Since you are so smart, maybe you can tell us why the provision in the Patriot Act exists that allows the administration to bypass the Senate for approval of new US A’s. What does this have to do with national security? Your girlfriend Jake chose to ignore that question when I asked him earlier; are you going to, too?

You could look up the names of all those who died in the 9/11 attacks. But since you are too lazy to do so (though you seem to have lots of time to post what is mostly drivel), yes, Jews died in the WTC, as well as on the hijacked planes, and the Pentagon. Some Muslims (other than the terrorists) also died in the 9/11 attacks; one of them, in fact, was a friend of a friend who was about eight months pregnant at the time. What are trying to prove with such an idiotic question?

Unless that firing is an act of obstruction of justice, in which case a crime is committed. So while you’re justifying firing *republican-appointed-attorneys* because they investigate your Republican Corruption – all you can do is whine that your *GOP-hacks* aren’t going after democratic corruption?

Jay, Bush isn’t in this alone, (nor is Cheney) and getting these individuals out of power isn’t quite enough. Anymore than getting Nixon and some of his cronies out of power was ever enough. Cheney may be considered the “man behind the curtain,” but there is another power, a group of people, a mind-set..that stands behind people like Cheney. Because, ultimately, Bush and Cheney (like Nixon before them) are expendable, politically. And, if not prosecuted, they will come back as “senior” statesmen or spokesmen, or influential in government and/or business in another way. In the meantime, they are easily enough substituted for with other “fronts.” Unless we can truly reclaim our democracy, this will be endlessly repeated by future administrations. And the only way to begin to redeem the form of government we believe in as Americans is to convict and punish those who betray our Constitutional values and laws for what they are…traitors.

It doesn’t take a lawyer to know that Bush and the Republican Party can and will pervert any language to suit their ends.

Referring to a President’s Constitutional authority to adjourn Congress. Bris is completely correct here. This adminstration and their allies DO NOT Support, Defend and Protect the Constitution. They WILL interpret it, as they have, to defend a dictatorship…but they call it the “Unitary Executive.”

Bush Junior would basically be told that if he resigned, then no prosecution of his crimes would take place, and for the good of the nation he would be exiled to Paraguay. Bush Senior and the rest of the Bush clan would be deported to Paraguay for their own protection. Cheney would be given the same deal and flown into exile somewhere. Condi Rice and the other cabinet members would be given immunity from prosecution, if they agreed to leave the US. It’s time for the Bush Regime to be ended!

Jay, I usually agree with most of what you write, but on this one, I have to strongly disagree. I do not believe these people should be allowed to escape either impeachment or criminal prosecution. They are war criminals who have caused the death and disablement of thousands of both Americans and Iraqis. Unless, and until, a President and Vice President is impeached, convicted and then tried for such egregious decisions and behavior, it will only encourage future adminstrations to do the same thing. Which is exactly what happened with the “deal” made with Nixon.

But stonewalling completely legitimate subpoenas on the grounds of executive privilege would make Shrub look even MORE like Nixon, and would quickly escalate into the kind of showboating confrontation that the media could gin up into a “constitutional crisis.” or at least a cage match between a Democratic Congress and a weakened, embattled president.

Shrub needs this like he needs another big, gaping hole inside his skull. Sooner or later — and probably sooner — Rove will manuever him into accepting that Abu G is toast.

This is why…it’s called the U.S. Constitution. Article 2, Section 2. Perhaps if you would familiarize yourself with it, you wouldn’t be defending this administration.
