WSJ notes a new scale, created by blogger Lou Grinzo, that measures how delusional or detached from reality a person is. A 100 on the Inhofe Scale, Grinzo says, is commensurate with the sort of willful delusion he says is contained in Inhofe’s “greatest hoax” speech. “Just to be clear, this is a measurement of detachment from widely accepted reality, not a measure of how much the speaker disagrees with me,” Grinzo writes.
UPDATE: Al Gore shares his thoughts on his hearings yesterday on his blog.
UPDATE II: Inhofe even loses National Review’s John Podhoretz.

Too late,
jake already broke the scale.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:21 pmOh the wonder, oh the joy,
I was here before Joke-boy!
As they on Fdl - Fitz!
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:22 pmWell, if we somehow stopped ALL man-made CO2 gases and there was STILL global warming, wouldn’t you agree it would have been the greatest hoax of all time?
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:24 pmI am sure Jake will get a 1000 on a scale of 1 to 100.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:24 pmbob (not the hacker):

March 22nd, 2007 at 8:28 pmlet’s find out!
Well, if we somehow stopped ALL man-made CO2 gases and there was STILL global warming, wouldn’t you agree it would have been the greatest hoax of all time?
Comment by Jake
Not as big a hoax as the last two presidential elections, my friend.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:29 pmJust say Barbara Boxer name to Inhofe and that’s enough. How embarrassing to be cut down in public with millions of people watching and then to have all the blog sites and the news media report it. She was right and he knew it. Pay back isn’t so nice but for the GOP they gave it out alot.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:30 pmA 100 on the Inhofe Scale, Grinzo says, is commensurate with the sort of willful delusion he says is contained in Inhofe’s “greatest hoax†speech.
So, let’s see, we know Duhbya, Darth, Condesleeza, Dumsfeld, Snowjob, and every Republican in the 109th Congress gets a 100! Who else am I missing fellow truthseekers?
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:32 pmHeh heh..
It’s a thread made just for Jake. ^_^
Thanks, TP!
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:33 pmCONservative:
Do you realize what it would take to stop ALL man-made CO2 gases?! And if global warming STILL happened (basically proving that made-made causes were not a factor), no, my friend. It would indeed be the greatest hoax of all time.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:34 pmHey, Inhofe! You don’t make the rules anymore!
It is difficult to know how much of this is delusional and how much is disingenuous. His oil company puppet masters are all terrified that someone is going to make them actually fork out some money to deal with the problems created by their own avarice–in other words, to start acting like good citizens of the planet rather than selfish pigs.
He might just be a lunatic, or it might be his shtick so the puppet masters know he’s realllly trying.
I loved the Boxer smackdown!
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:34 pmJake, nobody gives a flying fu*k about your list.
Here’s an idea, put us all on your stupid fu*king list and leave.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:34 pmDoes Diebold make a delusional scale?
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:34 pm“I loved the Boxer smackdown!”
Yeah, that was a great moment in modern political history. When she showed him the gavel it was so symbolic. It represented not only Inhofe’s personal castration, but the castration of his entire party. The elephant is now a eunuch!
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:44 pmWell, if we somehow stopped ALL man-made CO2 gases and there was STILL global warming, wouldn’t you agree it would have been the greatest hoax of all time?

March 22nd, 2007 at 8:45 pmDoes Diebold make a delusional scale?
No, they just fix voting machines to give us delusional presidents.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:45 pmJake, your comment is the definition of willful delusion - you must be VERY happy - gratz.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:50 pmJean Schmidt gets a 100 for her screed claiming the Walter Reed scandal is overblown.

Yes, I said “IF” — it’s a hypothetical scenario — just like whether the primary cause for global warming is man-made.

No one has proven that Diebold did anything illegal to their voting machines, let alone whether Bush is delusional (which other President were you referring to?).

Suudge Boy, NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! you don’t want to be on jake’s list!?!?!? really. it is sooooo horrible! once you’re on the list you can’t come back. being on the list is like not being in the band clique or the AV ciique!!!! really! jake is so cool! and he’s smart, and and funny and, and, gosh do I say it? ok, he’s DREAMY!

