FDA restores funding to Office of Women’s Health.

Under pressure from women’s health advocates and lawmakers, the Food and Drug Administration has decided to fully fund the agency’s Office of Women’s Health. Last month, reports indicated that the FDA had “quietly removed” one-quarter of this year’s $4 million operating budget. Women’s health advocates believed it was “a long-anticipated payback for the trouble the office stirred during the prolonged debate over nonprescription sales of Plan B.”

I’m sure you recognize a joke after 75 years on this planet, right Jake?

You also know that pregnancy is prevented by Plan B, not aborted.

The unborn are not tiny babies, they are zygote or fetus.

    Death Toll Hits ‘Million’
    Updated: 16:38, Sunday March 18, 2007
The number of deaths in Iraq since the start of the conflict could be as high as one million, according to a new estimate.

An Australian scientist published the figure using four sets of independent data, including information from the United Nations Children’s Fund and the UN’s population division, as well as medical literature.

Dr Gideon Polya’s figure is far higher than the previous biggest estimate of 655,000.

“Using the most comprehensive and authoritative literature, and UN demographic data yields an estimate of one million post-invasion excess deaths in Iraq,” he said.

A spokesman for the Stop The War Coalition said the figure was “astonishing”.

He added: “Four years after the start of the conflict in Iraq we can now see what a disaster the war has been.

“Everything that the Stop The War movement predicted would happen has taken place – but it has been far worse than we feared.”

Lee Harvey Oswald “joked” about killing JFK too. But, sticking to the thread topic, and using your terms then, is it possible for a fertilized zygote to NOT implant because of a Plan B / Levonorgestrel treatment? If it is, then it can be called an abortion.

    Mary Poplins:

The State of California “cared” when Scott Peterson killed his wife, Laci, and their unborn son, Connor. Or, do you think THAT was o.k. because I was not the one having that baby either? Whether you like it or not, murder IS society’s business.

That’s the “Plan B,” Jake. Emergency contraception at it’s finest.

Jake, is it possible for a fertilized zygote to NOT implant because of completely natural reasons?

If it is, then it can be called an abortion.
    Comment by Jake

Well Jake, you can call it a birthday party, too, but it doesn’t make it so.

  18. Jake says:

    Mistress Z:

Of course it is possible for a fertilized zygote to NOT implant because of completely natural reasons — even what you would consider “real” people die every day from accidents or natural causes — my question was about affirmatively poisoning someone.

  19. Mary Poplins says:

    # 14 Jake old boy I was not talking about Laci I was talking about Plan B. That is not an abortion. You do not know what you are talking about. I do not believe in murder. The decision should be between a man and woman not you or the government. You as I said should mine your own business.

I think we should bring our troops home because Old Bush sent our military into an illegal war that is murder.

Why aren’t you over in a Iraq fighting?

  20. Mistress Z says:

…my question was about affirmatively poisoning someone.
    Comment by Jake

Poisoning whom, Jake? If the cells have not implanted themselves in the wall of the uterus, it is not a pregnancy yet. Plan B simply assures the implantation will not occur. No harm, no foul.

Jake, don’t you think enough unwanted children come into the world? Have you ever seen pictures of a child beaten to death by a parent or parents who didn’t want it? I have.

Another thing, Jake. Either before or after it was legal, did you ever pay for a girlfriend, or any female, to have an abortion?

  21. dixie blood says:

    Hey JakeA$$,

Doesn’t your god abort millions of fetuses and blastocyst everyday through miscarriage? Your GOD is an ABORTIONIST!!!

  23. dlet says:

    Mistress Z,
I am sure Jake has a house full of adopted children from unwanted pregnancies and I am sure his “wife” has saved frozen zygotes left over from fertility clinics. I am sure he stands on moral high ground. I can read it in his comments.

The only thing I am trying to figure out is when Jake was given the right to create a new dictionary and change definitions at whim. Like abortion. That’s pretty cool.

  24. Jake says:

    Mary Poplins:

I served my tour of duty, already. There are plenty of other threads here we can discuss Iraq if you wish. This one is about the intentional and unjustified killing of unborn children — that includes Connor Peterson (at least it did according to the State of California).

    Mistress Z:

Poisoning the zygote. We will have to agree to disagree on the definition of pregnancy too — medical texts in my days ALL taught it was at FERTILIZATION — if I pump poison gas into the plane you are flying in, does it matter whether you could have simply landed but didn’t before you died? That’s what I think of your “it’s OK as long as it doesn’t implant” argument. Location, location, location. I am glad you at least admit Plan B assures the implantation will not occur — plenty of por-choice people won’t even admit that ; )

As for whether enough “unwanted” children come into the world, unwanted by whom? Their parents or society? Of course some parents do horrible things to their children — that doesn’t justify killing them in utero to “save” them. You surely aren’t advocating Andrea Yates had the right to murder her “real” children just because she mistakenly thought she was saving them from the Devil, do you? Also, I have never paid for any female to have an abortion — does that mean I can’t discuss this issue because I am only a man?

