O’Reilly Compares Nevada Debate Opponents To Nazis
Tonight, Bill O’Reilly attacked the “radical movement” that opposed the Nevada Democratic Party’s debate with Fox News. O’Reilly said that MoveOn, “the Daily Kos or whatever that stupid thing is,” and others “use propaganda techniques perfected by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi minister of information. They lie, distort, defame, all the time.” Progressive activists attack Fox News because “we report on them accurately,” O’Reilly said.
Former White House aide Lanny Davis, a close ally of Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), joined in the fray. “I’m inclined to give everybody the benefit of the doubt here except the people that are calling for cancellation of the debate because they don’t like Fox,” Davis said. “I disagree with this pressure from Daily Kos and MoveOn.org to cancel the debate, and I think anybody that took that pressure, including John Edwards ought to be ashamed of themselves.”

O’REILLY: Within the Democratic Party there are two elements, moderate Dems and radical left Dems. The radical movement is funded by George Soros and Peter Lewis, who pour millions of dollars into candidates and web sites like MoveOn to do their bidding. Soros and Lewis have given MoveOn at least $5 million. My book Culture Warrior pinpoints the far-left agenda and it is frightening, things like open borders, a one-world foreign policy, unfettered abortion, and so on. The Soros-Lewis mob despises Fox News because we have their number and we report on them accurately. They use the MoveOn web site to smear this network and others with whom they disagree. These people use techniques perfected by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi minister of information. They lie, distort, defame, all the time. So it’s not surprising that MoveOn objected to a debate sponsored by Fox News and the Nevada Democratic Party. MoveOn immediately tried to boycott the August event and persuaded John Edwards to drop out. That was simply stupid. Fox News has sponsored a number of debates in the past, all of them fair and balanced, and Edwards has appeared on this network more than 30 times with no complaint. Then last Thursday evening, Fox News chairman Roger Ailes received a Freedom of Speech Leadership Award in Washington. I was in the front row when he said this.
AILES (VIDEO): It is true that Barack Obama is on the move. I don’t know if it’s true that President Bush called Musharraf and said, “Why can’t we catch this guy?”
O’REILLY: Not one person complained, according to the organizers of the event. It was just an obvious jest directed at President Bush. But almost immediately Sen. Harry Reid, the Democrat from Nevada, declared the joke a smear against Obama, saying “We cannot as good Democrats put our party in the position to defend such comments.” Now Reid is either very dense or disingenuous. There’s no middle ground. And so the debate has now been canceled. The Soros-MoveOn cabal believe this is a major victory for them but once again they’re wrong. The Fox News Channel has been fair to the Democratic Party and will continue to be fair.

O’REILLY: Let’s go to another honest guy here, Lanny Davis. You wrote a book, and in the book you — I don’t know if pleading is the right word, but you confronted this kind of MoveOn garbage. You said this is destroying the political process — and correct me if I’m wrong, and I’m paraphrasing your book — that there’s good nothing that could come of this. Yet you see the Senate Majority Leader embrace this tactic. What can you possibly think?
DAVIS: You know, I’m inclined to give everybody the benefit of the doubt here except the people that are calling for cancellation of the debate because they don’t like Fox. I think that is the element of our party that wants to talk to only people that agree with us and have a bi-coastal Democratic Party. If we don’t talk to people watching Fox, whether they’re Democratic, independent or Republican, doesn’t matter. We got to be talking to everybody, and I disagree with this pressure from Daily Kos and MoveOn.org to cancel the debate. I think anybody that took that pressure including John Edwards ought to be ashamed of themselves.
O’REILLY: … I don’t think this is driven by politics. I think it is driven by hatred. The h-word. They hate — the Daily Kos or whatever that stupid thing is, MoveOn, Soros, Lewis, hate Fox News, and they’re trying to punish Fox News. That’s what it’s all about.

Our side said from the beginning that going into Iraq was a bad idea. Liberals and progressives don’t celebrate the deaths, we just want out so not so many people get hurt or die. Nevada Democrats didn’t support this stupid Fox/NV Dem Party deal or at least the Party Chair, Harry Reid and the handful of county Party Chairs and Vice Chairs who signed letters of support for this fiasco didn’t bother asking their constituents. Well, that is with the exception of the Carson City Democratic Party. Their Chairman signed the bogus letter of support and shortly after the members of their group voted against it. The rest of us didn’t get a say.
So we owe it to Tom Collins, NV Party Chair and his little robot county chairs/vice chairs for misrepresenting all of us.
Now Nevada Dems look stupid for flip flopping on the ridiculous deal.

