Prayers For Elizabeth
I was saddened to hear today that Elizabeth Edwards’s battle with cancer is not yet over. But I was not surprised to hear that she and John will continue their efforts to stand up for their beliefs and vision for the country.
Elizabeth is truly a remarkable, dynamic and courageous woman. From her life story, we know that, above all, she is a survivor and a person of deep moral conviction.
Her grace and strength through this battle will continue to serve as an inspiration to us all.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Edwards family.

Before this news, John Edwards was my front runner. And now I am convinced that John must become our next President. He is qualified as no other. He has been tested like no other candidate and he is dedicated as no other to doing what is right for our country and our future.

They dont care what is right or wrong. Decent or indecent is immaterial. Legal or illegal is just an impediment. All they care about is winning. We the people spoke last November that we are fed up with that sort of mentality. Unfortunately there remain some (at least 4 trolls who hang out here) who missed that message.
Jake et al. will continue their drivel and baiting because that is what they are paid to do. Asking any of them to be civil is like trying to talk molecular biology to a sea urchin.
We can ask all we want. They have their own contorted view of reality and aren’t going to listen to a thing any sane, caring person says. Remember…all they care about is winning. It will likely take a tragedy similar to what you experienced (and I did with my dad and cancer) and what the Edwards family is experiencing for the Jakes of the world to show some humility. Of course that requires a conscience. Maybe they wont.

I think it is a pretty relevant question, considering every other thread is devoted to it and especially given Mr. Podesta’s prior position with the Clinton Administration — my follow-up question would be if he was ever forced to testify before Congress, would he divulge confidential advice he gave to Clinton?
I’m sorry it came up on this thread (the 3rd or 4th so far on Mrs. Edwards), but the last time Mr. Podesta posted here himself was April 19, 2006, so I don’t think I will get the chance to ask the questions any other time.

Last year when I seriously considered the list of Democratic presidential contenders, John Edwards moved to the top of that list. Partly because I approved of his repudiation of his AUMF vote, partly because of his concern for impoverished Americans, but chiefly because he has Elizabeth Edwards in his corner. She convinced me during the 2004 presidential campaign that she has the candour, integrity, and compassion to help move this country in the right direction. Elizabeth Edwards is a uniquely graceful, beautiful, intelligent, ethical, caring lady. She would be such a wonderful First Lady, and I sincerely hope and pray that she is standing next to John when he takes the Oath of Office in January 2009. Fight on, Elizabeth! Be not discouraged or afraid! We, your friends, are supporting you, pulling for you, and praying for you.

Also, it seems that we have a political sharing system; hence what I mean is whatever happens for you seems to happen for us not too long after. Classic example: Bush was elected (I’m not going to touch that one) and then we in turn elect Bush-Lite, a.k.a. Stephen Harper.

I lost my own mother in 1996 to this horrible disease. 2 years after her diagnosis she was given 6-9 months to live. She told the doctor that she wasn’t done living yet and to prove it lived another 11 years. In the end it really wasn’t the cancer that took her but from all the years of chemo it ruined her immune system and took away her body’s ability to produce platelets causing a massive kidney infection and extensive bleeding in the brain. She always said that she didn’t know if the cancer or the cure was the worst but she did know there would never be a cure b/c the drug companies make too much money.

March 22nd, 2007 at 3:34 pmOnce I had a friend who had cancer when she was 18, fought it and won it. The cancer appeared again when she was 21 and she had no desire of passing through the same again. Her matrix was already gone by then but the cancer had spread. Last time I heard from her she was in the beaches of Oaxaca.
Last time I heard of her, her brother sent me an email telling me she had passed away and sent me some stuff that was intended for me. She wrote a whole notebook with thoughts and desires. I always regret not saying her goodbye. Folks, enjoy every meeting, friend, pain, sadness and laughters as if these were the last ones.
Mrs. Edwards, keep on fighting. There is no defeat in giving oneself´s best.

Of the 2 America’s he speaks of, it is lucky they live in the insanely rich America so they get the care most American’s only dream of. I hope Jon won’t have to sell his $6 million home due to this. I am sure it would be hard for them to live in the “other America” after living most their lives as one of the richest American to serve in the Senate. Check ou these pics of their estate. It is stunning to say the least. They even have 106 acres for their children to run around on. I forgot again, was his message something about all of us living in the America where we all own $6 million estates? Or was it about how the rich shouldn’t horde their money living in multi million dollar estates effectively living in a different America then the rest of US? I honestly have no problem with it. today, most all of our Senators are the same way. They believe the rules are different for them. While normal Americans should focus on money equality and being against the rich, Being insanely rich and blowing it on 28,000 square foot houses is ok for Edwards because he is “different”. Gore is very much the same way. he proposes stiff regulations and tells the average American to downsize their lives with smaller cars, less travel, etc. Gore himself is above that and is once again “different”. The repugs are no different. Bush believes in the law for normal folks but he is “different” and the law doesn’t apply to him like the rest of us. In this case, Edward’s hypocrisy is a good thing for his wife. She will get the same level of care the Saudi Royal family receives and us normal Americans only dream of.
I am for the free Market so I salute Edwards in this regard. I have no problem knowing he is rich and is allowed better treatment then me. This is a capitalist free market at its best and his wife’s level of care and life span will be greatly improved because of it.
Lastly, don’t even try to say politics is off limits. You folks do this stuff all the time. Your party calls the Iraq war illegal and wrong and says it is murdering Americans troops. They then decide that they need to support the war and its funding because it is a smart move politically. So they make a political decision even though they believe it is murdering people. My political comment didn’t kill anyone while they are now supporting what they used to call murder. Furthermore, all you folks are still defending them also making you part of this. How you get upset about my political comment when your party is murdering troops for political gain is laughable.

Sensing a pattern? So far, my sisters and I are cancer-free.
Ladies, please get your mammograms every year. It’s inconvenient and it hurts like hell, but having breast cancer or dying of it is WAY more inconvenient and painful.
And if you get that mammogram, and you find out you have breast cancer — fight like f*cking hell.

I’m very sad that Elizabeth has bone cancer, but very hopeful. A dear friend also had breast cancer and then many years later she, too, was diagnosed with bone cancer. She was told the same thing — some people live a long time with treatment. My friend was not dying with cancer. She lived with it for years.
My wish is for not only many years of having Elizabeth with us, but may 8 of those years be in the White House.

Edwards was my choice in the ‘04 primary and I was glad when he threw his hat in the ring for ‘08. This morning I was disappointed at the thought he might suspend or drop out, even though I knew it would be for the right reasons. I’m glad the cancer is less serious than it could be.
Elizabeth Edwards is such a strong wonderful woman, and she would be an asset to our country as First Lady. I send her positive healing thoughts.
