More Rove fingerprints on attorney purge?»

Newsweek: “Justice officials say the dismissals were for ‘job-performance reasons,’ as well as for failure to pursue Bush administration policy priorities. But where did the list of particular U.S. attorneys to fire come from? Two senior Justice officials, who didn’t want to be named discussing the dismissals, tell NEWSWEEK that Kyle Sampson, Gonzales’s chief of staff, developed the list of eight prosecutors to be fired last October — with input from the White House. In a recent statement, the White House said it approved the firings, but didn’t sign off on specific names.”

Furthermore evidence shows that rove throw a bag of puppies into the Grand Canyon … oh, wait, that was cheney …

gee, I shocked, SHOCKED! I tell you to find out that rove was involved in political skulduggery!

It would be news if we found out these thugs did something honorable.

Not likely to happen since the only honorable thing left for them to do would be to resign.

it’s funny… just when karl’s profile starts to fade, he comes bursting back on the scene… i’m waiting for the day when someone drives a stake through his black heart…

And, yes, I DO take it personally

sharon - when in “style”, i wore what were called “shit stompers”…
probably the same thing as you refer…
so, i have to say, for your purposes, maybe “shit stompers” fits better…
they do leave that tell-tale waffle mark… funny…

  7. aquarius2 Says:

As long as these guys Rove, Gonzales, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Bush can lay blame on the lackeys below them, nothing will change. They have not nor will they EVER take responsibility for any nerfarious dealings. Libby is living proof of this.

Man admits to Walter Reed kickback scheme

This is why some areas in our society should NOT be for profit. The military should be using the tax money to take care of its own. No more outsourcing to private sector.

  11. Marie Says:

I am not surprised, and I expect no one here is surprised either. The question is, When will Rove be made to pay for his machinations?

Thanks for the link. The news item was dated Saturday. Could that have been deliberate to keep it in low profile - surely the court decree did not come down on a Saturday.
This should be high priority news on exposing more civilian contractor fraud.

  13. Uncle Ho Says:

Ashen; the ONLY truly honorable thing for Rove to do now is to hang himself.

  14. Angry One Says:

It was another dismal week for the Republican Party and a Bush presidency now in its last throes. The growing scandals over political motivated firings of U.S attorneys, the conviction of Scooter Libby, FBI Patriot Act law-breaking, the Walter Reed disgrace and continued chaos produced an unusually heavy crop of lies, gaffes and distortions from the usual suspects on the right:

“The GOP Quotes of the Week.”

    TP,

This is really OLD news…(by blog standards)

    Can’t you do better?

Like the NYT calling for Abu Gonzales removal this Sunday morning, today, you know??

    WTF??

Update: Thanks for the Schumer post, but, why are you ignoring the NYT??

  16. Jeremiah Says:

If the White House (i.e., Karl Rove in this case) helped develop and then approved the list of prosecutors to be fired in October 2006, then this would have occurred while Karl Rove was still convinced that his party would win the election and retain both houses of Congress.

Karl Rove had done ‘the math’. He was sure there wouldn’t be a Democratic Congress issuing subpoenas.

    Oops!

  17. Joneses Says:

This man should be in prison.

  18. us navy veteran Says:

I am getting more than fed up with the croyism and incompetence of the Bush Administration. Time for them to go.

  19. R Says:

We all know Rove is at the bottom of this. Get him on just one charge and make it stick, Congress.

  20. WaltTheMan Says:

Rove has cleverly maneuvered himself to a position as an employee of the executive branch of government. As such, he is immune to all prosecution from the Legislative branch, including treason. Only the Justice Department can take action against him and there are two possibilities of that happening - little and none. You can bet your sweet bippy on that pair.

I would think a US Attorney would not be there to “enforce” or carry out policy, but to uphold the law. What am I missing?

You know it, Uncle Ho. I lost track of the peace group here when I went to work for the county — we weren’t allowed to be “political.” No wonder I didn’t last. :-D

Zooey; you are welcome. I owed you one for the agent orange thing.

  26. circusfifthfloor Says:

Everything has little karl’s fingerprints. If you look back over the last six years, you will see behavior consistent with his character flaws. This is a serpent who will face the music one day, and no, I don’t care to watch. He can’t be shamed, but no one will ever pay attention to his counsel again. The misery he has caused this world will be accounted for at some point in time and space…..

What I really get a kick out of is Harriet Miers’ original suggestion that they get rid of all 93 USAs!! This is the same personal attorney to the President that was in charge of selecting the next supreme court nominee (following Cheney’s example back in 1999) selected HERSELF. The same Harriet Miers Bush tried to appoint to the Supreme Court to cover his sorry ass in case some day there were investigations of Bush/Cheny but that that was so incompetent that even the Repub congress couldn’t bring themselves to approve the appointment!
One can only imagine what would have happened if the prez had been successful in appointing the most crazed Bush sycophant since Kathryn Harris.

Hopefully Gonzales will be the next one out the door after Sampson but now we hear that Sampson is still on the payroll (maybe he’s sharing an office with the “semi” retired Rumsfeld, who still has a desk).
