I certainly don't look at Clinton as a failure either. The man made some huge errors, but all Presidents do. He also did some wonderful things. My only big issue was when he didn't truly go to war against the terrorists that killed Americans under his watch. He did an average job with the economy and didn't raise taxes in any hurtful way which was good. He bettered our Education system as well as other social programs which was also good. Overall, I would give him a B+. I would give Bush on the other hand a C. Bush's management of the Iraq war has been poor. He has also increased the size of the federal budget to an insane size. He also failed to get anything done about Social Security even though most normal Americans see it as the largest threat the USA stability moving forward. Furthermore, he did a piss poor job with our education system. On the positive, he did cut taxes somewhat and our economy is still doing fine (Our trade deficit is tighting which isn't good but needs to be watched). He has also approved a few very good SC justices and at least seems to stand up for what he believes right or wrong which I wish we had more of in Washington.

I don't believe Clinton's presidency was a failure at all.
8 years of peace and propsperity.
Successful prosecution of the bombers of the first WTC bombing. International relations at a high.
There were plenty of troubles, sure, as with every presidency, but historians and people who are qualified to judge have not declared his presidency as failed -- where do you get the info that causes you to make such a broad and mistaken judgment?

Gee , a democracy where the citizenry are clued into the mysterious world of the elected official ,and even get to know what they'redoing while in office ,what a concept !
Democracy is the opposite of secret government !
This is not a partisan issue ,everybody wins when there is oversight and accountabilty present .
Does this mean I'll be able to find out if Albert Gonzales has been violating my civil rights ?

#42 The Dems debate with themselves is pretty much over. Pelosi has called her Dem underlings and demanded they simply vote yes to extend the war. Their main Pres canidates also are in favor of extending the war. The only place they claim to want the war to end now is TV.

Just saw where the “Presidential Records Act Amendments” passed 333-93….Yahoo….from a liberal standpoint, we finally get to examine the records of Raygun & shrub I and to be sure, there will be some unkindly facts to emerge with regard to current administration officials.
Maybe the libs can debate themselves.

Those are my principles. If you don't like them I have others

One can't help but contrast what the Democrat "leadership" in the senate is proposing for a binding resolution on Iraq, a resolution that requires a complete withdrawal by March 2008.

SEN. HARRY REID (D-NV): “As Far As Setting A Timeline … That’s Not A Wise Decision, Because It Only Empowers Those Who Don’t Want Us There.” (Sen. Reid, Remarks To The National Press Club, 01/31/05)

SEN. HILLARY CLINTON (D-NY): “I Don't Believe It’s Smart To Set A Date For Withdrawal. I Don’t Think You Should Ever Telegraph Your Intentions To The Enemy So They Can Await You.” (Village Voice, 9/22/05 Via “Clinton II: Parsing Clinton’s History On Iraq,” National Journal’s The Hotline, 02/13/07)

SEN. JOE BIDEN (D-DE): “A Deadline For Pulling Out … Will Only Encourage Our Enemies To Wait Us Out.” It Would Be “A Lebanon In 1985, And God Knows Where It Goes From There.” (Sen. Biden, Remarks To The Brookings Institution, Washington, D.C., 06/21/05)

SEN. EVAN BAYH (D-IN): “I, For Example, Am Not In Support Of Circling A Date On A Calendar And Saying, ‘No Matter What, We're Out On That Date.’” (John M. Donnelly and Tim Starks, “Iraq Timetable Gains Momentum,” CQ Weekly, 03/12/07)

I want Harry Reid to stand up on the floor of the Senate and explain how the United States of America fleeing to Okinawa is a good idea.

This is a very positive step indeed. Sadly, like the article says, this resolution will get fillibustered and it will never get a vote which is EXPECTED. This just once again proves the DEMS lack of interest in really ending this war even though they promised. They had their chance and passed on it when they decided to support this war and extend it by voting yes in support of the Iraq war and the funding Bush asked of them. I guess the fact that they are working with Bush and saying yes to whatever he wants is a sour spot with this crowd. I bet this little resolution that will never get a vote will be more then enough to pacify this crowd sadly.

The more debate on the Democrats surrender the better for all Americans Comment by Patrick1

You really should get better talking points. These *Nationalist* ones, just make your entire party look stupid, desperate and foolish. Wait - you *are*!

Now if you mean *failure* in Iraq, funny, that's what the Iraq Study Group said would happen with the current policy, unless we took a different direction. Sounds more like the "Republican Surrender to Failure* is why you don't want to debate!

I don’t think either of these posters, Patrick or Firehead can pass a US Citizenship test.

I'm not sure whether Patrick1 is even a living person. Its comments read like they were generated by a crude computer program. It is totally non-responsive to other comments on the thread, and barely responsive to the thread topic.

Marie sez:

I wonder where they get their cockamamie ideas - if they come to them in dreams, or are they being fed.

Patrick1 regurgitates Rush Limbaugh talking points verbatim, without really understanding what he's saying (let alone why it's wrong)...much like a parrot will mindlessly repeat its master phrases to earn a cracker.

firehead, on the other hand, seems to be a genuinely mentally disturbed individual. His idiocy must be original, as it's improbable that someone impaired enough to come up with similar non-thoughts could convince anyone else to 'feed' them.
