Sponge – I agree the Dems hold the narrowest of margins in the Senate. But considering the “get re-elected mentality of most politicians, should they not jump on board the “out of Iraq” train before it leaves the station? If the American public is as incensed about this war as Progressives claim – is it not political suicide for Senators to oppose an Iraq withdrawal?
The Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, fears the Americans will torpedo his government if his parliament does not pass Iraq’s controversial oil law.
In what could be construed as diplomatic blackmail, American support for the al-Maliki administration is dependent on passage of the Oil Law which essentially gives control of Iraq’s oil wealth to foreign oil companies.
al-Maliki associates said that U.S. officials have told the prime minister that President Bush was committed to the current government but continued White House support depended on positive action on the oil law by the close of this parliamentary session June 30. “Al-Maliki is committed to meeting the deadline because he is convinced he would not survive in power without U.S. support,†one of the associates said.
So Mr al-Maliki is caught is a classic Catch-22. If he wants to survive politically he has to pass an oil law that robs his people of their oil wealth. If he doesn’t pass the oil law, he is out of a job…
We can’t simply leave Iraq folks. We currently have remaining vital national security interests in Iraq. The United States security would be undermined if parts of iraq turned into a Failed state. Failed states turn into a test dish for insurgents and Al Qaeda. Afterall, this place is right in the heart of the oil region. It is also directly in opposition to the interests of Israel to leave Iraq. It is vital that we keep force levels, resources and operations level as it is an essential stabilizing element in Iraq.
The Senate regreted this bill because of these reasons afterall.
Despite the recent US troop surge, neither the Americans nor the Iraqi regime enjoy popular support in Baghdad’s sectarian enclaves.
Iraq is in a state of civil war. The Pentagon has admitted it for the first time with a new report revealing violence in the country has now reached a new high.
Officials say a struggle for power between sectarian groups is now the main feature of the conflict.
The Americans are confident that their massive security crackdown has begun to reduce that violence – at least in Baghdad.
But a closer look at two sectarian strongholds – Sunni Adhamiya and the Shia suburb of Sadr City – shows few signs that the US army and the Iraqi regime have much popular support.
“We can’t simply leave Iraq folks. We currently have remaining vital national security interests in Iraq. The United States security would be undermined if parts of iraq turned into a Failed state. Yeah…… That’s a better way to spend our money….. MORON!!!
#18, except the Democrats that were elected can’t seem to agree on an ‘exit strategy’. Some say immediately, some say not until Sept 08; Hillary says that we should keep a small force in Iraq indefinitely (although not trying to stop any ethnic cleansing).
Honestly folks are you for simply leaving Iraq? We would lose our remaining vital national security interest including the Oil. Furthermore, us leaving would be against the interests of Israel. I personally think it is vital we keep forces in Iraq and keep the resources they need there as well. Our forces in Iraq are the stablizing element afterall. This seems like a solid, logical, and incredible intelligent plan almost everyone would agree with.

We have enough OIL here to sustain us until we can get off it in the next 10 years.
The only reason is because you people want to conque the world and rule like kings…..
Screw Iraq….. They don’t want us there, as many polls have shown. If they did they would have stood up by now. We have given them plenty of opportunity to show us they want to control their own country, and to this day they have not.

Hillary Clinton: “Coalition capabilities, including keeping force levels stable, keeping resources and operations stable, remain an essential stabilizing element in Iraq.â€
So, my guess is you will now go on defense and defend you lovely presidental canidate even though you just went on and on attempting to disagree with me. Folks, my comments were a cut and paste job using Clinton quotes. You just spent the last 30 minutes arguing and disagreeing with me. In reality, you just said those things to Clinton, your Dem leader. Wow this is fun using her words. Ok, lets see the defense and the backstepping.
“What have they done for the US????? What bennefit do they provide that we shape our policies around them???”
Thank you for proving through your posts that the “unselfish, kindly Progressive is a MYTH“…. Your ilk cares more about a kangaroo-rat or squirrel darter than people who were murdered in the Holocaust.
Lets see a country who steals state secrets from their friend while receiving un godly amounts of money in exchange for nothing .Who is building a racist state ,while the rest of the world attempts to look beyond race, on stolen land .
A country that holds such sway over American politics( with a lobby that would be illegal in other countries )while doling out large sums of probably our own money to buy elections in this country buying politicians with such alacrity that they can do no wrong in the eyes of everyone except the rest of the world .
Its like I said about V V yesterday. With friends like that ,who needs enemies! ( but they’ve got that covered for us too )
.And at what point do we stop considering the jews different from everyone else and part of the human race.
An eye for an eye to make the world blind Gahndi
He hurt me ,he beat me, he abused me
live with such thoughts and live in hate
He hurt me he beat me he abused me
renounce such thoughts and live in LOVE Gautama the Buddha
“And at what point do we stop considering the jews different from everyone else and part of the human race.”
Probably when the likes of Louis Farrakhan, Jesse “Hymietown” Jackson, President Ahmidinejead and their ilk die.
I have great empathy for the Lebanese, who have been overrun and out-manuvered by Hezbollah. The faster Hezbollah and Hamas are history – as well as our dependence on foreign oil, the better off we will be.