  25. Mistress Z says:

    R,

I have to differ with you on that one, R. Repubs only respect life until it’s born, and they respect it even less when it turns 18.

Poison gas in an airplane — lame-assed argument, Jake. That’s what I think.

I tell ya, Jake, I don’t care if the cells have implanted or not, if a woman wants an abortion, that’s her business.

  48. EvilPoet says:

    Here’s a joke…

God’s gifts for Adam and Eve

Seems God was just about done creating the universe and had a couple of things left over in his bag of creations, so he stopped by to visit Adam and Eve in the Garden.

He told the couple that one of the things he had to give away was the ability to stand up and pee. “It’s a very handy thing,” God told the couple who he found hanging around under an apple tree. “I was wondering if either one of you wanted that ability.”

Adam popped a cork. Jumped up and begged, “Oh, give that to me! I’d love to be able to do that! It seems the sort of thing a Man should do. Oh please, oh please, oh please, let me have that ability. It’d be so great! When I’m working in the garden or naming the animals, I could just let it flow, I’d be so cool. Oh please God let it be me who you give that gift to, let me stand and pee, oh please … ” On and on he went like an excited little boy (who had to pee).

Eve just smiled and shook her head at the display. She told God that if Adam really wanted it so badly, and it sure seemed to be the sort of thing that would make him happy, she really wouldn’t mind if Adam were the one given the ability to stand up and pee. And so it was.

And it was … well, good.

“Fine,” God said, looking back into his bag of left-over gifts. “So what’s left in here anyway? Oh yes, multiple orgasms …”

“We’ve done more in this war than ever before to keep collateral damage to a minimum.” — Jake

We demolished all the water treatment and electrical power generation in Iraq within the first go-round and then proceeded to oversee the murder and torture of countless professionals — doctors, engineers, teachers and administrators — simply because they were members of the Baathist party, and now you have the gall to say that we attempted to minimize collateral damage?

Jake, is there no end to your self-deception? Have you no interest whatsosever in defending your own self-respect?

I’d like to see a link from a reputable medical site that shows the statistics of exactly how often that happens.

Maybe someone can ask Jake for that.

I am bringing up a little incident to use as a refrence and learning thought for the troll jake…Not that I think it will do any good but it’s a thought and does work for a rational mind….jesus I forgot for a minute that troll’s don’t have rational thought.Oh well…

I went to Freddies and got in on a few sales the other day….I alway’s like to mess with the cashier’s while they are in tired mode to wake them up…LOL.. At the end of the transaction the girl said to me ” you have saved $26.75, today…I laughed and said to her, yes but I would have saved $78.23 if I had stayed home…..Both of us laughed..

The reason for this little example is both simple and rational, jake’s quote” We’ve done more in this war than ever before to keep collateral damage to a minimum”….Now jake think what we would have accomplished if we had looked for Benlauden only and stayed home where we belong.. If it is at all posible for you to wrap your over inflated mind around this think how much better our country and the world would be if bush had never taken the thrown….After all this I say to you, you are insane as bush and a lier, you back a murderer who infact did pay for an abortion and who has killed a million people….You sicken me…You are a disgusting black hearted little troll just like R2…Be gone

I voted for a president who would not have left all those people there, who would have worked harder to evacuate, and at the very least would have turned on the f#cking television and seen the hell those poor people were living through.

You believe in a guy who thinks government should only work for him and his cronies and that “armies of compassion” should take care of everything else.

And did you or did you not go to medical school?

Do you have any idea how seldom this happens. And when it does it is in the rare instances that the fetusis so disabled that if it is born live it will only live a very short time and suffer or that the mother will not survive if she continues carrying the fetus. Why would somebody who want to terminate a pregnancy wait to have that kind of abortion.
And natural causes or not, spontaneous aborting a fetus is abortion. So your god must be an abortionist. If he isn’t why doesn’t he insure that every fertilized egg is implanted and carried to term.
As a woman who underwent 10 years of infertility treatment and many disappointments along the way I can’t believe you have the nerve to even involve yourself in these discussions.

Isn’t it amazing that two women who have gone through infertility treatment (you-10 years, and me 5-years), and know what it’s like to really want a child, but we are able respect the right of others to choose? When are these wingnuts going to learn to mind their own business?

Thank GOD! It was completely unfair that the Office for Men’s Health was getting so much more funding them the Women’s office. I mean, how could the Bushie’s not see that people would see the injustice in this? It became very obvious they were backing men and not women when they attempted to cut funding for the women. I hope this clears the story. Thankfully TP and others were on top of it. It was unfair that men were receiving a bigger entitlement then women. I am assuming both Men and Women are now getting equal funding. Right?
