Leaving Las Vegas.

ThinkProgress is traveling back to Washington, DC after yesterday’s Center for American Progress Action Fund/SEIU presidential health care forum, so blogging will be light. Regular blogging will resume later today and tomorrow, we’ll have highlights and exclusive video from the event.

    thanks for the NOTICE !
    :-)

here i was thinking that you were busy readying those videos of the forum to be POSTED so that those who missed if can still see it…

    soon, right? …surely…

Great. An empty thread without a particular subject. It’s the perfect gathering place for the trolls. Let’s turn it over to them to say whatever they want to say and get it out of their systems.

    Me too, katy.

I had this vision of the TP staff sweating to get the threads and transcripts up — and they were just sweating at the Black Jack table and girly shows. :D

After reading the reviews of the forum, my take is that John Edwards kicked ass, Hilary treaded water and Obama stepped in some nasty stuff. He didn’t appear prepared to discuss much.
Bill Richardson scored some points by tying this to using the money saved from leaving Iraq.
    Anybody else?

    Hi Mistress Z~!
Amber’s birthday party yesterday was a blast. I’ll spend most of today recovering and some spring gardening!

  9. Zooey says:

    RUC,

Please give my birthday wishes to the lovely Miss Amber.

Sounds like it was a great celebration! :)
    I hope I didn’t say that too loudly…..

  10. RUCerious says:

#9 Will do. We went to Jump Planet, like a gym with inflatable slides, mazes, obstacle courses. I had more exercise than I’ve done in months! Pizza, cake and presents finished the afternoon off. Was a blast! I’ll give the missy your birthday sentiments, thanks!!

When are the candidates for president going to address the disturbing fact that…

    …all around us…

…(economic and military,) alliances are being made throughout the international community…

…and DUHmerica is NOT being courted to join them…

    …DUHmerica’s CHIEF exports are:

    …WAR and VIOLENCE (weapons)…

    …and rap music…

    …how the mighty have fallen…

I never liked Hillary Clinton, but if I did and planned on voting for her, I wouldn’t anymore. As they say, a man is known by the company he keeps…

(FT.com | May 8 2006) Murdoch to host fundraiser for Hillary Clinton: Rupert Murdoch, the conservative media mogul whose New York Post tabloid savaged Hillary Clinton’s initial aspirations to become a US senator for New York, has agreed to host a political fundraiser for her re-election campaign. The decision underlines an incongruous thawing of relations between Mr Murdoch and Mrs Clinton, who in 1998 coined the phrase “vast rightwing conspiracy” to denounce critics of her husband, such as Fox News, the conservative cable channel owned by Mr Murdoch’s News Corporation. Mr Murdoch will host the fundraiser, due to be held by July, on behalf of News Corp.

    Vintage Hillary

(2001) Hillary joins GOP prayer group: In March, the New York Post revealed that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a Methodist, had joined a weekly prayer breakfast at the Capitol attended mostly by conservative Republicans. The group’s members include: Senators Don Nickles (R-OK), George Allen (R-VA), Kit Bond (R-MO), Jim Bunning (R-KY), James Inhofe (R-OK), Jon Kyle (R-AZ), Conrad Burns (R-MT) and John Edwards (D-NC). Asked to comment, the New York senator said, through an aide, that it was a private matter. None of the other senators commented on Ms. Rodham Clinton’s attendance other than to say that the prayer meetings were a way to get to know one another better, and that she was welcome. While not mentioning the former First Lady’s attendance, Senate chaplain Lloyd Ogilive said that the participants are encouraged “to tell their friends how God influences them and to describe their own personal journey.” Source

So are democrats never to even speak to republicans? How would that be democratic? You’re just doing your best to smear her with weak examples of bipartisanship. If you dont vote for her we’re going to end up with another Gore/Bush outcome. I don’t see how that’s in any way productive in restoreing our values.

    Evil,

…while I’m reserving my judgement ‘tl this thing plays out…

…evidence is mounting that Hillary is playing both sides of the fence…

    …not necessarily a bad thing for some…

…but certainly cause for consternation for those who REALLY want “CHANGE”…

i’ve been out in the garden for a bit… have to pace myself out there… get beck into shape! whew!… and now it’s time for some housework…
    later…

There’s no room for non-believers like me in this New America, the Religionist Parties have made that perfectly clear. The way things are going – I won’t be voting at all in 08. Why encourage them. I don’t hate religion but I sure as hell hate what it is doing to America.

Faith-based is unconstitutional. Not that the U. S. Constitution means anything to some elected officials – just thought it was worth mentioning. Do all the politicians want to rewrite the Constitution? Or is it just the GOP? The answer to that seems self-evident.

Good luck America – you’re going to need it. I just hope it’s not too late.

It’s been tons of fun but it’s time for me to move on.

    katy and Zooey,

EVERYONE should visit Las Vegas at least ONCE…

…it’s quite unique in its diverse architecture, festive 24/7 atmosphere, and pure commercial/entertainment bent…

…I REALLY love it every time I go there…

…and the food and accomodations ain’t bad either…

  24. Zooey says:

    big papa,

I’d rather go to Yellowstone Park or the Oregon Coast. :)

…Nothing wrong with taking the scenic route…

    …zzzzzzz… :-)

    …(don’t get mad now, NOT a judgement)…

…I’m kinda gun shy on the threads today…

    …seems we’ve got Progessives turning on Progessives…

Hi all – we have been working on getting the video up, but it takes a while, and the web connection at our hotel was really slow. Sorry for the delay.

    Nico

  27. Zooey says:

    big papa,

Are you saying you would rather not experience the sweet sulfur smell of Yellowstone, while dodging charging elk and bison? And that you would rather not freeze your ass off at the Oregon Coast?

    Is that what you’re saying?

You are dead to me. :D

Um, Nico? Why do you have that showgirl’s feather boa hanging around your neck? You’re never going to get her makeup off your shirt, you know. Don’t forget to cash in your chips! :D

I hope the TP staff didn’t take a Greyhound bus back to Washington. I assume they kept gambling to a minimum. I think more than a few people have gambled just a little too much in Vegas, and found themselves on a Greyhound.

I hope Linda Ronstadt was appearing at a Vegas casino. She’s one person I’d like to see live.

Just a few short years ago she was booed off a Vegas casino stage for praising Michael Moore’s movie. How times have changed. Times have really, really, really changed.

If she appeared in Vegas now, ticket prices would be a lot more. Not only does she have a great voice, but credibility.

A lot of Washington politicians that ONCE HAD A VOICE, now have none. I think they’ve hit a few bad notes.

A lot of Washington politicians that ONCE HAD CREDIBILITY now have none. I think they’ve told too many lies.

The lyrics of one Linda Ronstadt song keep running through my mind.

    To the Bush administration:

YOU’RE NO GOOD, YOU’RE NO GOOD, YOU’RE NO GOOD, YOU’RE NO GOOD, YOU’RE NO GOOD, YOU’RE NO GOOD, YOU’RE NO GOOD, YOU’RE NO GOOD, YOU’RE NO GOOD, YOU’RE NO GOOD, YOU’RE NO GOOD.

    John

Zooey – you don’t make this Yellowston/Oregon trip sound all that appealing. So if you write travel brochures – better take Sunday off.

TP, keep up the good work.

Actually a certain song by Denis Leary keeps coming to my mind…..

    A
    SS
    HO
    LE (everybody!)

    A
    SS
    HO
    LE! (He’s the world’s biggest….)
