The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network has released a powerful video of U.S. veterans who were barred from serving simply because they are gay. It includes a statement from President Clinton acknowledging, “There is no evidence to support the ban.” Watch the video, then help lift the ban:
Who would want to be in the military anyway? Gays are lucky they can’t serve.
March 10th, 2007 at 7:43 pmThere must be a lot of gay people in the military considering the number of extreme homophobes who serve (think about all the men they will be around all day, every day).
March 10th, 2007 at 7:49 pmIf Nico is upset that he wasn’t allowed to join the military he should just say it.
March 10th, 2007 at 7:53 pmSupport our troops and don’t cut off funding.
March 10th, 2007 at 7:58 pmI’m a veteran and I’m gay. Contrary to what your average homophobe would think, I wouldn’t touch Chimpy’s ass with another ape’s Dick.
March 10th, 2007 at 7:58 pmSupport our troops by not referring to them as the bad guys.
March 10th, 2007 at 7:59 pmI seem to remember Bush saying to Sharon of Israel about Osama: “I’m gonna screw him in the ass.” I swear to God, he actually said that. What a frigging perv.
March 10th, 2007 at 8:02 pmSupport our troops, bring them home!
March 10th, 2007 at 8:15 pmGood post’s R..I’m streight and feel sorry for deadly driver laura that’s she’s married to this ass….If I were her I would of used the divorce court’s long before this to rid myself of such a miserable excuse of a man…What am I saying, I would never merry such a whacko in the first place….Blessings
March 10th, 2007 at 8:16 pmSupport our troops by praising them when they capture a top al-Quaeda leader like they did on Friday.
March 10th, 2007 at 8:28 pmThis is unbelievable. The military’s stretched to the point they are lowering their standards to allow more people to enlist, people who normally wouldn’t qualify, plus they are offering $10,000 to $40,000 dollars to entice peoole to enlist, but they won’t let gays serve. These are just the type of idiots who would shot themselves in the foot and wonder why their foot hurts! Geez
March 10th, 2007 at 9:13 pmSupport our troops by NOT voting for the 2 billion dollar supplemental request Bush just asked for.
Support our troops by stopping the funding of this illegal war
Support our troops by stopping the funding and bringing them home
Stop funding Bush’s slaughter of our children.
March 10th, 2007 at 9:16 pmBush, Laura, and Condi are all gay. I’m convinced of it. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
March 10th, 2007 at 9:17 pmSupport out troops. Stop funding their death.
March 10th, 2007 at 9:25 pmThis is what supporting the troops looks like
Protesters Aim To Take Over Lawmakers’ Offices, Fight War Funding
Some opponents of the Iraq war are taking their protests straight to Congress — staging “occupations†in lawmakers’ offices on Capitol Hill and in their home communities.
Erin Cox of Chicago, left, gets handcuffed by Wausau Police officer Todd Baeten Monday, March 5, 2007, as three other peace activists are arrested at U.S. Rep. Dave Obeys office in Wausau, Wis. “Protesters are staging sit-ins in congressional offices in Minnesota and Wisconsin, part of a nationwide effort to pressure lawmakers to vote against funding for the war in Iraq. Rep. Rahm Emanuel’s office in Chicago was targeted on Thursday.
A day earlier protesters were headed off before getting into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office in San Francisco.”
March 10th, 2007 at 10:14 pmAnyone seen Martha Radditz(sp) of ABC news new found love for our troops. She is selling her Book and she says now that the media is partly responsible for the way the WH has treated the troops.
March 10th, 2007 at 10:30 pmCan anyone remember ABC news doing anything critical of Bush. No,most we got from Radditz(sp) was how decisive and resolute the commander-in-chief was.Not one thing on how these families who needlessly lost love ones were coping or how they were treated.
She could have reported on the air about the way the troops were being treated but we must pay to hear her say it.Scoundrels will try and use the troops for personal gain.
Take Martha Radditz out and ….
March 10th, 2007 at 10:36 pmMadame DeFarge is knitting the names of the neo-con traitors and their sychophantic supporters into her work.