Jean Schmidt is the new top of my old “Mookie Wilson Ugly Scale.”
Now it’s the “Jean Schmidt Ugly Scale.”
I doubt she’ll be topped…..ew.
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:12 pmWe have a modified scale here at ThinkProgress. It’s called the Inhofe-Jake Scale; Inhofe only scores 90 on it. Jake scores the full 100.
For example, the statement “if we somehow stopped ALL man-made CO2 gases and […]” already ranks higher than the “greatest hoax” speech, all by itself.
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:14 pmShort Jake:
If the level of CO2 increases, and there is no one to measure it -does it still count as an increase?
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:16 pmJake sez:
Some allegations wind up proving themselves.
Direct quote from Herr Chimpy:
So…are you seriously maintaining that “God” talks to Chimpy and tells him to do stuff?
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:17 pmGregor Samsa sez:
I think that once you make up an “ignore list” (with all the attendant fanfare), and then proceed to add posters who have a habit of making a fool of you to “The List â„¢” and pretend they don’t exist, you’ve officially exceeded 100.
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:22 pmIf the US invaded a country under the pretext of ridding it of WMD, and no such WMD were ever found -wouldn’t you agree that would have been one of the greatest hoaxes of all times?
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:26 pmComment by TripMaster Monkey — March 22, 2007 @ 9:22 pm
It’s a logarithmic scale. 100 might seem easy to attain, but only the very special can actually reach with sheer lunacy ;-)
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:29 pm-would be funny to score each one of Jake’s comments on the “scale”-
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:30 pmYes god talks to chimpy, but couldn’t help him out of….

Ummmm, and if we stopped the man-made CO2 gases and global warming stopped? Wouldn’t you agree that it would be the greatest life saver of all time?
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:33 pmIf the US invaded a country under the pretext of ridding it of WMD, and no such WMD were ever found -wouldn’t you agree that would have been one of the greatest hoaxes of all times?

Ding Ding Ding - I believe we have a winner here.
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:36 pmSorry Jake, you lose.
jake, you have no reason to worry about global warming. You’re old and about to die. But the young people care. They have to live on this planet. That’s why they don’t want old people making decisions of the future.
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:38 pmSue:
Do you have a question for me?
paland:
I would not agree with that, because to do so would probably result in the death of 99% of human like on the planet. That cure would be worse than the disease.
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:40 pmIf we stopped all the methane gas coming out of Jake’s shit for brains mouth and then matched that with carbon credits for all livestock in the United States…well it probably wouldn’t help global warming…but at least we’d get Jake to shut the f#ck up.
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:40 pmP.S. young-un — sorry, but “old people” disproportionately vote more and therefore do make the decisions more than “young people” do — also, regardless of when I die, I still know plenty of people who I want to continue on in a healthy manner, including you : )
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:42 pmJake?? What would 99% of the people die from? Too much oxygen? Remember that the planet has had a consistent level of CO2 until the last 150 years and especially the last 50 years. So why would all these people die? Too much clean air?
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:45 pmJake sez:
Just remember, Sue…don’t make your questions too challenging, or else you might find yourself added to The List â„¢.

Aside from being “criminally negligent” and showing electoral staff how to “rig” the machines so they could “prevent” it from happening? Yeah right. And no one has shown you aren’t delusional, or an idiot.
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:50 pmI would not agree with that, because to do so would probably result in the death of 99% of human like on the planet. That cure would be worse than the disease. Comment by Jake — March 22, 2007 @ 9:40 pm
Were you referring to the impact of Global warming, or your incompetence in dealing with it that will kill 99% of the planet?
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:51 pmpaland:
Remember I said a ZERO level of man-made CO2 — my guess would be that most would die from mass starvation, if not the world-wide riot first.

