon Enterprises, and his wife pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to violating federal laws against involuntary servitude.
The two admitted to bringing Chinese women to Saipan in 1996 and 1997 on contracts to work as waitresses. Instead, they were forced to work as “bargirls” at Kwon Enterprises’ karaoke club, K’s Hideaway. The women were forced to have sex with the patrons, Kwon said.
If the Chinese women said they wanted to return home, they were told they could not leave until they repaid their debt for coming to Saipan. In case they had any thoughts of leaving any way, they were told they would be killed if they tried, Kwon said.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:25 pmwhat next!? aside from me never watching cnn again…..
March 9th, 2007 at 2:28 pmWhere does CNN get off hiring an indicted felon???
March 9th, 2007 at 2:31 pmTom Delay also protected Willie Tan, who had an empire in Saipan.
…the Tan Family has had a history of involvement in sweatshops:
In 1992, the U.S. Department of Labor filed suit against five of Tan’s factories. It said that employees were forced to work 84 hours a week with no overtime and below the territory’s then-minimum wage of $2.90 an hour.
The suit also said that many of Tan’s employees were not allowed to leave their work sites or the barracks where they lived.
Tan ended up paying $9 million in restitution to 1,200 employees. Up to that time, it was the largest fine ever imposed by the Labor Department.
Frank Murkowski, then chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, called the conditions faced by workers there “appalling.” In 2000, he marshaled an immigration-reform bill through his committee and through the Senate.
However, in the face of DeLay’s opposition, it died in the House.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:34 pmDon’t watch CNN much. Only Jack Cafferty is worth watching. Now I will just have to swoop in now and then and try and catch Jack. A station that would hire DeLay is a station that is without any credibility. Hasn’t Glenn Beck all ready lowered their standards enough? Don’t they know they can’t outfox FOX?
March 9th, 2007 at 2:34 pmMaybe he and Glenn Beck can do a show together to give us both sides of the issues. Idiots.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:36 pmThis is Tom DeLay reporting live from the bottom of a Johnny-on-the-Spot. Today we have an exclusive interview with the bowels of former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert. Oh wait he’s just sitting down. It’s getting dark since no light can get around such an arse. Tell me Mr. Hastert’s bowles…what do you think of the chances of the Republicans in the 2008 elections?
SPPLLLAATTTTT!
I apologize for my sophmoric humor but it was a funny visual in my noggin’.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:37 pmThe liberal media strikes again!
(I wonder if FoxNews would consider hiring Chomsky, you know, being “fair and balanced” and all)
March 9th, 2007 at 2:38 pmThey can’t be serious about hiring someone with a reputation for being so dishonest, can they? What’s the point of hiring a liar to do commentary. There’s plenty of intelligent people who can share a conservative perspective who are not liars.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:40 pmSure Tom, you’ll be all alone with Glenn Beck, Joe Watson, Bill Bennett, Ed Rollins and the rest of clamheads.
-GSD
March 9th, 2007 at 2:40 pm21, TP…if anyone is monitoring perhaps you can trace Rachels Ip and find out where she lives so you can get some help to her ASAP.
Rachel if you’re still there please hang on and we’ll get you some help.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:41 pm#26
I contacted to hot tips line and asked them to review this thread.
Rachel please stop and think about what you are saying and doing.
Please don’t do anything foolish.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:43 pmCNN, the liberal media???
March 9th, 2007 at 2:44 pmRachel…
Let yourself jump ahead in time,
to the day when you are free
from the pain and sorrow,
and you will look back
on the distant memory
of how you almost died,
but somehow you lived through it.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:50 pmCNN is finished.
March 9th, 2007 at 2:53 pmI ask Roberto Gonzales, why hasn’t Tom DeLay been indicted for running a slavery enterprise in the Northern Marianas? Simple, George W. Bush obstructed justice. Do these people have any concept of integrity or the rule of law?
March 9th, 2007 at 3:02 pmI’m going to use my cable settings to block CNN. It’s disgusting.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:04 pmMaybe his segment will find him ‘embedded’ in a Federal prison, reporting on the wonderful food & conditions.
