TP, when you do your threads with the highlights, please make sure you provide a transcript. Thanks!

  2. Jason M. Hendler says:

John Bolton will win Nobel Peace Prize for leading efforts to confront Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

  3. Briseadh na Faire says:

I couldn’t submit a question because each and every time I went to Thinkprogress.org my web browser quit.

I used a bookmark to a thread and sent word via the “contact us” link but got no reply. Now that the forum is over, I can finally access the page. Of course, it’s a bit late for any of my questions now.

    :-P

    Comment by Jason M. Hendler

What does that have to do with health care?

  5. Briseadh na Faire says:

Hendler! you drew the short straw again, finally. Off to sidetracking the thread with a non-sequitor again, I see.

So tell me, since you suspend your Christianity for the fight, what do you think of this:

    Bloodguilty Churches

Why Bush’s Agenda Is Immoral and an Abomination to God

  6. Jason M. Hendler says:

I have to post on the latest thread, because “progressives” don’t create threads that discuss foreign policy successes.

By the way, Iraq DID attempt to buy weapons grade nuclear material from Niger, as confirmed by the Washington Post, which refutes Joe Wilson’s statements to the contrary. If someone attempts to buy bullets, it is very reasonable to infer they possess a gun, likewise, it would have been foolish to ignore the seriousness of Iraq’s attempt to buy weapons grade nuclear material from Niger, considering their use of chemical weapons on their own people.

Deposing and executing Saddam Hussein was correct. Just as Japan, Germany and Korea required US forces to remain for decades, so does Afghanistan, Iraq and soon to be Iran.

  7. Jo-Ann says:

Thank for the live feed. Very informative. Hillary was amazing. Whoever wins , healthcare should be addressed . Karen Tumulty did a great and fair job.

  8. SD says:

Obama bombed, big time, and it’s past time for voters to wake up and realize that he has no real plans. Hillary proved why she’s the most qualified candidate for President hands-down today.

  9. oldhacks says:

Please don’t ever use Real networks again.

    Hillary unquestionably Ruled this debate.

I’ll tell you what. I’m sure TP will post a thread discussing a foreign policy success by thi sadministration…just as soon as they have one. ^_^

  11. oldhacks says:

Oh my god jason wake the hell up!!! Saddam was as much a threat as Indonesia. We went for the oil and to pass around money in war profits. Get a clue!

I disagree wholeheartedly. Kucinich rendered everyone else’s presentation irrelevant by fingering the underlying issue, which everyone else uncomfortably danced around.

    That’s a lie.

    Comment by Jason M. Hendler — March 24, 2007 @ 4:18 pm

No link=talking point. Echoing talking points bolsters Wilson’s report. Besides, WP and others published Bush’s lies repeatedly in the run-up to war, so its credibility on this issue is strained, to say the least. Find a credible source, cite it and include a link.

It’s pathetic you should want Bolton to get any kind of recognition for any efforts to stop nuclear proliferation when the Bush Administration destroyed the CIA program tasked with spying on nuclear proliferation. How many of our spies were killed just so Cheney could out Valerie Plame and Brewster Jennings? How many contacts were lost forever? How many millions went down the drain for political retribution?

  15. trueblue says:

    Forget it, oldhacks.

Jason couldn’t buy a clue if he had a million dollars.

    He just aint worth it.
    :P

  16. trueblue says:

    TripMaster Monkey,

I wish Kucinich wasn’t sidelined all the time.
He really seems to have some excellent ideas.
Unfortunately, with the MSM, we seem to be stuck with “All Hillary, All the Time.”

    She’ll never get my vote.

  17. Briseadh na Faire says:

    Meanwhile, back at the “suge”

A suicide bomber driving a truck with explosives hidden under bricks destroyed a police station Saturday in Baghdad — the largest in a series of insurgent strikes against the American-led security crackdown. At least 47 people died in the attacks, including 20 at the police station.

  18. Raymond Funamoto says:

John Bolton? Who’s That? Never Heard of the BUM!!!!!
Think Progress, MAGNIFICENT WORK AS USUAL—-KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND THE FIGHT AGAINST Bush’s TYRANNY!!!!!

  19. TripMaster Monkey says:

    trueblue,

Hillary lost my vote (again) when she proclaimed that Universal Health Care needs to be the single most important issue of this campaign.

Universal Health Care is certainly important, but there’s a few things that require any prospective candidate’s more immediate attention (corrupt administration, impeachable offenses, gutting of the Constitution, unjust imperialist war, etc., etc.).

  20. rfinca says:

Keith Olbermann had someone on his show last night, I believe it was someone from The Hill (http://www.hillnews.com/) saying that Obama and Clinton had pretty much the same voting records yet Clinton gets the negative press. Even though I’m an Edwards’s supporter, I’ll have to look and compare their records.

  21. trueblue says:

    I agree.
We need to take back our Constitution. (Hey. Didn’t GWB called that nothing but a “goddamn piece of paper?)

  22. TripMaster Monkey says:

Yes….so nice to see the “surge” working out so well… </snark>

Never before the Chimpy administration have I been so right so often. And never before the Chimpy administration have I more fervently wished I was wrong so often.

  23. Raymond Funamoto says:

UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE FOR ALL AMERICANS NOW!!!!! STARING WITH THE POOREST, THEN THE MIDDLE CLASS, AND THE RICH LAST, OF COURSE!!!!!

  24. TripMaster Monkey says:

    rfinca sez:

…Obama and Clinton had pretty much the same voting records yet Clinton gets the negative press.

It all comes down to voting on the War.

