LOL — so now impeachment is “back on the table” if Bush has to veto this bill (regardless of the many legitimate reasons to do so)?! What’s next, really? A “Presidential” pardon, issued by Congress, for Valerie Plame? Does the phrase “Separation of Powers” ring an bells? Look, the Democratic Congress just voted to FUND his stupid surge. In years ahead when it looks like the US has to stay longer Congress will be asked to extend again…….and will likely comply if the current panty-waists are there (and they will be).

As a firm ANTI Iraq war advocate, I also can’t figure out what the Democrats are so proud of. You have voted to continue this lunatic war for almost two more years!!!!!

The worst thing that could happen, from Bush’s perspective (and the best thing to end this damned war) is that this will never pass in the Senate and no funding will be available to continue the conflict.

Without money this BS has to end!

The bill provides $124 bil for Iraq & Afghanistan and contains a withdrawal timeline of Fall 2008 the latest. The Gavel has the details:

U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans’ Health and Iraq Accountability Act. This bill will support our troops and veterans, hold the Bush Administration and Iraqi government accountable and bring our soldiers home by August 2008 or sooner.

- Expand funding for veteransâ€™ health care and hospitals

- Iraqi government must meet Bush benchmarks for reform

- Strategic redeployment of U.S. combat troops by 2008

- Refocus military efforts on Afghanistan and fighting terrorism

70% of the country has no confidence in King George and his administration. How many laws has this clown broken by now? It was approaching 750 in November. Then the people spoke and he just flipped us the bird and did as he pleased. I say impeach the lying bastard and move on. His head should be displayed on a pike outside his Crawford ranch. He works for us, not the other way around.

UPDATE (SilentPatriot): Jack Murtha took to the floor today and delivered one of the most impassioned speeches I’ve seen in a long long time. He ran through the important provisions in the bill and warned Republicans that a vote against it is a vote against desperately needed care for the troops. He ended on a personal story about his grandmother that almost brought him to tears.

Jack Murtha = Leadership. The right-wing character smears and swiftboating are as mean-spirited as they are disgraceful. The passion in his voice shows how much he truly cares about the troops. Unlike those that just them as pawns and exploit them for political purposes.

President Bush has been in the low thirties in approval rating for forever now. Those numbers are unprecedented for this length of time. People do not like him! They/we think he’s a terrible president.

and then some, with stipulations…
but the only way the troops don’t get the money
he wants them to have, is if he vetos this bill…

Great post’s, well, most of them….I got home from a free lunch…Wahooo. Turned on the TV and bull shit was spouting again…Fell out laughing so hard almost lost my great lunch…..Photo opp for the week and bull shit say’s he not going to allow the democrat’s to turn this into a political theater….LOL..Bad boy..Looked just like the spoiled child he has alway’s been, never having to give any accounting before he throw’s a fit…It’s his way or the high way …. He want’s what he want’s now and he scream’s it’s every one else’s fault…Hey wacko bush, you started this dreadful mess, gave away pallet’s of money that was borrowed from china and now the public want’s to know what the hell you did with it and how your going to spend the next palett full..

Not only that the old stupid phrase of ” we will stand down when they stand up’ is no longer any good…..Any sane parent or adult know’s that kind of comment used on people you are enabeling will never work…Time lines and accountability, dum bass….It’s time for you to veto and I hope you do then the house and senate can drag their feet till you run out of money and the troop’s are brought home ..End of war.

.BTW I read somewhere the money to bring all the troop’s home was allocated some time ago, providing this bunch in the administration hasent already shuffled it some where else…..Blessings

The Iraqis will never fit the Bush administration’s definition of “standing up” because they will not side with a foreign occupying army and a puppet government. Would you if you were in their shoes?

Many Iraqis are joining the army and police because income is needed when there is about 60% unemployment, you get weapons, you get a uniform (to assist you in your second job on the death squad), and you get intel on what the foreign occupying army is doing.