The only other freak I can think of to even come close to DeLay is Baghdad Bob.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:11 pmAnyone e-mail CNN yet?
March 9th, 2007 at 3:17 pmHello TP??? Have you made any effort to contact Rachel? Any effort to send help her way? You can’t do nothing. You got to do something!
March 9th, 2007 at 3:23 pmYou break the law, disregard the laws and rules that surpose to govern this county. Lie and cheat, etc., and you get rewarded. Shame. This is what our children see?
The media sucks.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:24 pm“Oh My God! The media has gone mad mad mad… Who, with an ounce of intelligence or a speck of respect for the truth..would give a grap what Delay has to say….I programmed my TV to skip FOX about 3 yeras ago..now it is time to do the same with CNN….
Comment by SparksNV — March 9, 2007 @ 2:13 pm”
Good riddance!
March 9th, 2007 at 3:25 pmDelay is a stone cold criminal. I guess Wolfe is even further gone than I thought.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:25 pmWOW,
This will certainly be weird seeing CNN have a conservative point of view and Delay none the less. What a 180 for CNN going from a purely 100% lib Network.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:27 pmTP…if anyone is monitoring perhaps you can trace Rachels Ip and find out where she lives so you can get some help to her ASAP.
Rachel if you’re still there please hang on and we’ll get you some help.
Comment by Larry from C
Larry,
I already emailed them.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:32 pmDeLay can use “Can’t Touch This” as his theme song!
But only if he shows up for work in his balloon pants.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:36 pmI e-mailed CNN. I encourage others to do so.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:38 pmI question how much commenting he will be able to muster for the “liberal media” as there is enough muck on this guy to label any of his commentary bull shit or bug shit.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:41 pmI can’t wait to see the effects he will have on cnn demise.
Wow he thinks the conservative media is liberal. That’s not shocking, but it certainly is notable on how far to the right this guy swings. I wonder where he rates in comparison to, say, Hitler?
March 9th, 2007 at 3:44 pmI wonder if I’m a scuzzy enough piece of dog-vomit to qualify for employment at CNN.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:49 pmDear Mr. DeLay
March 9th, 2007 at 3:52 pmMay I ask you to reconsider your choice of employment, and suggest a return to one of your earlier professions.
It seems Walter Reed Hospital has a cockroach and rodent problem.
Guess you weren’t aware of this matter.
Raven
My God….when is that man going to prison, so we don’t have to look at him or listen to him anymore? Please let it be soon. BTW, what’s up with the “wet look” or “Ken” hairdo’s of all of these evil republics? Is it like a secret signal to each other or something?
I assume contact info for CNN will be posted soon? Looking forward to it, and looking forward to MSNBC’s rising fortunes.
March 9th, 2007 at 3:54 pmGive me a f*ing break. I’ll be certain to advoid CNN at all costs. *Hores of a feather, stick together, I guess. Ratings are more important than morals, apparently.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:02 pmTom Delay is a scumbag and anyone that hires him will be immediately soiled by his presence.
To CNN I say please do not do this. Instead let FOX pick up both Santorum and Delay. FOX with extremist employees, guests and viewers will concentrate all the scum in one area so that we will know were they are.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:07 pm#39 What a 180 for CNN going from a purely 100% lib Network.
AHHHH Roger …………Have you ever watched Glenn Beck? He is about the most right-wing wack job this side of Hanitee-hee and O’Lielly.
Might want to reconsider that post, ya think?
March 9th, 2007 at 4:12 pmGlenn Beck = douche bag.
Unwatchable, if you ask me.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:13 pmDeLay is delusional. A “liberal” press never would have walked in lockstep with the Bush administration during the buildup and the first couple years of the Iraq war, as they did.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:15 pmCommenting on the cockroach killing methods CNN is using on the set, I presume?
March 9th, 2007 at 4:18 pmYo! Maybe they can do a segment on prison “dating etiquette” from his cell
March 9th, 2007 at 4:20 pmAs long as he stays out of government I don’t care what he does.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:24 pmCommenting on the cockroach killing methods CNN is using on the set, I presume?