Roger_Rhetoric is posting this across multiple threads. He thinks it’s the absolute height of cleverness to rephrase Hillary Clinton’s screed as his own, and then laugh and point when we disagree with him.
What Roger_Rhetoric can’s seem to understand (no matter how many times he is told) is that very few of us embrace Hillary’s views. That doesn’t stop him, though…failure to understand has never been a serious impediment to Roger_Rhetoric’s rhetoric.
At this point, anyone who supports Hillary Clinton has to support the Iraq war and keeping thousands of troops in Iraq indefinetly. Does TP support Hillary these days? :)
Whether you want to admit it or not, TP is a very PRO-Hillary site. Hell, when it comes to president canidates, Hillary gets most all the ink. After these quotes from HIllary, I would expect TP to demand Hillary apoligize at once or tell her they will publicly announce they do not support her. Of course hell will freeze over before a website funded by Hillary’s own friends would not support her so the hypocrisy continues. Deny it all you want, but I’ll keep reposting these quotes everytime TP makes another Pro Hillary post just to prove how hyprocritical they are being.
Hillary is wrong. America has survived all these years just fine without being a colonial power in Iraq. Iraq was able to stay out of a civil war for many years without our intervention. If we leave Iraq… and when (not if) but when Al Qeada types come together and make “enclaves” then they have made it possible for us to target them and blow them up without having an occupation on the ground.
Every single time they regroup you bomb them again. And dont say we cant be bombing people in a country if that country has terrorist camps and that country just got the shit kicked out of it by us then I dont see how we would have any reason to hold back our missle armed predator drones.
You guys dont have a better plan. You shot your wad back in 2003 and ever since you have had no plan beyond lets not admit we are incompetent by staying the coarse.
“So, my guess is you will now go on defense and defend you lovely presidental canidate even though you just went on and on attempting to disagree with me. Roger Squared…..
There is no “backstepping” from me….. I still hold my position and as far as I’m concerned Hillary should not become president….. I don’t know what you are trying to prove…… Ohhhhh maybe that I will continue to stand my ground??????
I don’t care if statements like that come from you or from Hillary. I stand by what I said, we need to pull our resources out of this quagmire and focus on our country.
#51 Your probably right. I should try some other threads to. It is just to fun to show the hypocracy of Hillary when TP tries so hard to push Hillary’s agenda alongside an anti war one. I still am amazed this crowd gives them a pass on it.
#52 You are not going to get any argument from me about Hillary. I would guess about 10% (if that) are Hill fans, though. I think you are barking up the wrong tree.
#53 THis is the right tree. TP is the largest HIllary fan in the country. The folks on this site need the real info because TP tries to distort the real HIllary for her gain.

ME: It is vital that we keep force levels, resources and operations level as it is an essential stabilizing element in Iraq.

March 15th, 2007 at 5:47 pm“What have they done for the US????? What bennefit do they provide that we shape our policies around them???”
Thank you for proving through your posts that the “unselfish, kindly Progressive is a MYTH“…. Your ilk cares more about a kangaroo-rat or squirrel darter than people who were murdered in the Holocaust.
March 15th, 2007 at 5:52 pmLets see a country who steals state secrets from their friend while receiving un godly amounts of money in exchange for nothing .Who is building a racist state ,while the rest of the world attempts to look beyond race, on stolen land .
March 15th, 2007 at 6:00 pmA country that holds such sway over American politics( with a lobby that would be illegal in other countries )while doling out large sums of probably our own money to buy elections in this country buying politicians with such alacrity that they can do no wrong in the eyes of everyone except the rest of the world .
Its like I said about V V yesterday. With friends like that ,who needs enemies! ( but they’ve got that covered for us too )
Roger I’m an independent and I will not be voting for hillary .
March 15th, 2007 at 6:01 pm.And at what point do we stop considering the jews different from everyone else and part of the human race.

March 15th, 2007 at 6:20 pmYes – I’m all for leaving Iraq – tomorrow, now, last week.
March 15th, 2007 at 6:21 pm“And at what point do we stop considering the jews different from everyone else and part of the human race.”

March 15th, 2007 at 6:36 pm#40 And yet you support a party that is voting yes to extend the war and give Bush every single penny he asked for. Please explain how that works.
March 15th, 2007 at 6:36 pmAt this point, anyone who supports Hillary Clinton has to support the Iraq war and keeping thousands of troops in Iraq indefinetly. Does TP support Hillary these days? :)
March 15th, 2007 at 6:37 pmTripmaster,
Whether you want to admit it or not, TP is a very PRO-Hillary site.

Now what’s next, cow tippin?
March 15th, 2007 at 7:27 pmRepublican = obstructionist.

March 15th, 2007 at 8:42 pmWow, this thread is full of trolls. They are avoiding the ones where Republicans are getting their asses whipped. Pussies.
March 15th, 2007 at 11:01 pm#51 Your probably right. I should try some other threads to. It is just to fun to show the hypocracy of Hillary when TP tries so hard to push Hillary’s agenda alongside an anti war one. I still am amazed this crowd gives them a pass on it.
March 15th, 2007 at 11:14 pm#52 You are not going to get any argument from me about Hillary. I would guess about 10% (if that) are Hill fans, though. I think you are barking up the wrong tree.
March 15th, 2007 at 11:20 pm#53 THis is the right tree. TP is the largest HIllary fan in the country. The folks on this site need the real info because TP tries to distort the real HIllary for her gain.