Hillary voted in favor of it.

    Obama didn’t.

(Never mind that Obama didn’t vote against it, either…everyone likes to focus on the no-vote-for.

So…who did vote against the War?

    KUCINICH.

Kucinich in 2008. It’s the right thing to do.

Yeah, Edwards voted for it too. In a perfect world Gore would be running and pick Feingold as his running mate. :)

  27. oldhacks says:

I love Kucinish but he doesnt have a prayer. It might be foolish but Id rather put my support in someone who has a chance and a decent record Like Hillary and Obama.

Hillary has the experience and support to get things accomplished. Anyone who doesnt think health care is the number one issue either has health insurance or is healthy.

John Bolton was so incompetent in his position, that they didn’t even bother to confirm his tenure.

    Hint Einstein.

When someone applies for a job, is put on a 90 probationary period, and then, at the end of that period, they’re asked to leave, you can safely assume they didn’t excel in their role.

    Please. Not Hilary.

Hilary wants to be President. Hilary will do what she needs to do to become President, include, thoroughly screwing the troops, the people, or anyone else she needs to do obtain the office.

The White House to Hilary Clinton is a career move.

To John Edwards the White House is a career move.

We need someone who CARES about the country, and has enough smarts to not make all the wrong choices when they have the ball.

    Like Al Gore.

Hilary supported the war. She pretty much still does. So did Edwards.

For me, that rules them out.

    But Obama is cool.

  32. The Artist Formerly Known as WORFEUS says:

John Bolton is out of his job for the same reasons all the Bush appointees are leaving or have left their roles.

    Incompetence and corruption.

The yellow cake documents were signed by a man that had been dead for 20 years…. it was a forgery… you people all commited high crimes against the USA… and thousands of Americans died because of it… I wonder if your kind will end up in prison by time this is all over?

You people expect our politicians to be saints. Even George Washington was a swindler. Part the reason why he fought the british was so he could invade and inheret more indian territory. All men created equal, except the slaves in my backyard and women. Though Washington did make enough money pillaging indians that he could afford to buy his slaves freedom befor he died. See? Evil to a point. Bush crossed that point. Hillary is still honerable in contrast.

Watch it now folks. Think Progress is going to promote Hillary as never before. You’ve seen the shift already by now, right?

Well, with Bill Clinton’s Chief of staff, John Podesta, heading up the joint at Think Progess, don’t expect any balance at all with respect to the Democratic presidential primary.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Think Progress is officially in Hillary Clinton’s camp. Pay close attention.

So, because you don’t get *your way*, you commit the blog equivalent of a *date-rape*? If you ever wondered why you’re *still-single* Hendler, the clues start here! It’s not *all-about-you*, dum bass!

By the way, Iraq DID attempt to buy weapons grade nuclear material from Niger, as confirmed by the Washington Post, which refutes Joe Wilson’s statements to the contrary. Comment by Jason M. Hendler — March 24, 2007 @ 4:18 pm

Only highly partisan GOP operatives came to that conclusion. The word, nor the specifics of *buying-material* were ever discussed. Your own potshot morons admit that!

If someone attempts to buy bullets, it is very reasonable to infer they possess a gun, likewise, it would have been foolish to ignore the seriousness of Iraq’s attempt to buy weapons grade nuclear material from Niger, considering their use of chemical weapons on their own people. Comment by Jason M. Hendler — March 24, 2007 @ 4:18 pm

If someone says lets go to Walmart, that doesn’t mean they are going there to buy guns, anymore than ‘lets talk about trade sometime’, means you are trying to desperately buy nuclear materials. Yet that’s the very *leap* of faith that everyone took on that.

Deposing and executing Saddam Hussein was correct. Just as Japan, Germany and Korea required US forces to remain for decades, so does Afghanistan, Iraq and soon to be Iran.
    Comment by Jason M. Hendler — March 24, 2007 @ 4:18 pm

Ah, the *moralizing* of the right wingnut. It never ceases to amaze me how wack jobs like Hendler think they *know whats best* for everyone else. What a dipsh*t!

  42. oldhacks says:

Thanks Taylor for pointing out the obvious truth. Hillary won this debate. Anyone who says otherwise is going on a preconcieved perception and not solely on this debate. I have my issues with Hillary but on this issue she put the others to shame.

John Bolton will win Nobel Peace Prize for leading efforts to confront Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
    Comment by Jason M. Hendler — March 24, 2007 @ 4:01 pm

Not only this comment is off-topic, it is also wrong.

It was the US’ European allies who took the initiative to negotiate with Iran over that country’s nuclear program, as the US looked on and refused to hold any talks with Iran. The European Union had to beg and pressure the Bush administration to convince them to join the talks. From the Department of State’s own web site:

The United States has offered to join European-Iranian negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program provided that Iran first suspend all uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities.
    [...]
The offer marks a shift in policy for the Bush administration, which had previously rejected direct discussions with Tehran on anything but the Iraqi security situation. Rice said, however, that the circumstances now justify Washington’s direct involvement in the negotiations.

United States Offers to Join European-Iranian Nuclear Talks

Mr. Hendler clearly hasn’t been paying attention to the news. What’s worse, he has posted that same comment time and again over the past few months. What a way to deny the obvious.

If that is what passes as “success” for the Bush (mis)administration and its supporters, it is no wonder the occupation of Iraq has become an unmitigated disaster.

  45. JPark says:

By the way, Iraq DID attempt to buy weapons grade nuclear material from Niger, as confirmed by the Washington Post, which refutes Joe Wilson’s statements to the contrary.