Comment by RUCerious
Maybe a better choice of employment would be for DeLay to work Walter Reed killing cockroaches and vermin.
March 9th, 2007 at 4:26 pmHey, Tom- Who’s your bitch?
March 9th, 2007 at 4:35 pmI would like to make the point that very few of the people who claim to be conservatives are actually conservatives, whether they are in the Republican Party or in the media. This certainly includes Tom Delay. True conservatives claim to believe in the following:
March 9th, 2007 at 4:39 pm1) Smaller, less intrusive government
2) Strong guarantees of constitutional liberties
3) Effective national defense
4) Lower taxes
5) Respect for human life
Tom Delay and the rest of the pseudoconservatives are diametrically opposed to every single one of these principles.
1) Under Bush and the megagovernment neoconservatives, government spending has increased enormously. As far as less intrusive government goes, the theocons have rammed through the PATRIOT ACT; the Military Commissions Act; initiated a massive database collection program, involving ATT and the NSA, not to mention the FBI; have effectively suspended habeas corpus; and have created laws, which make the imposition of martial law far too easy.
2) This same group has effectively shredded the constitution, in regard to the above mentioned points.
3) As far as effective defense goes, this is the group that can’t even defend its own military headquarters, as we witnessed during the attack on the Pentagon on 9-11-2001. Furthermore, they couldn’t catch bin Laden, if he were a ranch hand in Crawford, Texas. In addition check out this link, where Seymour Hersh describes the escape of 4-5,000 Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters, aided and abetted by these same neocons. http://www.prisonplanet.com/the_getaway.html
And let’s not forget that in destroying Valerie Plame’s Brewster-Jennings and Associates WMD network, they have materially increased the chances that the smoking gun from this case could be a mushroom cloud. And last, but not least, they have created an Al Qaeda paradise in Iraq.
4) The ultimate cost of the Iraq war has been estimated by Nobel Laureate, Joseph Stiglitz, to be $2.26 trillion. This is a staggering sum that will increase taxes for at least two generations.
5) As far as respect for human life goes, these “conservatives†have fomented a war in Iraq that has resulted in the deaths of 655,000 Iraqis; turned Iraq and Afghanistan into depleted uranium superfund sites, that have seriously compromised the genetic future of everyone in the region; and have promoted torture and other serious human rights abuses at Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, and Bagram Air Force Base. (And this is the short list.)
Thank’s Lady Z for letting them know, I hope it isn’t true about rachel but if it is I hope someone get’s to her in time…Blessings
March 9th, 2007 at 4:42 pmWho better to report on the endlessly growing number of Republican scandals than the folks who were involved in them? G. Gordon Liddy, Robert Novak, Tom Delay…. takes one to know one.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:04 pmI haven’t watched CNN in awhile. I guess I will not start now that they will have this criminal on the air. Whatzamatter ol’ Tom? Is blogging not working for you? Can’t get a job on K street? Why not go back to huffing DDT, after all, it isn’t harmful to your health or the environment or anything.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:08 pmWell…MSNBC’s viewership is bound to go up another notch or two. I don’t watch CNN much anymore. I did watch the Situation Room at times but Wolfie is a wimp and his monotone voice is more than I can stand, and I did watch American Morning when I worked a later shift, but Soledad started getting on my nerves.
Yeah, I know John Dean was a Watergate criminal and has been on Countdown quite a few times, but he’s an intelligent criminal. DeLay is just an idiot criminal. No intelligence in his brain…
March 9th, 2007 at 5:33 pmDelay might just fit into this new media model–after all, Joe Scarborough only had one dead intern found in his office.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:47 pmGlutalgia,
Thanks for that run down. I copied and saved it for future reference. Great summary!
March 9th, 2007 at 6:12 pmTom Delay on CNN great we will be able to have live updates from prison when he goes to join the likes of Duke Cunningham, Scooter and with any luck George Bush and Dick Cheney.
