#73 How you fail to read my posts and understand them is beyond me. I have no problem with this research. I was simply stating that is should be done, LIKE IT ALREADY IS, by the private sector. We should certainly allow the private sector access to an unused embryos from fert. clinics. Again, we are then talking about 2 private companies doing a private business transaction. Why does this crowd have a problem with the research being done this way? Private industry already invests billions more then the government ever planned to. Allowing private industry to do this research eliminates this whole debate. This research is looked at as murder by some (NOT ME). Since we have a valid solution that would allow for these people to not be forced into paying for it, we should go that route. I still have yet to see a valid arguement showing how it is vital we force people to pay for it when we don't have to. Are there any posters left on this post that have anything valuable to add. Maybe I am overlooking something here. Posts like #73 should be deleted as they add nothing and make #73 looks foolish.

RR,
Do a service to mankind, donate all your cellls to the project - they can sort out the adult ones as soon as they come to maturity. In the mean time, research can be done on whether Pablum leads to kidney failure - save our cats and dogs - they are certainly higher on the evolutionary ladder then RR.

#68 Stem cell research isn't done by some individual scientist for fun. The private sector would love to find new cures and medications derived from this research as we are talking big money here. Phizer and many others are already investing much more then the government has ever proposed for it. You don't think stem cell research is currently not happening in the private sector, do you? THe government, even if it added many millions to its current research, wouldn't even scratch 1% of the investment already being made by private companies. This is the reason it is completely wrong for the government to step in. We already have a great source for this research which won't force anyone to pay for it.

Lastly, what does NASA have to do with this? No one is morally against NASA as no one believes NASA's research is killing children. I never talked about the bible at all either as it isn't part of the discussion. I talked about people's moral beliefs which is much different.

I hope I am aruging this with a sane person. You sound a little out there as you aren't even making sense. Nasa has nothing to do with Stem Cell research. One people are morally against and it can be done by the private sector. The other one morals don't apply and can't be done at that level from the private sector.

oh yeah, i forgot how scientists are all loaded and can do whatever research they want.

It's called a grant.

Also, why are "we" funding NASA? It doesn't say anywhere in the bible about space exploration and other worlds. does it? That goes against the Bible, right?

While we get pushed around by the religious right, America will continue to fall back into the stone ages. i think that is what the r.r. want.

Exactly what i would expect from a liberal - abortion is wrong! Stem cells are as bad as abortion! If god wanted us born with that knowledge he would have created us that way. Dems are just playing god.

what?!? who are you to assume what "god" had in mind in the first place? He "gave " us the intelligence of science- for the betterment of mankind... according to your book.
I don't know why I waste my time writing these rebuttals- these trolls are such douche b@gs... And paid by the GOP to aggitate and create the illusion of agreeance with their warped biblical views that they want to spread across our country.

#63 Please study a bit sir. Your Dems are the ones that just extended this war. Your dems are the ones that just approved over $100 billion to support Iraq. These are votes they could have said no to and ended this war. I understand that they go on TV and proclaim how against this war they are, but their votes speak much differently. Furthermore, the contractors in Iraq are only there because of our government. They still have no authority, nor should they ever, to wage war based on their own decision. Stem cell research is very different. the Private sector has the authority to do the research when and how they want. This is the huge difference between to the. There is no link at all.

Again, I would personally fight very hard against government if they tried to pass a law banning private companies from this type of research as it is very important medically. I am equally against the government forcing this stuff on Americans when they don't need to. What is the point when many Americans feel that it murders children? The answer is there is no point when we have a perfectly good substitute in the private sector.

Somebody tell this clown there are other problems in the NIH too, like Lyme Disease patients getting their care cut off regardless of whether or not they are well at the 60 day mark. People, Lyme is a spirochete and it looks like Tuskegee part two is being allowed as well these days

#60 - Spudge_Boy,
Good call, you beat me to it. You forgot to mention that virtually all of the money that is funneled to Blackwater is Out-budget = Illegal spending.

#50 There is a major difference there actually. Stem Cell Research is something we can simply allow the private sector to do meaning those that want a part of it can and those that don’t can choose not to. Military functions are different because the private sector cannot take over the war in Iraq which is part of our military. When you want that to stop, vote for someone who will stop it. I bet you are upset the Dems lied and now support the war?

Roger, are you actually THAT naive? Have you been paying attention AT ALL?? Do you know how many contractors are in Iraq at this very moment? Upwards of 100,000. Two-thirds as much as our actual # of soldiers performing activities that until the Neo-Nazis came along were performed by the American military. The private sector has ALREADY taken over most logistic functions of this war, including the un-metered theft of millions of $$$$ each day of Iraqi oil. All with no oversight or consequences. Your argument holds no validity. Additionally, no Democrat I know of (other than Lieberman, who is an "Independant") SUPPORTS this war. Each and every Democrat in congress supports ending this disaster. THAT'S supporting the troops - getting them out of your "hero's" meat-grinder. Perhaps if you opened your mind once in awile, instead of your bible, you would come to the same "Christian" conclusion.

Exactly what i would expect from a liberal - abortion is wrong! Stem cells are as bad as abortion! If god wanted us born with that knowledge he would have created us that way. Dems are just playing god.Comment by Jamie Kinstle Wapakoneta OH — March 20, 2007 @ 4:05 pm

It's you that wants to decide who can *live* or *die*, murdering GOP Nazi fecal matter. Abortion is about a woman's right to decide what to do with her *OWN* body, and not some st*pid jack*ass like you to play god with it! Why must you CONs all have your heads stuck so far up your own *sses anyway. It makes everything you say, smell like sh*t!
