Ater Hillary spoke, the busses from the SEIU pulled up to pick people up. Half the auditorium left. It wasn’t because they only wanted to hear the first four. It was because SEIU had busses leaving to take the people back home. I wonder why they cut off at Dodd. Do you think SEIU wants to keep its members from hearing the comments of Kucinich and Dodd? Those who stayed for the whole speech- maybe 200 people, were very impressed with Kucinich and said ,”He is the only one who had anything to say.” I was passing out flyers on him while people were in the auditorium, and those who saw Kucinich came to me to ask for a flyer after hearing him. THey were “very impresssed” they told me.

I could not be at the computer Saturday. Can we delete the whining about "real player" so we can read some actual facts? Would be nice to review the posts that were ABOUT the event itself. Pretty please? I am a doctor in favor of national health care (probably the only one) and am curious of the FACTS of the event. Delte the trash...please. Thank you in advance...

I agree that a basic set of health services, basic defineable by a broadly representative concensus building process, should be provided to all persons without regard to ability to pay. It would be OK to allow an option of an employer group upping the offering to it's employees, but the minimum should be avaiable to all.
I also agree with the person who says a high priorityshould be placed in making our economy energy self-sustainable. Raise the price of gas much higher through taxes and use the money to advance sustainability. That is as big of priority as health care. For if we don't solve the petroleum problem we won't be able to have health care or any caring services. We will be in economic crisis.
Third priority, get the war mongers out of office, get the liars out of office the fascist out of office.

Having Health Insurance is no quarantee your medical needs will be served “Underinsured” or prey to policies written to benefit insurance companies? ...
Despite having health insurance, BS of California denied medically necessary therapies for our 8 year old son. We pursued an independent review with the Department of Managed Health Care in Sacramento and despite providing letters of medical necessity and 85+ pages of documentation, the “contracted” state reviewer agreed with BS of California and they are no longer obligated to pay for our son’s therapy. Unfortunately, our family is at the mercy of whatever insurance policy my husband’s employer can obtain. With our son’s pre-existing condition we cannot secure insurance on our own. This issue is more complex, as it is not a matter of being underinsured, but rather we are subject to policies written so broad that the insurers can rationalize many procedures as not medically necessary; even if the insurer’s decision runs contrary to medical reports and documentation provided from physicians at renowned medical establishments, Children’s Hospital Oakland and Lucile Salter Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. If our legislators are proposing health care for all, let's “insure” that all parties involved, namely insurance companies, are working in good faith to provide these services and are not hiding behind their cleverly written policies.

No one here has spoken about mental health care except
Gov. Richardson. No one at all has talked about children with serious mental health care problems involved in the Justice System. What would any of these presidential hopefuls have to say on this issue? What would you do to protect seriously mentally ill children from going to prison for crimes where almost no treatment exists, and to ensure they go to real treatment facilities, where they will be treated, NOT PUNISHED for their crimes, as in the case very close to my heart, of Kip Kinkel of Springfield, Oregon who was sentenced at age 15, to 112 years in prison without any chance of parole, for crimes committed while extremely mentally ill from Schizophrenia, and acting on irresitable "COMMAND AND CONTROL VOICES" which allowed him "NO CHOICE" in his actions. Should he not be in a Hospital where he would receive REAL TREATMENT instead of almost ENDLESS PUNISHMENT IN PRISON?Many, many children who are seriously mentally ill end up in prisons where they are PUNISHED, NOT TREATED! What response do any of these presidential hopefuls have to this type of mental health care of our children? I haven't heard any one address these questions in this forum. Is anyone here fit to be president when they totally ignore this very, very serious problem which is a problem of JUSTICE, HEALTH CARE AND COMPASSION? Makes one wonder!!

Politics is/has become big business. Maybe if Bush were impeached, the drive for early campaigning wouldn't be so early. The drive seems relentless and frantic and is something that turns me off, frankly. It's like war drums.

#32- I'm torn. On the one hand, I agree with you. On the other hand, this may get some people who have never been involved in politics before to muster some interest. Regardless, it's out of MY hands and in the hands of the consumer, interest-type organizations who will undoubtably handle these affairs for promo and profit. All I can do is keep my focus and not deviate from what I know is right for me.

This forum is ridiculous.

The election is 21 months away; the Dem convention is 16 months away ... it is totally ridiculous to be staging 'candidate forums' this far out from an election.

And there are undoubtedly candidates still to get into the nomination race!

There is a big mistake going on here, I think. With all these states now thinking about moving their presidential primaries and caucuses into January or February 2008, the contest could be over by March!

What is a presumptive presidential nominee going to do for seven months? Except receive a blistering assault from the radical Republicans that Jesus Christ, himself, could not survive.

I think this 'way too early' stuff is going to backlash. If this keeps up, I would predict that candidate fatigue will cause voters to look for alternatives -- I predict more third and independent party candidates than ever in 2008 because of this 'never-ending campaigning' strategy.

Many people have commented on candidates' placement of pictures. They are ranked in alphabetical order, by last name -- both in the post and in the pictures.

They should all begin by thanking Karl Rove for turning a 90% approval president with the sympathies of the whole world into a universally loathed nit-wit with 29% approval.

Thanks Turdblossom, it could not have worked out better. It almost seems as if we had been paying you.

I do not understand what Hillary and her husband think we are-they are practicing mendacious and crude politics. Let's end this BUSH-CLINTON dynasty, we are more than 300million people. Democrats, choose Obama and Edward; they are the fresh and authentic people, who will provide a little breathing space to the million Americans. I thought Hillary ran one of the most failed healthcare system in the country before.

I am looking forward to this. I've already downloaded to make sure I have no problems. This is going to be awesome. Health Care is one of the biggest concerns to us next to Iraq and I hope we get a lot of good information about where each candidate stands.

Obama Edwards 2008 ( IN THAT ORDER )