March 10th, 2007 at 10:38 pmAn individual’s sexual orientation has nothing to do with whether they are a good soldier or warrior–there have been EXCEPTIONAL warrior/soldiers in history who were GAY, like Alexander the Great, Augustus Caesar, Nobunaga Oda of Japan and most all of the Samurai Warrior Class from way back, ditto the Hwarang Warriors of Korea and Warriors in China as well as Europe, America and the rest of the world–SO LET US NOT USE SEXUAL ORIENTATION AS A MEANS OF “DIVIDING AND CONQUERING” AMERICANS, BECAUSE THE repugnant-repub rightwingnut crank fudge-pachyderms ARE THE CLOSET CASES WHO ARE QUEER BUT ATTACK GAYS–RIGHT, CHIMPya, Cheney, Rove, Gonzales, SHALL I GO ON????????
March 10th, 2007 at 11:13 pmWhat about judging people as to who they are. Not what they are.
March 10th, 2007 at 11:16 pmWait! Wait! This is all part of a giant Gay conspiracy! Don’t you see? By letting all the hetrosexuals join the army and get killed off, the percentage of gays in the general population goes up! And when that happens, their votes count more! Next thing you know, they’ll be legalizing gay marriage and sleeping with their sisters!
/Limpbaugh
March 10th, 2007 at 11:50 pmGays would be wise NOT to serve in the military as long as Bush is in office. He treats all soldiers as cannon fodder, so wait till he is gone.
March 11th, 2007 at 12:17 amAck! The Gay Agenda!
March 11th, 2007 at 12:17 amBush, Laura, and Condi are all gay. I’m convinced of it. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

They are all too stupid to fit in with the gay community…

March 11th, 2007 at 3:51 amSunni group hits new oil law
A leading Sunni group, the Muslim Scholars Association – which is close to Iraq’s resistance groups – has strongly attacked the new Iraqi oil law:
The Muslim Scholars Association, a leading Sunni clerics group accused by the Iraqi government of fomenting violence, said the law as drafted was “invalid and lacks legitimacy.â€
“The occupation forces have been rushing to pass such a law in a way that the rights of generations of Iraqis will sold,” the group said in a statement, adding that U.S. and British forces had “hidden their intentions for many years.â€
“The Americans backed by the British occupation forces have started to reveal their greed for Iraq’s oil wealth,” it said.
March 11th, 2007 at 6:23 amJesus Camp and George Bush
Camp counselors have children rally around and cardbaord cutout of George Bush and chant to it
man this is sick what your doing to children in America
March 11th, 2007 at 7:15 amI thought DADT was stupid when Clinton first proposed it, and I still think so. Well-qualified soldiers, whose sexual orientation happens to be one way rather than another, are allowed to serve only so long as they keep their sexual orientation a secret? Men and women who have a very specialized and highly valuable skill set that is critical to the mission are kicked out, not for anything they have done, but because our leaders are homophobes. Makes as much sense as a lot of things – that is to say, none.
March 11th, 2007 at 7:34 amchartreuse – I recall the situation. Clinton wanted to allow gays to serve openly in the military and there was a HUGE backlash. Don’t ask, don’t tell was the compromise. Another product of Reich-Wing politics.
March 11th, 2007 at 9:01 amGay troops would put the fear of America into any war , imagine American troops raping Iraqi men then shooting their family.
I surrender immediately……
I am not homophobic and If gays want to join the military then so be it , But I would suggest to anybody get a real job not one that pays blood money then when your shot they neglect you ?????????
March 11th, 2007 at 9:03 amAmerican troops raping Iraqi men then shooting their family.

And then burning them together with their house.
March 11th, 2007 at 10:01 amYou mean there are gay people willing to serve in Iraq? Why? Why would any sane person, gay or otherwise, WANT to go there? Do gays crave acceptance that badly that they would risk their lives in an illegal war and kill innocent people to achieve it?
