18 percent:

By Faiz Shakir on Mar 13th, 2007 at 12:38 pm

18 percent:

Dick Cheney’s favorability rating. Ana Marie Cox responds: “If he had feelings, I’m sure they’d be hurt by this.”

UPDATE: Tom DeFrank writes in the NY Daily News, “Cheney may be an overall net political minus, but he’s a huge asset where it counts most for Bush: the Republican base, which adores Cheney. Bush’s approval numbers are at 30%, roughly the same size as his base. If Cheney left, this weakened President couldn’t absorb the backlash. They’re all he has left.”

But he doesn’t, so he won’t.
I can just hear his mechanical voice,
“The 82% can just Go F*ck themselves”

  2. gummitch says:

It just makes him more angry!

  3. PatrioticLiberalChristian(PLC) says:

If Cheney had feelings, perhaps he wouldn’t have earned such low approval ratings.

  4. VerbalKint says:

Cheney probably celebrates his low rating in his black heart.

  5. barfly says:

Tuna fish sandwiches have higher polling numbers. With onions.

  6. Ty Hutchinson says:

Who are these 18%ers and why are they not on a short bus to hell?

  7. Raven says:

…the exact same 18 percent who think global warming is a hoax….

  8. GSD says:

I wonder if Dick will shake General Peter Pace’s hand next time he sees him. Seeing that Pace said Mary Cheney is immoral.

  12. Raven says:

What is the percentage of Americans who have direct employment with the oil, gas, chemical and those related service industries?
    Rough guesses accepted…

  13. Zooey says:

Ana Marie Cox responds: “If he had feelings, I’m sure they’d be hurt by this.”

    That is frickin’ hilarious.

  14. wayne says:

Turns out saying that Dick Cheney is less popular than torture is like saying slugs are less popular than ice cream. — Ana Marie Cox, from link above

    ROFLMAO!!!!!

  15. Operation Northwoods III says:

WOW! Cheney’s rating FINALLY matches Bush’s IQ!

  16. GSD says:

The same 18% that Andrea Mitchell believes is the majority of Americans who want Irving Lewis Libby pardoned.

  17. Raven says:

“Bush’ approval rating is at 30%, the same as his base…” So, 30% minus Dick Chainee’s 18% equals 12%…
…is this therefore, the actual approval rating for the chimp?
I mean, it’s not like Dubious is really in charge or anything…

  18. Matt Sanchez says:

He can keep cheney and we can use it for all we can in the 08 routing of the
    GOP Adultery ticket.

It is going to be ugly for them in 08. thats for sure.

  21. barfly says:

If Cheney left, this weakened President couldn’t absorb the backlash. They’re all he has left.

These same rock-ribbed conservatives are the ones who can’t decide on an ‘08 candidate. Who will Dick tap as his political successor? My money is on Duncan Hunter. Now there’s a real Kiss of Political Death for ‘ya: with Cheney’s nod, you’d do great in the primaries, and get pounded in the general election.

  22. Gregor Samsa says:

I am willing to bet that, in Cheney’s view of the world, his low approval rate serves as a vindication of his job.

    Orwellian ’til the end.

  23. firehead says:

Who cares? Truman had low approval ratings, in the 20’s and history vindicated him. Dick will be vindicated for his aggresive stance on terror and all the good he has done.

  24. Democrat Soldier says:

@23 – “Dick will be vindicated for his aggresive stance on terror and all the good he has done.” Comment by firehead — March 13, 2007 @ 1:21 pm

And all the good things he has done are. . . . . What? Lying the US into war? Oh, maybe it’s increasing the debt at an unheard of rate? Ohhh! It’s got to be his refusal to be accountable for anything at all!

That’s it, right? Unaccountability from the Presidency! Ding!

  25. VerbalKint says:

  26. R says:

Is your clot getting any better? I hope not. Hurry up and have your stroke, Dick. The news media needs a new lead-in, since Anna Nicole is already in the ground and tired, ‘ole Britney is still in rehab.

  27. DRxJ says:

“If he had feelings, I’m sure they’d be hurt by this.”

If he had feelings, he wouldn’t have sent our brave young men and women into an unjust war!
    Just saying…

and TP, this is my third post today, yet my other two have not surfaced. Have I been banned?
    Just asking….

    Comment by Ty Hutchinson — March 13, 2007 @ 12:43 pm

They obviously took the short bus to school, does that count?

  30. Shane says:

What is the percentage of Americans who have direct employment with the oil, gas, chemical and those related service industries?
    Rough guesses accepted…

    Comment by Raven — March 13, 2007 @ 12:47 pm

Oooh, ooh I know this one – What is 18%.

Too bad he didn’t take that stand before 9/11 huh. Where exactly were all those fighter jets that didn’t scramble when those jets were off course?
Get back to me on that would you.

Ouch. If the poll didn’t sting, that sure did.

  39. JPark says:

#34 And neither will any Regressive…for decades.

  40. Canuckistanian says:

If “the base” (al-quaeda, in Arabic) nets you only an 18% favorable rating, it’s time to re-evaluate your base.

  41. Raymond Funamoto says:

STRANGE how even 18% of DIEHARD STALWART repugnant-repub rightwingnut crank fudge-pachyderms CAN SO SLAVISHLY ADORE a FRANKENSTEINIAN Evil Brainiac Tick-Tock-Tin-Man, Torticola DICK-less B(ugger) Cheney, WHO LIVES ONLY BECAUSE HIS Titanium Heart-Sprocket Keeps on Ticking Away–UNTIL IT BLOWS A GASKET AND SENDS Cheney TO HELL WHERE HE BELONGS, HOPEFULLY SOONER THAN LATER!!!!!