March 9th, 2007 at 7:44 pmTom DeLay–COMMENTATOR ON CNN WHO WILL SHOW ALL OF AMERICA HOW TO LIE, CHEAT, AND STEAL MONEY FROM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THEN TURN AROUND AND SMEAR HIS POLITICAL OPPONENTS FOR LETTING HIM GET AWAY WITH IT–THIS ODIOUS CREEP NEEDS A PARABELLUM TO HIS CEREBELLUM!!!! OR A GARROTTE TO HIS NO-ACCOUNT GEEK PENCIL-NECK, WHICH I WOULD LIKE TO SNAP AS EASILY AS I WOULD SNAP A ROTTEN TWIG!!!!!
March 10th, 2007 at 4:13 pmI see the liberals still do not understand that the only guy in trouble is not Tom Delay, it is Ronnie Earl, the partisan hack who dropped a case against Kay Bailey Hutchinson when it was ordered to trial, for lack of evidence, and when he does it again, for lack of a crime, much less evidence, I feel that Mr Earl will be charged with wrongfull prosecution. Tom Delay won’t be so nice and neither will the real democrats in Mr. Earl’s district.
Ronnie Earl is just another political hack that will bite the dust like that democrat that caused innocent young men, in the Duke rape case, a lot of grief over the lies of a whore just to court the black vote. Ronnie Earl is the same kind of man.
Liberals will stoop to anything to smear President Bush, as has been evidenced by the, what, 17 different meaningless surrender proposals for the war in Iraq. It has become so very important to democrats to spill all of the secret methods used to track money to terroists, to undermine the ability to monitor phone conversations between terrorists overseas and their co-conspirators in the U.S. and lets let the enemy know we are weak and will run on date certain. I find it hard to understand the intensity of the hatred of President Bush while they undertake an almost excusatory policy toward the real enemies of the U.S. But, then it is always America’s fault and never the Islamofacists, who, if treated like we treat our criminals will be allowed to walk the streets as soon as the liberal judges can let them walk. They, like the criminals with rap sheets as long as a roll of toilet paper, will be allowed to re-dedicate themselves to terrorist activity like the criminals who see no reason to reform.
It would be nice if the liberals would just grow up.
Where are the likes of John F. Kennedy, Paul Simon, Daniel Patrick Monihan and John Breaux, real men, real statesmen.
Now what do the libs have to offer; Al Gore (inventor of the internet & global warming), John Kerry (3 purple hearts in 4 months, none more serious than a papercut), Hillary Clinton (I won’t be a stand by your man kind of woman, remember), Micheal Moore (stages scenes and calls it a documentary & who now has been exposed as the inventor of new form of entertainment called the crockumentary, this will be the next Oscar category just so he can win another), Cindy Sheehan (Hugs for Fidel and Hugo Chavez, dishonors the son she says she cares about and has lost her entire family over her luncacy), Nancy Pelosi (appoints Bill Jefferson, how stupid is a man who freezes his own assets, to the Homeland Security Committee so now instead of bribing others he can be bribbed to divulge national security secrets), John Murtha (a war hero who never fired a shot in anger as Military Intellegence officer in the rear in Vietnam, please remember, liberals referred to Military Intellegence as an oxymoron at the same time he was such an officer), Chuck Shumer (”there selling our ports to the enemy”, whoops, no ports were ever for sale and Hillary just repeated that stupidity), Elanor Holmes Norton, (goes to New Orleans to insure that the poor blacks are again placed in the projects, scheduled to be demolished for mixed income neighborhoods, which are no more than drug infested, crime infested, rat infested, murder a day, warehouses that keeps them poor, beholding and on the democrat plantation), Marion Berry (coke infested, unable to fill out a tax return for the ninth straight year, but gets re-elected), Bill Jefferson (known since Edwin Edwards, a convicted crook, so named him, Dollar Bill Jefferson who now has his assistants convicted, $90,000 in marked bribery money in his freezer & gets re-elected), Barney Frank (likes congressional pages and has a male prostitute as a live in and gets re-elected), Ted Kennedy (lost his life saving, swimming & caring merit badges a long time ago, but dems keep re-electing him).
It is time for that party to grow up.
March 15th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