If I were a soldier and they told me if I was gay I wouldn’t have to go to Iraq I’d suck the first dick I could find in broad daylight in front of a company of soldiers, and I’m not close to being gay.
March 11th, 2007 at 1:49 pmYes, immoral people not suppose to serve in the military. If there are some homosexuals born like that, it is because their parents, maybe have use drugs, or some kind of chemicals have effect in their body, and their children’s body. But the majority of them are homosexual, because they decided, under some kind of temptation, to act against their conscience. The homosexuals must be treated for this disturbance in their body. Their acts are unnaturally. I don’t know any animals having sex like that, unless somewhere, humans gave them chemicals, in some way.
March 13th, 2007 at 10:07 amHomosexuals know they are abnormal what ever the cause. No problem. It doesn’t make them less valuable than anyone else.
March 13th, 2007 at 10:38 amCalling abnormal, normal-problem. Being a great linguist has nothing to do with the policy. If a plague carrier was the greatest soldier to ever have lived I would still not want them in contact with thousands of healthy people. And, there are a lot of heterosexuals that shouldn’t be in the armed services. (Mental problems, health problems, moral problems, etc.) Serve your country in some other way don’t tear it down.
Get over it! Policy is policy, I’ve been in the Navy for 8 years and served next to several people of another orientation. This isn’t about being gay or lesbian, its about being able to FLAUNT it. The fact of the matter is that the 2 people a day that are discharged every day are discharged based on their decision to be openly gay, not based on the FACT that they are gay. I’ll be the first to admit that the military could improve on enforcing a moral standard in more areas than this one, but the fact remains you can serve irregardless of your orientation, and that’s more than the military is required to do, especially given the fact that the military is not an equal opportunity employer, and has never claimed to be. If it was there would be handicapped accessible warships, and women in infantry units, and the fact is that they have a better argument, because nobody chooses to be handicapped, and nobody chooses their gender. However, like it or not, being gay is a choice, and being openly gay is a choice as well. Be happy with the inroads that have been made, but don’t push for a compromise in readiness in the name of tolerance. Enough allowances have already been made, and nobody forces those 2 people a day out but themselves.
March 13th, 2007 at 11:55 amWhy do you all keep blaming Bush when your hero Clinton is responsible for this policy? Why should Pace apologize for stating his beliefs? Its what the man believes, apology doesn’t change that idiots! The way he was raised he said! Will go to his grave believing what he said! You’re insulted?I’m insulted about all the whining!Do i want apologies?Noooooooooooooooo! You’ll still whine!
March 13th, 2007 at 2:34 pmEM1- I think your full of sh*t. what you see as “flaunting” is what you do on a daily basis. You have the ability to talk about your wife/husband is some one asks you, you have the right to talk with a buddy about relationship problems, you have the RIGHT!! That is all we are asking for, the right to have a normal relationship and hold a normal converstion with some one with out lying or trying to get around questions when people ask you if you are in a relationship. I know during my time in service I put the balls to the wall and put my life on the line, so don’t tell me I can’t have the same rights as you.We enlist for the same reasons you may have, to serve my country, with honor, courage and commitment.
or wait… maybe you joined for the educational benifits.
March 13th, 2007 at 3:25 pmI’d rather have served with openly “immoral” gay soldiers than some of the so-called “moral” ones! What is worse, being gay or being a criminal? There are plenty of REAL immoral men and women serving everyday . . . while they steal their fellow service member’s belongings, identities and commit a myriad of other crimes. But they’re not . . . pssst . . . GAY, so that makes it a-okay!
HUAHHH!
March 13th, 2007 at 3:26 pmPace should apologize and then be “separated.” His statements of bigotry should disqualify Pace from continuing to serve.
PS. EM1: Irregardless isn’t a word.
March 13th, 2007 at 6:10 pmPS. EM1: Irregardless isn’t a word.
March 13th, 2007 at 7:28 pmDamn. Point taken. But I guess it clarifies the question of joining for the educational benefits. I think I’ve given away how much I’ve had, at least when it comes to english :)
Semper Fi General Pace. Say what you believe and stick to it.