That’s what we call a *professional-victim* Jake! You’re such a *wuss*!
March 22nd, 2007 at 9:59 pmFOR THE GLOBAL WARMING DENIERS……………….
OK……… FACT— The vast majority of the global scientific community agrees that global warming is real and that man is greatly exacerbating the problem.
You might think that this is all some vast conspiracy and that they are all lying or something….
But, I ask you— what “sinister” ulterior motive do scientists, individuals, etc. have that say “global warming” is REAL?
Please……. entertain me with your guesses.
NOW……. I ask you— what “sinister” motive might corporate America have to say “global warming” is NOT REAL?
Could it be that responsible environmental policies might cost them MONEY, and THAT is why they constantly deny the existence of the global warming phenomenon— even though almost ALL of the global scientific community says that global warming is REAL?
Think about it……….
March 22nd, 2007 at 10:04 pmJake, you do know that we are at Peak Oil right now, right?
If man does not put his resources to alternative energy systems to feed all these people, then he will have a great die off. Food can be made without so much CO2. In fact, I think they should think of building CO2 to O2 converter plants right now. We need to solve global warming, not ignore it!
March 22nd, 2007 at 10:05 pmIn West Palm Beach FLorida we have been living with CONSTANT wind since Hurricane Wilma went through in October of 2005. I don’t mean a breeze. I mean wind, anywhere from 10-15mph to 20-25mph EVERYDAY. Prior to around that time we NEVER had wind like this. Just didn’t happen on such a basis.
I am here to say that I am not a scientist and I am still trying to research enough about the formation of wind and the ocean temperature etc but living in the Gulfstream and having this wind be so continous as it has been I believe that we are experiencing the first signals of a turning point in our climate.
Weather patterns are signals. This is real and it has been apparent for at least a year plus now. Tonight the wind is blowing hard and has been for three consecutive days in the 20mph plus range. It will fall back to 10-15 but it will not be quiet.
I know there are some who will question the legitimacy of such an observation but I don’t live in a bubble and I am saying that living IN the Gulfstream we are feeling more extreme effects of the ocean and land temperatures and if wind is the combo of the two, things are not looking good.
March 22nd, 2007 at 10:06 pmVVGFU, you are so on The List â„¢.

March 22nd, 2007 at 10:07 pmMy mouth simply dropped open as I watched Inhofe’s childish and churlish behavior the other day when President-elect Gore was testifying in front of the Senate the other day. It was not only childish and snarky, it was very crude and rude. Mr. Gore handled it very well, and I totally loved the way Senator Boxer bitch-slapped him.
This fool, Inhofe, doesn’t have the mental maturity to be representing anyone in any capacity whatsoever.

Jake want us to PROVE everything we say while at the same time he spews out his uninformed opinion on anything he wants acting like he’s an expert.
He doesn’t believe in global warming, he should have to prove it doesn’t exist and isn’t manmade before anybody dignifies any of his comments about it or his lame theories about remedies causing starvation.
March 22nd, 2007 at 10:24 pm#3 Jake:
Well, if we somehow stopped ALL man-made CO2 gases and there was STILL global warming, wouldn’t you agree it would have been the greatest hoax of all time?
No. No one says that all warming is anthropogenic. The questions is whether the anthropogenic component (which is pretty much undisputed) will cause us damage that would not occurif there was no more (or less) anthropogenic warming.
HTH.
Cheers,

You do know humans breathe out CO2 don’t you. Oxygen in CO2 out. So to stop all man made CO2 we’d all have to be dead. So as usual you gave a supposition that means nothing.
March 22nd, 2007 at 10:50 pmInhofe, Inhofe is a GODDAMNED FOOL

If we could get together on freezing him out, he’d be gone fairly quickly. He thrives on the attention — negative or positive — he doesn’t care which.

March 22nd, 2007 at 11:17 pmI have lost all interest in considering the likes of creatures such as Inhofe and others like him as viable contenders for members of the human race. Cockroaches that skuttle scross the floor are more valuable life forms than they and have more to offer to the world.
March 22nd, 2007 at 11:20 pmFreezing him out works for me. Thanks Zooey. Hopefully we can get more people on board.
March 22nd, 2007 at 11:23 pmGood for National Review’s John Podhoretz. One must admire his intellectual honesty.
One can only hope a Democrat or “progressive” will be similarly critical when one of their own acts as boorishly as did Inhofe.

March 23rd, 2007 at 11:55 amSen. Inbred is an imbecile. He confuses specific weather with climate. Climate is a trend; specific weather is just a point in time on a historical trend. Inbred said that in the past three years, the winters had been rather rigorous in Oklahoma, implying that global warming is a “hoax”. In the statistics-impaired world of Inbred, three data points constitute a trend…
If stupidity were measurable, Inbred would be the benchmark unit.