I feel John Edwards so far is the only real chance we have for a real chance to get close to what I hope we as a People can be. But, he only backed off after Move On’s pointing out the travesty.

So, Hume kept the debate, as he intended, at his own level, i.e. that of the National Enquirer.

The process was enacted so the citizens of the US could vote for those individuals whose ethics and morals most closely match their own. Moveon.org encourages you to voice your opinion, to write into your Congress-person or Senator, to say what your beliefs are. If US citizens keep their mouths shut, they are only going to get more of the same. We have created a society where it is deemed “wrong” if your view(s) differs from another person sitting next to you. That is what makes this country what it is. Moveon.org just encourages us to discuss those views and speak up about them.
The capability of Moveon.org’s members being so forthright in their beliefs is what prompted the dropping of Fox News from the Republican Convention in Nevada. Had Fox News not misrepresented facts, misconstrued information and actually “investigated” the report on Barack Obama’s schooling, then this probably would not have happened. Had they not focused on his white advisors or his middle name of Hussein, they probably would not be in this same situation.
We want realistic news that has been investigated to its fullest capability. We want the truth and if we are not getting it, we will research avenues to find it. If we know that you are trying to pull the wool over our eyes, we will shout out and not allow it to happen.
The only people I feel sorry for are those that are too ignorant to realize when they are being lied to by political corporations like Fox News.

My original point was that the massive, generally uninformed, majority in this country that all eagerly approved of the war at the beginning but have all done a 180 degree turn are voluntary victims of the trends of inertia. The same level of thought that they put into their original position has gone into their current position and is thus, fickle and precarious to say the least. This massive body of group think is now witnessing a strong armed takeover of the Democratic Party by a seemingly radical group who have convinced themselves that the sheep feel the same way they do…but they don’t. When this uninformed majority are asked the question, “Do you think we should leave Iraq in the next year?†they enthusiastically agree. When asked if we should leave Iraq no matter what the consequences they enthusiastically disagree. Most everyone has the habit of reading information into polls that confirm their own biases. This is what’s happening on the left as we type.
Bottom line—The hard left is overplaying it’s hand right now in a big way. All of the strong armed tactics they are using to end the war no matter the consequences will generate a great backlash. Imagine if the Republicans had been reelected and a group of right wing nuts were making all kinds of real threats to Republicans if they didn’t force a vote to the floor to immediately invade Iran regardless of the consequences. They would have over-interpreted the results of the election in the exact same way and would be subject to the same visceral backlash that the left is about to experience.
Most importantly I wanted to communicate how dangerously unlikely it is for rational thought to occur when you intentionally surround yourselves only with those who share only your own opinions. It’s like a sycophant incubation chamber in here.

Yes, Foxnews leans to the Republican side but CBS, CNN, NBC, PBS and most everyone else leans to the Democrat side. Foxnews doesn’t even offer a counterbalance. I find it “Curious” that the video and the transciprt leaves out the part where John Kerry is on there saying that he believes Fox News is fair and Foxnews has always treated him fair and he regrets not coming onto Foxnews when he was campaining for President. You can go to Foxnews.com and watch the full version of the video. Has everyone already forgotten that CBS and CNN ran with the story about Bush’s military falsified records. What can be more biased than that, foxnews was the ones that uncovered the truth. I watch CNN and Foxnews both so I can determine for myself what the truth is. Anyone that just watches one or the other already has their mind made up and isn’t going to change. I find it apalling though, that this site is accussing Foxnews of being biased but failed to provide the entire transcript and the entire video showing John Kerry agreeing with O’Reilley. Also, when Bush Beat Kerry Foxnews set a record for the most viewers not CNN. Also, CNN called New Mexico in Favor of the Rebuplicans but didn’t call Ohio. Foxnews Called Ohio but not New Mexicao. The following day Ohio officially declared Bush had won. CNN didn’t correct their map because it would have made bush the offical winner. New Mexico was still up in the air. Two days later New Mexicao declared it for Bush and Foxnews changed their map to reflect it and it made Bush the official winner. CNN messed up big time by trying to throw a bias towards Ohio. Foxnews declared it accurately and it reflected. Sure like i said, Foxnews does lean to the Rebuplican side but CNN leans to the Democratic side and thus they have made some fatal news reporting errors while Foxnews has came out smelling like a rose and continue to be a fast growing news agency. Bottom line, best case scenario, this is the pot calling the kettle black.
